Double sound for mail notifications

Hi!  Since I've upgraded my iphone 3g to ios 4.2.1, I've been having double mail notification sounds.  Here's how they happen.  I basicaly hear the sound (and-or vibration) I usually hear when I receive an email, only when I go to check it out, there's no email, even when I open the inbox to manually check it out.  A minute later, I hear the sound again, and the email is received.  It's as if there's a sound to predict an incoming message, and does it every single time.  Not a big problem, but annoying anyways.
I already tried restoring, but did back up from my settings.  I want to see if there's a solution other than a restore + set up as a new phone...  Anyone can help?

Settings > Notification Center > Mail > Select the mail account (if more than one) > Alert Sound > None

  • How do I turn off sound for mail notifications?

Just got my first iPhone (I know, welcome to the 21st Century). I've had Android before this. I have it synced to my work e-mail, but I don't want a sound playing every time I get a work e-mail, because then my phone annoyingly chirps all day at work, when I already get an alert on my computer for the new mail. I only want to be able, when away from the office, to do a quick check and see that I have a new e-mail.
In Sound, I selected "None" for New Mail, both for the Alert Tone and the Vibration. In Notification Center, "Mail" shows up in the "Do Not Include" list. Yet still, my iPhone plays a tone every single time a new e-mail comes in. What am I doing wrong?

Settings > Notification Center > Mail > Select the mail account (if more than one) > Alert Sound > None

  • Disable sound/vibrations for mail notifications

I am using the push service for my @me.com account. However I find the notification sound or the vibration in silent mode annoying. Is there any way to disable both?

In Setting>Sounds you can turn off the sounds for New Mail.

  • How do I create different alert sounds for various notifications?

i'm not near the techy many of you are, but this question is way basic even for me.  sorry.  but my phone makes the same sound for every single notification, new text, appointment reminder, battery fully charged (although that one always comes if and only if i wake it up, so sometimes it is on the charger longer than it needs to be ), download complete... it is the sound i set up under the settings, but i wonder if there isn't a way to change the particular sound for certain types of notifications so when it is across the room making noise i can register what sort of notification i'm getting without dropping everything i'm doing to go stare at my phone.  and how do i get it to repeat/remind me of these notifications if i happened to miss the alert sound the first time? i am usually good at just figuring this stuff out, but at this point, my guess is it isn't possible. does this mean an app is my answer? recommendations? thanks!

Individual text message ringtones per each contact is not a feature of the stock message application. You will need a third party text message application from the Android Market for that.
Individual ringtones for phone calls from contacts is an option under the People/Contacts app.

  • How to get iPhone sounds for Mail.app on Snow Leopard?

    Hi,
I like the "new text message" sound called "Chime". I would like to use this sound for new mails in Mail.app, too. Is there any way I can download this sound on my MacBook Pro (from some webpage?)?
The sound "Glas" is available both on Mail.app and on the iPhone, but note the "Chime" sound.
    Cheers

  • Charm:multiple recipients for mail notification

    Hi Experts,
I'm using Charm and I configured the mail notification when a new change request is created.
I would know if Is it possible to setup multiple e-mail addresses for the mail notification.
    I follow these steps:
    - transaction BP
    - selected the specific BP
    - selected the tab page "Address"
    - selected the field "E-Mail"
    - selected the button "Other E-Mail adresses (Available)"
    - put three mail adresses
Now if I send the mail notifaction to this BP the mail is send only to one user.
Can any one help me to resolve this issue?
    thanks in advance
    regards
    gio'

    Hi Jason,
I have created the shared distribution list in the solution manager but when I try to put It in the field "E-mail" in the BP the following error appear:
    E-Mail format not valid
It seems that It's not possible to insert the distribution list in the E-Mail field of the BP.
    Any other idea?
    Thanks in advance for collaboration
    regards

  • No sound for email notification

The sound in Mail seems to work occassionally, but since the latest software update I have no sound at all.  Any suggestions?

I don't have Soundflower so unfortunately that wasn't a solution I could use - but I did go into the midi sound application and toggle the settings. I see to have re-awoken my audio and the Mail sounds are back. What has happened in the past is I have had a recurring sound - like an echo, that has just gone on and on and on - the sound of mail sending (the jet sound) on repeat.  That happens sometimes when I plug in my ear phones.  Anyway - midi toggling seemed to work. We'll see if it lasts.

  • No sound for push notifications

I've noticed recently that I'm no longer getting any sound when I receive a push notification. The alert itself comes through visually, but it's silent.
Sound is otherwise working -- receiving telephone calls, SMS alerts, iPhone through the speaker, etc.
    Anyone seen this before?

    ataylor87,
Yes, all apps that support push notifications have sound turned on.
Specifically, I'm seeing alerts but no sound from things like Mint, Foursquare, and Facebook apps.
(Although, Facebook just launched push notifications into the app, and those notifications are working intermittently.... but not with sound, at any rate.)

  • Changing ipod touch mail notification tone

can I change the sound the touch makes when it revieces new email?

You can't change the high pitched beep the Touch makes for new mail, but you can deactivate it.
go to Settings>General>Sound Effects and either select off or Headphones only. The sound for mail notification over the Headphones is the more familiar default sound made by most Apple computers.

  • Turn off sound for notifications

  • Lost sound on mail attachments

I lost sound for mail attachments when I installed Mountain Lion.  Have sound for everything else.  Any ideas?

Not sure what you mean about sound for an attachment in Mail. However, the sounds in mail are controlled through Mail > Preferences in the menu bar up top. Under the General tab you can control the sounds:
