Double-click running of video files has stopped working in Snow Leopard

Just updated to Snow Leopard and now I can't run QuickTime via a double click on a video file in an iPhoto 08 event. If I use Show File to bring up the Finder, then I can run with QuickTime X. Who wants to do that every time??
Anyone know the answer?
Regards
Simon

It's a bug introduced with SL. Send a report of the problem to http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

go to the "system preferences" on your dock.
    click "software updates".
    click "installed software"
if it shows something about a recent update about "EFI UPDATE, FIRMWARE, THUNDERBOLT" or anything like that, exit out of it.
    go to mail.
    click "mail" at the top.
    click "preferences...".
find the account you are having trouble with, once you do, make sure its highlighted, then click the "-" at the bottom of the window (this will only effect that mail account, it will not effect your ical weather or not its synced thought that email account)
hit the "+" (right next to the "-") and add your accout back!
its something with that update that effected mail, i hope this works out for you, if not reply back

  • CS3 Licensing for this product has stopped working on Snow Leopard

Ok, I tried all the links, suggested, the solutions that Adobe suggested, emailed them today, see what responce I get, ran the Licensing fixer script, re-installed after using the uninstall and uninstall script, ran through all the suggestions they made, ran the installer disk with all options off, I am at the end of my rope here, nothing seems to be working, is there anyone else that might like to chime in here to see how I can even get CS3 working in Snow Leopard? I did a clean install of the OS and then time machine to add all the apps and docs back in, CS3 is the only app that is not working right now, that and the Qmaster from Compressor, think Apple would have fix that little nugget before releasing! DOH! I do need CS3 to work soon, I hope that maybe the next patch will work!

I had the same exact experience as all of these folks.  I bought Adobe CS3 and installed it on my MAC.  Upgraded my system to Snow leopard 10.6.7 and Adobe stopped working (license error message).  Notably, on my work computer I had the same error appear after uninstalling a couple of components of the application and reinstalling them again....so be aware of that as well.
My first step was to call the Adobe help desk where I was told after about a half hour that my system upgrade to snowleopard 10.6 made my system incompatible with Adobe.  I mentioned to the technician that I was sitting viewing the statement from Adobe in 2009 that these systems were tested to be compatible.  I was hung up on.  I called back and got another technician who told me the same thing and said there was nothing more they could do for my $1000 piece of software.
Anyway, enough ranting...don't go by the Adobe advice and the re-license software doesn't work (or at least it didn't for me).  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times to no avail.  I had to find all of my FLEXnet files and delete them.  This took forever because my finder didn't find them (nor did my spotlight).  I had to look for them and they were in three places (library, utilities, and within some of the individual application folders).  I deleted the entire folders.  I then deleted any file even remotely associated with Adobe. I then reinstalled with all of the applications unclicked. This is important. Then I added Photoshop.  You have to open that first to get the serial number prompt (Acrobat will just crash if you try to open it without loading and opening photoshop first).  Then I loaded Acrobat and that seems to be working.  It only took me 16 hours and my time is actually worth more than the price of the software but oh well, mission accomplished, I hope this helps someone.  What a complete festival of nonsense!

I can't play MPEG4.avi, or any other, video  - all I get is "The video player has stopped working. Please relaunch".  Please tell me what to do.

I took the video in 2009.  I can't remember the camera model I took it with and the other information you request does not show up in the "i" panel in iPhoto.
My version of iPhoto 11 is 9.2.3.

  • Coverflow 'click ahead to browse' feature has stopped working

    Hi Everyone.
I am a user of the coverflow view in itunes 7.01 and i often browse by clicking on the cover a few ahead of the one selected and having it quickly jump ahead to that. Well it has stopped working. Coverflow will still function correctly using the scroll bar etc, but this particularly useful bit just doesn't move any longer. I updated from 7 to 7.01 when I first noticed the problem but it stayed the same. The only thing I had done in itunes before noticing this problem was to use a small programme called MoveTunes to move some songs from one hard disk to another - but I have done this before with no problem.
I would be grateful for any suggestions.
    Thanks
    PM 1g, ibook 1.33   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi Federico
Good and bad news - coverflow is working properly again but I do not know how I fixed it. I tried everything I could think of, fixed permissions, rebooted, freed up some more HD space, made sure I had correctly uninstalled the non-working volume logic and 3D OSS plugins, checked that I didn't have duplicate copies of album art anywhere, etc, but nothing worked. Then a couple of days later it just started working again on its own. I hope you get the same good luck.

  • Licensing stopped working with snow leopard

Since installing Snow Leopard, I cannot launch any of the CS4 or CS3 apps (on two seperate computers).  I get the message that "the licensing has stopped working":  What do I do???????
    Thanks

Problem solved, no thanks to Adobe.  I had fixed permissions of the Application Support's Adobe folder and tried removing the FLEXnet Publisher folder with no improvement.
I removed all Adobe folders and files in the Applications Folder and the Library Folders including in Preferences and in Application Support.  This included folders and files with Adobe in the name and the FLEXnet Publisher folder.  I then ran Adobe's MacCS3Clean.  Then, I emptied the trash can, fixed permissions, and restarted the computer and reinstalled everything.
Now all CS3 apps, Photoshop Elements 8, Adobe Reader 9, and GoLive 6 all work.
I had used Time Machine to migrate from a G5 iMac running Leopard to an Intel PowerBook Pro running Snow Leopard.  I got the dreaded "Licensing for this product has stopped working" only for CS3 applications.  After working with Customer Service and Technical Support for 2 weeks(7 hours total) and no improvement, I went ahead on my own and solved the problem by brute force in less than 2 hours.

  • Air update, now video scrubbing has stopped working?

Well ok, not exactly sure what's happened here, myself but... the main issue is this: I believe that since I did the most recent air update, video seeks no longer work while the video is paused.  Basically meaning, I can't scrub through a video any more.  No compiler errors, works fine in the flash environment, just stopped working (immediately after an adobe update) when running the actual air app.
Details if you want 'em: I write somewhat large video apps where I work, and to help some of the others there, I've written some air apps that let them scrub through the videos, etc.  I'm quite certain it happened right after an air update, 'cause I was using one of the apps myself just fine, when an adobe update window appeared.  Pretty sure it was air.  Anyway, I let it do it.  Then when I went back to work, I could no longer scrub.  Tried re-installing air, but no go.  Then tried recompiling, but still nothing.  Oddly, like I said, I don't get compiler errors, and it works in the flash environment when I test movie.  Just won't work on the external air app.  Basically, I'm doing this:
    click on scrubber
       pause movie
       start scrubber drag
    while dragging scrubber
seek to location based on scrubber position
    release scrubber
       stop scrubber drag
       resume movie
When i release the scrubber, the movie will resume from the proper new location based on the final scrubber position, but the movie just sits frozen during the scrubbing process, so you can't see where you are in the movie while scrubbing.  I can display other stuff, like the scrubber position.  but the video just won't seek.  worked until the second I got that update.
Anyway, been searching but havn't seen anyone else complaining about this.  Maybe air's not as popular as I wish it was.  It's even possible that my feeble old brain missed something and this is a windows 7 thing, but I'm quite certain I was using it and it was fine the instant it broke, 'cause that update window appeared and made me shut my app down to do the update.  Tried rolling back to a previous version of air, but that doesn't seem possible.  Thanks to anyone who has any ideas about this.

I had the same problem(I couldn´t see myself neither the other person, but the other person could see me).
I have solved it doing this:
Log into your Gmail account > Settings > Labs. Enable Video Chat Enhancement lab. Save change. Restart Gmail. Test video.
And now I can see myself and the other person.

  • "Update Library Files"  Has stopped working for one library item.

I have one library file that isn't updating.  It was working yesterday and I made a change to one of the links and it has stopped updating that file completely.  I'm not very experienced in Dreamweaver.
I've tried deleting the file out of the library and even putting the template one back in there with the and only changing a spelling and it will not update.  Everything else works fine, I've attached a video first showing that my menu_side works fine and upadates but my menu_top does not.

try the blind export to .idml script at Adobe Community: InDesign 6 is crashing when attempting to open a particular document. All others are opening OK.

  • EA1 - Double click on package/package body member stopped working?

SQL Developer version 4.0.0.12, Windows XP
Connections -> Packages -> expanding members of package / package body -> double click on package member does nothing (in previous version of SQL Dev it opened package / package body in editor and repositioned to double-clicked function / procedure)

    Bugged as 17157410.
    Workaround:
    1. open pl/sql module in the editor.
    2. Ctx menu -> Quick Outline...
    3. Dockable panel with the same member structure (+filter) opens.
    4. There drill down action (single mouse click) works.

  • Multitouch stopped working in Snow Leopard (probable driver issue)

I'm using a MBP I purchased during the summer of 2008, with Snow Leopard and Windows 7, running in boot camp.
Yesterday, I attempted to update my drivers in Windows 7 so that I'd have some way to right-click when I don't have an external mouse handy. Well, that was a mess — the Mac OSX Install CD 1 wouldn't even run in Windows 7 for me, so I tried manually finding the trackpad drivers on the CD and installing them, but Windows was convinced that its own drivers (created by Microsoft, and with no multitouch support, of course) were more "up-to-date" and wouldn't let me install them. I tried un-installing those drivers, re-installing boot camp (boot camp 2.0), and all with no effect.
Well, today, I restarted my computer into the Snow Leopard OS, and was quite surprised to find out that my multitouch features in OSX were gone! More specifically, "pinch-to-zoom" and "two-finger-rotate" have stopped working. Two-finger scroll and right-click are still fine. I can only assume that this has something to do with my experiments on the Windows 7 side of the computer, but how that's possible is beyond me.
Note: I installed Snow Leopard via a family pack, and I don't have the CD at the moment. What I do have is the original OSX Install CD (regular leopard?), but I can't find any way to roll back drivers without reverting to the older version of OSX, which I'd prefer not to do. I do have Time Machine installed, although I don't know how I'd go about using that to fix an issue like this. Does anyone have suggestions, or a way that I might be able to roll my drivers back? (Or, in a perfect world, get multitouch working in Windows 7, as well?)
    Thanks!

So, after two restarts, my multitouch features are back in action for OSX. :/
Still not sure what was wrong, though.

  • Mail 4.6 stopped working in Snow Leopard

I am running Snow Leopard and Mail version 4.6. I have never had any troubles but starting today I keep getting a login error on the server. I know there is nothing wrong with my email account or password as I can get to my mail with my iPhone or webmail. Has the mail client stopped supporting IMAP to the iCloud mail server?

I believe the problem is that Apple was having trouble with an authentication server. The problem seems to have resolved itself.

  • IPhoto - Video playing doesn't work with Snow Leopard.

Under Leopard, I use to be able to download photos and small video content from my camera straight into iPhoto. If I wanted to play a video in iPhoto, I just use to double click and Quicktime would open and play the video. Now, with Snow Leopard, nothing happens when I do this. Am I doing something stupid or is this another bug?
    Thanks.

For anybody who stumbles across this thread from Google:
I had the same issue using iPhoto '08 after upgrading to 10.6. I found a CNet article that describes the fix, which is basically that we have to re-install Quicktime 7 for use with '08 from the "Optional Installs" on the Snow Leopard disc, so you will end up with both Quicktime 10 and Quicktime 7 on your computer.
    The instructions are here:
