Double copies of gmail

i receive mail via my mobile me account and gmail on my macbook 6.2
suddenly I am receiving 2 copies of every gmail that I receive. Any idea of how to change it back to just one. The odd part is: if I delete one of the two copies, they both delete at the same time. ideas?

Close all windows and quit all applications.
Hold the option key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.
Select "Library" from the dropdown, then "Preferences" folder.
    Look for these two files.

i just copied some music from my external hard disc to my macbook . how can i make all that music be shown in my iTunes without having double copies of the music??

    Hello Sudhanshu Mishra,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
You can have iTunes reference the content where ever it is on your HDD without copying the content to the iTunes library, thus using twice the space.
If iTunes is set to "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library," iTunes will copy all content that is added to the iTunes library to the iTunes Music folder. To adjust this setting or change the location of this folder, go to the Advanced tab in iTunes Preferences.
From: Adding music and other content to iTunes
              http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1473
Additionally if you want the content to then ALSO be located in your iTunes Library folder so everything is all kept together nice and tidy, use this:
Consolidate your files in the iTunes folder
Depending on how you imported items into iTunes, some items in your library might be stored in different locations (in another folder or on another hard disk, for example).
You can consolidate all the files in your library in the iTunes folder—for example, to make it easier to move your library to a new computer.
Choose File > Library > Organize Library.
Select “Consolidate files.”Files remain in their original locations, and copies are placed in the iTunes folder.
To create folders (Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Audiobooks, and so on) inside your iTunes folder, and place all your imported media files in the appropriate folders, select “Reorganize files in the folder ‘iTunes Media.’”

  • Getting double copies (copy and past) of cast names in IMDb, older browser didn't do this.

I have a personal movie database I designed myself. I have always been able to copy and paste the cast list from IMDb to my database until I "upgraded" my browser from v.17 to v.27. Now I get double copies of the cast names and descriptions of the characters jump down and extra line. This is a very big aggravation to me. When I want to work with my database I have to use an older browser. Is there anything in "about:config" that I can change to correct this? The same thing happens between IE8 and IE11. What gives?

Yes, I have tried 31. The tabs were stuck on top and not changeable. I consider the tabs as part of the web page but the address bar is NOT. It would be nice to keep good features rather than "upgrading" away from them. Seems too many programs are just in a version race with total dis-regards to the users.

  • Dup or double copies of contact after syncing

    Hi
I have had this problem with my Treo 650 when I sync with the Address Book and now the same thing with the iPhone.
I believe it is something I am doing wrong. Here is what I can tell that I know of.
    1. My addressbook ap has about 2400 contacts in it
    2. I set up a sync to .mac sometime ago. The addressbook on the .mac web page shows about 7000 contacts... mostly dups. I deleted that, but that is time concumming. I have unregister my Mac for the .mac and then re-register, but the 7000 contacts came back.
    3. Any way is also true on the iPhone. There is a allot of dups on my iPhone.
Does anyone have a suggestion that could help me fix this problem.
Btw, the dups are not exact copies. Some time the dup are part of the contact information
    Thanks
    Ron

    Hi All
I call the apple support concerning this issue. It trues out that an application called "Missing Sync for Palm OS", that I was using for the Treo 650 has messed up the linking between iTunes, Addressbook and others. Once I removed it and ran iSync to relink all the sync devises the dup or double copying of contacts went away.
    Therefore this is fixed

  • Double copies of every message

I don't know if this is a .Mac issue, Mail issue, or both. I recently synced with my work computer (first time ever) and wanted to use all the .Mac features finally.
Well, as it turns out they have some kind of bandwidth block after a certain point, so quickly my Mac was booted from the network.
Anyway, I've since disabled Mail syncing, but ever since, my IMAP .Mac account has been downloading two copies of every message I get, thereby threading every one into two, which means I have to open each thread to even read the single message.
I would appreciate if anybody knew of a way to reset mail without me losing what I currently have saved there. I switched from Entourage to Thunderbird to Mail, so this has been rather... harrowing, but everything was working fine until the double-download problem began.

I'm having a hard time understanding what the problem is.
In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. With that folder open, do Edit > Select All (⌘A), then Edit > Copy (⌘C), and paste it in your reply to this post, to let me see the names of the files and folders present at the root level of the Mail folder.
Before actually posting that information, you may edit it so that the file/folder names do not reveal any details you wish to keep private, e.g. you may replace any real username with "username" if you wish; similarly, you may disguise any domain names you don't want to be revealed. Try to be consistent in how you disguise those details, though, as we may need to refer to them in subsequent posts.

  • CS6 Photoshop saving double copies of files?

Hello! Can someone please help me!
I have two MACs, one runs cs3 photoshop and the other runs cs6 photoshop. I cannot figure out for the life of my why I can only save 614 images on my flashdrive when using cs6 and I can get almost 1900 files (from the same folder where the 614 files came from) on the same type of flash drive when I use cs3.
Does cs6 store hidden copies of each file that I open and process? Or is the image size settings set larger than they are in cs3? Can anyone please advise or give any sense of direction on how I can get this figured out. It's becoming very costly having to use 2-3 customized flashdrives per client when I should only be using one per client!
    Thanks!

If I were to venture a guess, I would look at "Maximize Compatibility" settings in both CS3 and CS6 Preferences under File Handling.
"Always" will insure other programs can read PSD files, but will increase file size.
"Never" will turn off compatibility features, and will reduce file size, but no telling if the file can be read if your clients are using other programs that may need that feature when reading PSD files.
"Ask" will remember if you turned it on or not:
In the same File handling area is an option for Image Previews as well. You can turn that off and see if it reduces file size, but no telling if that might be a problem.
Also under Preferences > General in CS6 is a History log that will write details to the file metadata. Some places check it as a way to keeps records for client billing. I've never used it,so I can't say if that's adds much to file size.
    Just a few ideas,

  • Double copies of photos

Hi i am finding some problem with my iphone i.e. i installed icloud to my iphone form then onwords in am getting two copies of photos in my picture gallary
one is my camera rool and other two are showing like photo library and the one which i linked to the folder in my PC. both the photo library and my folder which i created in my pc both are having same pics and consuing lot of memory. Later i kept all the options of icloud off in the settings but still it is showing two groups of pics. same with the contacts i am getting the contacts like all contacts and mobile contacts. its became very problem for me with two kinds of contacts. when i save a contact in all contacts its no adding to mobile contacts... can any one help me with this issues will be very helpful for me...

As far as pics,  this is correct and has always been the case.Nothing is wrong.  There are not two copies of the photos.  This is how iphone has always handled photos.
Photo library will always be there and will always give you access to all pics synced to your iphone from your computer.  You can also access those very saem photos ( there are not two copies) from the individual folders that you synced.
    Not sure about contacts.

  • Ipod/iphoto double copies

i wanted to see my iphotos on my ipod...so...i turned on download 'pictures' hoping that ipod and iphoto would simply link...instead ipod made a whole 5 Gig copy of the photos which is now stored in the iphoto picture file thereby eating up even more space on my mac. i now have 2 copies of all the photos on the mac.
any method to link ipod and iphoto and not use up space by having two copies of the photos on the mac?
    babangada

No there is no solution and no the modified versions are not unnecessary
You camera and phone simply place a flag in the photos saying it needs to be rotated - this is fine for viewing a photo but not for processing or editing a photo - to process a photo it needs to be in the correct orientation- this is why iPhoto (and as far as I know all other Digital Asset Managers) take flagged photos and created a new version in the correct orientation
If you do not want this then you need to find a different program - it is the way iPhoto works

  • How do I keep from Sending Double Copies

Every time I send a PDF document to an email address, it goes TWICE. Even if I send it to myself, I get 2 copies. I can't find any way to correct this. Anyone else having the same problem, or know a fix? I have the most current/free downloadable Adobe Acrobat. Polly

Recently, someone I know had a similar (maybe same) problem on a Windows
machine. E-mails sent from programs or with right-click/ 'Send to'/ 'Mail
recipient' was sent twice, unless she was saving the generated e-mail in the
'Drafts' folder and sending it later directly from Outlook (or Outlook
Expres, not sure which she was using). The problem was a corrupt install of
Norton Antivirus, which was intercepting outgoing e-mails to scan them, and
somehow this resulted in two copies being sent. Another symptom was that if
'File'/ 'Work offline' was checked, the e-mail was being sent instead of
only being saved into the 'Ouput' folder of the mail client.
So, if you have an antivirus that scans outgoing mail, try repairing/
    reinstalling it.

  • Solution: Syncing with my iTunes library an endless headache: Songs don't transfer, or songs transfer and show up as "other," or I get double copies, or "Over Capacity," or stuck on "waiting for changes to be applied."

iPod Touch 5g, 64GB, iOS 7.1. After my iPod data began showing up "Other," after an abrupt disconnection from iTunes during a sync I've spent the last week trying to fix it only to be thwarted at every attempt.  I've tried resetting and restoring 6 or 7 times now, and all goes well until it gets to copying my library of music over.  What I finally figured out is that 8,000+ songs is too many for iTunes to process all at once for some reason.
After several nights of leaving it connected all night I would find that the songs had physically copied and were occupying the ~45 gb of space on my iPod's storage, but were not showing up on my local library, instead listed as "Other" in iTunes and otherwise unusuable, or they would show up, but I'd have ~45 gigs of "Other," 45 gigs of "Audio," and would be "Over Capacity," by 30 gigs or so.  OR it would be "Waiting for Changes to be Applied," for 12+ hours.
My work around:  In iTunes, under the "Music" / "Sync Music" tab, instead of syncing "Entire Music Library," select "Selected Playlists, Artists, Albums, and Genres."  You will have to indivually select the playlists, artists, albums, or genres and kept each bulk tansfer to <2000 songs at a time.  The easiest way for me to do this was by selecting one genre at a time and copying it over.  I had already taken the time to organize my library into 10 genres, you probably have more than 10.  This is irritating and time consuming, but it's better than resetting my iPod over and over and over again to no avail.
Waiting for Changes? What iTunes is actually doing when it says it is "Waiting for Changes," or "Waiting for Items to Copy."  iTunes for whatever reason does not reveal the relevent data being processed during a sync (didn't it used to?), but there are a couple ways you can decipher what it is actually up to.  The first option is on the iPod; under Settings>General>iTunes Wi-Fi Sync it will tell you what it is up to during syncing.  The other way on the iPod; under Music>Songs, scroll all the way to the bottom to see where it is at in the process.  What iTunes, iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, and the bottom of the Songs library report are not always in agreement, but seeing all three will give you a better approximation of where you are in the syncing process and whether or not it is hanging.
This for me was successful as a workaround, but this is not a solution.  Apple needs to fix this crap.  Maybe they just want to make it so difficult to have a physical library of music on the local storage of the iPod that we will just give up and sign up for their Match service.

ALSO, on the iPod under Settings>General>iTunes Sync, you may need to back out of the "iTunes Wi-fi Sync," and reopen it to get it to update.
    (I use iTunes 11.1.5.5)

  • Single copies of songs in iTunes library/double copies of songs on iPod.

I bought an album from the iTunes Store. A friend later gave me the same album in CD form, so I ripped the disc onto my computer so that I could have non-DRM protected files of the music. Now my iTunes library included both the DRM protected files from the iTunes Store as well as the non-DRM protected files from the CD.
At first, I did not bother to trash the files from the iTunes Store. But then it began to bug me that there were 2 versions of the same songs for the entire album that got put on my iPod/iPhone when I performed a sync.
So I went into my iTunes library on my computer, deleted the DRM protected files from the iTunes Store leaving only the non-DRM protected files from the CD and synced my iPhone.
So why is it that my iPod/iPhone still has both version of the songs even though my iTunes library only shows the non-DRM protected version from the CD that I ripped?

  • Vertical Photos?? Double copies!?

I've imported a few vertical photos from my camera into Iphoto. It automatically makes duplicates of these photos in the modified folders - which annoys me because it's a waste of space. The originals of the photos are displayed as vertical too either when viewed by iPhoto or Preview etc.. When I "revert to original", iPhoto automatically re-creates the duplicate again! How can I stop this behavior? Is this normal? Can't it just display my original as vertical when I click on it without making a modified duplicate??

However, wouldn't my photo then appear normal (i.e. sideways) in the original, but only vertical in the modified version?
Depends on how you view it - preview, and probably most other viewers, follow the camera's instruction and rotate the impage to display it - if you have a viewer that does not then you will see it un-rotated.
And how stupid is it that when I select, "revert to original", it continues to make the modified version. The program should be smart enough to just either know that's what I want, or ask, don't you think?
I don't think so - I like knowing that my "ORIGINAL" is ALWAYS preserved
In any case this forum is NOT to discuss Apple policies - forbidden by the terms of use. Is is strictly a user forum to provide assistance in what is implemented. To provide your ideas to Apple go to the iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback - this is NOT the place to do that. The users here can, sometimes, explain to you how thing work based on their personal experience and can, sometimes, help you with how to use the software based on their personal experience and can, sometimes, help with workaround they have discovered for things that do not work the way you would like. But the users here can not change anything and can not speculate on Apple decisions (per the terms of use)

  • Double copies of CC apps installed-Why, and how to delete?

    HI,
I installed Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, and Indesign CC on my machine (W7, 64-bit). I noticed that I now have Photoshop CC 64-bit version and Photoshop CC (I presume 32-bit version) installed on my machine. Ditto for Illustrator CC and Indesign CC.
    What is this happening?
How do i delete the 32-bit versions?
    Phil

I've just has two weeks of frustration with the new CC versions.
As you so rightly illustrated, you can't uninstall just the 32bit Photoshop... I tried and then had to have two online support sessions to get my system back to "normal" !!
I said it to the support engineer and I will say it again here. "What ever happened to the wonderful stable Adobe software that we all loved? CC is a great idea, but I have lost more than a week of income whilst I tried to recover my system. This is not an isolated case unfortunately, so please, do not try to just uninstall just the 32bit version.
We obviously have to live with a Photoshop app that takes up 2 gigs of disk space... hmmm, I can remember that not so long ago 2 gigs was a big disk!
