Double space issue in word 2010

Hi,
I am currently converting all my word 97 documents to word 2010.
I need to mail merge the document.
In the development mode of word the double space is present after period (Full stop).
After generating the document through application , the double space is not appearing.
Eg.,.
Before : to.  But
After Generating: to.But
Thanks.

Hi Pradeep,
I am wondering whether you could reproduce your issue manually. If it also occurs when you manually generate, it seems to be a product related issue. If it works correctly when you manually generate, but not correctly in your development, I recommend you
share more details about your program and it would be helpful if you could share us a simple demo to reproduce your issue.
If your issue is a product related issue, I would recommend go to the link below for help:

  • Issue with Word 2010

    Hi Team,
We are facing issue with Word 2010.
User has created a document in Word 2007 and they inserted a symbol °C in Times New Roman and Areal.
Please find below the text which has issue.
    干燥温度:60℃
    温度:95℃,
In the document, instead of ℃ it is showing blocks, when we open it in MS Word  2010. (Eg: 60℃, 95℃).
     We have tried the following.
    1.       If we select the square and click on any other font, it will change to °C with formatted font Cambria Math. We can have it by selecting any font.
    2.       I have tried to copy the line and paste it to excel/WordPad/notepad
    •  Excel(2010) : It is displayed properly(°C) but the font was Times New Roman and Arial as the word document has Times New Roman and Arial respectively.
    •  Notepad: It is displayed properly(°C) but the font was Lucida Console
    •  WordPad: The symbol is not displayed correctly (Squares and vertical lines). It is having the same issue as we have with word document.
    3.       I just selected the whole text and had Ctrl+space , then all the corrupted characters turned to original one (°C with formatted font Cambria Math) : we can use this as a work around.
    4.       I have created a word document and I typed °C in that document with fonts Times New Roman ,Arial, SimSun and STKaiti and saved the document. When I opened the document I was able to see °C properly.
    Kindly help.
    Regards,
    Sooraj

    Hi Sooraj:
For checking the encoding of your documents, please follow below steps:
Rename your documents from xxxx.docx to xxxx.zip
The zip folder will contains basically folders: rels, docProps, word and one [Content_Types].xml
Browse to word, open document.xml file,
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="true"?>,
the first line will suggest the encoding type of the document.
Except checking the encoding difference, could you please do one more thing that is copying the font like
“Times New Roman” from a computer which display the symbol correctly to the computer which has issue, and please let me know the results, thank you.

  • Graphic issues in Word 2010 and 2013

The problem is it reformats your original image to fall within this shape below. Everything within that triangle is white and your original image only shows through the remaining part of the oval. I have attached a Word document with a few examples. It cuts
off part of the logo, signatures, etc.
So far, we have found this occurring in 2 situations:
    1. .docx is generated in third party application. We open this in Word 2003 and save as .doc. Then if that .doc is then opened by someone else using Word 2010 or 2013, it has this issue.
    2. The other situation was just a .doc created (outside of the third party application) that is used as a VBA component. If they open that .doc in Word 2013 it has this issue but other .doc files are fine.
One other note, we can open these files in Word 2003 and 2007 and the images look fine. It only happens when opening in Word 2010 or 2013.
Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions? I have tested both .tif & .jpg to see if the original image format made a difference and it doesn’t appear to. Unfortunately, it’s impacting tens of thousands of Word docs stored in archive.
I don't see where I could upload a file, but I do have example documents.
    Thanks,
    Dawn

    Hi Dawn:
After testing from myside, I found if you
change the picture format, it will fix the display issue. You can
manually changing the format of the Graphic: select the graphic->select format tab on the Ribbon->change to any format you want. You can also
use VBA code to change the format of the picture, for detailed information you can refer to
    This article.
Below are some findings for your reference.
I checked the documents you sent to me, as the issue occurred when if the file saved as .docx or opened with word 2010/2013, so I zipped the file and compared the xml files, I found something
might be the cause of this issue.
The pictures in media folder were all fine no missing parts even for those ones displayed wrongly in Word.
I compared the document.xml file under ….\Graphic issue\Issue.docx\word(where I stored the zip file), I found the documents.xml of issue.docx file has section called <a:custGeom>………
</a:custGeom>, which contains data like below,  maybe it’s inherited from the design tool, somehow, change formatting can get rid of the custGeom. So we suggest you change the format of
    the picture.
    Definition of
custGeom (Custom Geometry)This element specifies the existence of a custom geometric shape.

  • Https issues in Word 2010

    Hi,
I have problems opening a file via Active X control and https and need some ideas how to proceed with the analysis.
The server is a custom WebDAV implementation on a SAP Netweaver 7.40 system.
    The following behaviour:
    http works without problems
https is OK if I copy and paste into an IE window or file open dialogue, but I do get several client certficate popups. It does not matter whether I choose the correct certificate or cancel the popup
https via documents.open of the word application causes an error
https over ActivceX works fine when I try to log the communication with Fiddler
I have the same question in the Word forums, but no solutions yet. I'll add the link once I'm allowed to post links
    Regards
     Andre

Check the following steps (Remember to backup before you modify your registry):
Adjust the Basic Authentication Level key in the Registry Editor.
Open the Registry Editor by selecting Start > Run, and then typing
    regedit.
On Windows XP and above, select Start >Accessories > Run.
    Locate the key
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\WebClient\Parameters\.
Create a new DWORD value for basic authentication. On Windows XP, set the basic authentication parameter to 1.
    Examples:
On Windows XP, create the DWORD parameter
UseBasicAuth and set the value to 1. For example,
    UseBasicAuth = 1.
On Windows Vista and above, create the DWORD parameter BasicAuthLevel
and set the value to 2. For example, BasicAuthLevel=2
    Also check the steps below:
In the Registry Editor, select the key
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Internet.
Create a new DWORD value called
    BasicAuthLevel.
    Set the value of
    BasicAuthLevel to 2.

  • Trouble converting Word 2010 file into PDF

I have a file that was original composed in Word 2007.  It has a box with dialog on the front page (think a disclaimer on the cover of a brochure).  I use Acrobat 9 Pro.  Converting that file was perfect.  I recently upgraded to Word 2010 and I open, edit and save the document in compatibility mode.  When I print to Adobe (or alternatively convert the file), the disclaimer in the text box doesn't convert properly.  The rest of the document looks fine, but the text in the box is smushed to the far right of the box.  I have no idea what to do.  Another person I sent the file to has no issues converting from Word 2007.  Is there a known issue with Word 2010?  Is there a fix or plug-in?  Thanks all.

    Bon dias,
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
Adobe has not formally tested Acrobat 9 software with Microsoft Office 2010 applications and does not certify the behavior of using the two together.
The Acrobat ribbons, also known as Acrobat PDFMaker, do not work with Office 2010 applications the same way they do with Office 2007. Customers using Acrobat 9.0 through 9.2 will see the Acrobat ribbon in Office 2010 applications; however, attempting to use PDFMaker functionality from the Acrobat ribbon can result in unexpected behavior. Customers who update to Acrobat 9.3 or later will not see the Acrobat 9 ribbon in Office 2010 applications.
Adobe plans to add support for its Acrobat PDFMaker technology for Office 2010 in the next major version of Acrobat.*
We have not made any announcements about updating Acrobat 9 PDFMakers for Office 2010.

  • Word 2010 - Extra Space Around Checkbox Content Controls - only on some computers

I am experiencing a problem with Word 2010 adding extra above/below spacing on content control checkboxes, but only on some of our computers. We have a template we use that is the same file for our network. On some of the computers in our office however,
we get extra spacing what can not be removed.
I am at a lose to fix this and have been trying for about 3 weeks. The settings are the same on all the computers. The user can switch to another computer and the form will open correctly, but if they move back to their workstation and try to reopen it there
the double spacing returns - again only for the checkbox content controls.
Attached are two images - Correct formatting, and then what happens on some of the computers. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Some issues worth noting:
    1. Word uses information returned by the active printer driver to manage a document's layout. This can result in line spacing, text-wrapping, and so on varying from one PC to the next - or even on the same PC when switching to a printer that uses a different
    driver.
    2. Differences in font versions (or the use of a font that is available on one PC and not another) can result in line spacing, text-wrapping, and so on varying from one PC to the next.
    3. Differences in Word version (or even update state) may result in line spacing, text-wrapping, and so on varying from one PC to the next.
    4. Your document that displays the extra spacing has Word's formatting display switched on - even that can change the appearance if the document contains hidden content.
    5. Various Word options can also affect line spacing, text-wrapping, and so on. These include having Word configured to 'optimize character positioning for layout rather than readability', 'scale content for A4 or 8.5x11" paper sizes' and, perhaps,
the use of draft print quality.
Obviously, there are multiple possibilities to work through, ensuring all PCs & printer configurations are the same. That said, your use of tables allows you the option of setting the row heights to 'exact' measurements, so they won't expand as they
evidently now can. You can also try setting the paragraph line spacings and before/after spacings to precise numbers of points, for example, so they don't auto-adjust.
    Cheers

  • Word 2010 (64-bit on Win7 64-bit) crashes crashes on opening any document by double-click.

Sad to have to open repeat thread, but I'm having the same problem that Maurice Reed was having (that thread is now locked, although I didn't see any solution there).
I have a fresh installation of Windows 7 (64) and Office 2010 (64). Any time I double-click on a document to open it (that is, any time I open a document from Windows Explorer), Word 2010 crashes.
This includes situations where Word 2010 is already running and I open a doc or docx from Windows.
This also happens with NEWLY CREATED documents. I tested this by opening Word and creating and saving a brand new document. Opening that doc (docx) from Windows triggers this crash.
I tried deleting the Normal.dot as was suggested in other threads.
Also tried installing updates and hotfix from Microsoft. No luck.
I'm curious as to why Maurice's thread was locked when there didn't appear to be any resolution to it.
I'm stunned that such a widespread problem would go without a patch, hotfix or resolution for so many months. Am I missing something? I've been researching this for about a month off and on now. Have yet to see an actual fix. On the other hand, I've heard
about this problem from others even before it happened to me.
What's going on up there? Where are Bartley & Jeanne when we need them. ;D
        - Dave F.

    Hi Dave,
Maurice's thread was locked because he is using Office 2010 Beta, and his post is in the forum for Office Beta, since the Beta is past due, the whole forum is locked.
Let's go back to your question.
Have you installed the Office 2010 Service Pack 1? The service pack fixes many issues, you should try if you haven't.
    Download
the Microsoft Office 2010 Service Pack 1 64-bit package now.
I may to metion is that all I know the Office 2010 64-bit will work smoothly with Windows 7 64-bit, cause I'm using it for my daily work.
So, the problem you met with mostly caused by the 3rd-party add-ins/services.
Have you tried to open the document by holding the Ctrl key? This will open the document in safe mode, if you are able to do so, this will help us to narrow down the root cause.
If it will crash even when you start it in safe mode, let's try to run a clean boot to check this issue. In a clean boot, lots of service will be disabled, if we wouldn't get problem in a clean boot, then we can enable the service little by little, then
we can find out which service might cause this issue.
For a detail instruction, you can refer to this kb:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Let me know the result, any questions, feel free to let me know.
    Sincerely,

  • Word 2008 line spacing.. is single space and double space all messed up?

Very basic here: in print layout view (only one I am using) the single spacing and double spacing seem so far apart. Single spacing is way too far apart. Is anyone else seeing this?

That is the issue. I am hitting enter and getting a big space. I see a similar thing in Pages. All I know is tht in 2004 version, I start all my papers with 4 lines in top corner (name-enter/date-enter/assignment/class#-enter) I do these with single space just by default on Word.
THen I go to format-paragraph-double space, and do my writing--double spaced.
This is weird to me. I like word 2008, looks nice, notebook is cool. But I don't like having to re-learn that stuff. Is this how everybody does this? Everyone out of the box can not just type and choose single/double space? We have to edit some paragraph spacing? HUH?

  • Acrobat XI Pro and MS Word 2010 file conversion issues

I have created a photo journal comprised primarily of photo collages and text boxes using Microsoft Word 2010.  Acrobat XI Pro is installed as well.  When I "Save as Adobe PDF" the resulting PDF is missing many - not all - of the text boxes placed on top of the photos, and the some of the photos themselves are "reordered" - the one placed on top moves to the back.  What might be causing this?
If I select "Save As" and then select the "PDF" option from Word's dropdown menu, the resulting PDF - which is much smaller than the one created by the "Save the Adobe PDF" option - retains all the data in the Word file, in the correct order.
Note - this did not happen when I was using Acrobat X Pro.  And this  file I am currently working with converted perfectly to an Adobe PDF when I was still using Acrobat X Pro.

    Hi,
Can you please share your test file because the issue you mention here seems to be file specific?

  • Windows 7 Word 2010 with EPS A4 Acrobat X Pro Paper Size Issue

I'm running into the following issue trying to create a PDF.
Word 2010 A4 page size. Document has some Illustrator EPS images used in it.
When I go to make the PDF using Acrobat from the top menu and then Create PDF, the page size of the PDF is A4, but the color is the low res bit map preview look. Not acceptable color, all colors converted to CMYK, but the EPS files have incorrect color values.
When I use File Print Acrobat PDF, the color is correct, but it reduces the pages to 8-1/2 x 11. Every setting I can find is calling for a A4 page size. This way the colors are left as the original files CMYK + Pantone colors.
I spent 2-1/2 hours with Adobe on this and they had no solution.
We have tried different Default Settings and no difference.
The Adobe PDF Page Size: is A4.
If we make the page size A3 then it generates a A3 size PDF.
When I was running XP with Word 2003 and Acrobat 9 Pro I didn't run in to this problem.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Acrobat x Pro / Word 2010 issues

I have been using Acrobat 9 Pro for quite sometime.  I just downloaded Acrobat X Pro to try it out hoping I get better results with WORD 2010 than I did with 9.
    I am using Office 2010 32bit, Windows 7, and Acrobat X Pro.
My issues are that When I try to convert a Word 2010 report to PDF, some of the graphics and text end up missing.
I have found that the quality is better when you just go to SAVE AS > (select) PDF.
The Acrobat Ribbon button, the SAVE AS ADOBE PDF, and printing using Adobe options give less than acceptable quality.
Has anyone had the same issues and is there a resolution?  I am no reason to upgrade to "X" otherwise...

    Hi there,
Could you provide some more detail about your file(s)?  Are there any common elements between the files you've been converting to PDF via the PDFMaker Ribbon or the Adobe PDF printer that are disappearing?  Is the text that's disappearing all of a certain font?
I'd like to try to help if you could upload a sample file or provide some additional detail!
    Thanks,

You can turn off the period shortcut, so you can double space yourself easier. In settings, general, keyboard, "." Shortcut OFF. It's a work around.

  • How can i write with double spaces between words ?

    hello everyone,
i need to write in pages with double spaces between words not between lines ..
how can i do it and make it default ?
for now, just write and click space bar twice ..!!!

Do you really need to do this? It is so ugly and illegible.
You can use a monospace font or use the auto-complete in Menu > Pages > Preferences to auto-substitute 2 spaces for each one.
