Double contacts on iPad from iPad 2 cloud sync?

WHy do I have double contacts on my iPad 2 after iCloud sync?

Response to Edit or Delete Buttons....they do not exist on IPad2 4.3.5.

I have the same problem, and need to delete some incorrect email addresses, or modify the name to something like "Invalid email", or change the email address to be something I recognize as unusable.
I have an Ipad2 version 4.3.5. There is no Edit button or a Delete Contact button on Contacts. Maybe those appear when a user has all their Contacts on ICloud?  I do not have ICloud, an IPhone to sync to, or a phone service for my IPad2.
In a new email, when I type in the bad email address, and press on it, all I get is a screen with the person's email address and no name, and no buttons to Edit or Delete it, and no way to enter something like "Invalid" for name.
When I press and hold on the Name in the TO line, pressing on + sign on right edge, brings up another screen with a list of all Contacts. But no way to delete or modify them.
In Settings, there is only a choice of Sort Order or Display Order.
The problem is that the good and bad email addresses start with the same people's names.
How do I delete the bad email addresses, please?
