Double audio or no audio

One of our clients is reporting that the Captivate videos, when played from their LMS, have "double" audio, and in one case, no audio.
I've played them myself from the LMS, with no problems.  Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?  Since we are all remoting in to the LMS, stored outside the firm, I'm wondering if download speed is an issue.
Thanks for any suggestions!

My best guess would be that the people with the double audio have clicked twice on the link to launch the lesson (because they were impatient) and inadvertently started up two instances of the same lesson.
The one with no audio could be just a random glitch, or it could be that the person has their sound turned off on either their sound card or have clicked the mute button on the playbar of the module.

  • Sync doubles audio - Is iMatch to blame?

I recently purchased iMatch and it has not been an easy ride...  Now, when I sync my iPad with my computer, in step one or two, the size of the audio file doubles.  Then, when the final couple of steps come around, it syncs back down to the actual size of my audio files.  What is causing this?  It is creating problems for me when syncing movies.  After I load movies, I can't resync because I get an error that I am attempting to sync too much data...  How do I fix this problem?  I've got the latest versions of iTunes on both my PC and my iPad.

Did you ask iTunes to put 128 kbps files onto your iPad? I'm not sure how the iPad would resolve downloading 256 kpbs files from iCloud and respecting your 128 kbps option, but it seems like it might do something like you're seeing.
    Good luck. Joel.

  • 845PE Max double audio

I have a multi OS configuration and i need to work with my semi-professional audio board under WinMe and with the integrated audio board under win2k.
But if my PCI board is installed , win2k doesn't "see" the integrated audio board, and my expensive audio board isn't compatible with Nt/2k/XP.
Bios only choices about integrated audio is:
    -Auto
    -Disabled
Would it be possible to add an "ENABLED" voice in bios choices instead of been obliged to use auto detection that hides the integrated peripheral to OS?
    Please help me.

  • Strange audio problem playback

I have what's probably an easy problem but can't find an
answer anywhere here. When using "Play" or using the return key to
preview my project in Flash 8 on OS X, I can't stop the audio. The
audio is an MP3 voice over.
Pressing "Stop" or using the return key again stops the
playhead, but the audio continues no matter what I do. I can go
back to the beginning and play it again, and now I'll have two VOs
going on at once. The only way I can get the audio to stop is by
    closing out the project.
This is making timing my animation to match what the VO is
    saying very difficult. Any ideas?

I am having the same problem, but only after reinstalling XP
and all my software on a new hard drive. My previous hard drive
hadn't had a fresh install of XP in three years and was giving me
intermittent problems. However my swf's work properly on the old
drive but not the new one. I'm guessing it's one of my updates of
Firefox, flash player (was using 9,0,28,0 but now am 9,0,45,0). My
scenario is complicated because I'm using Flash Media Server, but
again it works on one drive and not the other. The odd thing for me
is that if I create my swf on the new drive with 9,0,45,0 and then
play it back when I boot from the old drive, it still has the same
double audio problem that plays similar to you. My play/pause
button has no effect and the audio just keeps going. If I do pause
the audio and wait for my audio to finish and then hit play again,
my scrubber bar moves but nothing plays until it gets to the end
and starts over. I was also getting double audio at times as well.
Could this be the new player??? Have you figured anything out since
you posted last? I'm using XP, flash 8, Firefox 2.0.0.4.

  • Why are audio levels limited to 12?

I have never understood why raising audio levels is limited to 12. I end up doubling audio tracks, which still doesn't raise the audio to the desired level, and seems really foolish for a professional program like FCP. Am I doing something wrong?
While I'm on the topic, I aim to peak my levels at -12, but that generally leaves my final product on the quiet side in its final form (generally DVD). Any tips there?
    Thanks
    Aaron

This is actually kind of tricky. Ever notice how when you import music from a cd you've got to crank the levels way DOWN? This is because the digital realm allows for a lot more perceived volume. And producers, in their wisdom, use every available bit of headroom. Even look at some of the soundtrack loops-- same dealie.
the -12 on the FCP audio scale, of you do out to an analog mixer is understood to equal zero dB ANALOGUE. But you can set the scale any way you want, really. A lot of television stations want a reference tone of -20-- giving you that much more headroom.
So... unless you're going to end up with an analogue master, treat that -12 as a general level, rather than a peak, which could go as high as -3-- although I still like more headroom than that, and try never to peak over -6 for an atomic explosion or some such.
Then you've got to take into account all the subtleties of your mix. A motorcycle passing by is louder than the dialogue, shouting is louder than whispering, foley effects like footsteps ought to be subtle. I could go on and on.
What I think one should strive for is a soundscape with things at a realistic level in relation to each other, with nothing either so low it won't be heard, or so loud that it will clip. Remember that folks can always turn up the volume on their sets, as long as you didn't make it too low.
    Am I babbling yet?

  • WinDVR audio problem

I have TV@nywhere Master 8606, I'm using WinDVR 3, everything is working fine except for when I pause live TV, here's the problem:
While watching TV, if I press pause the tv pauses, when I press play, video plays but with no sound. In WinDVR under Audio Input settings, Source is set to Line-In. I tried setting Audio Input to CD Audio, so now when I press pause video pauses but I can still hear sound, when I resume playback, I get double audio: audio from playback & from live TV. How can I solve this problem.

How many audio sources do you have conneted to your motherboard form the TV tunner card?
When i first hooked up my Tv@nywhere tunner, I hooked up both the CDout & Line out, from Tunner card to MOBO. this can cuse some audio problems. All the audio input selector realy dose ( ) is changes what input the volume controls use.
you might try to mute the audio you are not useing in the Avanced Volume controle pannel. (try this befor unpluging stuff  )

  • HT4640 I have been developing a keynote presentation & want to play audio across several slides. Also want to insert movies made in final cut X but am finding I have to go to black and double click movie files before they appear. looks awful to do that.

I am new to Keynote and the newest version was just installed in my apps.  I have found difficulty in using audio in a presentation since my presentation plays various audio clips over several slides or movie clips.  My solution has been to create movies with my audio (.mov from final cut x) and insert into the presentation.  They play in the presentation but I cannot get a smooth transition. The presntation must go to black and I have to double click for every "slide" that is done this way.  I am on the verge of going back to powerpoint as my presentation platform. Seems there is little or no flixibility in keynote.

  • Zoom H4n Stereo Audio Plays Only Left Speaker - How to Double It?

    Hello Everyone,
I've been working on a few projects and noticed that the audio captured by the Zoom H4n will preview in both speakers (and before I drag it to the timeline I can right click -> Modify ->Audio Channels and get all the options there as well as hear it from both speakers) but as soon as I drag it onto the timeline it will only play through the left speaker.
Any ideas of either where I'm going wrong or how I can double the audio? It's all already cut together so I'm hoping there's a fix that is semi-time efficient to apply lol. Thanks so much for your help,
    -Karl

Glad that helped! Next time, you can use the Modify > Audio Channels command to handle this before editing. If you only have audio on the left channel of your stereo source clip, or don't care about what's on the right, you could set the stereo audio to be treated as dual mono. When you put the mono source tracks into a sequence with a stereo master track, the mono source will automatically be routed to both stereo output channels. You can then use the Pan knobs in the Audio Mixer to position each sequence track in the stereo spread. This has to be done before you use the source clip in a sequence, however.

  • Why doesn't Quicktime play audio in double speed any longer?

Until recently, a person could click on the FF button to play a video/audio file in double speed and hear the audio. This was especially helpful when watching/listening to lectures. Now when you play in double speed there is no audio. What happened? Is there a glitch in the software? I hope the feature is returned to its former design.

Finally figured it out the solution! (This only applies to Mac users.)
Firefox 3.x ran in 32-bit mode and Quicktime 7.x runs in 32-bit mode, so the two programs worked just fine together. The new Firefox 4.x, however, runs in 64-bit mode, so the 32-bt Quicktime 7.x plug-in no longer works correctly.
Luckily the fix is simple: just switch Firefox 4.x from 64-bit mode down to 32-bit mode. Here's how:
    [] Close Firefox 4.0
[] Highlight the Firefox icon in the Applications folder
[] Click COMMAND-i to open the Get Info window
[] Click on the box marked: OPEN IN 32-BIT MODE and close the window
    [] Launch Firefox
You can now save Quicktime files as before, assuming you have Quicktime Pro.
[] After closing Firefox, you can un-check the OPEN IN 32-BIT MODE box so Firefox will once again run in 64-bit mode.

  • AUDIO TO SCORE is gone and it was much more precise for drum doubling than the doubling function itself.

AUDIO TO SCORE. I used that all the time for drum doubling for the following reasons:
In Logic 9 i always used audio to score for drum doubling because it had much more control over essential parameters than the drum replacement window. Parameters like: Granulation, Smooth Release and Attack Range made sure that i didn't have any flams, too few notes, too many notes etc etc. AND you could see in the sample editor (below the waveform) immediately the effect of the changes made in those parameters!
Now with these parameters gone and only the drum doubling function left, what was a real pro function has become much more cumbersome to use. You can no longer see in detail what changes in parameters does to the out-coming midi. And the lack of the detailed parameters makes drum doubling drop or miss notes, makes flams with the original drum track etc etc.... In short. The drum doubling function is inadequate for pro results.
So this is my suggestion: Apple probably wont reinstate audio to score as it was (i'd love it if they did, it's essential to me and others who does rock mixes in logic instead of protools). But you can do something that's even better:
In the audio file editor (previously the sample editor) make the old audio to score into an advanced drum doubling/replacement editor. Take the audio to score window and parameters and reinstate them BUT instead of outputting different note values make them output to a desired note of the users choice (e.g C1). Without opening the library. It cluters the window and often people want to use their own drum software than apples samples.
It's the realtime view in the bottom of the audiofile editor that makes a difference. And the missing parameters. Without these things a good outcome is based on luck rather than visual reference.

I was doing drum replacement ( adding ) with Audio-to-score for years, and must say, drum replacement is working for me without any flams and much better and 2x faster. I think it is pro feature, with advanced transient detector. Only problem is velocity,as in Audio-to-score.
If automatic threshold not working on some material, you can do  fine transient edits in audio editor with visual realtime feedback, you can change output note and delay globally. Also you can hear ( in compare with Audio-to-score), that's why library is opened and sample replacement -after, not difficult to do.

  • Double playback of audio files after publishing

    Hello,
I'm having an issue with audio playback.  Once I publish the project, the audio files play back double, with the second one starting about 3 seconds after the first.  If I pause the project, one of the audio files keeps playing.  I removed the auto play function, but no change.  I would greatly appreciate any tips if anyone has experienced this before.
    Thank you!

Hi Anjaneai, Thanks for the response.
I don't have any text captions in this project, the entire thing is from PowerPoint, where the audio files worked perfectly fine.   I also checked the use count, everything reads as "1"... I also tried to begin from scratch with just one slide and one audio file, and the same thing happened.  I'm beginning to think my audio files are corrupted.  (However, they play fine in itunes and powerpoint).  I converted them from mp4 > mp3 with an online converter... might just be the problem! I'm going to download a trial of premier and see what happens with that!
    Thanks for the help,

  • How to double the freqency of an audio input?

Hi I am working on a project for school. I am using a speedy 33 dsp and
lab view. I am taking an audio signal (guitar) and I want to double the
frequency (ie bump it up an octive). I have tried mixing the signal
with itself and removing the dc. This works perfectly fine with a sin
wave but it does not work with anything complex. Does anybody have an
ideas on how I could do this?

    Hello InstaAX,
Perhaps a quick fix, if you are only concerned with how it sounds, would be to change the dt of the time between points. If your data is in a waveform, than this is pretty straightforward, Get Waveform Property>dt; dt/2> Build waveform[dt]. However, this would also be twice as fast (like a sped up tape).
If you want to keep the same speed, but higher pitch, you will need to modulate, then demodulate the signal with twice the frequency. This is the trick that all the "chipmunks" albums use. I have to admit that I have only done this is MATLAB, but the corresponding functions certainly exist in LabVIEW, and I will do a little searching to find the exact ones.

  • Audio and video don't open together in viewer when double clicked

    Hello everyone!
I'm having an annoying problem... it isn't something terribly important, but has decreased my work flow speed. Recently, I've had some trouble opening clips from the timeline in the viewer with the double click.
If I double click the video portion of the clip, even if both the video and two audio tracks are highlighted (and are still linked) only the video portion of the clip will appear (along with "filters" and "motion" tabs) in the viewer, and similarly when double clicking the audio tracks, though both video and audio are highlighted, only the audio tracks and "Filters" tab show up in the viewer. Additionally, once the item is double clicked at the left with the jigsaw pieces that can be used to set video and audio destinations, if I've clicked on an audio portion so only audio shows up in the viewer, only the jigsaw pieces for the two audio tracks (a1, a2) are visible, video track (v1) is no longer present, and vice versa.
I'd appreciate any advice that you all have! It's really driving me batty, in addition to not knowing what I did to make it that way, I can't figure out how to change it back!
    Heather

    Thanks for the advice.
The clips already appeared to be linked, and the selection "link" was checked, however when I unlinked and then relinked I found that the audio and video would open up at the same time in the viewer... problem apparently solved! However, the clips I had been working with I had to nudge audio and video a few frames apart (out of sync) to get the audio and video to line up. (gives the little red box with a +or- number in it on the clip).
When I unlinked and then relinked, the clip lost those red boxes and went back to being synced (as far as FCP is concerned) with the audio and video unaligned.
So, the problem appears to be coming from when I move the audio and video of a clip out of sync... why is this? Is this something I'm just going to have to deal with?
    Thanks
    H
