Dot charcter in technical name of the BW hierarchy causes WebI to fail

Hi,
I have a WebI report based on a BEx query. The BEx query has a mandatory hierarchy variable. The hierarchy has "." dot character in its technical name. The dot character is used to distinguish 2010 and 2010 profit center hierarchies.
When a universe is generated on this BEx query, the profit center objects have select staments as
[!V000002_].1012_].[LEVEL00]
. I think
].1012
causes parsing to fail. Also, I get the "Supplied XML is not valid" error while drilling down the hierarchy in the Webi prompt.
I manually replaced the string "].1012]" with "]" in the Universe but it did not help. I still get the error in the Webi prompt.
I came across the note 1447838. However, it suggests to install FixPack 2.7 to get rid of the above behavior. However, I am already on BI XI 3.1 SP3 and I think I should already have fixpack 2.7.
Please let me know if anyone has any idea on this issue. Of course, I can look at the possibility of using some other character for distingusing between the hierarchies but curious to know if there is any solution.
Environment:
BOE XI 3.1 SP3
SAP BW 7.01
BO-SAP Integration Kit SP3
Universe connection authetication - SSO

I upgraded BOE to SP4 but still no luck.
SP4 includes FixPack 3.1 and FixPack3.1 has a fix for ADAPT01383387 (SAP Note 1447838).

  • Change Technical name of the Cube.

    Hi All,
Is there a way we can chnage the Technical Name of The Cube.
    Thanks
    Umang

    Hello Umang,
It is not possible to change the technical name of a Cube. There are too many complexities.
You could create a new cube with the same structure using the 'copy from ' function while creating it and give it the desired name..
    If it helps, provide points.

  • Display technical name of a query in a web template ?

    Hi,
I try to display in a basic web template the technical name of my query with a web item. In this order, I have tried to use the web item 'Text Elements' but how could I configure the latter in order to have only the technical name ?
I have selected 'Display General Text Elements' in properties of the web item.
In the property 'List of Text Elements', what is the couple of values that I have to configure ?
    Many thanks,
    CG.

    Hi,
What you need to do is, keep a TEXT Web Item in the template.
Then do not tick any of the options under Specific. Instead, go to List of Text Elements. In the first column, select General Text Symbol. In the next column type REPTNAME.
This will give the technical name of the query in the output.
    Common text elements:
u2212 technical name of the query (REPTNAME)
u2212 description of the query (REPTXTLG)
    u2212 InfoProvider (INFOCUBE)
u2212 key date for the query (SRDATE)
u2212 accuracy of the data (date and time) (ROLLUPTIME)
u2212 the person who wrote the query (AUTHOR)
u2212 the last time the query was changed (date and time)
       (MODTIME)
u2212 the last person to make changes to the query (MODUSER)
    u2212 current user (SYUSER)
u2212 the last time the query was refreshed (date and time)
       (SYUZEIT)
    Try this. Hope it helps.

  • Function module to create query view from technical name of the query ?

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to create webservice definition using function module.
In this code, I am calling function module 'RSCRMBW_REPORT' which requires query view name ( we can see this in RSCRM_BAPI) as a value for parameter i_reportuid.
For the time being I am hardcoding the value but I need to use a function module which will convert techincal name of query into query view.
Can anyone have any idea about the above requirement? Or is there any other way to solve the problem?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
You can use FMs CONVERSION_EXIT_GENID_INPUT  and CONVERSION_EXIT_GENID_OUTPUT to get query view.
First call FM CONVERSION_EXIT_GENID_INPUT with parameter input as query technical name then it will return Output in the form of GENID .
Pass this GENID as input parameter to FM CONVERSION_EXIT_GENID_OUTPUT to get query view as output.
    Eg :
    Test for function group      RRI5
    Function module              CONVERSION_EXIT_GENID_INPUT
    Uppercase/Lowercase
    Runtime:        6,652 Microseconds
      Import parameters               Value
      INPUT                           Y0IC_C03_Q0018_2
      Export parameters               Value
      OUTPUT                          4D1I916ID7TWS1CK27154WYZ8
    Test for function group      RRI5
    Function module              CONVERSION_EXIT_GENID_OUTPUT
    Uppercase/Lowercase
    Runtime:        2,818 Microseconds
      Import parameters               Value
      INPUT                           4D1I916ID7TWS1CK27154WYZ8
      Export parameters               Value
      OUTPUT                          0IC_C03/Y0IC_C03_Q0018_2
    0IC_C03/Y0IC_C03_Q0018_2 is expected query view.
    Hope it helps...

  • Display the technical name of the last level of the hierarchy

    Hello,
I have a report with hierarchy. Each level of the hierarchy uses different infoObject. I want the report to display the technical name only for nodes from specific infoObject. For example if the infoObject uses 0cust_grp1 (for the first level), 0cust_grp2 (for the second level), 0cust_grp3 (for the third level) and 0customer (for the last level) and I want to show the technical name only for the 0customer infoObject. I know how to do it in WAD reports. Is there a way of doing it in the Query Designer?
    Please Advice,
    David

    David,
          Check the below possibilities.
    1. You can do that in a workbook.
    2. Create a copy of the same hierarchy and for the 0CUSTOMER object and nodes give tech names as text also.

    Hi,
Have you used a Text Item for displaying the name of the Query ? If yes, in the properties of the Text Item, you would have binded the Data Provider. Here, you can give the option of Displaying General Text and the General Test Item can be the Query Description.
Pls let me know if you have used somthing else or in some other way.

  • Currency Conversion Variable is showing the Technical name of the variable.

    Hi friends,
We are using currency conversion Variable in our querie, it was showing the description of the variable until yesterday.
Somehow something has changed and suddenly its showing up the Technical Name inteasd of Description. This is happening not only to one variable but for many of them.
Can someone pls guide me how to rectify this?
    Your help verymuch appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

We had the same problem. Unfortunately this setting only seems to be available for a query view. We were using web reporting anyway so we just converted the dataprovider to be a query view where this setting had been made. It's a bit ugly but it worked.

  • Technical Name of the workbook Bex Broadcasting

    Hello,
I have a workbook in Bex BW 7.0 which should be broadcasting to the managers via e-mail. Everything is ok except the name of the workbook. Workbook goes to e-mail address with its technical name instead of its description name. It's not because of the language differences problem. We checked it.
    Looking forward for your replies.
    Thank you very much.

    Hi,
Please check if you have given the description of the workbook,  in "Subject" (under "Texts" tab )
while maintaining the Settings for broadcast.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • Technical Names appearing in the report output

    Hi Experts,
I am in support and got a strange case. When one of the users runs the report in web, he sees technical names of the fields instead of their description. On the contrary, when I run the report, everything comes fine. I don't know where the problem could lie. If you can help me, that would be really great.

    Hi Shobhit,
Please check that if the objects are Translated to the language User is using.
When you try to run the report, you might be using English as default language and everything is there in English only. And when user tries to run the report, most possibly use's login Language must be different.
You can crosscheck this by using the users language while logging in to Analyser,
If this is the case (Translation) even you will see the Technical names.

Is it possible to display the technical names of hierarchy nodes in the variablescreen of a webapplication in BW 3.x?
    Regards,

Firstly check no UI elements are hidden via Personalization (Ctrl and Right Mouse button) on user level or in the PCD preview at administrator level
Secondly check you are operating a recommend SP landscape

  • How to Rename the technical name and description of an infocube?

    Hi,
How to Rename the technical name and description of an infocube?
    Thanx in advance,
    Ravi.

    Ravi,
You cant change the Technical name of the cube but you can change the description of the Cube. If you want to have a Cube with the same properties and with different Techname and Description better you do copy from the base cube and rename as per your requirement.
