Doubled-up sent folders on iPhone. Cannot send mai...

Have begun to migrate from Yahoo to Bt; works fine on laptop. Have checked and I am still 'with Yahoo'.
On iPhone, result is I have one Inbox, and two 'Drafts' and 'Sent' Mailboxes - depending on which device I wrote the mail.
Second hassle is that I can't send at all from iPhone, only since yesterday. Repeatedly asked to correct password - it's correct. have checked setup is correct according to the outgoing server SMTP guidance on this BT site. Is this second hassle related...? Thanks!

Further to my last message I thought, "as I have nothing better to do for the moment" I will just try deleting the account yet again and setting it up again.
This time I just entered the basic data and did nothing to put any detail into the outgoing mail server boxes - as it did not ask for any - and hit "Done"
Account was instantly set up, all my old mails and folders retrieved and I can now send from my iPhone.
This is very weird, I did absolutley nothing different except leaving the outgoing mail server well alone, just let the iPhone settings take care of it.
The settings for the outgoing server look exactly as they did before when it did not work. All very frustrating, but at least now it seems to work.

  • TS4268 Iphone cannot send messages after OS7 upgrade

I upgraded to OS7 on my iphone5.  I get imessages but cannot send imessages unless I double tap the message and select "Send As Text Message".   I didn't have to do this before the upgrade.  My other devices don't seem to have the problem.  I went to the Apple Store and the representative said it was a "glitch" and that I have to wait for an update.  Could someone explain what is going on?

  • IPhone cannot send email using Yahoo account. iPhone no envia correo Yahoo.

    Hi Everyone,
I just got my iPhone from Movistar Venezuela and I've found I'm unable to send email using my Yahoo account. However, I can receive Yahoo email just fine (paid $20 for Mail Plus subscription), my GMail account can send and receive perfectly, and I can go surfin' Safari with no problems too.
The error message I get is "Cannot send mail: an error occurred while delivering this message". I called Movistar Customer Support and they said everything was fine on their end...
In typical Apple fashion, the error message is so simple I have no idea where the problem is. Does anyone know how can I get more information and how to solve this annoying problem? My Yahoo account is actually my primary account...
    Thanks in advance!

  • IPhone - cannot send mail

    Getting this message:
Cannot Send Mail - The connection to the outgoing server "mail.bellsouth.net" failed. I have spent hours reading various posts on this and still haven't found a solution that will make my phone work. I am so frustrated and have just been putting up with it. Not worth it at this point!
    Anyone have any advice?
The e-mails just sit in my outbox and it shows a bar that says "sending" but it never goes through.
    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
Host Name: mail.bellsouth.net:465 (was 25 and didn't work)
User Name: - my user name
    Password: - my password
I would really appreciate any advice anyone has. Thank you.

I am a bellsouth.net customer also. I had the same problems. The outgoing mail server is mail.bellsouth.net
I could not get this to work on Edge. It would work if I was on wifi on my isp at home.
I found these setting and they work but you have to turn wifi off to send mail. Does anyone know of a way to send and recieve mail with a bellsouth.net account using both wifi and edge?
    iPhone - bellsouth.net
Choose Settings in the main window.
    Choose Mail.
    Choose Accounts > Add Account.
    Choose Other.
Choose POP and enter the following:
Name: Enter what you want to appear in the From field in messages you send.
    Address: [email protected]
Description: This will default to what you entered in the previous step. You can change this if desired.
    Incoming Mail Server (POP3):
    Host Name: mail.bellsouth.net
    User Name: your_username
    Password: Enter your e-mail password.
    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
    Host Name: cwmx.com
User Name: Optional (You do not need to enter anything)
Password: Optional (You do not need to enter anything)
Choose Save. The device will check the settings.
Choose Advanced. Check to make sure the following settings are correct:
Deleted Messages: Choose the option best suited to your needs.
    Settings:
Incoming Uses SSL: Set this to off.
Outgoing Uses SSL: Set this to off.
    Authentication: Choose Password.
Delete from Server: Choose the option best suited to your needs.
Go back to the previous page.
Turn account on at the top of the page.
Choose the Mail button at the top of the page.
Choose the Settings button at the top of the page.
Choose the main page button at the bottom of the device.
Choose the bellsouth.net mail account or Inbox if you only have one account set up.
The device will now automatically login and retrieve your e-mail.

  • Replying to an email from iPhone - "cannot send as address is invalid"

This seems to have started happening only recently. When an email comes in on my iPhone and I need to respond, I hit reply, type my text and when I hit send, the warning comes up "Cannot send because email address is invalid." Has anyone else had this problem or has a solution? Really thwarts the email aspect of the iPhone.
Much thanks in advance for anyone's help.

    +1
this is happening only with my gmail account...i hope it's a gmail problem.still waiting for the fix.
    cheers

  • Out of nowhere I can only receive gmail on iPhone, cannot send?!?

Out of nowhere my iPhone stopped sending email from my work gmail account. My personal account works fine. The error message I get says the password is wrong - but I know it's not because I can log on via the web and send email from there.
I have tried deleting the account and reconfiguring with no success. It's just odd that it stopped working randomly one day. My coworkers who have the exact same email setup are not having any problems.
    Please help!!!

Try this with the account involved:

  • Sprint iphone cannot send SMS

this is big problem. i have a sim card with Operator 3 in Hong kong but cannot send SMS. Friend of mine using Smart vodafone sim card and he can send SMS.... How come this will happen ?????

    Hi everyone.
I had the same issue. I am using a international unlocked Sprint phone on Etisalat in Dubai. I saw this post https://discussions.apple.com/message/20602020#20602020  from FernandezJay and tried it. He fixed my sms in the time it took to restore and restart the phone. Also now my FaceTime and Imessage both work through my Apple ID and my Dubai Phone Number.
    Seriously guys. IT WORKS!

  • Another iPhone cannot send email or sms to me

    Hi there.
My wife now has an iPhone 4 (I'm waiting for mine) and any emails or SMS messages aren't getting to me. The SMS window has a small red exclamation mark, asking me if I'd like to try again. But when I do the progress bar almost goes to the end, then fails. She has no problem having SMS conversations with other users.
Update. Just tested emails again. We share a POP 3 account, sending to my email address on the same account aren't received by me. When she sends a message using that account but to my gmail account it gets through. I will probably contact my ISP about this, but happy to have an answer from anyone here.
    Any thoughts?
    thanks.

    Hi
My husband is also having issues with his iphone 4--we both have the iphone 4. He can't send nor receive picture texts. Apple sent him a new iphone 4, but he still can't receive pic text--At&t changed his sim card, but still no pic text. So, we have been on the phone with at&t for 4 days trying to get this FIXED!!! They said his phone id number is not matching up with his phone??? So, we wait, and wait for a fix!! I can send and receive pic text with my phone, so we're not sure what the outcome will be.

  • HT4528 Cannot send E-Mails from my iphone 5.  I have my own web site

I have a web site through Alamode.  For some reason my iphone cannot send out e-mails.  I have no problem receiving them.  Anybody have any suggestions.

    Hi there Fredbeles,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

  • HT4528 Cannot Send Mail

I receive mail no problem but can't send mail on my new iphone 4S. I've gone into the Outgoing Mail Server tab / Primary Server. I entered the host name, user name, password, use SSL "on", authentication set to password, server port 26 as it is set in my outlook in my PC. . . . . . .press done and a few seconds later I get a check mark on all categories and it says "account verified". . . . . . . .but always get the text below when I try to send mail.
Cannot Send Mail: A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The recipient "______________.com" was rejected by the server.
I've tried different ports, turning off the SSL, a colon and port number after the host name, turning off primary server and used the same settings in "other SMTP servers", updated phone to 5.1.1, and many other things. . . .still no outgoing mail. Verizon is my ISP and I use Surpass Hosting as an email hosting service.

If anyone cares, after no help here, a very dissapointing call to Apple tech support which left me with far less hope, and no clues from my email host, I figured I was on my own. I deleted my email account and re-entered it as an IMAP instead of POP3 and everything is working now. Just took a shot in the dark and got lucky.
With so many clients having the same "no outgoing mail" issue, I would think Apple would have be better prepared with support for this problem. This "support" community is literally filled with iphone "cannot send mail" posts.

  • TS3276 Cannot send mail from my iPad...."user name and or password is incorrect"......mail can be sent from my iPhone

Why do I get the message   "Cannot send mail, the user name and or password for my email outgoing server is incorrect"?  I use the same account, etc. on my iPhone and haven't any trouble sending mail.

If your email requires a password for the SMTP server you can set it up in the settings in the General mail setup. Some i.e Gmail require a password for SMTP.
Otherwise you will probably get better answers in the iPad forum.

You can try deleting the account on your iphone and setting it up again.

  • Cannot send email from my iphone

Cannot send email from my iphone 4s with the bell mobility network.

Hi. You need to double check the outoing server used here. You can verify that with Bell and good luck.

  • I cannot send email from iPhone -- my account is with aol

I tried to send an email to myself and I got a message that said "Cannot Send Mail the sender address (my address) was rejected by the server". It says that no matter who I send mail to.
I am not very technically oriented -- so if someone answers me I hope they will give it to me in simple terms
I am receiving email -- although some of it says "not downloaded from server" and some of it says "no message content". Most of the email I receive comes through ok
I have not yet figured how to make the Wi-fy come on so have just been using Edge. I have had the phone for 5 days.
I can live without wi-fy -- but I really would like to be able to send an email. I have a new Mac (my 5th) Hope someone can help.

After I posted my message I found a discussion that said to get my wi-fy to work all I had to do was to:
    go to settings
    go to general
    go to reset
    reset network settings
    and
    for good measure I also
    reset all settings
I did this and now my wi-fy works like a charm -- and the emails that I sent went through, even though it said they didn't -- but now I am not receiving any emails -- the little thing just goes around and around like it is searching for emails -- it has been doing that now for a while. I turned off the wi-fy and let it go to edge and itstill can't pick up any emails -- It has transferred no email to my iphone since I reset! I love my iPhone -- but I would sure like to get everything to work at once.
Thank you for your post and help.
