Please please please tell someone to have a double space create a period at the end of sentences.
Switching back and forth between the keysets is maddening.
It's such a simple request... please.

Here's a great workaround tip from David Pogue's website...
Basically, you can type a period with ease if you simply press the ‘.?123’ key, then keep your finger on the screen and just slide it up and over a bit to the period when the numeric keypad appears. Amazingly, this key reacts as soon as your finger touches it (no lifting required), and the numeric keypad will automatically disappear when it does, leaving you right back where you started with the normal keyboard active—and with a period in your document! And instead of multiple taps, it took but one.
This trick works for any of the keys on the numeric keypad, but it’s most useful for the period and comma. While I’d still prefer to have the period and comma on the main keyboard, this is a really good workaround.

This is probably not the answer to all your questions, but I am sure it answers some.
Unlike Word and InDesign, FrameMaker's anchored frames, which hold graphics, "hang" from their insertion points, typically at the end of the paragraph. An anchored frame that follows a paragraph is set to be below the line, the line being the last line in the paragraph. If you turn on View > Text Symbols, you will see a marker that indicates the point from which the anchored frame is hanging.
If the anchored frame is taller than the available space, it is moved to the next page ALONG with that last line. If the paragraph style/tag has a widow/orphan lines number that is more than 1, then that number of lines are also moved to the next page, because the paragraph tag says to keep that many together, EVEN if there is space at the bottom of the previous page.
So, you can set the widow/orphan lines number smaller OR as you have done put a blank line before the anchored frame, which now holds the marker for the anchored frame, and set its font size to 2 pt (the lowest FrameMaker allows) and its line height to zero. This is the standard workaround UNLESS you use the line above the anchored frame as the title/caption of a figure, which is also a typical way of dealing with FrameMaker's ways.
To my knowledge, one cannot change the default of the checked cropped box. Maybe others know of some way to change this.
There is no page break in FrameMaker, hence there is no symbol for it. In the paragraph designer for the paragraph, you set to Start of the paragraph to Top of page. Top of page is FrameMaker's equivalent to a page break. To "remove" a page break, set the Start of the paragraph to Anywhere.
Since you are new to FrameMaker, I suggest reading throught the User Manual that comes with FrameMaker. You will likely find the answers to most of your questions there.

Help!!!!! Please with Mail App.

Ok so here is my problem. Some how my mail application somehow got deleted because it no where on my computer or in the trash can. What im wanting to know if there is any way to get the application back any way. Im wanting the same one back on my macbook that my computer came with. and yes I did look everywhere for it. I did not have it on my dock so I have not noticed untill today when i went to look for it in the applications folder on the hard drive...If anyone will be of any kind of help it would be awsome.. You might be able to get it back by using Pacifist to examine your Leopard install disk. Get Pacifist from http://www.charlessoft.com/
Look for Mail.app and copy back into your Applications folder.

N8 double spaces in social app and browser text wi...

I experience double spaces for every space typed when entering text in Nokia Social and browser text entry windows. It never happens when texting or using e-mail.
Anyone have a solution?

On my N8, I also get the same thing (double spaces using the Ovi Social app, and I think in the Nokia browser too).
It is really annoying. I have not (yet) contacted Nokia regarding this issue.

How to setup email account on mail app?

I currently have an ".edu" account that I usually log-in through a browser.
I usually place my email username in mail.office365.com then redirects me to adfs."school here".edu
Then I usually do the actual login username and password for the organizational account.
We are currently using the Outlook Web App on our school email.
So, I don't know how to use this .edu account for the mail app in Windows 8.1.
Is there any manual settings to add a microsoft account in windows 8.1?

Did you mean that you want to add a “.edu” account to Mail App (Tile)in win8.1, if so, please open mail app, move mouse to the right edge, click Settings>Accounts>Add an account>Other Account.

Java Regular Expression for double spaces

I am using ([\\s\\s]+) this regex for finding double spaces but if in single segment (Text Line) there exists two or more double spaces then it is finding only one from it .

You have a String, and you want to find if the string have 2 or more than double spaces till the end of the string.

Open the user guide then press Command + F on your keyboard.
Type line spacing in the search field top right corner of that window.

Mail.app adding double spaces

Recently Mail.app has started to replace some single sword spaces in plain-text e-mails with double spaces. I ran some tests and it seems to occur at regular intervals. Every 60+ characters, Mail.app adds a double space between words instead of a single one.
Every message shows up correctly in the "Sent" folder but when I check Hotmail, for example, there are suddenly double spaces popping up here and there. I've checked my e-mail on university campus with another e-mail client (Horde) and it also displayed double spaces every 60 characters or so.
I've tried another POP-account and the problem persisted. I've trashed the Mail.app .plist and the problem is still there. I've looked at every setting in the "Preferences" menu and the problem is still present.
I don't have the first clue what is wrong or how to fix this.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I believe I have a fix; this at least worked for me on both machines (home and work) that were exhibiting this issue:
Quit Mail and Safari (the latter may be voodoo on my part, but why not?)
Open Users -> <username> -> Library -> Mail -> V2 -> MailData (In OS X 10.8, the easy shortcut to the Library folder, which is hidden, is to hold down the Option key and click on the Go menu in the Finder; it'll appear as an option without a keyboard shortcut.)
Move all files with names that begin "Envelope Index" to the Trash. I had three such files.
Restart (again, this may be voodoo)
Open Mail. It will engage in a full reindexing of all your messages. I had about 65,000 messages, and this import/index process took about 10 minutes.
Once import is complete, your inboxes may appear to be empty. I had to quit Mail and relaunch it before all my messages were visible.
After some quick testing on previously problematic emails, the super annoying line break bug seems to be gone!

My hard drive is filling up at the speed of light.
In order to free some space, I have moved all music and videos on a NAS.
I wish I could save some more space by leaving my older mails in the cloud, and just store locally in the mail app a given number of mails, or a given period, or a given space allocation.
Is there a way to implement any of those solutions?

You are presumably using IMAP for gmail. Have you seen the Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Gmail > Advanced setting choices for Keep copies of messages for offline viewing?

The first choice is the default. As long as you always have a good network connection, you could select the last choice. This wouldn't not be as nice as a time-based setting.
Keep in mind how cheap hard disks are. I spent $60 for a 500GB 7200rpm drive for my old MacBook.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Restart the computer. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. Any custom stationery that you created may be lost. Ask for instructions if you want to preserve that data. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app. I am certain other applications also need this information. Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information. When I was trying to delete the emails in my inbox for the Mail app - I followed THESE directions. It did in fact clear my inbox for the Mail app. But then I went to log on to my Outlook account and EVERY SINGLE EMAIL was gone. And not in the Deleted box. Just gone. Here are the directions I followed that screwed everything up. Please help.
Top menu bar, Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors.
Uncheck "Store deleted messages on the server".
At the drop list for "Permanently erase deleted messages when", choose "Quitting Mail".
Next...

At "When searching all mailboxes, include results from", uncheck "Trash".

i found out my prob!
here is what you do.
go to the "system preferences" on your dock.
click "software updates".
click "installed software"
if it shows something about a recent update about "EFI UPDATE, FIRMWARE, THUNDERBOLT" or anything like that, exit out of it.
go to mail.
click "mail" at the top.
click "preferences...".
find the account you are having trouble with, once you do, make sure its highlighted, then click the "-" at the bottom of the window (this will only effect that mail account, it will not effect your ical weather or not its synced thought that email account)
hit the "+" (right next to the "-") and add your accout back!

I had the same experience as you did, but in my case it was a big fat pdf that Mail insisted I had to download before I could view it. As happened with you, I saw the file actually downloading, and after a time I was able to view the pdf. It's been my assumption that the pdf is still somewhere on my iPad, but I have no idea where, nor how to delete it if it is still there.

Mail.app: I can't send attachment with "space" in filename

Hi.
I've this kind of problem. I think it is Mail.app problem. The mail isn't sent if the attachment's filename contains "space" (eg: "file name.pdf").
The same email is sent finw if I use Thunderbird with the same SMTP server (Leopard Server) and from the same machine.
If the recipinets in local (not relayed over internet) it works well. Otherwise the SMTP server tell me it have lost connection whith relay server (ISP SMTP server).
I've used Lotus domino Server as SMTP server with the same result.
If I cut the "space" (' ') in the attachment's filename Mail.app works fine as well.

There is a bug which causes the filenames of attachments with a space or an accented character in the name to have characters appended to the filename extension; it may be that it also sometimes stops the attachment from sending. But other people have reported problems with mails with attachments not sending regardless of the filename, so I think the next software update will see some fixes.
Meanwhile, don't use spaces!
