Double or threetimes overlapped ringtone on sms

Hello
some days after the update to iOS 5.0.1 there is an overlapping of ringtones during sms income. instead of a normal tone, it overlap itselfs twice or three times and ends after it.
what i mean is: standard should it ring like "ding dong" but it makes a "di di di ding do" or similar..especially on lock screen, and does not matter which ringtone i ve chosen.
the problem occurs also on many other iphone 4 and 4S models of my friends.
We tried to change the reminder function, it helped ones if the phone was not locked, but not a second time.
it is an error and not an adjustment problem. how can i fix it?
additional: if i am on the phone, and get an sms meanwhile, it is ringing into my ear, which ich also a bug i hope and will be corrected.

Solved ...
Download 5.0.1 (9A406) for iphone 4s
And 5.0.1(9A405) for iphone4 from the Internet .
Put ur phone on DFU mode.
press SHIFT+ restore button and chose the ipw 9A406
That's it :)
It's working fine with me now and the battery life problem solved too

    You cannot for SMS tones.

  • Can the Curve output the ringtones and SMS notifications to headphones or to an externally connected speaker?

Ok, here's the deal. I'm a network engineer, and my company uses a monitoring system which sends SMS text messages to pre-defined corporate cellphone numbers when something requires an engineer's attention. My problem is that I'm a VERY deep sleeper (laugh if you must; I need three separate alarms to wake up in the morning), and my current phone's speaker (a Curve 8310) is simply not loud enough to wake me up. Nor is any other phone, I would imagine. Not unless it has a 30-minute ringtone.
So my question is, can the Curve, when connected to an external speaker or a pair of headphones via 3.5mm audio cable, output its ringer or its SMS notification tones through the audio jack to the speaker/headphones in addition to (or instead of) the phone's built-in speaker?

eh, you never know... I've had people thank me PROFUSELY, before, for giving them those loud tones, but of course they tried them first
Your Alarm tone can be as long as you want... Mine repeats until I touch the screen, then I have a one minute snooze. I use a loud tone also, because most would never awaken me.

  • How about no ringtone, no sms aleart, no clicks, no locks, no sound

What in the **** is the problem, do I need to return this phone? I just downloaded the recent up date and it did not fix anything. It used to auto adjust the volume but now the volume stays but I get no sound. To top it off it will not vibrate either. The volume lock is not on. Any ideas? Thanks

Can you hear sounds through the earbuds?
Sometimes the iphone can think the earbuds are still in. You can insert and remove them several times in a row and it can solve this - for some people.
Some report a restore can help of this is the case.

  • Use volume button on ZTE Open only for music and not for ringtone/sms/alarm

I wounder if its possible to override the volume button on the device so it dosent change the ringtone and sms volume? I had this feature on iOS where I can set the ringtone and notification volume then a switch that sad "Change with buttons" = true || false.
My Android device (Padfone2) did not have this feature and I end up missing calls and sms because you turn the volume up and down when you browse the web, listening to music ect.
Does someone know if this is possible on my ZTE Open with FFOS 1.1?

To further explain where the volume controls are going,
'There's multiple different settings for audio volume:
    * audio.volume.content: Affects the "content" and "normal" audio channels. It's an integer between 0 and 15 where 0 means muted (but not paused).
    * audio.volume.notification: Affects the "notification" and "ringer" channels. It's an integer between 0 and 15.
    * audio.volume.alarm: Affects the "alarm" channel. It's an integer between 0 and 15.
    * audio.volume.telephony: Affects the "telephony" channel. It's an integer between 0 and 5.
    * audio.volume.bt_sco: Volume when bluetooth headset is plugged in. It's an integer between 0 and 15.'
    Take from https://wiki.mozilla.org/WebAPI/AudioChannels
So as per stated before, the Ringer & Notification has a different setting than the Alarm, as well as the Telephony voice and the content as well as blue tooth volume.
I agree that it can get rather confusing with which volume is getting affected when. In general if the sound is currently going off, then most likely that is what the volume is controlling. We should probably file a bug on somehow getting the volume controlling less confusing.

  • Set ringtone/sms tone

Shouldn't being able to set a song as a ringtone or sms tone be a feature on this phone (the same way you can set a picture as a wallpaper)?
Will this be included in future iOS updates? It's such an obvious feature!
    Thank you.

You can create a custom ringtone manually with iTunes on your computer for a song or sound file that does not include DRM protection, and there are a number of 3rd party utilities that provide for this with some being free. Apple has a free ringtone maker app called Ringer available via their new computer app store for the Mac. A ringtone must be less than 40 or 30 seconds in length. The Ringer app allows for choosing the segment of the selected song to be used as the ringtone and listening to the chosen segment before creating the chosen segment as a ringtone which is then placed as an available ringtone with Ringtones under Library in the iTunes source list along with being available as a custom ringtone to select under the Ringtones tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. The feee Ringer app and those like it can be used with a song or sound file that does not include DRM protection only.
There is no option to create a custom tone to be used as an SMS/MMS tone - not at the present time anyway. Since this is a user to user help forum only, no one here has any idea if this option will be included with a future iOS update and if so, when.

The built in applications on the device can't do what you are wanting, but with the vast many of third party software applications that are available for the palm os, I'm sure there is a program that will. I believe this program will

I however don't use it and you may want to double check with the vendor of the software, but it does say on the specs
Set custom MP3 ringtones for sms and voicemail notifications
Now that could mean two things to me, One it could mean you can set a custom mp3 ringtone for all sms messages, or you can set custom mp3 ringtones for individual ringtones.
I'd also suggest taking a look at mring it also seems to do what you are looking for

  • Can't create Ringtones

I moved to Mac Last February and I got the subscription to .Mac which assigned me a new apple account (@apple.com ). All my purchases with my previous (@msn.com) account I was able to transfer from my IPhone to my new IMac but the problem is that when I try to create a ringtone from any of these purchases song I will tell me that " this song was purchase by a different account ". When I log in with my previous account and I try to create the ringtone everything works fine until I click the "Buy" button. When I do it, nothing happen: no ringtone is purchased, no charge from Apple to my credit card and no error message.
I tried to get some help from Itunes store customer service but they told me that " the easiest solution will be is for you to repurchase the song you want to create as ringtone". They went ahead to offer me 4 songs credit ( I Have purchased well beyond this amount, even though not all my purchase songs are ringtone-ready songs. They also deleted my @apple.com account so all my new purchases (not to many, only 7 songs) will also have the same problem when I try to create and buy ringtones.
Thank you for any help I can get about this issue.

Don't know if you're still having this problem but...
I had the same thing. I couldn't create a ringtone in the regular iTunes store. The way I was able to create a ringtone was to take a song I'd downloaded that was ringtone-eligible (if you click on view/view options, click ringtones, and then by sort clicking on the ringtone icon, you'll have all the songs that are ringtone-eligible lined up together). Then I double-clicked on the ringtone icon next to the song I wanted. Then you'll be able to create the ringtone the way you like.
So if you download a song, you should be able to create a ringtone from your iTunes library.

  • Created ringtone, but itunes created a Tones folder instead of Ringtones

I created a ringtone by cutting a song up into a 29 sec. clip. converted to .m4r and synced with my iphone.  itunes and the phone created a Tones folder and put the file there, but there is no Ringtones folder and I cannot find the tone on the phone to choose as a ringtone or sms tone.

Yes, I have it set to sync everything.  When the iphone was docked it syncd and downloaded the newly purchased tone onto my PC itunes. Looking at the the Tones folder while docked in itunes and I can see both files in the Tones folder of the iphone and the PC.  I've scrolled through the whole list of tones and do not see my created ringtone at all.
i know I have gotten it onto the phone. When I first created the ringtone and syncd the iphone it created the Tones folder on the phone and I immediately saw the ringtone on the phone.
I assume that there is something wrong with the file that I created like the bitrate or filesize that is keeping the iphone from recognizing it.  I have not had trouble with this in the past though.
I used a 3rd party program to cut up the song to make the ringtone as I always have.  Should I try to use itunes to make the ringtone?

  • Can I use my music in iTunes as ringtones for certain contacts?

I have the iphone5 and I can't see where I can use my iTunes music as ringtones for contacts. Is this possible or do I need to get an app to do that? Also does anyone know of a good ringtone app that you can use your music from iTunes? I already downloaded a ringtone maker but I have the new iTunes and I could not get it to work!! Thanks...

    1. In your Music library, select a song you want to convert to ringtone
    2. Right-click on the song and select “Get Info” to view the song properties.
    3. Select “Options” tab. Fill in the “Start time” and “Stop time” to extract the portion of song you want to create as ringtone. From what I know, the length of custom ringtone should not be longer than 40 seconds. Otherwise, iTunes will not recognize it as a ringtone. When you are ready, click “OK” to confirm.
4.Next, right-click on the song and select “Create ACC Version”.
    5. iTunes then automatically extracts the portion of song you have instructed in the previous step. The new song file is just 40-sec in length. This is the song file you’ll work on from step 6 and onwards.
    6. Next, right-click on the song and select “Show in Finder”. This opens up Finder and locate the song file you just created.
Note: For Windows user, you should choose “Show in Windows Explorer” instead.
    7. As you can reveal from Finder, the song file is in .m4a extension and we’ll change it to “.m4r”, which is the file extension for tones. Rename the file extension from “.m4a” to “.m4r”. For Mac users, select “Use .m4r” when prompted.
    8. Go back to iTunes. Right-click on the song you have created (i.e. the 40 sec version) and select “Delete” to delete the song.Click “Delete Song” to confirm the deletion and then click “Keep File” when you?re prompted. This tells iTunes to delete the song (the 40 sec version) from music library and keep the actual file.
    9.
Go back to Finder and double-click on the ringtone file (.m4r) you have just renamed.
    11. The ringtone will automatically add it to the “Tones” library in iTunes. You can now sync it to iPhone as a ringtone or text tone. Enjoy!

  • Ringer volume and/or Message arrive ringtone help

Having issues hearing the phone. Have it turned up and finally had to change the ring tone to the "alarm". This solves the calls, but for SMS, I can not change the volume high enough or the alert tone to be anoying enough. Any help?

Agreed, we need to be able to configure the ringtones for SMS - which ringtone and volume -- and would be nice to be able to set specific ringtones depending on who the message is coming from.

  • Syncing Ringtones to iphone

I'm trying to find out what is wrong or am I missing something. I went to itunes, created by ringtones and synced them to my phone. Now when I check my phone I dont see any ringtones on at all. Can someone please help me figure out if I'm doing something wrong...

    One thing that might help.
When you created the ringtones, did they show up in the ringtones section of your itunes library.
Check ringtones under library on the left of itunes.
Here is an article from the apple support website that might help out.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1693
If so, double click on the ringtone and play it in itunes.
Once you can play it in itunes, connect the iphone and check the tabs next to summary to see if you have ringtones to sync to the iphone.
Once synced, check Settings > Sounds > Ringtone.
Scroll to the very top and very bottom to see if the custom ringtone section shows.
    Hope this helps.

  • Ringtone nowhere to be found

I bought two ringtones today, the first one downloaded fine and is working. The second showed the file as downloaded but doesn't show up in my list of ringtones. So I went and bought it from Verizon Tones again. Same thing. So I tried a third time and it says to look in my music inbox, which I can't find anywhere. So, Verizon, was I double charged for a ringtone that I can't even access?

Hello trigojon. Sorry to hear of this issue with the missing ringtone. With regards to the suggestion, did you try to access your default music player, run a scan of all audio files, and see if it appears on the listing of available music tracks?
What phone make/model do you use?
We can help review the charges if you are billed for twice for the same ringtone. Just let us know if it does appear twice.
