Double Speed Import error Soundbooth CS5

My system operating system has not changed, but when I attempt to import an audio file into Soundbooth, it comes in double speed or highly distorted.  I have tried different valid file formats with similar results.
I have trashed the prefs, reloaded the software, same problem.
This problem literally started overnight.

iMovie 09 supports your camera. [See this article|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2726]
AVCHD Lite is not supported on iMovie 08. This is why you get the double speed.
While your camera will not work with iMovie 08 and AVCHD Lite, it might be worth trying in Motion JPEG as mentioned in the above article on iMovie 09. No guarantees, but worth a try. Motion JPEG produces extremely high quality but very large files.
Best bet is to get iMovie 09.

  • Generic import error - Lion - CS5.5 - Will not import

Hi. I just upgraded to cs5.5 with Lion and now a number of my previous cs4 projects will not load various flavors of video. One major problem I discovered was that after installing Lion, both of my Quicktime folders in the user and system library were missing (the system library is hidden in Lion by default, so I revealed it). These folders hold various quictime components, which I recreated from a backup. Now Quictime will play all of the video, but PPro responds with a generic import error. I have included a number of screen shots below showing the video file and library info. (I wish bridge would interogate the files and provide this information, but I use video spec). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have a number of clients waiting for resolution. Thank you. -Jeff

Well, I solved the problem but I had to de-install Lion to do it, so I will not close out the thread until I update the post after the next Lion attempt.
Here are the steps I took.
Clean Install of Snow Leopard from the DVD. This erased everything on the HD.
    Update all system software.
    Download and install Quicktime 7.6.6
Register Quicktime Pro (Fortunately I had the old receipt) This drops in the AppleMPEG2Codec.component
Copy over the AppleHDVCodec.component to the user library.
    Install CS5.5
    Big smile.
One important change is that I did NOT install Final Cut this time.
I just copied in the missing AppleHDVCodec.component to the library.
I had this file in the correct folder post install of Lion, but for some reason PPro would not recognize it.
My best guess is some other file (maybe a framework file) in the library was corrupted or altered during the Lion Installation.
I also have not copied over all of the other codec.compents yet. I plan to drop these in as needed if new import errors occur.
Below are the screen shots of the new librarys.

  • Error communicating with server when trying to download a score in soundbooth cs5

I recently am getting back to some projects of mine.  I went into Soundbooth CS5, and the Resource Central lists all of the scores and sound effects available to me.  It says that i'm online, but then when I try to preview or download anything it gives me the following error:
"We're sorry, but there was an error communicating with the server.  Please try again and if the problem persists, contact Adobe Technical Support (0) ioError: -1"
How do I get at the scores and sound effects?  Is there a way I can download them so that I don't have to consult with the server anymore?

Soundbooth is dead and those servers are offline most likely. I haven't seen any official note on this, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be the case...

  • Error when importing file into CS5

When I tried to import an Illustrator CS5 file into Flash CS5, I got an error from Windows saying that the program "stopped working" and it was searching for solutions to the problem. When it found no solutions, it said that it had to close the program. I've tried three times now and the same thing keeps happening. Has anyone else encountered this and, if so, do you know how to fix it? Please let me know. Thanks!
    *Pooja*

    Hi there,
I can reproduce the crash. It's seems to be related to Importing all layers to Stage, and selecting the "Place objects at original position" option. All other combinations seem to not crash, so at least it helps isolate what's happening and provides an option for you to import your artwork and continue with your site. I will file a bug and send this to the correct folks for evaluation - I'm not too sure what the conflict is between the AI file and Flash (it's not due to not having AI installed).
    Thanks for posting it!

  • Imported Clip is Double Speed

Normal clips are normal speed but clips I get from using this video game recorder: http://www.avermedia.com/avertv/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?Id=556 imported as double speed. It plays the clip twice so it goes for the usual length of time. I've tried simply halfing the speed but it doesn't look as smooth and it doesn't keep the nice 59.94 framerate I need. Any help on how to import it properly would be helpful, thanks.

Dave has a point - people here come from different time zones across the planet and expecting an answer within 15 minutes or even an hour is just not a realistic assumption. People do tend to have otehr things to do, including getting some sleep every now and then. Even more so on weekends. As for the matter at hand - are you even sure whatever game you recorded actually achieved the 60fps you claim you need? Yes, the tool may have recorded at 59.94, but if the game's effective framerate is just 30fps on your system, naturally you'll only have recorded the same frames twice and it will look stuttery when slowed down. Perfectly logical. So unless you can make sure your graphics card can actualyl deloiver these refresh rates, you whole workflow is pointless and wrong.

  • What is the speed/performance comparison between Soundbooth CS5 and Audition CS6?

Obviously, I don't need to be convinced about the difference. However, in demonstrating and working with Audition I didn't take a note of these speed differences. Does anyone have this information for business justification reasons?
I am looking for the speed of a sound file (*.wav, approximately 1-5minutes in length) rendering in Soundbooth CS5 and Audition CS6 as well as a comparison of doing 10 files (approximately 1-5 minutes in length each) in Soundbooth and in Audition CS6 (using batch processing) to *.mp3 with basic processes applied. Basic processes that I am checking are Noise Reduction, Trimming front and end silences, Normalization, and rendering to *.mp3 (from *.wav). If anyone can do this for me, that would be awesome!!

    travis_smith_ wrote:
Hello _durin_, yes all those are great arguments that I've already included; however, some people like to use accurate measures/times/processes...they want numbers.
So, do you (or anyone else) happen to know the render engine speed of 1 file in Soundbooth v. 1 file in Audition?
What Durin hasn't perhaps made quite clear is that you'd have to do this on just one machine to come up with any comparisons at all - and if that machine isn't identical to yours, then it's going to be meaningless anyway; some of the processes (like NR) will vary considerably between two different machines, even running the same software. There is no way on earth that this would be an accurate comparison, and I don't think it would convince anybody who actually understood what was at issue. This is the politest way of saying that it's not going to happen... and if Durin, as Audition's Product Owner, isn't prepared to commit himself, then nobody's going to.... BUT:
Now I am moving towards the argumentation that it should replace everyone's Soundbooth, which is why I need the justification. I would run the tests myself over the current set of files, but with the license gone, I cannot.
Your real justification isn't going to be based on anything like dodgy process measurements at all, but this: Soundbooth is discontinued - there's very little, if any, support for it now, and there will be no updates to cope with OS changes, etc. Audition, on the other hand, is a long-term, well-supported software product that's under active development, and this is clearly intended to continue. Also there are business package deals to be done (like active subscriptions, etc) that simply weren't available to Soundbooth users, which companies can use far more flexibly. I think you'll find that arguements like this will cut far more mustard than any odious comparisons of 'speed' will.

  • Davinci Resolve 8.1.1 to Premiere CS5.5.2  import error

Importing an XML from Resolve to Premiere gives me a "File import error"  "The importer reported a generic error."
The XML from Resolve opens correctly in FCP7, and exporting that Resolve XML from FCP as an XML version 5 from FCP7 is correctly opened in Premiere.  Can anyone else verify they are getting the same result?
    thanks,

When I removed the offline clips in Premiere and re exported the XML file to Resolve, the resulting XML file from Resolve imported directly into Premiere, No import error, which is why I think having no offline media it might be a work around.
Both the XML file from Resolve and FCP to Premiere has not caused any crashes on my end.
I'm using FCP XML-Round-Trip from Resolve when rendering and using "render clip with unique filename"  As long as I render, then export the XML the conform works in Premiere, however the clip names in resolve reflect the original edit of the XML file from Premiere, and only in the file path is the corresponding Resolve renders.  I can not find a way to auto reconnect the resolve renders to the exported XML if moved to another suite with out manually doing every shot. Any thoughts?
On a positive note, doing the above steps for removing offline media first in Premiere (I have not tested your suggestion yet of deleting offline files in Resolve) has solved my handle slip problems.
I'd suggest closing both Premiere and Resolve, reopen, and send a sequence from Premiere to Resolve with no offline clips when conformed in Resolve, render and export XML and open directly in Premiere.  It's working for me now as long as Resolve exports a XML file without any offline clips, no more import errors or crashes.

  • ITunes to Garageband import at double speed

When I click and drag a spoken word file (WAV) from iTunes to Garageband, it shows up in GB as double speed - Alvin and the Chipmunks-style. Tempo doesn't fix it. I've worked on Garageband before and this has not happened, so it may have to do with my recent upgrade of iTunes to 9.1. I'm on Garageband 3.0.4. Any ideas? • Soundbooth CS5 FLV Cue Point Woes

I have been attempting to use Soundbooth CS5 to insert cuepoints in .flv files (audio track only) to cue up some audio stuff in Flash using the FLVPlayback Class. It seems the implementation of cuepoints/markers in Soundbooth is really buggy and prone to either not working at all or producing unexpected results. Here are some problems I have encountered:
    1. Soundbooth regularly does not save the cuepoints (markers) in a way that the Flash Player can detect.
This is easily verifiable - no MetaDataEvents are dispatched on playback (to indicate a cuepoint has been reached) and the 'findNearestCuePoint' method of FLVPlayback returns an Object with a null 'array' property - I have to use this to access the cuepoints when the flv is loaded (for some pre-processing) because, weirdly, Adobe engineers did not think that making the cuepoints accessible for a (fully loaded) .flv was useful - there is a cuepoints property but it is write-only. Yet, I can get an array of them via this method! Bizarre.
Both of these things (MetaDataEvent dispatch & the cuepoints array 'hack') occasionally work so I'm confident it's not my code. In fact, I have some .flv files that work perfectly and some that don't - these have all been created by me in Soundbooth.
At first, saving cue points did not work at all for any file! I struggled with this for two days before resorting to re-installing SB and it magically started (almost) working.
    2. Soundbooth sometimes doesn't save changes to the markers.
When SB does feel like saving the cue points (and they are picked up in Flash), subsequent edits appear in the SB interface (eg. deleting a marker) but not in Flash. I have .flvs that I've edited which will report x number of markers but the 'findNearestCuePoint' objects 'array' property returns an array of the length before I made the changes/re-saved the file.
    3. Soundbooth sometimes doesn't like re-saving files created in Soundbooth.
I open up the .flv created in Soundbooth itself, edit it and then hit 'Save', this appears:
"The file was saved with unknown compression or with an unsupported destination rate, please choose your destination format and language".
Great. It takes me to 'Save As' so I can select a new name/file-format and I just select the same one it was saved under before (.flv). I have to change the filename too, because SB doesn't like saving over a file that's open in SB, either.
    4. Sometimes it all works!
And I have no idea why. I just keep opening the file I need to use re-save it under a different file name, select different export options, re-compile my app and sometimes it works fine - my app doesn't throw any errors (the ones it throws when there are no cuepoints, or the number of cuepoints is not the number it expects).
At first I thought it was the export settings but it isn't - I can select the same ones each time and get different results. Saving the export settings makes no difference, it NEVER works the second time round.
I can provide code/files if needed.

I have a solution.  Bring the mp3 file that you edited into Premiere.  From Premiere, export
media to an flv.  From within the export media dialog, import your cue points xml file.  It worked on my first try.
The problem is: why does it work from Premiere, but not Media Encoder or Soundbooth?
Adobe, please fix this, it's a very bad bug!

  • How do I convert an excel (2008) document to Numbers?  When I drag the Excel document onto the Numbers icon I get, "Import error.  The file format is invalid"

How can I convert an Excel (2008) document to Numbers.  When I drag the Excel document onto the Numbers icon I get, "Import error.  The file format is invalid.

That extension identifies the most current Excel file format, a format that can be opened by Numbers '09 (and by Numbers '08).
A check with Numbers '09 shows it capable of opening .xlsx files when right-clicked (and Numbers chose as the application to open, when double-clicked (if Numbers has been set as the default application to open this type of file, or when dragged to the Numbers icon in the dock.
I see two possibilities for Numbers inability to open it and the message you receive:
    1. The file is not actually an Excel file, and the sender has added the .xlsx extension to the filename manually.
    2. The file is an Excel file, but has somehow been corrupted.
Have you tried opening the file with a different application? The open source Office suites, OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice and NeoOffice can also open .xlsx files. If they're unable to open this one, that would point toward the file itself being faulty. You can download these applications from their rspective websites, linked in the names above. All request a donation to support future development, but only Neo requires one to have been made recently, and that only for the current release (which won't be necessary to open .xlsx files).

  • File Import Error - Adobe Media Encoder, help!

I'm at a complete loss. AME worked very well for me for a long time and booting it up yesterday gave me a paralyzing error.
Upon trying to import an MOV, MP4, and later a WMV, I received the following error:
    File Import Error
The file C:\Users\tj\Desktop\New folder\SH_GS_PeekPlay_DEMO_720.mp4 could not be imported. Could not open source file. Please check that file exists with correct permissions.
I've tried everything I can think of:
    1. Moved the file off the server and onto my desktop.
    2. Double checked file permissions (all of which I have)
    3. Uninstalled AE and Premiere to try to get rid of Media Encoder.
    4. Searched for a way to uninstall AME so I could put a fresh install (can't find how to do this)
    5. Manually updated AME
    6. Reboot (multiple times between these steps)
    7. Contact customer support - no help thus far.
I'm running Windows 7 64bit with Adobe CC and AME 7.0.1.58

    Tried that as well.
To rule everything out, I had the files placed:
    1. On company internal server
    2. External Harddrive connected through Firewire
    3. Internal Hard Drive (with OS)
    4. Internal secondary Hard Drive (data only)
    5. On Desktop (technically 1st internal drive)
I have since fixed this by uninstalling every single Adobe application (including Flash and Air) and redownloading and installing each.

  • Import Error with Pages

I have been working on my college application essay for a while now, and I've had it saved as a Word Document on my flash drive. Today, I tried to open the file and it said: Import Error: file format invalid. My flash drive and computer both work completely fine; I have other word files on my flash drive that I can open and use as normal. I've tried opening the file on both my brother and mom's MacBook Pros and I'm receiving the same message. I tried it on our HP computer as well, and when I open the file I'm getting this weird encoding message. (Sorry, I'm not much of a tech guru and can't use any fancy terms). I think the file might be damaged, but I don't know how that would've happened. I'm sorry if this isn't enough information, but this is everything I know and have tried. If anybody knows what's wrong and has any solutions (laymen's terms are preferred, please), I would be very grateful! (Ironically enough, I was about to back up the file from when I last saved it...)

After having the same issue, I found your post and thought I'd share my solution for your future reference and others.  This little tid bit helps when the pages document corrupts and we receive that friendly "Import Error The file format is invalid." message.
Rename the file from "My important assignment.pages" to "My important assignment.zip" and tell the message you really do want to use .zip.
    -- Double-click the file.
-- Open the "My important assignment" folder, and open "QuickLook" folder.
    -- Double-click the "Preview.pdf"
-- Copy the text and paste into a new Pages document.
These steps help you to recover your page file info.

  • FLV File Import Error - Unrecognised Compression !

    Hi,
I am getting an error message "Unrecognised Compression" when trying to import an FLV file into Premiere Pro CS5.5.
Should I just download a free convertor and convert to mp4 or wmv or are there any other options to import it into CS5.5? If anyone can recommend a free convertor I would be grateful.
    Thx

Please find pasted below the text output from the MediaInfo analysis of the flv file. It does have audio but I was going to remove that anyway so its not an issue if it is lost.

  • Unable to download/preview sounds or scores from Resource Central in Soundbooth CS5

I'm trying to download sounds and scores from Resource Central in Soundbooth CS5, but I get the following errors numbers:
    (404) Error:0 when trying to download
    (0) ioError:-1 when trying to preview
However, the online indicator is green and I am still able to view and search through the list of sounds/scores, so I am not sure what is causing the errors to occur. This didn't happen to me until after the start of May 2013.
I've tried restarting Soundbooth, but the problem still persists.
    I'm running Soundbooth CS5 on 64-bit Windows 7.

It is probably simply gone. SB has long been deprecated and "start of May" sounds exactly like the files simply went offline. Haven't seen any announcements on that, but I'm sure they exist somewhere...

  • Where's dynamic link option in Soundbooth CS5

Just at the titles states, I'm trying to figure out how to import an After Effects sequence to Soundbooth CS5 to add soundeffects for post production.  However I don't see that option in Soundbooth CS5.  I saw the option back in CS4.  Did they get rid of this option?

Ok, I'm coming back here to see if anyone has said anything about this since my last reply to this post. Apparently no one has which sucks of course. Someone, please offer a workflow suggestion that replaces the adobe dynamic link for scoring audio to a PPRO project!!!! Are we now having to render out the project first before bringing it into soundbooth???????? Geeze, when will Adobe finally get their act straight and make these programs all work together right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
