Double Speed Audio on podcast and audiobook ios5

I'm getting double speed audio on podcast and audiobooks after upgrading to ios5. I restored my ipad but no luck! I have lectures and educational materials I listen to and it's driving me insane that I am unable to listen to it in a normal way. Any fix?

iPhone 3g you say? It might be having trouble playing an Audiobook at 2x. Mine seems to run at 2x.. How's your half speed? You should try give your phone a restart... it might free a bit of memory on the ram.

  • Can the new nano iPod run podcasts and audiobooks

I would like to buy the new iPod Nano if I can also listen to podcasts and audiobooks.  Can it do that?

Just a quick note in addition to toyo8696's--when I sync mine, there is a Books tab that has all of my audiobooks listed so I can pick what I'd like, just as with an iPod Touch or iPhone. So I think you should be able to listen to any audiobook you'd like.
It's a pretty neat little device!! You can also listen to the radio, which is awesome.

  • Flashplayer version 17.0.0.169 double speed audio

The current version of Flash-player (17.0.0.169) plays audio at double speed; has this been corrected in the beta version 17.0.0.171?

I made a couple recommendations for workarounds in other threads:
This is a known issue related to Nellymoser audio streams with encoding errors.  A recent security change made Flash Player less tolerant to incorrectly encoded audio streams, and an encoding error present in the content triggers the bad behavior.
We'll have a fix in the Flash Player 18 beta which will be available later this week (http://www.adobe.com/go/flashplayerbeta), and will be included in our next monthly update.
In the meantime, you may want to consider transcoding the audio to another format (AAC, Speex, etc) before streaming it to the client, or for live streams, using a current version of Adobe Flash Media Server, which does not appear to have this encoding problem.
Is the transcoding option viable from your perspective?  I know that there's a non-trivial CPU hit there, but it's possible to transcode just the audio stream in Adobe Flash Media Server, so you're not stuck transcoding the whole video stream.  I assume that competing products should also be able to do it as well.

  • Why do I need 45.6GB free on my iPod 160GB to be able to synch my podcasts and audiobooks?

Previously when synching my iPod 160 the capacity bar on would always show a large amount 'over' after clicking 'Apply' to apply changes made during podcast/audiobook selection. However, today it went over, but refused to synch stating that I had 23GB too much in my iTunes folder to allow for synching. After some mucking about I deleted about 30GB off my iPod and it will now synch. But I now have 45.6GB free and my regular updating of files is going to be much more annoying as I can't, as far as I know keep podcasts on different update/archiving settings. I.e. Some I only want new episodes for, others I want the entire archive.
An answer to either question would be appreciated. The synching issue with overflow prior to synch as been with me since iTunes 9 something or other, so it's not a version issue, but the overflow only became a problem today or yesterday, and it wasn't the iTunes update that did it (I only performed that today when I was struggling with this issue).

I am experiencing the exact same issue. It says my phone storage is full but its not. And all of my apps crash when I try to open them. I can't back up my phone via itunes or icloud.

  • Video Podcasts and Audiobooks will not sync

I have a fifth generation Ipod 80 gig and am noticing that video podcasts have not been syncing. They show up in my iTunes, but not on Ipod. Also audiobooks that I have in my iTunes were not syncing, even ones that were bought recently. It is quite frustrating so I would appreciate any advice.
    Thanks,
    Raoul

Two questions for video? Are they iPod compatible? iTunes should warn you if not. Where are you looking for the videos? Check under videos menu of iPod then video podcast menu.
With iPod plugged in, go to audiobooks tab. Is checkbox checked to include audiobooks?

  • Double Speed (2X) on Nano 6G Slow

I have noticed that the double speed mode for podcast playback is only about 10% faster than normal speed. My iphone plays back podcasts at much faster rate. Something is wrong with the Nano's double speed mode. I've read other's complain about this problem.

    Hi Jane,
Thanks for writing this as I have been encountering the same thing myself.
I wanted to make sure that I am understanding you properly. Isn’t 2x supposed to be 2:00 played for every 1:00 elapsed? I think I might be doing the math wrong.
Regardless, yes I have noticed that he 2x isn’t really 2 x however you define it. I have never really liked the iPod functionality and use a program that speeds up playpack permanently. I like transcribe, but I’m sure there are other programs.

  • Need help with 4-5 camera set up for audio/video podcast

Hey guys. I'm overseeing the podcast/audiobook studio construction for my company's new entertainment venture. It will ultimately be my job to produce the podcasts and audiobooks. The catch is that they also want to film the podcasts as well. I'm trying to find the most affordable set up that makes the editing/conversion process easiest for me on FCPX.
As you'll see I'm a bit all over the place. The essentials for what I'm looking for is
    1) The right Camcorder
    2) The most efficient way to record, edit and sync audio
What is the most affordable camcorder to use that works really well with FCPX? I've been hearing rumors that some aren't compatable and require a tedious conversion process. The Kodak Zi8 seems perfect because it shoots in 1080p and has a mic input, but I'm not sure if it works well with FCPX. Now, I don't know if the mic input is necessary. I was thinking the easiest way to automatically sync audio is by plugging the 4 mics into the camera's mic input and record that way. That should sync everything up automatically right? I also watched a tutorial on the multicam editing option in Final Cut and that seems perfect for this project. Do I need a mic input if I use this method? It seems like the syncing is super easy with the built in camera audio and the podcast audio files together.
I also would like to be able to record directly into the computer but don't know if that's possible. The process of taking 4-5 SD cards and uploading it after each shoot that way seems super tedious. I'm not sure if there is way to do that.
Another option would be for us to buy a video switcher but all the options seem so expensive. Anybody know of good hardware that'd work? That way I could edit on the go and if we want to make this a live ustream we can do so. I was also thinking about switcher software and using MIDI. Not sure if that is possible either.

Lets ignore whether you should be doing this, but, if they are requesting that you do it, have at it.
Although, the simplicity of this is mind boggling, for them not to do it...ah well, you're donating for a non profit, they are probably the cheapest game in town, and lost the sole employee who could scratch their backside...
Choice one, I dont recommend this one - File > Print booklet, 2 up saddle stitch. Flip back and forth using the Print Settings button at the bottom to orient the page layout and set paper size. Set the printer as Adobe PDF. Keep checking the Preview in the main Print Booklet dialog, I had to set a page range of 39 pages in a 40 page book for this to work last week.
Choice two - If you have set a 44 page document with bleeds, export to pdf, toggle "Use ducument bleeds", no crops. Place those reulting pdf's in a new 11 x 17, landscape doc, with appropriate bleeds. How you defined the bleeds in the 44 page document dictates how much fiddling you will have to do at the center (fold line) of the new 11 x 17 "imposed" document. (If your 44 page was not set as facing pages, you might have defind inside bleed to zero. If it was not set as a facing pages document, it references top, bottom, left and right bleeds) (The use of pdf for this is not necessary, you could just as easily place pages from the original InDesign file as pdf's) Setting a blue line/guide line at the center would help to crop in bleeding frames.
All above seems too simple, you are only needing to impose pages 22-23 for these steps btw.
@Scott Falkner - I knew I was being to wordy.

  • I have  a partitioned laptop. Itunes automatically consigns movies and audiobooks in the C drive which is close to full. How do I get itunes to work from the movies and audiobooks files in my D drive so that the C drive memory is not compromised?

I have a partitioned laptop. Itunes automatically consigns files from my D drive to the C drive when I import them. My C drive is running out of space! What commands do I use to ensure that Itunes draws directly from my D drive for high space usesr like movies, podcasts and audiobooks ?

    Quit iTunes.
Copy the iTunes Folder to the D drive, leave a copy on the C drive.
Then open the XML file in the C drive in the iTunes folder with a Text editor with "Find and Replace" ability.
Correct all the partial pathnames so it matches the new location where the iTunes Folder is now.
    Example:
    Find: C:\Windows\Users\Johnny\Music\iTunesFolder...   to
    Replace: D\\Music\iTunesFolder....
Quit iTunes and transfer all the folders out of the iTunes Folder on C except the two single files, including the XML you edited.
Start iTunes and click on one song you have but dislike, if it plays your fine. Leave the C/iTunes folders alone to make sure it works for all your content, then finally back it up or delete it to make room on C. Do a Windows defrag on C for increased performance.
If you get a Explanation Point in iTunes, it didn't find the file and you didn't correct the pathnames correctly..

  • Let me choose between Podcasts and Music!

I realize that there are a number of threads on this, but FFS! There is no reason to NOT allow users to listen to podcasts in the Music app! The functionality was already there, we are used to it (and even like it, as it allows for problem-free mixed playlist creation), the Podcasts app is sub-par, and I download and organize both music and podcasts (and audiobooks) using iTunes, so why separate them on the phone?!

(A repost of something I posted elsewhere - trying to help others)
If it helps you at least a little, in the Podcast App, playlists are now called "My Stations". You can add entire podcasts to Stations (and create new Stations), or you can add individual episodes to the "on-The-Go" station.
Not intuitive, and not as good as having the podcasts back with the music, but it gets the job done till Apple listens to the users again and changes this back.
    Cheers!

  • Easiest way to keep podcasts and music on separate drives?

I just got a new MacBook Air and I'm struggling with iTunes library management on a small hard drive.  I picked up a USB drive to store my large iTunes library (around 250gb).  For music and movies, this is fine.  However, I update podcasts far more often... at least twice a day.  Hooking up the USB drive is a cumbersome process, so I'd like to avoid the need for this.
Here's what I'd like to accomplish: I'd like my podcast and audiobook library to live on my MacBook Air internal hard drive so that I can sync my iPhone up multiple times per day with updated material.  And I'd like to keep my music and movies on the external drive because I only need to sync up my iPod classic once every week or two.
Right now everything is on the external drive.  I want to come up with a system that eliminates the chance of me messing up my very large iTunes library.  So far I've come across solutions like manually managing the library (which I'd like to avoid) and using software called TuneSpan which fools iTunes into thinking that everything is on a single drive.  I'm not sure which is the best path to take.  Anyone have any thoughts on this?  What is the easiest, lowest maintenance way to get the job done?
    Thanks in advance.

No fix: that's just how the Podcasts work. You can play around with the database to change dates, etc. but I don't recommend it (and it still plays newest to oldest). Go back to making Playlists if that's what you want to do.

How can I fix: iPad1 plays back audio podcasts (not music) at double speed?

    Hello @GiveHP2ndChance,
I understand that you are not able to get adequate sound from your notebook computer's BEATS Audio, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To correct the sound on your system, I recommend following this document on No Sound from Speakers (Windows 7) or for (Windows 8). This should help improve the quality of the audio on your notebook.
To assist you further, I will need to know:
The Product and Model Number of your notebook computer.
The version of Windows you have installed on your computer.
If your computer has completed all of its important Windows Updates.
If you have updated your HP drivers using the HP Support Assistant.
If this is an on-going, or recent issue.
If the same lack of quality is present when headphones are plugged in.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. I look forward to your reply!
    Cheers!

  • Why doesn't Quicktime play audio in double speed any longer?

Until recently, a person could click on the FF button to play a video/audio file in double speed and hear the audio. This was especially helpful when watching/listening to lectures. Now when you play in double speed there is no audio. What happened? Is there a glitch in the software? I hope the feature is returned to its former design.

Finally figured it out the solution! (This only applies to Mac users.)
Firefox 3.x ran in 32-bit mode and Quicktime 7.x runs in 32-bit mode, so the two programs worked just fine together. The new Firefox 4.x, however, runs in 64-bit mode, so the 32-bt Quicktime 7.x plug-in no longer works correctly.
Luckily the fix is simple: just switch Firefox 4.x from 64-bit mode down to 32-bit mode. Here's how:
    [] Close Firefox 4.0
[] Highlight the Firefox icon in the Applications folder
[] Click COMMAND-i to open the Get Info window
[] Click on the box marked: OPEN IN 32-BIT MODE and close the window
    [] Launch Firefox
You can now save Quicktime files as before, assuming you have Quicktime Pro.
[] After closing Firefox, you can un-check the OPEN IN 32-BIT MODE box so Firefox will once again run in 64-bit mode.

  • Java Audio Metronome | Timing and Speed Problems

    Hi all,
I’m starting to work on a music/metronome application in Java and I’m running into some problems with the timing and speed.
For testing purposes I’m trying to play two sine wave tones at the same time at regular intervals, but instead they play in sync for a few beats and then slightly out of sync for a few beats and then back in sync again for a few beats.
From researching good metronome programming, I found that Thread.sleep() is horrible for timing, so I completely avoided that and went with checking System.nanoTime() to determine when the sounds should play.
I’m using AudioSystem’s SourceDataLine for my audio player and I’m using a thread for each tone that constantly polls System.nanoTime() in order to determine when the sound should play. I create a new SourceDataLine and delete the previous one each time a sound plays, because the volume fluctuates if I leave the line open and keep playing sounds on the same line. I create the player before polling nanoTime() so that the player is already created and all it has to do is play the sound when it is time.
In theory this seemed like a good method for getting each sound to play on time, but it’s not working correctly.
At the moment this is just a simple test in Java, but my goal is to create my app on mobile devices (Android, iOS, Windows Phone, etc)...however my current method isn’t even keeping perfect time on a PC, so I’m worried that certain mobile devices with limited resources will have even more timing problems. I will also be adding more sounds to it to create more complex rhythms, so it needs to be able to handle multiple sounds going simultaneously without sounds lagging.
Another problem I’m having is that the max tempo is controlled by the length of the tone since the tones don’t overlap each other. I tried adding additional threads so that every tone that played would get its own thread...but that really screwed up the timing, so I took it out. I would like to have a way to overlap the previous sound to allow for much higher tempos.
I posted this question on StackOverflow where I got one reply and my response back explains why I went this direction instead of preloading a larger buffer (which is what they recommended). In short, I did try the buffer method first, but I want to also update a “beat counter” visual display and there was no way to know when the hardware was actually playing the sounds from the buffer. I mentioned that on StackOverflow and I also asked a couple more questions regarding the buffer method, but I haven’t received any more responses.

Any help getting these timing and speed issues straightened out would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
