Dot1q trunk from single switch to multiple switches

Hi,
Hope you can help please !
I have a single switch with 6 vlans and one trunk port at the main site  This has to connect to a 3 separate locations each with its own switch with a trunked port via a microwave network.
I have run it in packet tracer using a hub as the microwave network.  It works fine in that, I just want to check it would 'actually' work or could it cause problems ?
Diagram from PT below with 3 vlans just for clarification.

First of all   'This is not a school related work' Leo Laohoo. There is no conspiracy here, calm yourself down.
We are loosing quite a few E1 circuits and they are being replaced with only a few ethernet, so we need to conserve them.
It is indeed a L2 network.  The VLANs don't need to communicate with each other and will terminate into a firewall.  I used the PC's on the left as an interface just.
I was concerned about having one trunk port connect to 3 other switches.  I wasn't sure how they would react as I've ever only used trunks point to point.
Hence why I used the hub in PT to break a single trunk into 3.  I just wasn't sure how the switches would react to this.
 Thanks !

  • How does a RAC DB 'spread' from single instance to multiple instances ?

    GI/RDBMS Version: 11.2.0.3
    OS: Oracle Linux 6.3
    Filesystem : ASM
When a RAC database is created using dbca , Manually , or RMAN restore, the DB is created in the Node1 first with cluster_Database=FALSE .
Then you run the following commands (for 3-node RAC)  from Node1
    srvctl add database -d lmnprod -o $ORACLE_HOME -p +LMNPROD_DATA01/lmnprod/spfilelmnprod.ora
    srvctl add instance -d lmnprod -i lmnprod1 -n hwcarser290
    srvctl add instance -d lmnprod -i lmnprod2 -n hwcarser291
    srvctl add instance -d lmnprod -i lmnprod3 -n hwcarser292
Once the DB is created, mounted and opened in Node1 and the above commands are executed , you set cluster_Database=TRUE and startup the Instance2 and Instance 3 in Node2 and Node3.
I just want to know how does Node2 and Node3 becomes aware of the DB and joins the DB cluster ? What happens internally ?

Generally speaking, registering in OCR is not required for database to be a cluster database.
Migration from single-instance database to cluster consists of creating redo logs and undo tablespace for new instance and enabling this instance (thread). If database is policy-managed, this is done automatically for new node.

  • Custom workflow - How to go from single server to multiple?

I have been working on a project that involves developing a custom workflow activity for SharePoint 2013. I am developing it in a single server environment working with http. My problem occurs when deploying to multi-server environment with https (WFE, APP).
My question is how to deploy my solution to the new environment.
    The steps:
    Create a project - c# activity library
Add a workflow activity, add .xml
Deploy the .dll and .xml of project to "C:\Program Files\Workflow Manager\1.0\Workflow\Artifacts" "C:\Program
    Files\Workflow Manager\1.0\Workflow\WFWebRoot\bin"
    net sotp "Workflow Manager Backend"
    net start "Workflow Manager Backend"
gacutil to deploy the .dll to GAC
    iisrest
Create a project - empty SharePoint 2013 project
Add a workflow custom activity to project
Edit .actions4 and .xaml (my custom code from previous project is in this project now that i can drag and drop in .xaml)
Deploy to server, activate feature, open SharePoint Designer 2013 and choose the custom action that now appears when creating a 2013 workflow
This all works fine and dandy on my single server environment. Workflow is working like a charm. How should I go about deploying this to a multi-server environment with https? Does that server need Visual Studio on it also? I have continued to deploy the
.dll and .xml to the workflow manager backend folders. I have continued to deploy the .dll to the GAC also. When I upload the solution to the new site, it continues to work. When I open designer to create the workflow, it breaks and i cannot create or edit
any of the workflows on that site. Do i need to be doing something different because i am going from a http environment to https?
Let me know if this is unclear or if anyone needs more information. Thanks

If I understand correctly, your workflow still working fine in multi-servers farm but having problem in SharePoint designer. As far as I understand your custom activities should be deployed in the server where your workflow manager is running. Good architecture
would be to put the workflow in app server (or in it's separate server). But if you are also using HTTPs in multi-server farm whereas the workflow configured over HTTP, you might need to register the workflow (I'm not quite sure though, so you can try in some
    test environment first).
I've worked with SharePoint 2013 workflow but I intentionally didn't develop custom activity. Rather I develop custom WCF service in SharePoint. And then used the service from workflow. This is how I could use a separate dedicated server for workflow (if
needed ever) without having any reference to SharePoint DLLs from inside workflow.

  • Creating chart from single column of multiple tables in Numbers '09

I have multiple tables (spread across multiple sheets) in my document. In column B of each table is a name. The other columns contain other categorized data. Each table has a variable number of rows, but each name is unique within a table. A particular name in any one table may or may not occur in another.
What I want to do is create a chart that shows the total number of times each unique name occurs across all the tables. Not really sure how to do this...
I would also like to be able to sort the chart from highest to lowest.
Message was edited by: Sir Reginald

That won't quite work, as I have hundreds of names to process. It was a good starting point though. Here's what I had to do:
    1) create a new table (mynames) containing all the names in mynames::A
    2) in mynames::B1 put the formula =SUM(COUNTIF(Table 1::A, A1), COUNTIF(Table 2::A, A1), ...)
    3) Select column mynames::B and then choose *INSERT -> Fill Down* from the menu
It becomes a bit tedious to have to update the formula and refill the column every time I add another data table. Imagine if I had hundreds of tables to enter. Hmmm....
I currently have one table per sheet, but if I were to move all the tables onto one sheet, categorize a column, and then collapse all the categories, that wouldn't take up too much space on one sheet. Say I had 100 tables, I could then reduce the formula to:
    =COUNTIF(Table 1:Table 100::A, A1)
I would also have to make sure to place the mynames table before Table 1 in the table list. All in all, much less of a hassle to add new table data.
Hopefully, Apple will add multi-sheet spanning collections, in the same way you can do multi-table collections now.

  • Upgrade from single folio to multiple folio

If i have a single folio app of a title running with creative cloud and the client decides to turn it into a periodical can i upgrade it to multi folio. Obviously for this i would have to take out dps professional edition in order to have multiple folios but just wanted to know if it is possible to change once i have created an ipad app.

yes no reasons not to be able to do that, but just make sure that the content in the single issue, is available to view when you re-submit as a multi issue.

  • Global SIP trunking from single provider

Our large global organisation is deploying on-premise Lync EV across 200+ sites globally.
We want to minimise the number of suppliers we use in this project and use SIP trunking where possible.
Are there any global telcos that would be able to offer me SIP trunking, with global points of presence on their network, and also 'full' SIP services for most countries.
By full SIP services I mean, competitive pricing (compared to local Telco), emergency number dialling, other special numbers, and full number portability
I have found some of our existing SIP providers can provide services in other countries, but they are not very good at it, and it is overpriced and they don't really know what they are doing.
Surely there must be a few big players who can offer me a truly global service with regional trunks and services for all our locations?

    Hi There
That’s a great question. The answer is, yes there are. There are a number of global carriers or at least carriers who claim to be global (and who
only serve NA/LA and Europe with bits of the pacific. However, if you use one of these guys, prepare to pay a premium, as their target market is large enterprise business who are prepared to pay for the privilege of a 'one throat too choke' relationship. I
have worked for these carriers, so know this to be fact. In most countries where this TDM telephony and now Internet, somebody has built an in country SIP business. These in country providers, tend to focus on the small to medium up to mid-market enterprise
community, for customers who want in country SIP services. A number of regional integrators have gone to these providers in the major geographies and built SIP propositions on top of their own networks and provider these to customers who are prepared to pay
for the privilege of having one supplier (again I know this to be fact, as I have worked for them).
What the industry needs is a collective agreement where Tier 1 SIP providers in each of these countries, create an alliance based network for the
handoff of traffic at International colocation points. For example, my company in the UK perhaps peering at Tele house and enabling the wholesale SIP connectivity to any carrier who likewise wants to be colocating at that point. This would enable each SIP
carrier to provider their own A-Z IPT tariff and offer in country local break out and emergency services, enabling business A in Country A to call Business B in Country B for the price of a local phone call.
It's so obvious, but finding someone who does this is a challenge. Probable today each of these in country SIP carriers have enough business by
focusing on their own country, without the need to expand their geographies and put their hands in their pockets for the required investment. Just as in the TDM industry where carriers built global A-Z traffic exchange points, this organic growth and service
evolution will take place. When, probably depends on one of two things happening. Either (a) the in country carriers seeing more opportunity from their existing customer base to develop an offer for international service provision or (b) someone visionary
and with deep pockets grabbing the opportunity.
The solution for you? Take service from your in country provider and build your own international end points if you can. If I can be of any father
    help do let me know.

  • Domain Migration :from single domain to multiple domain.

    Hi ,
We have an urgent requirement for the domain migration
The scenario is currently we are using MS AD as LDAP server to store portal users and thier credentials.
Lets say we have current domain name as : ad.abc.com
we are planning to migrate from this domain to number of domains.our requirement is to move the portal users into thier specific domain in batches.eg out of 5 users 2 has been moved to new domain and other 3 are still in ad.abc.com.
But after domain migration ,all the 5 users <b>should</b> be able to access all the applications and functionality of portals.
What should we do to achieve the same?
How portal applications will be affected by this? Can all the users access all applications without fail?
What exactly the LDAP does in portals?
Any help will be greatly appreciated
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
Yes, you need to prepare Active Directory and domains.
What's more, you need to upgrade existing Exchange 2007 servers to Exchange 2007 Service Pack 2 at least.

  • Remove trunking from a port in catos?

    All,
Simple question: I want to remove all trunking from a port on a switch running catos. Clear Trunk seemed the obvious option, though it seems to just remove the vlans that are allowed to pass over the trunk port. Set Trunk mod/port Off doesn't do the trick either. Any thoughts?
    thanks!

    Hi Chris,
"set trunk x/y off" is the correct syntax. When you try that, what happens?

  • Switching plan from Single app Plan to Photography Plan

I just switched my plan from single app Photoshop $19.99/month plan to the Photoshop & Lightroom $9.99/month plan because I don't use everything on the larger plan. My original renewal date was in either June or July. Will I be charged fees for changing my plan today?

    HI Sarah,
I checked your account information. No, you will not be charged fees for changing the plan. You are continuing to use the same product but at a cheaper rate. Enjoy using the software.
    Thanks

  • How to find the server connected from multiple switched netwtwork

I have one server connected to distrubted switch or acces switch  in network .
They were 45 switches in netwrok and need help how to find that server  connected switch  from  Core switch ?
How many  mehtodes and process we can use to find that connected physical switch ?
    Thanks in advance !!!

It's a bit of a tedious process. but if you ping the IP address of the server from the core switch and then check the ARP entry to get its MAC address, you can then trace the address tables in the switches to find the switch that the server is physically connected to. Once you have the MAC address, you'll have to check the address table in each switch in the path between the core and the server to find it.

  • Switching from single NIC to NIC bonding in "active" RAC

    Hi
    I have a 4 node RAC cluster on RHEL 4, running 10.2.0.3.0 in "semi-production".
"Everything" is multiplexed, except the NICs. The servers have 2 NIC ports one for public and one for interconnect.
If we add another NIC with 2 ports, is it possible to change the NIC configuration from single port to NIC bonding, without reinstalling CRS?
I can get a maintenance window, so this doesn't have to be done on the fly, I just need to know if its do-able.
I have checked some notes on MetaLink and for me it looks like this should be possible.
    E.g. Note:436555.1 and Note:283684.1
    Regards
    Niklas

Nicke, Its very well doable and supported approach. You can use oifcfg to reconfigure the interfaces and there is no need to reinstall the CRS.

  • Cisco SG300 - IGMP and multiple switches

    Hi all,
I have read through various Cisco documents and tried various configurations and i have been unsuccessful
    Here is the network layout
Cisco SG300-10 in Layer 3 mode, managing all VLANS created and inter-vlan traffic is working fine
Ports 1-4 are in LAG 1 with LACP enabled, Ports 5-8 are in LAG 2 again with LACP enabled, port 9 is connected to the ASA 5505 (Trunk port, all VLANS) and port 10, again a trunk port I use for management
LAG 1 and 2 are connected to Cisco SG300-52 switches
again traffic between the switches is working ok, what we would like to do is the following
on VLAN 7, we have multiple devices streaming using UDP multicast, what we would like to do is allow PC's on VLAN 5 to be able to pick up these streams as and when they need to, the devices broadcast on their own unique UDP ranges
Could someone please explain to me what I need to configure on the Layer 3 switch and the other two Layer 2 switches in order for this to work?
If i put a port into VLAN 7 and can view the stream without a problem, also if there is any fine tuning to be done once this is working
    Thanks
    Andy

    Jason,
The only advantage you would get from using SFPs (fiber tranceivers) in the GBIC slots would be if you needed to make a run of over 100m between the switches.  Unless you have a very large property with switches at either end you are just as well to use the copper ports in the setup you described.  There is also nothing wrong with chaining the SG100s together if necessary to free up a port on the RV320.  The only other thing to consider is if you are using VLANs.  Each unmanaged SG100 will only pass a single VLAN so if you need segregated distribution coming from the RV320 you would need to put each SG100 on its own port.  Or, you could run a trunk from a port on the RV320 to your SG200 and then split off your untagged VLANs from there.  Hope this answers your question and have a nice day.

  • Home Network and Multiple Switches

Hi, I am upgrading my small office network as I have run out of ports on my Cisco SG100-24 unmanaged switch. I have purchased another SG100-24 which will give me the ports required. My question is how best to connect them.
I am currently using my ISP`s modem to a Cisco RV320 router to the first SG100-24. I see two obvious options here one being just daisy chain them or just connect them each to the router as more of a tree approach. I also have a 8 port switch (SG200-08) but not sure I need it any longer with the new 24 port switch though it is a "Smart-Switch".  I guess I am curious if there is any benefit of using the mini-GBIC combo ports (with or without buying the modules) or just to run both switches through the RV320.  I also use a 4410 WAP so my current pan is as follows:
    Port 1 of RV320 -> SG100-24#1
    Port 2 of RV320 -> SG100-24#2
    Port 3 of RV320 -> WAP4410N
    Port 4 of RV320 -> Server
I would appreciate thoughts and suggestions especially as it pertains to the Mini GBIC combo ports.
