Double click title bar to minimize?

Hello, before I "upgrade" to iTunes 12, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if double clicking on the iTunes title bar minimizes the iTunes window?
For some unknown reason, Apple eliminated this functionality in iTunes 11, even though this is the way every other application/window behaves under OS X and is an option in the Dock.  Thanks much for replies.

iTunes 11 - isn't this a title bar?
It looks the same as (for instance) Activity Monitor.  But with Activity Monitor (and every other app with this top bar look), double clicking on the bar minimimes the window.  Not so for iTunes 11.  So are you saying it just looks like a title bar, but isn't?

  • Upgraded to Firefox 29.0 (Mac) and can now no longer minimize browser window by double-clicking title bar. Please advise!

    I recently upgraded to Firefox 29.0 (Mac) and can now no longer my minimize browser window into the dock by double-clicking the title bar. I need to be able to use this feature. Please advise!

    I just upgraded to iTunes 8.0.1.11 too (XP) and am seeing the same behavior. The little mini controller in the taskbar no longer works. If you double click the icon in the system tray, you can restore the iTunes window.
    On the Advanced preferences tab, select both the "Show iTunes icon in system tray"
    and the "Minimize iTunes window to system tray" checkboxes. If only the "Show iTunes icon in system tray" is selected, you will not be able to restore the iTunes window and will have to use the task manager to kill iTunes.
    Hope this gets fixed, I found the task bar controller very handy for pausing/starting/volume control/etc.

  • Applications no long minimize when double clicking top bar in snow leopard

    Applications no long minimize when double clicking top bar in snow leopard. Got to be a snow leopard thingy because I just switched. whats the new deal now. Snow leopard has already screwedup just about all my 3rd party apps. they just cant keep up. **** frustrating.

    Look in System Preferences, Appearance pane.
    See if the "Double-click a window's title bar to minimize" is checked.

  • On Mac, trying to double-click at top to minimize gives me another tab instead

    and I HATE it. There is no space at the top now to double-click to send the app to the dock. I do this constantly, and now every time I do it I have to try about 4-5 times to do it and it just really pisses me off. There was no reason to change this. I'm already packed with memory leaks due to all the add-ons to try to do basic things and configure the browser to how it looked in the past when it was more useful. PLEASE, please stop changing things for no reason. Please focus on memory leaks, and leave working designs alone.

    I've been annoyed by this for awhile and finally took the time to find the solution. Why the default changed in one of the recent FF updates is beyond me. Totally irritating.
    1. Make sure you have "Double-click a window's title bar to minimize" clicked (on) in your System Preferences. It's either under General, Appearance, or Dock preferences, depending on which version of OS X you are running.
    2. In the title bar type: "about:config" (no quotes) and hit return.
    3. Click on the button that says, "I'll be careful. I promise!"
    4. Scroll down until you find "browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick" and double-click on that line to change the value to "false".
    Everything should work the way it used to, minimizing the window, when you double-click the title bar.

  • Why did the browser window's title bar, menu, minimize, maximize, and close buttons all disappear, and how do I get them back?

    I am literally stuck in Firefox. Suddenly the window changed to full screen mode, and the title bar and Firefox menu disappeared, along with the close, minimize, and maximize buttons. All I can access are the menu bar and open browser tabs.
    I can't even access my dock (on Mac), which usually pops up when I mouse over the bottom of the screen.
    So, the only way it seems I can get out of Firefox is to shut down my computer by pressing the power button. Unless there is some keyboard shortcut. I tried command-11 but that just switched between open my browser tabs.
    FYI i have no idea what Ubuntu is and don't think I'm using it (that name seems to pop up when I google this problem)
    Oh yeah, also I'm using Firefox 3.6.2 because my elderly Mac is running on OSX 10.4.11. Have never had any problems with it before.

    IN your iTunes library, does the movie appear with a cloud on it for downloading?
    is the movie still in the iTunes Store?
    iTunes purchases the rights to sell a movie, but those are for a time limit.  If the right expires and apple doesn't renew, the movie is no longer available for download and must be saved in your library.   I suggest backing up your movies ASAP.  Check the store for this movie, perhaps it is still available.

  • Click title bar JDialog ecvent

    Hello,
    I would like to detect the click down and up on a JDialog's titlebar in
    order to to listen when the jdialog's move ends.
    I already implemented a ComponentAdapter for my JDialog. I implemented
    the componentMoved() method to replace my JDialog in a specific place,
    on the screen.
    public void componentMoved(ComponentEvent e) {
    final Window win = (Window) e.getComponent();
    Dimension screenSize = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();
    final int yB = screenSize.height/3;
    if (win.getY() < yB){
    SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable(){
    public void run(){
    //replace the jdialog
    win.setLocation(new Point(win.getX(), yB));
    When I drag and drop quickly my jdialog, there is no problem. But, when
    I move my JDialog, and click up slowly my JDialog, it stays at the
    place. It doesn't move to my specific place.
    Could you help me ?
    I use Redhat 5 and Kde. I use JDK 6. Is it a kde-jvm communication
    problem ? or a KDE bug ??

    In the future, Swing related questions should be posted in the Swing forum.
    You can't add listeners to the title bar unless you use:
    JFrame.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(true);
    Then you need to use the UI to get the actual title bar component.
    If you need further help then you need to create a [Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE)|http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html], that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour.
    Don't forget to use the Code Formatting Tags so the posted code retains its original formatting. That is done by selecting the code and then clicking on the "Code" button above the question input area.

  • Detecting when user clicks title bar of TitleWindow

    I am just beginning to dabble in Flex and am loving it so
    far. I can't seem to figure out how to detect when a user clicks
    the title bar of a TitleWindow. Could someone please give an
    example of the correct way to detect this? How do you tell the
    application to dispatch an event only when the title bar is clicked
    and not the contents of the TitleWindow.
    Thanks!
    Josh

    Subclass TitleBar and add a mouseDown event handler to the
    protected titleBar property (of type UIComponent). That event
    handler will execute when a person clicks down in the header.

  • I can't open a second playlist window in iTunes 11!? And no double-clicking the title bar to minimize to dock?!

    Please tell me I'm overlooking something. These are two functions I use all the time. Really quite bummed about my inability to open a second playlist window, as I manually manage my playlists and I'm frequently grabbing chunks of songs and transfering to other playlists, but with some of the playlists being 1,000 songs long, simply dropping a handful of songs over the playlist name in the left column results in all the songs being at the end of the very long playlist. Not what I want.
    Thanks for any light you can shed on this!

    Thanks for the reply.
    However, I don't understand your answer.
    To refresh my memory, I just now selected a jpg. image and opened it with PSE 10. When PSE 10 opened, there was my image, ready to be worked with. However, when I repeated the exact same thing with with PSE 11, PSE 11 opened a blank page and I had to go to the Open menu and reopen my image. I don't understand why this extra step is required with PSE 11.
    The screen shot you suggested means nothing to me in post http://forums.adobe.com/message/4876725#4876725 as I've no idea where it comes from or what I'm looking at.
    Can you provide further details?
    Thanks.

  • I Already checked the general preferences box "double click titlebar to minimize windows," all applications responding to this command EXCEPT for Safari, why?

    I thought that I had done something wrong, but it appears that Safari is indeed unresponsive to the double click title bar to minimize command.
    All my other applications are responsive to this, but not Safari.
    Also, maybe someone could help me by answering these questions:
    how it is possible to save safari browsers with the tabs that are open, so when I exit out and reopen safari I can resume where I was before?
    why is it that I don't see that little red circle with the number at the bottom of the Safari icon that tells me how many browser windows are currently open so I can juggle between them?
    Why is it that you can no longer click on the application icon to shrink the window? I am positive that this was possible on previous mac OS.

    I had missed that double-click title bar was no longer working in Safari (I really miss windowshading and tabbed finder windows!), until I read this thread from sharoo..
    Carolyn Samit wrote:

    Since it's application specific, to to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
    Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.
    I'm seeing the same problem now. Tried deleting Cache.db, also deleted Preferences:com.apple.Safari.plist in reference to another thread; still don't get any response to double-clicking title bar. Lately, I usually do it accidentally, but it would seem to be a handy shortcut, especially since it's advertised as being present.
    Note: I just tried it in other applications, and I don't see minimizing with double-click anywhere, and can't find any preferences setting for it. [Panic sets in... - am I losing my mind?] I tried looking in the Secrets prefpane, with no luck there either.
    What am I missing?
    Has this been changed? I also noticed that the green (right-size) button behaves differently now, and there are several ways to arrange icons in the finder, some like the old way, some very different and confusing (I may have figured that out, but have to retry when I get there).

  • Is it possible to disable title bar double clicking response?

    Hello,
    I run apps under the Wine simulator and for some reason double clicks inside the window are registering as title bar double clicks *and* application clicks, causing the window to go full screen (or to collapse to the dock if that setting is enabled) as well as the expected behavior of selecting what I clicked.
    Plus, I find the double click title bar action to be annoying and would like to disable it in general.
    Its it even possible to disable this?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply, Lanny.
    Unfortunately, that just reverses the problem for me...
    If the option is checked, the app will minimize if I double click in the window body
    If the option is un-checked, the app will go full screen if I double click in the window body
    I'd like to prevent any action when double clicking the title bar, if possible.

  • Double-click a title bar to won't open or hide in Mountain Lion

    I can not get my windows to open or hide with double-clicking like I've been doing for years (new computer). I have the double-click a window's title bar to minimize selected in the dock, still not working. Please help, driving me nuts. I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.5

    The preference has been moved in Mountain Lion. It is now System Preferences>Dock>Double click a window's title bar to minimize

  • Why can't I double-click to minimize all App windows to the Dock in Yosemite?

    I am running the Yosemite 10.10.3 (14D131). I have checked the Dock preference 'Double-click a window's title bar to minimize', but not all App windows will actually minimize to the Dock - why? Apple Apps should behave consistently.
    These apps behave as expected:
    Safari
    Mail
    Terminal
    Preview
    Pages
    Messages
    FaceTime
    App Store
    iBooks
    TextEdit
    Terminal
    These apps DO NOT behave as expected:
    Reminders
    Notes
    Calculator
    iTunes
    Contacts

    Not a feature. In fact, there's no way, using just Illustrator, to extract embedded images. But then, it's only at version THIRTEEN! I save a PDF using no downsampling or compression, then open in Photoshop. When you open a PDF in Photoshop you are given the option to rasterize any pages or extract images embedded in the PDF. Choose Images then select the images you want. Save as TIF or PSD and re-link in Illustrator.
    Yes, it is stupid.

  • Bug: Lost the double-click minimize, Mac OS 9 like collapsable windows?

    I have no idea what happened to my system, but every time I try to minimize any open windows of any application using the typical double-clicking of the title bar, it doesn't go to the dock but rather collapses in a Mac OS 9'esque view that leaves only a slim sliver of the title bar.
    The minimize yellow button does send it to the dock still, but for some reason, even with the "Double-click a window's title bar to minimize." checked in Preferences, I can't double click the title bar to do the same task.
    How would I go about fixing this?

    Appears that you've installed WindowShade. Deactivate it and all should be well.

  • Double Click Window to Close

    I just replaced my iMac with a Pro (10.8.2). On my iMac I used to double click a window banner to minimize the window. Doesn't seem to work on this one. I've checked System Preferences and Accessibility. Is it possible to select this behavior? Thanks.
    jor

    See System Preferences -> Dock. (Odd place to put the preference, but it is somewhat Dock-related.) There's a check box there to allow double clicks on the title bar to minimize windows to the Dock.

  • Remove Title Bar From Form, Visual C# Express

    I have been told to set the Border to 0 or "none".
    I was also told to set the ControlBox to False.  This only removed the minimize, maximize and exit icons.
    There is no Border setting on the Form Properties.  Is that in the Ultimate version?
    Otherwise, what code do I use to remove the title entirely?
    In games like Starcraft 2, there is a transparent title bar with minimize, maximize and exit styled to fit the game visuals.  I would be interested in that, too.  Is that c++ only, though?

    set Forms ControlBoxproperty
    to false and Text property
    to empty
    this.ControlBox = false;
    this.Text = String.Empty;
