Double sided printing problem -odd number of pages only

If I print something with 8 or 12 pages or whatever (even numbers) everything works great. For 9 or 15 or whatever odd numbers it becomes sort of like a random number generator. Page 1 is ok but the backside where 2 should go may be blank as could be page 4. The last page prints on the very last page that should be blank. If I have a 9 page document I can select pages 1-8 and then separately print just page 9 and it works good.

Hey , I see that you are having some issues with printing from your Windows Vista PC to your Deskjet 1510. Now a printer only prints what the computer tells it to print, but I can help you find the issue on your PC.
Here's what we'll do:Turn the printer offClose all programs on your PC.Open your Control Panel and then Printers and Faxes.Right click on the picture of the printer.Click on Remove Device.Repeat if you have any more copies of your Deskjet 1510 listed.Turn the printer on.If the printer did not appear in this window after turning on the printer and waiting a few minutes then click on Add Printer at the top.Follow the prompts to add the printer back.Try printing again. This should sort out your issue with printing pages in the wrong order. If it does not then try the following:Uninstall and reinstall the printer.Uninstall and reinstall the sotware you are printing from.Try a different program. If it does then please let other users know by clicking on Accept as Solution below my post. Likewise if you have any more questions please let me know.
I hope this helps and I hope you have a great weekend!

  • Creating PDFs for Double Sided Printing Problem

I'm not having trouble printing, but with generating a pdf that will print double sided correctly. Currently I have a pdf with many invoices on it. Some are an odd number of pages long and some even. The problem I have is if I don't insert a blank page to the invoices with an odd number of pages (to make it even), then the next invoice's 1st page will be on the back of the previous invoice.
    Example:
    Invoice #1 has 3 pages
    Invoice #2 has 4 pages
    Invoice #3 has 2 pages
    After double-siding
    Invoice #1
    Page 1
Front: Page 1 from Invoice 1
Back: Page 2 from Invoice 1
    Page 2
Front: Page 3 from Invoice 1
Back: Page 1 from Invoice 2 <------ This is my issue

    Hi Brian
this is addressed in 5.6.2, you can force and odd or even page to end the document, if you need the extra blank page to finish on a odd page say XMLP will insert it for you. Check the docs, http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25516_11/current/acrobat/115xdoug.zip

  • Double-sided printing problem Acrobat Pro

I am trying to print pdf docs (downloaded from scientfic journals) and do right thing by manual doubled-sided printing i.e. print even pages first in reverse, turn paper over and then print odd pages.
When I first print even pages in reverse it prints second page twice and when I print odd pages it does not print last page.
I have doing this for last 5 years using older versions of Acrobat Professional with no problems.
Windows XP Professional - Have lastest updates on Acrobat.
    Thank you.

    >I have doing this for last 5 years using older versions of Acrobat Professional with no problems.
and what version are you using now?

  • HP Deskjet 6988 double sided printing problem

I'm new to Snow Leopard running 10.6.2. I installed HP update 2.5.2. In the past I usually left the option set to print double sided and the driver figured out what to do with a single page item. Now, with a single page, it prints it, waits for the ink to dry and then prints blank on the other side. Even worse, I asked for 10 copies of a single page and got 10 copies - one on each side of 5 pages. It's not a problem if I know how much paper a document requires but a pain when printing something off the web or an email where I don't know how long it will be.
Should I install the driver from HP?

I just purchased a duplexer for an HP Deskjet 6988.
It works fine on my Macs running 10.5.X but doesn't work on my Macbook Air running 10.6.6. I'm able to select two sided printing from several applications, Apple and non Apple applications on the 10.5.X machines. The Air, it doesn't even recognize that it can print two sided.
I've called Apple, they told me they don't have anything to do with the printer software even after I explained that I can print on older software and not on the latest machine. They directed me to HP. I called HP and they said they don't have drivers for 10.6 for this printer and told me to download the 10.5 software after resetting the printer. None of this worked. Turning the printer off, then deleting the printer software, adding it, restarting the computer ... all failed.
$1800 computer that can't print two sided. Go figure.
If anyone has a solid solution short of replacing a three year old, light used printer, I'm all ears.
    Thanks

  • Printing double sided odd number of pages

I have Adobe Reader 10.0.2 instalied on my iMac running Mac OS 10.6.7 with a Canon Pixma iP4200 printer. Since installing this version of Reader I have come across a curious problem with printing PDF files double sided with an odd number of pages.
For example, a three page PDF file printed double sided. The first page prints first, then pages 2 and 3 print double sided. This leaves a blank page on the reverse side of page 1 which is INCORRECT and has me puzzled. Normal double sided printing should have pages 1 and 2 back to back and page 3 with a blank page on the reverse.
All my other software on my iMac prints an odd numbered file double sided correctly. It is only Reader 10.0.2 that has this problem and would appreciate a solution.
Have I found a bug in the Reader software?.
    Regards
    Peter AKA DaftBrush

    Hello
I specially created a PDF of three pages with no page breaks or section breaks. The problem still persists no matter what way I set the printing order of the pages, that is automatic, normal or reverse when double sided printing. The same file in MS Word format prints perfectly.
My only solution at the moment is to add a blank page at the end of a PDF document that has an odd number of pages.
I would like to know if I have discovered a bug in Adobe Reader and is there a fix that I can download to solve the problem.
    Regards

  • 7410 double sided printing

Well here I am again with printing problems.
I have a Mac Book Pro using OS 10.9.5, Mavericks. I managed to resolve my Print/Scan problem with Shlomil's help. Also, he helped me some time ago with a double sided printing problem. Now I find I have the same double sided printing problem but am unable to follow his advice (which fixed the problem last time)....
Now, The two sided printing box does not appear on the print drop down menu! So, I went on to the following (using the last advice Shlomil provided)...
"1. Verify the duplex-printing accessory has been installed properly. To verify this open the System Preferences and go to Printers & Scanners. Open the print queue of your printer. Click on Printer Setup and from the tab menu choose Driver. Verify the box next to HP Two-sided Printing Accessory (Duplexer) is checked."
However, when I select the "Open Print Queue" there is no "Printer Setup" on the tab menu. So, I can't verify the "HP Two-sided Printing Accessory (Duplexer) is checked " (unless I'm doing something wrong). I  and went on to #2.
    2. On the File menu, select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized. Click on Show Deatils to see all available settings.
    3. In the expanded Print window you will find next to Copies the checkbox for Two-Sided. Check the box.
NOTE: If the checkbox does not appear within the specific application print dialog, skip this step.
I skipped the above step since the two sided printing box does not appear on the print drop down Menu (and no expanded print window available).
    I  went on to #4.
    4. To select the binding type click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
    5. Select Layout from the drop-down menu.
    6. Set the Two-Sided option as Long-Edge binding (Portrait), or Long-Edge binding (landscape).
Now, I don't show a "binding type" In the Layout" selection in the drop-down menu, etc.
Shlomil suggested if this didn't work to reset the printing system. I'm really scared to do that because I have 3 printers and a scanner in different locations. When I selected the reset printing system the drop down said it would delete everything...all printers, scanners, faxes, etc.
Is there any other less severe solution? I'm stumped! This all worked before (two sided printing, print/scan). The only thing I can think of is when I correct permissions or update to a newer OS.
    Please HELP!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Well...I can't believe it!  Please disregard my ramblings.
I mucked around in the printer stuff and in System Preferences "Printers & Scanners", selected "Options & Supplies"  rather than the "Open Print Queue" and then selected "Options". The  "HP Two-sided Printing Accessory (Duplex)" box was located there. It was not checked. Although I don't know how it got unchecked, I checked it and it fixed my problems.
    Thanks Again

  • HP Laserjet P3015 double sided - the last odd page prints on the same page when printing two copies

HP Laserjet P3015 double sided printing is set up on Windows 7.  When printing two copies of a document, if it has odd number of pages, the last page is printed on both sides of the page. There is no page feed for the last page.
Suppose say there are 3 pages in a document and you want to print two copies. It prints like 1/2, 1/2 and 3/3.  The third page (odd number) print on the same page. The last page page does not print on two pages.
It works alright on Windows XP.

Hope that you have configured the correct paper type and size in the printer hardware and also selecting the same paper tray, size, type from the printer driver while printing.
It may be caused due to the job formatting done by the application software or some jobs settings done from the job/application or printer driver.  Check by toggling the 'collate' option and also try to print from a different application software.

  • How do you print two-sided in In Design when some sections have an odd number of pages?

I'm new to In Design, and I'm trying to do something that seems pretty basic and having trouble figuring out how to do it, and I haven't found anything in the Adobe Forum or online that addresses this situation.
I am working on a document that is broken into sections, with page numbering starting on Page 1 for each section.  I have mirror image layouts for the odd and even master pages - for example, the page number is on the left side on even pages and on the right side for odd pages, as you might generally expect to see on a two-sided printout, where in a book or a binder, the even pages are on the left and the odd pages are on the right.
I'm printing the document from my computer onto a printer that supports two-sided printing.  I don't see any options in the File / Print window for two sided printing, so I set this option on the printer itself using the [Setup...] button at the bottom of the window.  This works - I am getting the printout on both sides of the sheets of paper.
At the moment, the first section is 3 pages (two spreads, one with the first page, and one with the other two).  The next section starts with page number 1 on the third spread (one page) and then continues two pages per spread - all as expected.
Here's the problem - the first page of the second section is printing on the back of the last sheet of first section, rather than starting on a new front-facing sheet - so when I put this in a binder, the odd pages are on the left and the even pages on the right.  Every time I hit the end of another section with an odd number of pages, it flips around again.
There's a manual workaround I found - scan through the document and add a blank page to the end of every section that has an odd number of pages (and check "Print Blank Pages).  But I'd have to do this every time I print as I'm adding new pages, and add/delete blank pages as the number in each section changes.
I can't believe that In Design doesn't provide a way to get this to work properly, as I'm sure many people have had this same situation, and I'm hoping that it's some simple thing that I just haven't been able to figure out...
    HELP!!! (thanks!  B^)

Well, MS Word does something like this automatically - if you tell it to start a new section on an odd page, and if the section before it ends on an odd page, it will "skip" the even page number in between - and when it prints, it automatically spits out a blank page in between them, so that on a two-sided printer, the odd pages all print on the front of the paper (which is the right-facing sheet when they are put in a binder or book).
InDesign shows the pages like this on the spreads (odd page numbers always on the right), so it is aware of the desired orientation, and I'd think it would provide a mechanism to ensure that they print out this way as well...

  • Last page of pdf inverted when double-sided printing

Last year, my old tower Mac (OSX10.7.5)  suddenly began printing out the last page (only) of any PDF with an odd number of pages inverted in both vertical and horizontal axes (i.e. upside down mirror-writing), when doing double-sided printing on our HP Color Laserjet CP4005dn.  Single sided printing from the same Mac and PDF worked fine. The same last page also prints correctly if I simply chose to print that page alone.  I do not have the 'flip horizontal' checkbox ticked.  I could find no solution.
I bought an iMac 27" late 2013 with OSX 10.9.4:  all upgrades installed.  I still have the same problem.  I repeat, this only happens in double-sided printing (selected 'long edge binding' under Layout) of the last page of a PDF with odd-numbered pages.  Word .docx  and other documents print just fine from the same computer and printer with same settings in the Print dialogue.
    Any suggestions?
MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), plus iMac 27" OSX 10.9.4

  • Double sided printing

    Hi everyone,
I've been reading posts by others regarding problems with double sided printing on mac. Since I changed to a mac, I havent been able to print double sided from my epson sx425w printer. This can be quite annoying if you a lot of pages to print. The double sided print option is just disabled so I cant even select it and I dont have the option of "Duplexer" or "Duplex Printing" as suggested in other posts. Besides, I've not been able to use my scanner since upgrading to Mavericks-I know others have had similar problems too.
    Anyone come across similar problems?
    Thanks

The sx425w is not listed on:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669
which means you are totally dependent on the Epson drivers.  There are sx420w drivers, which may work for it, or may not.  Contact Epson for details.
The sx425w drivers for Print and Scan has not been updated since 2010:
    http://esupport.epson-europe.com/FileDetails.aspx?lng=en-IE&data=FCFfEfoyEiHIEHY ej3fxPyCU002F5lk7kA7sM98zHIPBYkwU003D&id=327010
    (print)

    (scan)
And as such may still have elements to try to maintain compatibility with applications requiring old PowerPC code, which won't work with Mac OS X 10.7 or later.
The good news is that they mention the sx420w driver.    So that suggests after applying it, and the update from Apple:
Epson Printer Drivers v2.17 for OS X
It may work.  Repairing permissions with Disk Utility may help after all is said and done.  Otherwise at least for scanning you may be forced to use open source drivers on my FAQs*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/printersx.html
    http://www.macmaps.com/macosxnative.html#SCANNER
Alternatively for duplex printing, you could print just even pages at one time, and then rotate the pages 180 degrees and flip them upside down and print odd pages to achieve duplex printing.  Test first with only a couple pages in the tray until you get the sequence right.

  • HP Photosmart D7160 printer could it be fitted with a double sided print unit?

I only need to know if my HP Photosmart D7160 printer was made with the provision of or could it be fitted with a double sided print unit.?  If I had got the answer I would have purchased the required part.
i have been searching the HP web site on and off for the last four years for the answer to this question only to find myself going round in circles without ever getting any practical answer.  If and when HP have the courage to answer the question
and the answer is what I think it will be I will take the printer back whence it came from and demand a refund in full!
I have just tried a spell check and the website doesn't recognised the name/number of HP manufactured equipment that is clearly printed on the front cover and when I instal HP print cartriges HP tell me I have been a good boy.

Page 9 of the user manual indicates there is an optional accessory for double side printing.  The data sheet here indicates that (in the US) the part number is:
    HP ph5582 Two-sided Printing Accessory
    Q5582A
    HP ph5582 Two-sided Printing Accessory Q5582A
A Google search turns up a number of offerings.

  • No longer receive dialog box for double sided printing

Usually when printing double sided documents the odd numbered pages print and then I get a dialog box telling me to flip over the pages and click continue and then the even numbered pages print. That box no longer appears after the odd numbered pages print and I'm unable to print the even numbered pages.  1.  How do I get the dialog box back (perhaps someone clicked the box stating "do not show this message again"?  2. If I don't get the dialog box back, how do I print the even number pages without the dialog box?  Currently, the power light blinks and no other documents can print.  I have F380 printer and I have Windows Vista.

    David,
Wow, it worked. Many thanks. This is what I did, following your directions to print PDF files as double-sided:
    01-Command P & Click "Printer button".
    02-Click Yes.
03-Click the Popup Arrow to display contents.
04-Select Two-sided "Long-Edge binding" or whatever needed and Click Print.
    05-Click OK to Print.
What fooled me is that from Word (.doc) files the screen on step 3 and 4 show directly selecting a popup menu on the initial print window, whereas when printing PDF files it is required to go through steps 1-2-3 above.
Again, many thanks. You made my day!!!

  • Double sided printing for canon

how to print double sided printing for canon mp287?

I am having the same problem. I just got a cannon MG2520 and I've been trying to print double sided...however it's not a grayed out option. This is extremely infuriating because I need to print about 50 slides off every few days for class. I've tried everything people have offered so far. There is no "duplex managing" or something to that effect when I go through systems and preferences. I read somewhere else to change format for to the specific printer and use "letter" instead of "US letter." However, US letter isn't even an option for me. I tried to go through preview and it just kept making the slides go the wrong way and wouldn't let me print multiple slides to one pages. As of now I have to manually go through, hit handouts (6 slides per page) and then count what number slides those are in order to print it right....this is extremely frustrating!! Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
