Double_NAT Error leads to Mail blackhole.ntp?  (Airport/DSL)

I'm having problems with sharing files on the homeside network AND extenal Internet and Mail.app via a shared Airport connection.
I have a PowerMacG4 (10.4.9) and older iMac (10.3.9) connecting through a Netcom NB5 DSL/modem/router - on their own NO problem for ISP mail, gmail, internet.
But then the problems start when I trying to connect my MBP via airport.
So I set up the PowerMacG4 to share its Internect connection to computers connecting via airport with WEP.
Downstairs, I turn on Airport on my MBP. {Sometimes it takes many failed attempts to connect}
Okay so MBP gets connected and in Network Preferences/Airport is green for go - connected to internet via "G4Air13".
At this time, the Finder/Network shows three aliases created by the system - Libary, Servers, PowerMacG4. If I try to double-click the presumed PowerMacG4 'server' then the beachball spins for 120 seconds (while other applications may be more responsive).
So No go with AFP.
Okay so I set up MacFusion, and with a bit of fiddling and eventually JOY I succeeded in mounting the PowerMacG4 on my MBP downstairs via SSH - comes up in an instant as a 'volume' on the desktop. Transfer copy delete files all okay, launch app over network okay too.
So MacFusion/sshfs solves the file transfer issue, rather than AFP ...
At this point, Safari delivers external sites or whatever - but Mail.app won't send or receive anything from Yahoo.
Looking at the netstat - a various times during testing I noticed that Terminal was listing the destination ip of one of my attempts to be "blackhole." and further down a tcp connection was listed as "blackhole.ntp". This doesn't seem correct.
I've found a few recent theories hereabouts like -
1) ISP's are blocking/filtering PORT 25
2) Airport is unstable.
2) Mail.app or SMTP authentication is breaking.
My theory is that something is going wrong with the routing and firewalling between Airport acting as router and Netcomm DSL acting as router.
For example the IP's for the setup described above is :
NetCommDSL Router 192.168.1.1 (static itself, DCHP range 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.199) NAT on Firewall OFF
PowerMacG4 Ethernet DCHP-auto 192.168.1.100 (submask 255.255.255.0, router 192.168.1.1)(share ethernet to airport)
PowerMacG4 Airport DHCP ??.??.??.?? (submask blank, router blank)
iMac Ethernet DCHP-auto 192.168.1.101 (submask 255.255.255.0, router 192.168.1.1)
MBP Airport Manual address 10.0.2.5 (submask 255.255.255.0, Router 10.0.2.1)
So then - MBP sends request via Airport (10.0.2.5) to PowerMacG4-AirportCard-acting-a-NAT-Router (10.0.2.1) shared to PowerMacG4-Ethernet (192.168.1.100) to pass it on to NetcommDSL-as-NAT-Router (192.168.1.1).
MBP can traceroute each of these IP addresses above.
One hop to 10.0.2.1
one Hop to 10.0.2.5
One Hop to 192.168.1.100
Two Hops to 192.168.1.101 (via 10.0.2.1)
Two Hops to 192.168.1.1 (via 10.0.2.1)
So have I got a double-NAT problem or does or this look okay?
MBP Net Diagnostics all green for ISP/internet.
MBP No connection doctor result
MBP Still no Mail ...!
Thanx
:g

I guess I run WaterRoof on the PowerMacG4...
Yes. It is a tool for configuring the firewall.
I guess I should be trying to allow mail traffic through the PowerMacG4 via port-out 25 and port-in 995 rather than forwarding-ports...?
You need to allow port traffic on those ports for the AirPort interface. The firewall has no effect on out-going traffic.
I guess I should still aim to have (appropriately configured) firewall running on BOTH the PowerMacG4 AND the MBP via airport...?
There are no changes required to the firewall on the MBP.
Or do I need just one firewall at the PowerMacG4...?
The firewall on the MBP would be a deterrent against wireless attacks.

  • ERROR: Cannot start mail services, configuration directory does not exist

I'm running an Xserve G5 with one internal boot drive and one RAID using the other two internal drives. I used Apple's Disk Utility to set-up the RAID.
Back in early December, I moved my mail database and mail store to the RAID. Ever since, when I restart the server, the mailaccess.log generates the following error:
Jan 23 18:51:33 mail master[47]: ERROR: Cannot start mail services, configuration directory does not exist: /Volumes/RAID/mail.data/db
I'm speculating this is a timing error that gets created when Postfix initially can't find the RAID. Then, it must try again and find it because the error message does not repeat and mail starts running.
Is this something to worry about?

    Hi Joel,
You're right, it's a timing issues. The mail system is ready for work before the file system is mounted. It's benign.

  • Error: The e-mail server could not be reached when the system was trying to

    Dear All,
I've configured the Mail Transport in Portal successfully with SMTP as MS Exchange Server and Third-party Mailing servers. But due to some licensing issues a new MS Exchange mail server have been setup replacing the existing ones.
And when i configure the Mail Transport in the system i get the below message on the eMail Window:
"Error: The e-mail server could not be reached when the system was trying to send the message!
    javax.mail.MessaginException: 530 5.7.1 Client ws not authenticated
I've configured (all the steps) the same way as i used to before and restarted the server as well! Please let me know the issue to be resolved, the telnet to the mailserver is also successful. I've try'd searching SDN, didn't find the exact solution... any notes on this?
    Thanks,
    MS

    Hi,
It will depend on your infrastructure, I am not sure and have limited knowledge on netowrks, but in my current landscape both the system were in same domain, but  still i had to maintain proxy configuration.
Since it giving authentication error, it feel it could be proxy error.
Please refer below links which talks about same error :
    http://java.sun.com/products/javamail/FAQ.html#smtpauth
Or else i think it is issue with port.

  • Error while sending mail from SAP

    Hello All,
Recently we are facing an error while sending mail from SAP. When we try to compose a message ,it is moving to a dump error RAISE_EXCEPTION.
    The details from ST22,
    Short text
        Exception condition "FOLDER_NOT_EXIST" raised.
    Error analysis
A RAISE statement in the program "SA
        condition "FOLDER_NOT_EXIST".
Since the exception was not intercep
        program, processing was terminated.
    Kindly suggest..
    Thank You,
    Regards,
    Hasan

    Hello Priyanka,
Actually, I performed the following two steps in order to solve the issue:
    - In transaction SICF, the node for SAPConnect must be active. In our system, this node was in inactive state. Hence I activated it.
    - Then In transaction SCOT-> Settings menu--> default domain should be 'xyz.com' if the email addresses in your company are maintained with a suffix  xyz.com.
But for me the problem didnt get solved here..
The problem that i am facing now is that if in my user profile, I have the email address maintained, then i get an error saying 'Sender address rejected'. However, if i goto transaction SU01 and clear the email id, the mail is successfully sent to outer world.
You can try the above mentioned two steps using SICF and SCOT. If the problem does not get solved then try clearing the mail id in ur user profile.
Hope this helps. If you find an answer to the problem of the mail id getting cleared, then please let me know..

  • Mail server log says: master[50]: ERROR: Cannot start mail services...

Recently, after a year or more of relatively smooth service, my OS X Server 10.4.11 Mail services has been locking up daily.
I was finally able to get some information from the log files (I am a noob to this) and saw the following right after my most recent reboot of the server:
Oct 5 09:51:11 mm1 master[50]: ERROR: Cannot start mail services, configuration directory does not exist: /Volumes/Data/mail/var/imap
I checked the server and that directory is indeed there on the partition named "DATA", so I am baffled as why the server does not thing the configuration directory exists?

Thanks Alex for the feedback. You are helpful as always!
It's good to know that the message I am getting from the mail server about the configuration files is only a temporary thing. Although I find it strange that the mail service doesn't know where its config files are since it is specified in the mail server setup.
I looked at the log files you mentioned and do not see anything that looks like a specific problem with the mail services themselves.
Recently, however, I have been having recurring problems where my mail server and my Web/Database server have both become unresponsive at nearly the same time even though they are on different class A networks to where I cannot access them via ARD, Server Admin and even SSH. That is usually when my mail server goes offline. I was afraid it was because of that configuration error I was seeing, but think now that the problem could be something else entirely (maybe some kind of network problem or denial of service hacking attack, no idea).
    Thanks again.

    1. check once more if you've filled all

(if you do that dynamically mail package or adapter specific fileds check if they are filled)
    2. check in visual admin the whole error description

  • Error in sending mail :  SMTPSendFailedExcept Client was not authenticated

    Hello all,
I am new to the forum,
I have a small program to send mail to Microsoft exchange server.
Now the server is enabled with https option.
Now i am getting error :
    com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPSendFailedException: 530 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated
    at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.issueSendCommand(SMTPTransport.java:1668)

    at javax.mail.Transport.send0(Transport.java:191)
    at javax.mail.Transport.send(Transport.java:120)
    at SendEmail.main(SendEmail.java:55)
    there are two things:
As the program sends mail from a webpage, a user password used for login to the webpage is different from his mail server password, it is not possible to give a username and password to send mail / read mail from the exchange server.
Please give any other option without passing user name and password to the exchange server.

    1. Reconfigure the Exchange server to allow sending without authentication.
    2. Authenticate to the Exchange server using credentials specific to the web application itself.
Configure the Exchange server to allow the user with those credentials to send mail that appears
to be from any other user.
No, I don't know how to do any of that with Exchange; ask Microsoft.

  • Mail expunge error and old mail switching to new mail status

Everything started when I set to enabled in mail-general-when searching mail boxes: include encrypted pages.
I was looking for a way to seach in the content of the message for the mails.
Then the first error appeared: the mails when I read those mails returned by themselves to the state of unread.
Then I disabled again the optin: mail-general-when searching mail boxes: include encrypted pages,
but the error continued. and all my mails (more than 1200) were set automatically to the "new" mail status each time that I started the mail program.
Now I created a mailbox named "old" when I move the new messages that I have read to that file.
But now the mail program uses the memory constantly.
with out the mail, the computer memory is near 5%, but when I start the mail program and use it constantly, the memory goes to 100% until I receive the mail expunge error.
The machine has 4Ghz ram, and the mail program uses all until I got the error, I am using a G5, dual cpu, 2ghz, mac osx server. There are no other programs using the memory.
1)how can I configure the mail to avoid the expunge error?
2)how I can configure the mail to keep the mails that I just read to an old state (avoiding those to restart their state to "new")?
3)it is possible to do searchs in all the content of the messages?
    thanks
    Alberto

    You’re welcome.
Well, not knowing what the problem really is, and since it apparently started to happen after you changed some settings, I’d try setting up Mail again from scratch and import your mail back afterwards.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk, try this:
    1. If you have a .Mac account and .Mac synchronization of Mail data is enabled either in Mail > Preferences > General or in System Preferences > .Mac, disable it before proceeding.
    2. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    3. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/. Move (not copy) the entire Mail folder out of there, to the Desktop.
    4. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Locate com.apple.mail.plist and move it to the Desktop.
    5. Open Mail and set it up again from scratch. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don’t. Just enter the account information and check that everything works fine.
    6. You’ll have to re-configure all your settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
    7. If Mail works fine now and you had any messages stored in local mailboxes, do File > Import Mailboxes, choose Mail for Mac OS X as the data format, and follow the instructions to import your mail from the old Mail folder that’s now on the Desktop. Import the Mailboxes folder first, then each of the POP-username@mailserver account folders, if any.
    8. If .Mac synchronization of Mail data was enabled at the beginning, enable it again, go to System Preferences > .Mac > Advanced, click Reset Sync Data, and choose the appropriate options to reset the Mail data stored on the .Mac server with the data locally stored on the computer, i.e. sync data must flow from the computer to the .Mac server.
As a result of doing the above, some messages may be duplicated. Andreas Amann’s Mail Scripts has a Remove Duplicates script that you may find useful.
If all is well and you don’t miss anything, the files on the Desktop can be deleted, although you may want to keep them for a while, just in case.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

  • How to restart an workflow if ended in error at SEND Mail step.

    Hello All
I am facing some problem in restarting the error workflow.
    Issue is:
Workflow ended in error at the mail notification step, since the mail id is not filled into the container so there is no address (mail id) and ended in error.
How to restart these kinds of workflow in the system?, we have tried to change the container value by assigning mail id and restarted the workflow but still went into error.
Is it possible to restart an workflow which ended in error other than rule resolution.
    Regards
    Anand KS

I think you went in the write approach. I think you have to change the container properly by populating the ADDRESSTRING container element. Also check whether type of email recipient in your container is et to Email.
    Thanks

  • Errors connecting to mail servers

I switched to a new internet services provider and, since then, all my email accounts are failing. They told me to contact my mail providers because according to them, if I can browse then the error must be somewhere else because the DSL is working.  :|
I have problems in my iMac, my Macbook Pro and two iPhones. The computers are both using Mavericks.
Mail accounts were working OK in the previous ISP, and now I'm using the same router that is mine (Vodafone router Huawei 556a).
I don't know what else can I try to make this work, so I'd like to ask the experts here because any hint is much appreciated. I already tried this:
Change and try Google and OpenDNS DNS in the devices.
Uncheck SSL, close Mail, open it, check it again.
Deleted and configure emails accounts again (I'm using three different providers: iCloud, Gmail and a custom domain provider, all of them worked fine before).
Try another router - same small cuts in connection.
Try another email client, I tried Airmail.
Try 3G connection: When having problems on the iPhone, switching to 3G connection I get a lot of stuck email DSL can't download.
Try to use the web email: When Apple Mail is stuck, Gamil in Safari works and I can send and receive emails that are waiting forever in Apple Mail.
I made a "ping" yesterday instructed by a friend and this is the poor result:
    http://pastebin.com/LXVVXz7a
    --- 8.8.8.8 ping statistics ---
1000 packets transmitted, 994 packets received, 0.6% packet loss
    round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 65.459/241.751/514.971/61.651 ms
This is my mail Doctor when the problem is happening:
Where is the problem? Can it be the router? I had problems with email using another one. Can it be something in my line? ISP denies all responsibility because I can browse.
Thanks for any advice. regards from Spain.

    HOLD YOUR HORSES!
After a week with this nightmare, it turned out the instalation wasn't in good shape. The problem was in the cable, I replaced it and now works. As simple as that.
If any of you faces this kind of problems and can't do nothing else in the software side… Check the wires!
    Regards, topic can be closed.

did you search the LDAP server to see whether the email value you try to use already exist ?  typically LDAP server do not care whether email is duplicated or not, but by default OIM server do not allow duplicated email
