Double image when exporting versions

Hi, I exported a version of a RAW file to PS CS2 for editing with no problems but subsequently all other versions I exported from Aperture will have a double image of the initial file sandwiched together regardless whether I open it with Preview or PS. However, there are no such problem if I drag the thumbnail from Aperture to Desktop before opening it.
What have I done wrong???

Hi Firstlaunch,
what I did was wrong. I should have used "Open with external editor" instead of "Export Versions", which is low res jpegs in my preference setting. Anyway, I then open these jpegs with PS CS2 and got on with my editing. The edited pics are then re-imported to Aperture and that's where the problem began. All exported jpegs from then on will have a double-image/multi exposure of the first pic I exported.
I can't show you screen shot cos I've since trashed all the file on Aperture and re-installed everything. I still don't know what caused the problem but I'm doing it the right way now and everything's fine. Thanks.

  • When exporting versions (from DNG-to JPEG org size) they get very smal?

when exporting versions in aperture (from DNG-to JPEG org size) they get very smal? Why cant they stay the same size and kvalety as the DNG?

How are you exporting? If you are dragging the image out of Aperture you get the preview, you are not exporting the version.
If you are exporting then the most likely reason for what you see is the setting on the Quality slider. Remember JPG images are  compressed and you will always see a difference between the original and the exported JPG.

  • In aperture 3.4.5, I get unsupported file error when exporting version of photo I've edited using plugins?

In aperture 3.4.5, I get unsupported file error when exporting version of photo I've edited using plugins. I have try reinstalling aperture three times, deleting plists a few times, reinstalling plugins, restarting my MacBook Pro many times. Everything I've tried may fix the problem for a very short while and I can export a few photos before it returns. The problem happens with topaz and photomatrix pro plugins after I edited and try to export version.

I had the same problem with the Photomatix plug-in and this solved it for me. I realised it only happened with Photomatix and not other plug-ins so I checked where the plug-ins were installed. The Photomatix plug-in was installed in
    ~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/
where ~ is the home location for the current user account. All the other plug-ins however were installed in
    Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/
which is the location that makes them available to all user accounts on your Mac. Moving the Photomatix plug-in to this location solved the problem for me.
Note that the Library directory under the first location is normally hidden, to get to it hold down the Option (Alt) key and select it from the Finder Go menu.

  • Display metadata on image when exporting?

I have a client who would like to see a date & time stamp displayed in a corner of all the images when I export them from RAW files. Is this possible in LR 3.4, and if so, can someone please tell me how/where to look? I've been all over it, can't find it.
    Thanks

Don't think LR/Mogrify 2 works in LR5.6. I can't get it to put anything on the image when exporting.

  • Double Images when copied to CD

I have an album of photos which I copied to CD in the following manner. I made a folder on my desktop and dragged (I may have exported them from iPhoto instead of dragging but at the moment I am not sure which I used) 68 photos to the folder. I then copied the folder to a CD and then burnt it. When I try to show it on a DVD player which plays CD jpeg images, it shows 119 photos. When it lists the jpeg's I find that about 49 of them are doubled up, ie: img1867, 1mg1868, etc and there is a total of 119 jpegs show up. When the CD is played, a blank screen appears on the double image, which stays on screen for quite some time, therefore ruining the effect of the images.
The strange thing is, that when I put that disc into my eMac, it only shows 68 images in the folder. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.
PS One thing that I wonder about is that my digital camera had a numbering system that went up to 9,999. I have since gone over that mark, therefore I do have images that are starting to duplicate the original numbers in my iPhoto library. Also, my camera seems to be reverting to zero at times when I download a new set and I therefore have image numbers that are doubling and tripling up. I have my iPhoto library arranged by date, so I presume that is keeping the photos sorted properly even though there are similar image numbers.

I have made another CD following your directions, ie: Make folder on desktop, drag photos from album into folder. I then dragged the images from the folder onto the CD and proceeded to burn it. When I tried playing it on my DVD player through a TV, it again doubled many of the images. (There should have been 68 images from the folder, but the readout on the TV (from the DVD player) indicates 119). I tried a CD that a Windows friend had burned with jpeg images on it and it performed flawlessly. One thing I did notice, was that the title of the Windows CD came up on screen, ie: 'Rockies 2005' along with the listing of the jpeg images, when the Stop button was pressed on the remote. Howevever in mine, the word (Root) in brackets appeared in lieu of a name. Would this be indicative of something? An error also comes up on screen 'Corrupt File'. So, the same problem exists. I hope there may still be Hope?! Thanks Peter and Bri. Cheers.

  • ID CS hangs on one particular image when exporting to pdf

I use ID 3.01, and have created a two-page folder, with 10 images. I cannot create a pdf, because ID hangs when downloading one image during the export process. It's an 8-bit CMYK Tiff, one layer only, saved without compression. The only thing that makes this image different, is that it has some InDesign text and graphics on top of it. (I tried to remove all the text and graphics, and I also tried embedding the images before exporting, but it made no difference)
The image opens without any problems in Photoshop, and is editable. I have also tried to do a Save As under a new name, which didn't help. The image originates from my Nikon D70, but so do other images too.
The folder is due to be printed on Thursday, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

As this is a camera original file, are its resolution settings in a normal range? I.e., verify in PhotoShop that it's not trying to put >5000 pixels into either 0.1 inch or 5000 inch (your numbers may vary).
I've had ID behave erratically with such files, which was solved when I changed the resolution settings in PS.

  • Shuddering of image when exported to Quicktime

I've just edited a 13 minute video. I am experiencing such bad shuddering with the image on export to DVD and Quicktime it really can't be watched. It's been explained to me that it could be the rendering process. Here is what occurred:
    1) Video was shot on Panasonic SDR-H80. Standard Def hand held camera. It records onto hard-drive in the camera. Recorded on aspect ratio 16.9. The manual says the 'signal system' is CCIR: 625 lines, 50 fields PAL colour signal.
This camera is not compatible with Final Cut Pro, so...
    2) I downloaded MPEG Steamclip to convert EVERY clip into Quicktime movies and imported them into FCP.
    3) Settings: Here's what I did:
    Easy Set up.
Sequence Preset: DV PAL 48 KHZ
Capture Preset: DV PAL 48 KHZ
Device Control Preset: FireWire PAL (this might be the wrong setting as I imported the files?)
Playback Output Video: None (not sure how this happened)
    Playback Output Audie: Default
Edit to Tape/PTV Output Video: None
Edit to Tape/PTV Output Audie: None.
In System Preferences I set my scratch disks to the appropriate folders I set up for the project.
Audio/Video Settings set to: DV PAL 48 Khz (Sequence Preset and Capture Preset). Device Control Preset: Firewire PAL
Video Playback: None (only other option was Digital Cinema Desktop Main - didn't know what this was, so left it)
    Audio Playback: Default
In User Preferences I just checked the Render folder and it was set to: Render and Playback for 'Filters' 'Frame Blending for Speed' and 'Motion Blur' and Render 'Playback' 100% and Resolution '100%'
If anyone has any suggestions as to why this 'shuddering' seems to be occuring I'd appreciate your thoughts.
    I am based in Australia.

+2) I downloaded MPEG Steamclip to convert EVERY clip into Quicktime movies and imported them into FCP.+
You missed posting your conversion settings details.

  • Aperture locks up when Exporting Versions

After upgrading from 2.1.2 to 2.1.3, whenever I export versions Aperture locks up until the export completes and I cannot do anything in the meantime. Sometimes this is accompanied by the SPOD and sometimes not. Also, the time taken to export varies greatly, by up to a factor of 3.
In effect, all these problems mean that I don't have background processing which was one of the big improvements of v2.1.
    Regards,
    Terry

I'm having the very same problem. This is bad news.  I upgraded to Mavericks last week, and then had to update Aperture.  Now it says my 400+GB library has to update, and then at the end it won't complete.  I've done this with a three months older copy of the library.
Apple, you need to figure this out--I'm a working professional and now I don't have access to 4-5 years worth of work--this is serious.  My library appears to be corrupted.

  • Indesign CS4 adds square boxes around images when exporting to PDF

When I export a brochure created in InDesign to PDF, for some reason the .pdf file (only the PDF - the InDesign version doesn't show these) shows faint squares around images/graphics that have shadow effects applied. These appear around photos, as well as graphic objects that have a solid colour background, for example an orange circle. Some suggested rasterizing images in Illustrator and that didn't help. Transparency doesn't seem to be at fault either. Would anyone have any idea what may be causing this and how to remedy the problem?
FYI, the PDF export pre-sets in InDesign are as follows (I only mention options that are checked, the rest are turned off):
    COMPATIBILITY: Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4)
    GENERAL:
         HIGH QUALITY PRINT (modified)
         Export Layers:Visible & Printable Layers
    COMPRESSION:
         COLOR IMAGES:
Bicubis Downsampling to 300 pixels per inch for images above 450 pixels per inch
         Compression: Automatic JPEG
         Image Quality: Maximum
      GRAYSCALE IMAGES:
Bicubis Downsampling to 300 pixels per inch for images above 450 pixels per inch
         Compression: Automatic JPEG
         Image Quality: Maximum
      MONOCHROME IMAGES:
Bicubis Downsampling to 1200 pixels per inch for images above 1800 pixels per inch
         Compression: Automatic JPEG
         Compression: CCITT Group 4
FYI - I use Mac OSX 10.5.8 and InDesign 6.0.3.
I have attached the PDF for your review.
    With many thanks,
    Alex

BTW, don't use OSX's preview to look at PDFs created by InDesign if they take advantage of high end features such as live transparency.
Preview simply isn't up to the task and you should be using Acrobat or Reader.

  • Broken image when exported to MS power point presentation

    Hello All,
I am having issues with Xcelsius, I always export dashboard into a powerpoint presentation and for some odd reason today it shows up as a broken window.  The file I am working on has 2 .swf files along with a selector which switches between both files.  When I export the file and it opens up in powerpoint everything works smoothly but once I save it and re-open it, that's when the broken image comes up.  Please does anyone know what could be causing this issue?  I need to get this fixed asap because this is for a presentation   Below is what it looks like.

    Hi, XcelLovr
I have experienced the same thing with Microsoft Office 2007.  I had created PPT presentation, it had worked fine but after reopening it became broken. I solved this problem and now it works fine.
Unfortunately, I don't have determined solutions but I recommend to try the next things which I did:
    1. Install the FP2.1 on Xcelsius
    2. Decrease security in Powerpoint  Macro Settings -> "Enable all macros",
ActiveX Settings - "Enable all controls"
    3. Install the last version of Flash player (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/)
    4. Clean temp folders - as I understand Xcelsius firstly creates tmp file inside Temp folder then Xcelsius tries to make it embedded inside Powerpoint presentation. So, the problem can be connected with this thing.
    4. Try to manually insert Xcelsius objects into Powerpoint presentation:
        - Create SWF file inside Xcelsius
        - Create powerpoint presentation by using Microsoft Powerpoint
        - Save it as PPT (2003 version)
        - Open Developer Tab (if it's hidden you should make it visible) inside Powerpoint
        - Click Insert control on this Developer tab (icon with hammer and forceps) in Powerpoint
        - Choose Shockwave Flash Objects in appeared long list "More control"
        - Draw the control on a slide
        - Choose the control and click properties
        - Find Movie property, indicate destination of your SWF file
        - Make EmbedMovie "True" - it will put SWF file inside PPT presentation
       -  Save and check
By the way, I found a property there "FlashVars" it seems that it's possible to integrate different Xcelsius objects inside presentation by using Visual Basic and this property.
    5. Try to install Office 2003 with deleting office 2007
Perhaps, my recommendation will help you to solve the problems.

  • Warning: iOS 8 Resized My Images When Exporting Via Image Capture

I have an iPad Air and I take lots of pictures. I installed iOS 8 last night. I don't like the lack of a Photo Stream and a Camera Roll, but I am willing to try new things, so I decided to clear out all the images from my iPad and start from scratch. Unfortunately, I've run into a pretty bad reproducible bug.
First I copied all the Moments (i.e. Camera Roll) Photos on the iPad to my Mac using the Image Capture app. I've been doing this for years. Everything came out fine with those photos.
I also had several iCloud shared albums so I decided to start over with them as well. Hmm, how to copy them over to my Mac? I tapped one picture and tapped "Share -> Save Image". OK that worked! So to save some time I tapped "Select" and then tapped all the pictures in the folder. Once again I tapped "Share -> Save 20 Images". Worked fine. Deleted the shared album. Did this with five other albums. Now everything is clean and I can start figuring out how this works from scratch.
OR SO I THOUGHT. Once the pictures were on my Mac, I realized the pictures I exported one at a time were fine, but the ones I exported in groups came out at odd low resolutions - 257 x 342, 256 x 384, 268 x 332, instead of the full resolution of the original pictures.
Luckily I had copies of all these pictures backed up, but this is not appropriate behavior. There was no warning that the pictures would be saved at a lower resolution. I'm not even sure the Photos app "meant" to do this. Why weren't the full sized images exported? Has anyone else had this experience? Could someone check and see if this is happening on their iPad?

The photos in this thread are the same exported files that are in the slideshow. As you advance through the slideshow(try looking at the shadows to right of the subject and his sunglasses), you'll see a change in tone/saturation that, however subtle, is quite alarming for a consistent workflow.
I always work with calibrated display profiles, and was told by Aperture Pro support to try the export with a standard, device independent profile to rule out a display profile related issue. I told them on the phone that while I'd try it, that would not be a viable solution long term for me, or any other professional, as different screens need to have independent, calibrated profiles for a consistent working environment.
That said, regardless of the display profile(I tried multiple scenarios - including calibrated profiles), the exported file is always the same on the same machines - and as I said before, distinctly unique to each machine. The display profile should have nothing to do with it anyways, as that is simple a translation of the the 'static' data onto a specific screen. I'm not saying the screens look different to me, I'm saying that the exported files are different when viewed together on any one screen.
These are all fresh installs of the same download; no settings in the software have been changed, except for what I've detailed above. The processing of the color/export should be the same from the same file in the same library with the same adjustments and the same software settings, but it's not.
Can anyone try this same test in another environment? Or does anyone know how Aperture might leverage hardware perhaps in it's processing of color?

  • Pages 5.0.1 rotates images when exporting PDF

In two sperate occasions I have inserted an image into a table cell, and also a shape.  I've scaled the image to the size of my liking.  When I exported the document to PDF (file > Export to > PDF) the PDF displays the images rotated 90 degrees and stretched to fill the size of the cell, or shape.

I thought Pages 5 doesn't allow image insertion in Table cells?
Has this changed in Pages 5.01?
Either case it still seems buggy.

  • Crop mark on image when exporting to PDF

When I export my INDD file to PDF, crop marks appear on one of the images (an EPS file) in the converted document. The crop marks do not appear in the INDD file, nor are they part of the original EPS file. Any idea what's happening and how to get rid of it?

Screen shots would help here, but the first thing I would try is replace the EPS file with a native file format, either .al for vector or .psd for raster, or PDF for mixed content.

  • Pixelated images when exporting from Lightroom

I recently switched from A Windows PC to the MBP Retina 15". I imported photos to lightroom from my external hard drive in RAW format to lightroom, edited then exported firstly as jpeg resized to 630 x 420 at 150 dpi. The images came out pixelated so I tried exporting at 300dpi even though the images are for web use. They still came out pixelated. So I tried exporting as .tif files at 300 dpi and still they are coming out pixelated... does anyone know why this would be? The raw files don't look pixelated at all.

I resized this image to 1200 x 800 and have just cropped a section to show you.
    PART I
Viewed at 100%, I see no "pixelation" or any other distortion of any kind whatsoever.
Only a 100% view (1:1) shows you your true image.  At smaller percentage views, pixels have to be discarded; at greater percentages pixels have to be made up (invented) by the software.
With the Retina screen you're bound to see very strange things, unless you're using the latest and greatest versions of Photoshop and of your video card, and utilizing the Retina features of the software.
    PART II
JPEG is a lousy, lossy format for maintaining image quality.  Every single time you open or create and save a JPEG, the image quality deteriorates, no exceptions.  Even at the highest quality of compression.
To take a very low resolution JPEG, like you did, and subject it to such a massive enlargement is to ask for demand trouble.  Not only are you also magnifying all the JPEG compression artifacts, but you are "inventing" an inordinate amount of pixels.
If you have to enlarge your images often, start with an image file that has NEVER been a JPEG.
    PART III
Photoshop performed superbly in your case.  That is a remarkably fine enlargement, especially considering the miserly JPEG you started from.  Rejoice!

  • Double image when printing labels

I am copying in a graphic for Avery round labels. Everything looks fine on the screen, but when printed, some (not all) of the labels have the image, plus a smaller version of the image on top of it. Kind of like an inset. I have reloaded the printer software (I have an HP Photosmart c8180 All in one), used old avery forms, downloaded new avery forms, and a host of meaninless other things.  Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Hi, have you tried using another program to print the image?
