Double click on iPhone's safari browser

Is there anyone can tell me, how to do double-click at the safari browser in iOS 4, similar to Windows operating system, such as there is a special site where its require double-click in a link to open up.

Double tap with your finger?
I have never run into to this.
Can also try holding finger on link for a few seconds-should get pop up giving 3 option-open, copy, cancel.

  • How do I double click in the playbook's browser?

    Hello World,
I am trying to use a web page that requires me to double-click.  The PB browser zooms if I double-tap.  How do I send a double-click instead?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Maybe you can post a link to the page and tell us what you are trying to double click.
A website that asks you to double click has obviously been written when most visitors had windows pc. It is asking you to execute or open something.  take care!
Right click is tap and hold. A context menu will open and it will vary.
Double click is as skidoo says,  or tap, wait, tap, or tap and hold then Open in new tab. It really depends on what the link is.

  • Double characters when typing in Safari Browse

I'm using the Safari browser, but when i type f.ex an A it responds with AA.
I only have this problem in the Safari Browser. Is there a fix for this ?
    The Safari Version is 5.1.1
Hope there is a fix for this problem.

    Hi,
The problem you described sounds reminiscent of a problem many MacBook, MacBook Pro and even PowerBook G4 users have been experiencing. If you do a Discussions-wide search for the phrase "first key" in quotation marks, you'll get an idea of how wide-spread the problem is. Apple recently released a firmware update for the MacBook and MacBook Pros, but reports of first-key-unrecognition persists.
While I hope your problem isn't of this variety, the point I'm trying to illustrate is that if it is, Apple has yet to pin down a proper fix for it. Until they do though, perhaps some workarounds you can try are banging on a modifier key before typing anything, or clicking twice to ensure focus has been given to a window element and not just the window.

  • IPhone's Safari browser plugins and codecs?

I cannot find any info about add-on or plugin support for the iPhone and whether or not anything is being worked on to allow viewing of non-builtin formats of video and data files.
Can someone shed some light here?

I dislike the idea of popular use turning a third party plugin into something which is assumed to be a standard. Case in point, look at the Microsoft/Sun Java debacle some years back.
Basically Sun (creators of Java) let Microsoft distribute their own version of the Java virtual machine with Internet Explorer. Microsoft started making changes to how things worked, and since IE was the most commonly used browser at the time it's the version of Java that most developers catered to. This led to a slew of sites and applets which did not run under the legitimate Sun Java Virtual Machine. Sun finally got sick of this and pulled Microsoft's rights to distribute a Java VM, which in turn led to all these developers having to retune their programs to work with the original standards.
That said, I'm all for an industry standard vector graphics display for web pages. Scalable vector graphics is one such attempt being made http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/

  • Upload using iPhone Safari browser

Can the iPhone's Safari browser upload files? I'd like to use my company's web-based CMS tool for adding content, but the 'file browse' button is inactive (grayed out). Can't attach files in Gmail either... I was hoping this might be a 'feature' added in the iPhone 3.x release.

No,you can not upload files with Safari Browser. But I heard a long time ago that iPhone hacker hachu developed a download plug-in for MobileSafari.Once installed and customized,it allows you to download data off the Internet and store it on your iPhone or iPod touch local disk in the /var/root/Downloads folder. You may get some help with this.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
In System Preferences>Quicktime>Advanced>Mime settings>MPEG, are all boxes selected (they ought to be)? If not, select all, and restart the computer. If all boxes are selected, does the same problem occur if using Safari in another User Account?
Creating a New User Account: Here is guidance from Apple on how to set up the account. You can ignore step 7 in the article.
Also, on the system preference>Accounts panel, click on "log-in" options. There, select "fast user switching". This allows you to go back and forth between user accounts via an icon in your Menu Bar at the top of the computer screen.
Log-on to the new account and start Safari. If the sites are accessible in the new account, then your problem is specific to your regular user account. Otherwise, similar response means a system-wide problem.

  • Plese help me ! can't open files with double clicking icons...

at the first, sorry about my English. (i'm japanese and english is my second language so..) anway.... i can't open the files on desk top by double click. if i go to Finder then i can open files... and some files i can open by double click. i downloaded Limewire but i can't install it because my couble click is not working for that. but i can double click to open photoshop, safari or email or some other things in the dock. and i couldn't open up the games either.. doesn anybody knows what's happened to my son's computer? it's a iMac flat panel G4. and OS X 10.3.9. Thank you sooo much!!

Saw your response and started to write to you for help also but have, with one final try, found PART of my problem. I have a Logitech wired optical mouse that worked with everything except opening desktop volumes when I double clicked on them. I could open applications and documents within the Finder window....just not the desktop volume icons.
I ran Disk Utility........verified all the volumes........repaired all permissions, unplugged mouse and reset. Logitech software is up to date.. I've never had this happen before.
What I discovered was that I was double clicking to open the volumes, but had the mouse set for single click. It's still a little strange because I changed it to double click to open and now it opens with double OR single click. Now I can open the volumes but it won't allow me to move the Finder windows that open. I can't drag or move them on the desktop; have to use them where they open.
Any suggestions for me, I hope? Thanks.

  • Facebook videos not playing on iPad Air(safari browser)

Why do my Facebook videos not play in iPad Air(safari browser) but same video play nicely on iPhone 4(safari browser). It asks me to download flash player to play on iPad but plays fine on iPhone without giving any prompt to download flash player.

You should not have trouble playing using the FaceBook app.

  • I Already checked the general preferences box "double click titlebar to minimize windows," all applications responding to this command EXCEPT for Safari, why?

I thought that I had done something wrong, but it appears that Safari is indeed unresponsive to the double click title bar to minimize command.
All my other applications are responsive to this, but not Safari.
Also, maybe someone could help me by answering these questions:
how it is possible to save safari browsers with the tabs that are open, so when I exit out and reopen safari I can resume where I was before?
why is it that I don't see that little red circle with the number at the bottom of the Safari icon that tells me how many browser windows are currently open so I can juggle between them?
Why is it that you can no longer click on the application icon to shrink the window? I am positive that this was possible on previous mac OS.

I had missed that double-click title bar was no longer working in Safari (I really miss windowshading and tabbed finder windows!), until I read this thread from sharoo..
    Carolyn Samit wrote:

Since it's application specific, to to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.
I'm seeing the same problem now. Tried deleting Cache.db, also deleted Preferences:com.apple.Safari.plist in reference to another thread; still don't get any response to double-clicking title bar. Lately, I usually do it accidentally, but it would seem to be a handy shortcut, especially since it's advertised as being present.
Note: I just tried it in other applications, and I don't see minimizing with double-click anywhere, and can't find any preferences setting for it. [Panic sets in... - am I losing my mind?] I tried looking in the Secrets prefpane, with no luck there either.
    What am I missing?
Has this been changed? I also noticed that the green (right-size) button behaves differently now, and there are several ways to arrange icons in the finder, some like the old way, some very different and confusing (I may have figured that out, but have to retry when I get there).

  • IPhone 5 Safari Faking "Private Browsing" Mode

I recently posted in another forum about how suspicious click-through ads were appearing on my iPhone 5 within certain media web sites. Since I have never run Safari without “private browsing” mode being on; have always had “limit ad tracking” turned on; third-party cookies blocked;  and have geolocation and location services (for Safari) turned off, that should have been impossible. While the discussion participants had come up with some interesting possibilities, I realized that I had neglected to check the “Website Data” screen in iPhone’s Setup. So I just checked the web site storage. Got an unpleasant surprise when I was greeted with a screen-full of URL’s beginning with www.stayinvisible.com and carbonite.com. Tapped on “show all sites” and 100 or more URL’s scrolled by, among them many Apple web sites. Even found a competitor’s web site URL that should not have been there, since I’ve never visited their web site, nor any legitimate web site that would have hosted anything that would have set a cookie on this device.
Apple’s privacy policy with the current version of Safari for iPhone 5 (within IOS 7.1.2 11D257) is very clear:
    "Private Browsing
When Private Browsing is enabled, Safari doesn’t remember the pages you visit, AutoFill information, and your open tabs aren’t stored in iCloud. Safari will also ask sites and their third party content providers (including advertisers) not to track you. Websites can’t modify information stored on your device, so services normally available at such sites may work differently until you turn off Private Browsing."
Apple stated that, “Websites can’t modify information stored on your device,…” yet I have in front of me proof that web sites CAN and DO modify information on my device while Safari’s “private browsing is on. This is very deceptive and a nasty way to treat customers who bought one of the most expensive PDA/smart phones on the market and now find that they have no web browsing security (Safari ignoring secure web site security certificate revocations, can’t detect bogus or malicious secure web sites), and apparently zero web browsing privacy, after Apple promised exactly the opposite.
Has anyone else finding that their web browsing security has been compromised with a recent vintage iPhone?

I’ve wiped the web cache several times since then. Several times I found more cookies in the web cache, at least once found over a hundred items, mostly for web sites I didn’t visit even once, but were all in my Safari bookmarks. Apparently, in addition to everything else going on, Apple appears to be rooting through my bookmarks without my permission.
Using Steve Gibson’s Cookie Forensics web page (https://www.grc.com/cookies/forensics.htm) I confirmed that web sites are able to save and retrieve cookie data from my iPhone with Private Browsing enabled. That violates Apple’s stated privacy policy.
The cookies that keep reappearing in the web cache, which also violates Apple’s stated privacy policy, apparently are leftovers from Safari crashes. I see five crashes in the past month, and crash logs for Safari going back to last year. Per my earlier post, after tapping the "delete" button, the cookies immediately disappeared, but then all came back at least once within a few seconds. That means IOS was hiding, and not deleting, the web cache when the "delete" button was tapped. The reappearing cookies are also only being hidden from the user, and become visible when a device crash prevents IOS from keeping the cookies hidden, since they've been in the web cache all the time.
I also see that other apps, like Podcasts, Stocks, and Weather are also writing or accessing items in the web cache, while “Private Browsing” mode has supposedly been “on.” The only thing “private” about “Private Browsing” mode is Apple deliberately hiding this activity from users.
Safari on IOS will allow web sites to track iPhone users regardless of an iPhone user’s device settings. Anyone who merely minimizes Safari between sessions, rather than killing the active Safari task, will find their device will act exactly the same whether “Private Browsing” is on or off. Safari might not prompt for, for example, a user name for a login, but if the web site stored a cookie with login info, it might already have you logged in (if a login were required for a particular page). And if a cookie were saved to the web cache after a device crash, Safari will again violate Apple's privacy policy and allow web sites to read and modify the cookies that were stored in the cache while "Private Browsing" mode were on. I confirmed that more than once.
Apple’s privacy policy for is a lie. Mobile Safari has no “Private Browsing Mode.”

  • Safari icon has disappeared from my iPad. Will not show up even when I double click home button to show history.

When I opened my iPad today, the icon for Safari browser was gone. It is nowhere to be found; not even when I double click home to bring up recently used programs. I don't see any other ones that are affected this way. Any help will be appreciated.

  • Safari Browser won't refresh on iPhone

I am using safari on an iPhone 5S.  I am trying to look at a web site that changed within the last 12 hours.  The safari browser still shows the old web site.  I click on the refresh icon next to the url, but it won't load the new version of the web site.
I go to the same website on my laptop and my wife's iPhone 5S.  In both cases, I get the new version of the site.
    HELP!!!!

Alright. If it is displaying correctly on your wife's phone but not yours, it is not a Safari bug, it is something specific to your device.
I understand your frustration, but using all caps to highlight something is not necessary. That is considered rude and yelling. I'm trying to help here. Also, I would consider it far from serious, just irritating.
If the settings on your device mirror those on your wife's, then I would say if deleting cookies didn't help, then the next step would be a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. If that does not do it, the next step is a restore. You can restore from a backup first. Backup your phone, sync it via iTunes, then click on the restore from backup button. After that is done, see if that helps. If not, the last troubleshooting step is restore as new, or not from a backup. This will put a fresh install of iOS on the device, and without adding anything else, test the website. See if this corrects your issue. If it does, then try loading the backup onto the device again. If it will no longer work, then there is something corrupt in your backup that is causing this.
