Double Sided A4 Book Printing

I've been an aperture user since 1.0 and was always impressed with the potential of the book tool to create easily albums of photos. The great thing about it of course is that you can fiddle with the RAW images directly in the layout without having to export as tiff's or jpeg's as you probably would need to with other layout programs.
Having had a couple of albums printed by Apple, though, I wasn't too impressed with the quality of the print. So thought the way forward was to print at home. Unfortunately, living in Europe, getting hold of US letter size photo paper is nigh on impossible (and even more difficult for double sided media!). I really hope V2 of Aperture will improve the book tool by giving the option for different sized pages.
I have managed to work out the following method to print double sided on A4.
In File:Page setup I select A4 paper. I have an Epson 3800 and use the borderless setting.
Set up the printer dialog as you would print for A4. I print a calibration sheet and plug the numbers into the calibrate dialog box. This allows more accurate control of the borders (or lack of!)
For printer settings I use the 'document paper size' and whatever 'print settings' you like for the media used. Select 'print even pages'.
Then hit print.
The printer will then print all the even pages aligned borderless to the leading edge of the paper with an unprinted border on the trailing edge of about 18mm. I trim all the sheets of paper to just short of this (length 279mm on my trimmer), flip them over and print the other pages (with 'print odd pages' this time selected). Need to be a bit careful at this stage though as the cover counts as a page so you may need to put in an extra sheet on the front for this.
My local bookbinder does an excellent job of binding the pages into a great looking album which is a thousand times better looking than the Apple book. The trimmed edges go into the spine of the book if you do it this way round, so any slight irregularities don't matter.
The only tedious part is trimming down the sheets. I do hope the next version of Aperture has A4 or A3 even as an option for page size. Of course printing single sided books are easier - just trim the edges!
BTW great paper I've found for books is Permajet Double sided lustre. Great quality with the 3800!

Hi,
Follow these steps to disable two sided printing:
Open the file you would like to print. From the File menu select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized. Click the Show Details button to see all available settings.
Click the settings drop down, it will usually appear as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
Select Layout from the drop-down menu.
Set the Two-Sided option as Off.
You may save the settings as a preset by clicking Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset...
By doing so and completing the print job these settings will remain default till another preset will be used in the future.

  • SAP Printer Set to Double Sided on the printer itself

    Hi,
I need your expertise concerning a printing Scenario. The Scenario is that the physical printer is set to print double sided on the printer itself i.e. a duplex tray was recently installed. Hence all documents from Microsoft and SAP prints double sided.
We need to print certain document on one side on the SAP.
Transaction SPAD have an option for changing The 'Print Mode' to "S SIMPLEX: Print on one side" but this does not work.
Does anyone have an Idea how this can be achieved without changing the physical printer to print using single sided.
    Thanks
    NF

    Hi NF,
I hope you have Installed and configured the same Printer on the Server or Workstation, where you are currently working on.
Then go to the OS i.e., Windows Level:
Start> Settings>Control Panel--> Click on Printers and Faxes
Then check the Printer, which has been configured and Right Click On Properties,
and Click on Printing Preferences and Click on Finishing Tab.
Then you can able to see..the Document options, there you need to Deselect the Option of "Printing on Both Sides" .
Then fire the Print From the SAP...Now you can observe that you are printing Single sidedly without any issues.
Check this out...and let me know the response.
I am sure it will solve your issue.
    Cheers!!

  • Macbook won't print grayscale or doubled-sided to HP printer

I'm printing to an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, and in the dialogue box I mark long-edge binding under two-sided printing, and grayscale as an "other profile" of colorsync. But my documents only print in color and single-sided. I also notice that after I mark one of those options and then the other, when I go back to the first before printing, it has been reset to default. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Earlier, it wasn't finding the printer at all when I tried to print (I had installed the printer and it said it was printing to it, but in the printer box it just said "finding printer..." forever), so I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. Then I was able to print and just had this new problem. You think reinstalling again would help?

  • Can you print double sided on a HP photosmart all in one plus e-B210a

Hi, I hope someone can help, I'm having trouble printing double sided on this printer, does anyone know how this can be done.

As best I can tell, this printer does not have automatic duplex printing available. You need to print the even pages, turn them upside down and reinsert them and print the odd pages, using Paper Handling in the Print dialog. You may need to print in reverse order when printing the even pages, as I recall. It has been a while since I had a printer without automatic duplexing. It is a feature which I insist upon.

  • Can't print double-sided on my HP printer (laserjet CP2025)

I have owned an HP laptop and printer (color laserjet CP 2025) for about one year. When I purchased the printer it said that the printer was not compatible with Windows 7 - I did not know this before i purchased the printer. I had to reset my computer recently and now do not  have the ability to print double-sided.  The printer works but I cannot print double-sided unless I manually insert the pages.  I had the ability to print double-sided before I reset the computer.  HELP! this is the most frustrating experience and I am hesitant to purchase another HP product because OF THIS BAD EXPERIENCE.  When under warranty I was able to contact HP and received information on how to get the printer to be fully functional, I can't do that now.  Does anyone know how to get this function working? Please help.

    asp29,
For the cp2025, if you have the duplex model (has d in the model name) then this document will help you re-set the printer when using the Unversial Print Driver. Make sure you read the document all the way through and pay sepecial attention to the notes as they explain the process in relation to this product. Please check it out...

  • HP all-in-one C6180 with a duplexor fitted that printed double sided under Win XP but not Win 7 32bi

I have an HP all-in-one C6180 with a duplexor fitted.
I could print double sided under Wimdows XP but have now upgraded to  Windows 7 32-bit.
I have installed the latest drivers for the C6180 from the HP site.
    I cannot print double
sided because in Printer Properties > Device Settings > Installable Options the "Duplex unit for 2-sided printing" option is not available for Install.
Can you please provide a patch or the latest driver with the Install option enabled please.

You may need to enable the duplexer while logged in as a user with administrative privledges.  Alternately go to the Devices and Printers folder, right clisk on the C6180, Printer Properties, Security, and click the settings to allow "Manage this printer" for the user.

  • Printing reports on double-sided pages

Is there a way in Oracle reports to force each record to print on an even number of pages? This is for double-sided printing. Thanks for any help or advice.

I found this on one of the forums, similar to your suggestion:
"I am printing statements on a double-sided stationary capable printer. To ensure that each new statement starts on a new physical piece of paper, I need to add a blank page if the previous statement had an odd number of page sides. How can I do this?
Place an invisible boilerplate line before the repeating frame that contains your data. Give it a Page Break before and anchor it to the repeating frame. Then write a format trigger that only prints the boilerplate object (and thus the page break) if it is an odd page number. "
I've tried this but it isn't working for me. I'm using your logic for printing the page:
    v_page number;
    begin
         srw.get_page_num(v_page);
    if mod(v_page,2)=0
    then
return (FALSE); --if an even page don't print
    else
return (TRUE); --if an odd page do print
    end if;
    end;
Any idea why it's not working?

  • Help! double sided printing.

Hi, i recently purchased my first macbook air (os x 10.9.2) and have loaded my printer on however can not find any options or buttons to print double sided or duplex printing in word (office for mac 2011). I know my Brother MFC-J6510DW CUPS does do the double sided printing as i used to always do it it on my previous laptop.

I have an Epson double-sided printer, so what I'm about to suggest will hopefully apply.
If, for example, I wanted to double-sided print from Safari, I would do File > Print from Safari's menu.  Then a box would pop up showing paper orientation, etc.  Toward the bottom is a clickable row that says "Safari".  Click that and choose "Output Settings".   That's where the two sided options appear.

  • How to print double sided from my Mac to my Canon MG6350

I have looked up everywhere on the internet and youtube of how to print double sided from my Mac Book Pro. I am using OSX 10.8.5.
All of the dicussions I have looked up before have told me to go to System Preferences>Print & Scan>Options & Supplies> Driver and then tick the little box that comes up and it will allow you to print double sided. I have tried doing this but THERE IS NO DRIVER TAB!!!
I was just wondering if there was a solution to this as I can print double sided from my other appliences, like the PC and iPad, it is just my Mac Book Pro that doesn't work.
It has become a big problem for me as I'm studying at college and I need to print things double sided quite regularly. I really need this to work.

The print dialog has several drop-down menus, one of which initially shows the name of the application you're printing from. If the printer supports duplex, you can choose
    Duplex Printing & Margin
from that menu. You should then see a checkbox marked
    Automatic Duplex Printing

  • 7410 double sided printing

Well here I am again with printing problems.
I have a Mac Book Pro using OS 10.9.5, Mavericks. I managed to resolve my Print/Scan problem with Shlomil's help. Also, he helped me some time ago with a double sided printing problem. Now I find I have the same double sided printing problem but am unable to follow his advice (which fixed the problem last time)....
Now, The two sided printing box does not appear on the print drop down menu! So, I went on to the following (using the last advice Shlomil provided)...
"1. Verify the duplex-printing accessory has been installed properly. To verify this open the System Preferences and go to Printers & Scanners. Open the print queue of your printer. Click on Printer Setup and from the tab menu choose Driver. Verify the box next to HP Two-sided Printing Accessory (Duplexer) is checked."
However, when I select the "Open Print Queue" there is no "Printer Setup" on the tab menu. So, I can't verify the "HP Two-sided Printing Accessory (Duplexer) is checked " (unless I'm doing something wrong). I  and went on to #2.
    2. On the File menu, select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized. Click on Show Deatils to see all available settings.
    3. In the expanded Print window you will find next to Copies the checkbox for Two-Sided. Check the box.
NOTE: If the checkbox does not appear within the specific application print dialog, skip this step.
I skipped the above step since the two sided printing box does not appear on the print drop down Menu (and no expanded print window available).
    I  went on to #4.
    4. To select the binding type click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
    5. Select Layout from the drop-down menu.
    6. Set the Two-Sided option as Long-Edge binding (Portrait), or Long-Edge binding (landscape).
Now, I don't show a "binding type" In the Layout" selection in the drop-down menu, etc.
Shlomil suggested if this didn't work to reset the printing system. I'm really scared to do that because I have 3 printers and a scanner in different locations. When I selected the reset printing system the drop down said it would delete everything...all printers, scanners, faxes, etc.
Is there any other less severe solution? I'm stumped! This all worked before (two sided printing, print/scan). The only thing I can think of is when I correct permissions or update to a newer OS.
    Please HELP!
    This question was solved.

Well...I can't believe it!  Please disregard my ramblings.
I mucked around in the printer stuff and in System Preferences "Printers & Scanners", selected "Options & Supplies"  rather than the "Open Print Queue" and then selected "Options". The  "HP Two-sided Printing Accessory (Duplex)" box was located there. It was not checked. Although I don't know how it got unchecked, I checked it and it fixed my problems.
    Thanks Again

  • CS5 Print Booklet not working correctly - double sided issues

    Hi,
So I'm very familiar with Print Booklet and have done many books in the past double-sided, but somehow in the last few months, my InDesign is having trouble with page sequence when printing booklets. Instead of printing the odd spreads how it should ... I'm getting every other spread (within the 'odd only' or 'even only'). So for instance, in this one signature... I was supposed to get a print of the spread with pages 11 and 14, followed by the center of the signature which contained pages 12 and 13 on the left and right, respectively. What happened was 12/13 never printed but the spread before it did print, and the spread before THAT one didn't print. In the "preview" part on Print Booklet, it looks normal. It's just when it actually goes to print, it has a problem.
I've tried printing with my printer and on multiple others — happens everytime.
I'm trying to print a 24 page saddle-stitch booklet, double sided. I normally would print the odds first, flip the prints, and then print the evens. I have "print blank pages" and "print blank printer spreads" checked and everything seems to be normal... except it just keeps printing every other "odd" spread instead of all the odd spreads.
I'm going to be printing a 200+pg book soon with a lot of signatures and really don't want to have to manually organize them all... so any help would be gladly appreciated.
    my settings
I don't know if any of this even makes any sense... let me know. I'll do my best to explain it better. THANK YOU!

Your screen captures look correct, so the next step would be to go into the print driver (Click the Printer button, I believe) and check there to see if you've got it set to skip pages. After that, try trashing your prefs: Replace Your Preferences

  • Print spread double-sided

    Hello,
i have a nagging question that's been bugging me since i ever started using indesign CS4:
how do i print double-sided spreads in a single-side printer?
the print shops i work for(and myself of course) want me to print a makeshift of a book which i do using the print booklet option on 2-up spread, but they're consecutive and i haven't found any option to alternate spreads for single side printing. It'll all be ok if i had a double-sided printer so i'd use a driver setting and force doubleside on the printer itself, but without that option....
is this possible or wasn't even considered?, because the other solution is to print spread by spread and manually feeding each page back which is totally unproductive....

Like my answer of yesterday you can use the 2-up Consecutive feature of Print Booklet and enter you page numbers/order manually.

  • Flipped even-numbered pages when printing double-sided from Preview

My HP 2015dn printer has the ability to print double-sided. Yet I'm finding that when printing from Preview, the even-numbered pages are flipped 180 degrees. I can see the rationale for this, but I'd like to disable it and have the orientation the same for both odd- and even-numbered pages. There is a setting in the print dialog to "automatically rotate each page," but that is not what I want.
    Any ideas?

That fixed it. The pdfs were rotated so that they would appear in landscape orientation on my screen (they're originally photocopies of side-by-side book pages). Well, now I understand the difference between short-edge and long-edge binding! Thanks for your help.

  • Double sided prints for binding

I'm trying to print on double sided A4 paper which I intend to bind into a hard cover book. I can't figure some things out:
    1. I read in a post here that Aperture had a print even/odd pages only option, but I can't find it in the print dialog box. I'm using version 2.1.3. Was this feature taken out?
    2. Since I'm going to bind the pages, I need space on the left side for odd pages and space on the right side for even pages. I found margin options for left/right side stapling in the Print Settings dialog, but they don't seem to do anything.
    Help!

When I did this, I had to export the book as a PDF, open it in Preview and manually rotate ever other page by 180 degrees, but I was using paper which had binding holes and a margin at one end, so you couldn't simply flip each sheet and re-feed it in.

  • Cannot print double-sided from Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.2

Cannot print double-sided from Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.2
Problem limited to Adobe Acrobat, MS Office 2008, Pages, Keynote.
Can print double-sided from Safari and Mac Mail
Using HP Color LaserJet 2605dtn. Have downloaded most recent driver from HP
    Computer: Apple MacPro Tower, 6GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM, Quad-Core Intel Xeon, Processor speed = 3.2 GHz

Correct way to install new driver is go to Printer Utility and delete That printer from the list.
    Then install the new driver.
Then go back to Printer Utility and add the new driver Back
Then go to systems preferences and to Print Fax (or Printer if no longer setup for fax) and set up for the the printer and set as default.
This way you shouldn't have to go into either print menu or Page setup menu and set for desired printer.
most hp printer in the pint menu you click copies and pages and mouse down to two sided pages you choose either book (facing pages) or Tablet (printed as you would a Tablet that's bound at the top.
you need to test a two page document to see which does correctly for you. Its best never to have the application set for two sided. in fact if you have set for two sided in both one counter acts the the other.
So set it only in the printer menu and no where else.
Also once you set up you can save printer profiles that you can go back to click on the Presets button mouse down to very bottom save with a anme you can remember even put the words two-sided in title then save. Then you can go to that preset and print your heart out.
