Double mails in MobileMe and other account (IMAP)

I am trying to optimize my mail workflow and I could use some help.
What is the situation? In the Mail app I have two IMAP accounts set up: MobileMe and a business account.
I have a mailaccount from my Internet-provider (Online.nl). All mail to that account is forwarded to my MobileMe account (IMAP). This works fine, except that MobileMe shows all mails double.
I also have a business account that is also IMAP. All incoming mails on this account are also shown double.
So the question, simply put, is: why do both my IMAP accounts show all incoming mails double ???
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi
Had the same problem, stumbled around, then finally found the solution.
Switch off POP on your email. Delete the POP email account on your iphone. Try to set up a new email account on your iPhone. You then get a warning that POP is disabled but it then gives you full configuration options for the new email account - including IMAP! Switch to IMAP, complete the other settings and it all works.
ps. To switch off POP on virgin email you need to log in using your web browser, then go to Settings, then Forwarding And POP/IMAP.

  • MobileMe and iCloud accounts in Mail on my iPhone

In Oct 2011 a user wrote:
"I updated to iCloud and now I have both MobileMe and iCloud accounts in Mail on my iPhone 4s. I don't have the option to delete the MobileMe account so now I have two of the same account under different names. How do I delete the MobileMe and keep the iCloud?"
The following response solved that users issue:
"Open the MobileMe preferences in System Preferences, sign out. Open the Mail, Contacts, Calendars preferences and either turn off the MM account or delete it. The MM account will disappear at the end of June 2012.  You can delete any MM account you have currently turned on in your iPhone's settings."
I have the same issue, and that helpful response does not apply in my situation.  On my Mac, I am signed out of my MobileMe account; the Mail, Contacts, Calendars preference does not show a MobileMe account, just iCloud.
On my iPhone, Mailboxes in Mail shows my MobileMe address and iCloud entries - both mailboxes/accounts show the same folders and messages. Also, in Settings' Mail, Contacts, Calendars the Accounts does not have a MobileMe entry, just iCloud.
Mailboxes in Mail on my iPad 2, on the other hand, does not show the MobileMe address; it only shows the iCloud entry.
Any recommendations on how to remove the MobileMe entry on my iPhone?

Don't count on it!  Both my iPad and iPhone4S are on 5.1 and both are having problems right now!

  • The default account option in iOS for contacts is missing; while I have multiple account options for mail and contacts are turned on for iCloud and other accounts.

The default account option in iOS for contacts is missing; while I have multiple account options for mail and contacts are turned on for iCloud and other accounts.  I previously was able to select between my Microsoft Exchange Contacts (work account) and iCloud (personal), but both those options are now gone.  I tried turning contacts for both off and on and rebooting, but it didn't help.  Any ideas?

Just a guess but if the exchange account is from your employer, your employer may have installed a security profile to your device preventing you from adding or editing contacts in the exchange account by removing the Default Account setting.  You would need to check with your employer's IT department to confirm this.  You could also test this by adding a Gmail account and turning on contacts syncing with Gmail to see if the setting reappears.

  • Exchange, mobileme and other email accounts?

    I have 3 email accounts on my iPhone (comcast-pop, gmail-imap, mobileme-push)
Can I ad my company's exchange and have it play nicely with the other accounts?
Can you have 2 push accounts on the same iPhone?
    Thanks for your help!

I don't see any problem. I run Mobile me and Exchange just fine on my iPhone.

  • Mail (in Leopard) and Shared Accounts?

Not sure whether anyone's encountered this before, and my search of this and other forums hasn't turned up anything directly on point, but here's hoping:
In our company, everyone has his/her own IMAP account: [email protected].
Many of us work on the same projects/transactions, but not everyone is copied on the same e-mails. Rather than forwarding e-mails, etc., we established a new IMAP account (to which all users subscribe), called [email protected]. The SharedMatters account started off with approximately 15 or so separate mailboxes, but now has upwards of 200. As we receive mail in our own personal accounts that pertains to a project, we just move it to the appropriate mailbox in the SharedMatters account. Initially, the amount of e-mails in the mailboxes/folders wasn't all that great (and mailboxes were regularly archived when a project ended/transaction closed). Now, however, the amount of e-mails, together with the size of the attachments, is staggering.
To enable each user to be able to search the contents of the various mailboxes, the advanced preference "Keep copies of messages for offline viewing - All messages, but omit attachments" has been selected.
The problems with the setup above are: (a) the drain on the network is more than taking its toll: everyone has a local copy that is continuously indexed across all computers; the more people join, the worse it gets; (b) storage of the SharedMatters account on the individual computers (particularly laptops) is getting to be a problem; and (c) because of the synching issues (drain on network), folks are beginning to be irritated and not use a system that, at its core, is extremely helpful.
The question is whether there's a better way to set this up (or whether there's a product that can do this). I know that in a Windows environment, you could use "Public Folders" in Outlook and, if you weren't logged in to the network, you couldn't see/read/search the e-mails. That result would be fine now, except I'm not sure whether that's possible in Leopard/with Mail. No one here is truly wedded to "local storage" of the e-mails (i.e., they're fine with having to log in and don't mind not having the ability to search/look at e-mails when they're not logged into the system); searching the text of the e-mails when you're logged in, however, is absolutely critical (and searching the attachments too would be great).
With a couple of exceptions, we're all using Leopard (10.5.6) and Mail (3.5.2).
Any help would be more than greatly appreciated.

how have you upgraded to leopard? can you search in spotlight for one email you cannot find in Mail, and do you find it? if so what is the path, where is it located on your hard drive?

  • Multiple Exchange and other Accounts - Can Calendars Sync Individually?

I currently sync mail with my iPhone 3G (4.2.1) with two Exchange Servers, gmail, hotmail, gmx, AOL and Yahoo!. I maintain real calendars on both Exchange Servers (but not on the other accounts). Don't know whether it's relevant, but the two Exchange Servers sync via EAS, and they're on different domains. I sync calendars only with one of the Exchange accounts.
I need to - ideally - sync calendars with both Exchange Servers such that my iPhone has all my information, but I don't want calendar info from one Exchange Server to appear on the other one's calendar. I can live with inputting all calendar data into one server or the other (i.e., not entering any calendar data directly on the iPhone), but I'm afraid that once I add the second Exchange account's calendar to the iPhone, all my appointments will appear in both Exchange Servers' calendars.
    Will this work?? Thanks!

The PlayBook does not "sync" email locally to the device - this is one of the selling points to the corporate world.
When you bridge the PlayBook to a Blackberry it pulls the information from the Blackberry in real time, as soon as the Blackberry is disconnected the information disappears from the Playbook so you shouldnt have any issue bridging two blackberrys,

  • I want to redirect mails having attachments to other account automatically by creating rules or using automator. Is that possible?

I have a problem opening mails that have attachment in it because the corporate policy does't allow downloading attachments. I want to redirect those mails to my corporate account so that I can download attachments using corporate mail client.
    Is that possible?

Just add a rule and select "Attachment type" then in the drop down menu select what kind.
If you want all of those attachment types to be sent to the other account or what not. Then you're going have to click on the + on the far right until you've filled them all... I did a few of them for an example.

  • Merge MobileMe and iTunes account?! This is CRAZY unfair!

When I first joined MobileMe some years ago I couldn't merge my iTunes account with my new MobileMe email address. Furthermore, at the beginning I believe (though I can't find any info to back this up) that it was NECESSARY that you had a seperate account for mobileme and the iTunes store, that's why I have two.
Now that I've switched over to cloud my MobileMe Account is obviously the one I want to use for everything, but all my music and perchases for the past 4 or 5 YEARS are on another account, which I'm told I can't merge. What happens when people get married, or or change email addresses, or even countries?
Are digital commodities really this fragile and fleeting? If so I'm just about done throwing my money at binary, and go back to CDs.
Any thoughts... what can I do? I've spent hundreds if not thousands I'm sure over the past 5 years... this is crazy.

Use your ex-MobileMe login for iCloud; use your iTunes ID for iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match. There's no problem in having two IDs this way, and in fact it's more secure not to have your iTunes login the same as your email address (given the number of complaints about iTunes accounts getting hacked).
Once you've got it running Keychain will handle the logins anyway so you won't even need to remember which login is which.

  • Mail.app AddressBook and CardDav Accounts

Mail.app has "add to address book" function and "create new contact" When I select an email address from the subject of the message, I get "Add to Address Book" when I click the arrow. This contact shows up in the proper location (CardDAV server)
"create new contact, an option activated by selecting contact info from within the body of an email adds the new contact info to "On My Mac"
My "Default" location for new contacts(set in AB) is my network account (CardDAV, OSX Server v10.6.5) but they are still added to the "On My Mac" section.
Applications such as Billings (MarketCircle) will only access the "on my mac" section of address book. Such a headache. I have an employee waiting to add contacts into our system, and this is a MAJOR pain.
    Help!

    Hello,
Are you saying that in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Account Information, all the accounts are listed? If so, read on, but if not post further info.
Do you know all the info needed to set the accounts up again, if needed? Then Quit Mail, and then in the Finder open Home/Library/Preferences and locate the file named com.apple.mail.plist and drag it out to the Desktop. Relaunch Mail, and it should open as though New, but DECLINE when prompted to import anything, but instead simply set the accounts back up, and Mail should rediscover the existing account folders.
For safety, before doing this, open Home/Library and find the Mail folder, Duplicate it, and drag the resulting copy to the Desktop for temporary backup.

  • Our iCal is refusing to refresh, we're using mobileme and that account all looks good. Just suddenly refusing to refresh. Have resubscribed everyone, just don't know what's up with it? Any ideas? we rely on it to keep everyone on schedule!

Doh, I thought I had to cram the question into those few words - didn't realise it wa sa title! Our iCal has just recently refused to automatically refresh - if you delete it and subscribe again it won't let you. All machines affected. We use MobileMe and I've been on the account and all looks good. Is there someone we can phone to talk this through? We're a mag so we really need to all work on the same schedule and know who is off etc? Any clues?
    Cheers

Have you got a firewall? - these can sometimes cause problems.
If you are in a business environment and all on the same LAN, you might like to consider abandoning MobileMe and buying BusyCal. It's like iCal Pro in effect, with more facilities, including the ability to display ToDos in the day area: it uses the same database as iCal.
You would revert to local calendars, and BusyCal can sync them instantly between computers on the same network, with read/write access if required. (Syncing can only take place when Macs are on).
It's available in the Mac App Store and their site has a free trial period (it's more expensive on the site so you would want to delete the trial and buy from the App Store).

It's possible to do all this over the internet, though it's more complicated - http://www.busymac.com/help/sync/busycal-wan.html

    Go to Shared Components/Templates.
Find the page template that you are using and click Copy.
Go into the copy and look for &USER. and #NAVIGATION_BAR# and delete.
Go to each page that does not need the user and navigation and assign the new template.
This will get rid off the user details and the navigation bar.

  • Can't Sync IMAP Sent Mail on E72 and other issues!

Has anybody any idea why Nokia felt it a good idea to release a phone with a mail client, that supports IMAP, but DOESN'T sync your sent mail? It is such a ridiculous omition that I am lost for words. I actually recommended the E71 to our IT department a few years ago but the mail client was so poor, we ended up getting 15 phones and 15 Profimail licences. The IT department have asked me to recommend the next phone as the E71 was a big hit and I asked them to get me this E72 to test. It is with great reluctance that I am going to try the iphone instead and recommend that as I believe the mail client on it is very good and the E72's is totally hopeless unless you go through the Nokia Messaging server, which obviously a corporate isn't going too. Before I knee jerk though, has anyone else had this issue and found a way around it?
Also, the predictive text is shocking now, the web browser is so buggy and closes without warning due to memory issues all the time.
Oh, the optical control pad is dreadful and totally useless and the select key also doesn't work in off-line mode, so the E72 is useless on a plane.
Nice to see that Nokia took the very good E71, played with it, broke it, made it far worse and buggy, stuck a new case on then released it as the E72. I remember the days that a Nokia phone worked from the minute you bought it, but now with firmware updates Nokia feel they can release half baked phones by the dozen, monthly. Pathetic.
Oh, and this is the latest firmware, too!
And one other thing, OVI Suite, PC Suite and the umpteen other applications that all do useful things....can Nokia not just release one main PC support app that works and has ALL the features under one roof? I have to installed them all on my PC as well as loads of other sync and office apps on the phone (like OVI Files) just to do the obvious things that you use a modern smartphone for.
Nokia, there is a very obvious reason why you are losing market share at the moment, and it isn't because people trust Google or like DRM and fruit pictures on their phones. Get a grip will you?
If anyone can help primarily with the Sent Mail sync issue in Nokia Email (without suggesting I route all my mail through Nokia's unreliable servers and divulge all my passwords), I would be very Grateful Indeed.

I had a number of problems setting up Google Apps with my phone. Mail, Calendar and Tasks were not syncing.
    Mail
Ok here is the solution to your sent mails problem. I have spent far too long setting up google apps to sync properly with my new E72 (latest software installed). It really is a superb phone but if Nokia is not going to fully support integration with Google Apps with a simple app then Android and Blackberry will simply take over for Apps users. It really isn't up to Google to solve this its up to Nokia. Are you going to move from Google Apps or change your phone????
I have gmail and  business google apps accounts and both are now syncing properly with what seems to be pretty good Nokia email software on the phone. This is allowing me to receive, send, view attachments, view sent mail etc. Here are the steps I took from the beginning.
    1. Enable IMAP for the google accounts. Couldn't get anything to work otherwise.
    2. Follow this instruction https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78887
    3. Your inbox should now be working however you now need to map the folders you want to see on your mobile. While at your inbox go to >settings>mailbox settings>what to sync>folder subscriptions.
    4. Click on Gmail and highlight the folders you want to see
    5. Go back to your inbox and go to the dragdown list of folders and highlight 'More Folders'. Under 'Gmail' you will find your sent items along with attachments etc. Problem solved. Its not a pretty solution but at this stage like me you just want something that works.
    Calendar
This was a nightmare and I am now running a third party app called Googasync which is working fine. In 10 days time I will need to buy this so if someone knows how to setup calendar syncing properly without it please let me know.
    Tasks
Googasync will not sync Tasks and I don't know if there is any app out there that will. If someone can help please let me know. Surely this should be pretty simple!?!?!
By the way I mailed Nokia support last Thursday on the above but have not received a reply.
In summary its a great phone and I've moved from a Blackerry Bold to it but I shouldn't be spending days finding workarounds!!

  • MobileMe and iCloud accounts

After installing iOS5, I now have a MobileMe account AND an iCloud account in the mail settings on my iPad 2.  This means double the mail.
This did not happen on my iPhone 4, which only shows an iCloud account.
Can I safely delete the MobileMe account on the iPad?
    TIA!
    Bob

    hey everybody!
i have the same problem with my iphone; in the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" settings there is only a listing for iCloud, but when i look at my mailboxes, there is a listing for MobileMe as well as two for iCloud. i also would like to delete the MobileMe-mailbox, but it does not appear in the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" list.
i also rebooted my iOS device but the problem is still here

  • Change AppleID to MobileMe and move account

I have an existing Apple ID that gives me access to all my music in iTunes, and I recently qcquired a MobileMe account which now now become my primary (only) personal e-mail account.
Obviously, it would make sense to change my Apple ID to reflect my MobileMe email account. Unfortunately, the system says I can't change my old Apple ID to an existing Apple ID (every MobileMe account generates it's own Apple ID).
So how do I move my account history and iTunes music access over to new MobileMe Apple ID?
    PLEASE HELP!!!!

Haha, I had these same issues to when setting up one of my accounts, except it would default to POP instead of IMAP.
To delete your account go to 'Email' -> Preferences & Accounts -> Select Your account under 'Accounts' Scroll all the way down and click 'Remove Account'
Your pre will chug along for a few minutes while it deletes the account.
Once you have an account setup, there is no way to change the server type, you have to delete and then add your account again with new settings.
So, from under emal 'preferences and accounts' click 'add an account'.  Instead of typing in your emal address and password like it asks, go ahead and hit the email menu and select 'manual setup'.  In this screen you can set up the server type, port numbers, encryption etc etc.
    Hope this helps.

  • Not receiving mail to .mac and other mail issue's

    HI all
OK first up I cannot recieve any mail to my @mac.com address, when ever I try to send a test email to myself I recieve a bounced email back saying that 'Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently' I have read discussions on this matter and understand that I should be able to recieve email to this address as it is still in use for .mac users despite the iCloud change over but haven't been able to resolve this problem so far.
I also have a @me.com address which appears to recieve mail ok but would like to continue recieving mail to my @mac.com.
Secondly, I am only able to recieve mail to my @me.com address as when I try to send from this account I recieve a 'Cannot send message using the server iCloud' yet I am able to send mail from a different @me.com address that I created when iCloud was set out.
Both the @mac.com and @me.com addresses are original addresses from when thos services were first brought about but both have problems since the iCloud change over, @me.com addresses that I have created since the iCloud change over appear to work fine.
I let Lion set up all of my iCloud stuff through system preferences when it was rolled out and therefore has set up the mail preferences which are as follows :
In the address field I have both my @mac.com and @me.com seperated by a comma ([email protected], [email protected])
Incoming mail server is p02-imap-mail.me.com which I greyed out !?!
Under advanced is Port: 993, Use SSL: Checked, Authentication: Apple Token
Outgoing mail server: iCloud, however when I clicked on the edit SMTP server list iCloud SMTP is not in the list
    Thankyou !

Immediately contact Apple. Call a Genius and at least leave Apple some feedback. This should not be happening. It was indeed promised by Apple that all @mac.com addresses and aliases would remain functional if you had any of them before the switch to iCloud. They are still working for me, luckily.
Also, try changing the incoming and outgoing mail servers. Up until last week I was happily using POP with iCloud until – bam! – Apple decided to only support IMAP from then on. This change left me no option but to change to IMAP. My incoming server address is slightly different from yours. Maybe changing it to the new (?) address will solve your problem. At least it's worth a try, I'd say.
In my Mail.app Accounts preference pane, the IMAP server address is p99-imap.mail.me.com. I remember when setting up IMAP that the summary listed this same address as the incoming server. It doesn't show up in my SMTP server list either. So that should be normal behaviour, I guess.
    Good luck!
