Double clic to play a song

I use itunes for several years. I began with PC and for 1 month I have a Mac.
To have a music in my playlist, it was necessary just double-click. But with the version itunes 8.0.1 of my iMac, I have to double-click several times before having the song.
Thank for your help to repair this bug.

  • Double-Clicking to play a song puts it in a different order

Whenever I double-click on a song to play it, it moves that song down to the last song of that album. It does this in both my iTunes library and in the music on my iPod. So, it's reordering the songs in all of my music and I don't know how to change the settings so it won't change the order of the songs? And how do I get CDs back to their original order?

Sounds like you have somehow clicked on the *Date Played* column to sort everything.
Try clicking on the Album column header in itunes.
I don't know what's up with the ipod doing that.

  • ITunes 2 double-clicks to play a song...

Since I've downloaded recent version of iTunes (10), I have to double click a song twice before it will play. One double click will only select the song, it won't start playing. It's very annoying, is this just a change to iTunes that I'm stuck with or is there some setting that can be changed?

  • I am getting an exclamation mark when I try to play a song or drag a song

in ITUNES----after I double click to play a song, or try to drag a song to a different playlist,a box pops up telling me that the music could not be found, would you like to search for it? An Apple "expert" from phone support told me to delete all 15,000 songs and another expert didnt have a clue, and yet another one hung up on me. Does anyone have any ideas? I know my music didnt just disappear. Someone please help me. Would be forever indebted to them. Tired of talking to "experts" on the phone. Jeff

Shadow--hey thanks for the reply. No all the songs are in C drive on my computer. I do have an external drive as backup (Sync-Toy) but all my songs are on C. I was thinking of trying to delete ITUNES and Quiktime and reinstall. Do you think that would work? Jeff

  • I-tunes for windows, playlists only play one song

I've got a bunch of playlists and for some of them they work fine. But for some when I double click to play a song, it only plays that song. It never advances to the next song.
    Thanks for the help,

Do all the songs have checkmarks next to them?

  • Why does it show a (!) when i double click on the play list and it won't play the song?

why does it show when i double click on the playlist and it won't play the song?

The exclamation point means iTunes is no longer able to locate the track and the location specified.  See this article for more details.

  • Quits out any time I play a song or video.

I go an double-click on a song and it starts to play. But Windows pops up with it's "iTunes has commited an illegal action" window and I have 2 options of send error report or don't send. Either way, iTunes will die.
The same happens when I go to try and play a video.
I've tried reinstalling and that didn't work.
Anybody have an idea on how to fix this problem?

    hi DaMang!
sadly, no luck. would it help to clear out my
library from iTunes (still keeping it on my
    copmputer)?
... that would be even more experimental than the
last thing we tried. let's try to get some more help
with this one. we'll generate a crash log and send it
to someone who can interpret crash logs.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on
your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows
start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the
prompt in the command line window that comes up, type
    in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And
    Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr
Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called
    "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash
log, delete any existing crash logs in
there. (we want to make sure we send the correct
    crash log.)
play a song in itunes, collect the crash log, and send it to this email
    address
    in the email:
    (1) state the precise version number of itunes
that you're using. (go into your "Help > About
    iTunes" to doublecheck.)
    (2) include the URL to this thread so that the person
who gets the email has some context, but also give as
much information about the context of the crashing as
    you can.

the dr. watson folder is never created. i have no idea why.

  • How do i play my songs on my computer?

how do i play my songs on my computer?

    Find a music file.
Open your hard drive (Home), then Music, then iTunes, then Media, and drag the music file into the Automatically Add To iTunes folder.
Start iTunes by double clicking its icon.  The music you added should appear in it.
Click the triangle at the top of the window.
Alternatively, double click on any file with an iTunes icon on it and it will open iTunes , add it, and play.  This is okay for right now but pretty soon you'll want to do it another way.

  • Since downloading 11.0.1 (12), Itunes can't locate or play many songs but the same songs still play on my synched iPod.

Since downloading Itunes 11.0.1 (12), Itunes can't locate or play many songs but the same songs still play on my synched iPod. I have a MacBook Air, Lion OS, Itunes version 11.0.1 (12).  I didn't see this problem with older versions of Itunes.  I do not manually change the organization of the Itunes library.  I use the Itunes "add to library" feature or Amazon's MP3 downloader.  Sometimes, however, I have changed song information in the "info" window.  Such as unchecking the "compilation" button and sorting by artist (for that song), so that I can search by artist in the top pane of Itunes (otherwise the song is sorted in an album that is a "compilation," but not under the name of the artist who sang a particular song.  I've done this without problem in the past, but perhaps the newer version of Itunes can't handle the changes I made and has lost track of where the older version of Itunes stored such songs?    How do I fix all these older previously ok changes if that's the case...  If I could just find where they are stored in Itunes it would be easier perhaps.  I've looked in compilations, unknown artist, and so forth to no avail.  And Finder search can't find them.
Details: suddenly, many songs are marked with "!," denoting that Itunes cannot find the songs in the library and cannot play them. Oddly, my iPod CAN play the "unlocatable" songs with no problem (it has been synched "post problem").  So the songs are still there somewhere in the Itunes library.  This problem occurs by album, that is, all songs from the same album become unlocatable, although different albums by the same artist may still be found and played.
Exploring the Itunes library to try to locate the missing albums/songs, I discovered that generally there is no longer any folder specified for any artist associated with a missing album [artist is the top level of organization and album is the second; compilations are in the same folder]. This is true even if I have other albums from the same artist which Itunes IS able to locate.  I cannot find a single song/album by such artists anywhere in the Itunes file system, even the ones that Itunes can still play.  If I right click and "get info" for an unlocatable song, I get a notification box that asks if I want to locate the file.  If I click "no," next thing-- the info window for the song pops up, with all the correct info (including sort info, which I double check)!  Why is Itunes able to locate all the info on the song, but is not able to play the MP3 file?
Using Finder I cannot locate the songs that are unlocatable by Itunes (except the original download files in the Amazon MP3 folder).  Finder is, of course, able to find Itunes songs that Itunes has no trouble locating.  What's up?!  My iPod can find them just fine.  I just synched my iPod again and am playing the "unlocatable" songs right now.
I can "fix" most of these files by downloading files one by one into Itunes from my Amazon download folder or from my CDs using the "add to library" feature. In fact, it is strange.  But this will take a very long time!  And what if this problem continues recurring?   But something strange happens when I implement this fix.  I added one song to Itunes (from the Amazon MP3 folder, using "add to library") for one "unlocatable" album of Pete Seegers. After adding that one song, I looked at the Itunes music library and discovered that a folder for Pete Seeger (which was not there before I added the song) had been newly created, or restored.  In this folder was the one song I had just added, but ALSO all my other Seeger albums that had previously remained "locatable" by Itunes.  But the other "unlocatable" songs were not restored, unfortunately.

I have found a workaround. When I create a new playlist, iTunes allows me to add or remove songs from existing playlists for a short while. Then, for some reason it prevents me from adding and deleting songs again. Not sure why. Go figure.

  • ITunes will no longer play a song I bought

I bought some music a while back. Then I updated my OS from XP to XP Pro. Now, iTunes tells me that I am no longer licensed to play that song. I try to double click through on the song to re-license it. The iTunes store acts like it is working to license it then tells me that I am licensed to play it on 1 of 5 computers again.... and then gives me an error "Unknown error (-208). Please try again later"
Is there away around this? I could spend the $1 to download again but it is the principle...

You get this message because  iTunes can’t find the file. This can happen for a number of reasons:
The song file or a folder in its path was renamed
The song file or the folder it is in has been moved
The song file has been deleted
The device containing the song files e.g. external drive is not accessible or the drive letter has changed.
Do any of these aply to you?

  • How do i get itunes or any other program for ipod to play one song and then stop instead of contiuing playing. I need it to be in the same playlist and ready to play the next song when I press play?

how do i get itunes or any other program for ipod to play one song and then stop instead of contiuing playing. I need it to be in the same playlist and ready to play the next song when I press play?

Good luck.  I tried to do this to cue sound effects for a theater, and never found anything.  iTunes will definitely *not* do this, nor was I able to find any player that would play one song at a time in a single playlist.
In my case, I ended up using AutoHotkey to tie individual tracks to the keys on an external keypad. This was an excellent solution for my problem, but I don't think AHK runs on Macs.
One workaround is to make a folder, and fill it with *shortcuts* to the songs you want (ie, the actual files).  You can change the names to start with numbers to get them in the right order.  Then if you double-click on one it will play just that song.  You'll still have to double-click on each song.
Might be a good time to learn AppleScript   It would  also be pretty easy to write a Java app to do this.

  • Nano 6G: When I play next song, an extremely loud sound will play for 0.3 sec.

I am extremely annoyned to the fact that when I play music on my iPod Nano 6G (The small one with touch feature), I will play next song by double clicking sleep button then suddenly an an EXTREMELY LOUD DEADLY SOUND will play as if the iPod wants to kill my eardrums. This happens in 1:500 ratio I guess. Did anyone experience this before? I tried playing the song with iTunes, Media Player and other players then I click NEXT to try if it happens but not.

Oh sorry - just answered my own question - somehow the songs were marked "Skip on shuffle" (went to "Get Info" for all songs, under Options....not sure how they got marked that way, but the issue seems to be resolved on both Mac and iPhone....

  • Spotify plays wrong song (usually equivalent track number from subsequent album)

    Description
Whenever I try to play a song, spotify will play the equivilant track number from the next album down, and to play the song I want to I have to play the equivilant track number from the preceeding album.
A more detailed description, using numbered steps
    1. Tried to play the song I wanted to listen to (e.g. Bohemian Rhapsody on CD1 of the Queen Platinum collection) by double clicking or pressing enter button
    2. Song on the next album plays instead (One Vison on CD1 of Live at Wembly Stadium)
    3. To get original song to play I have to play the equivilant track number from the preceeding album (track 1 - Intro from Queen Rock Montreal)
    What I expected to happen
I expected the song I wanted to play... to play
    What actually happened
The song on the next album played (same track number, same CD number, next album down)

    Not really

I have the same issue. Also, when playing songs from "Popular" it plays the equivalent track number on the first album.
This seems to occur on the first album I play when starting Spotify. Going to another album resolves the issue and going back it's working as intended again.
Are you storing info from last played artist/album on shutdown and restoring it upon startup? Somehow the index on track-collections of last played artist seems to be +1 on startup.

  • ITunes 10.7 freezes when I attempt to play a song I purchased

    Hi,
I have the latest version of iTunes, 10.7. I have been having a continuous problem with playing songs in my list.  When I click the play button, the scrolling bar does not move and the song will not play. However, if I restart the PC and load iTunes, it plays as soon as I double click on a song in my list. When I boot up the pc for the first time, it will not play.  It only plays if I restart.  Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
    Thanks!

itunes will freeze even WITHOUT playing a song...
7.6 release of itunes was rushed so Jobs could look good at Mac Convention.
Apple didn't seem to care it was completely buggy and usless for a program. And to top the cake, if you called Apple to try and find out why iTunes was freezing and running slow, Apple blamed your computer. So 1000s of iTunes users have bad comnputers (even though they are all 100% above the minimum requirements for iTunes to run). sad Apple...how about take ownership??
there is only 1 good fix at the moment. uninstall 7.6 and reinstall 7.5 (see other threads to see how to do this flawlessly).

  • Where are music files stored when playing a song stored in iTunes Match?

Where are music files stored when playing a song stored in iTunes Match? Instead of clicking the cloud icon and downloading the song, I simply double click the song and it starts playing. Later, I can quite iTunes, come back and not have to wait for the song to buffer. When I go to about on my computer I am told there is 11 gigabytes of music on my computer. Where are those files stored, do they clear themeselves over time, etc...

but then why does the FAQ state this:
Does iTunes Match stream or download songs?
On a computer, any songs stored in iCloud will stream over the air when played, though you can download them at any time by clicking the iCloud download button.
Do they mean a different computer than the one with the stored music files?  Would be nice if they specified what they mean
