Doubt about home button in iphone 4S

I have an iphone 4s one month ago. Sometimes when I press the home button when the phone is locked, the screen lights on for a second and after that, the screen gets off again and the phone continues locked. I have to press again the home button, so the phone show me the control to unlock it. Is this normal or this is the sign that my phone should be repaired before it gets in a worse state? Have other user observed this behavior in the 4s iphone?

Not normal.

By the way, alcohol based hand sanitisers work too.
Don't overapply it in one go though. You'll have to allow the alcohol to evaporate.
One final tip, after its dried, I'd recommend you to leave your iPhone's home button facing a laptop's vent just to bake it a little drier.

how do i remove floating home button from iphone 5 please

On some iPhones, the Home button itself stopped working. Mostly on the 3GS and prior. This was due to the fact some customers "man handled" the button all too much.
The newer iPhones has some reinforcements for the button.

  • My home button on iphone 5c not working correctly

    Hi,
Any ideas please - I have an iphone 5c that is about 17 mths old and has been working fine until yesterday when the home button became unresponsive - not all the time but intermittently.
I have turned the phone off for a while and then turned it back on but it made no difference.
This is the first problem I have had with this phone - it's been amazing til yesterday!
    Thanks in advance.

First, reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
If this does not work, and to make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test Home Button.
If the phone works as before the update, restore from the latest backup. If the problem comes back, the backup data contained corrupt data, causing your issues.
If it still does not work, this is a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:

  • IPhone 3GS Home Button Issue - iPhone Thinks Home Button Is Always Pushed

Alright, this isn't the normal(home button doesn't work) question. Listen...
Customer brought this iPhone 3GS in to replace the non-working home button. Before I did I tested it with a working screen assembly(obviously including a new home button) and it DIDN'T work. So I replaced the dock connector and speaker/mic assembly(where the home button makes it's connection. And that still doesn't work.
I have figured out now that the problem is NOT that the iPhone doesn't recognize the push of the home button but instead it thinks that the home button is always being pushed. When hold the power button(only) the iPhone will restart(which requires home+power).
Since I've tried replacing the home button and the dock connector is this problem with the logic board?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    HI iFixItMan,
I have the same problem andmine was stuck in a recovery loop and it took me about 7 hours to get workingsoftware, now I have the phone fully working the home button has no functionwhen in phone mode, I have soft reset when in phone mode and the home buttonworks (resets phone) - Power + Home button pressed together)).
The home button also works whenthe screen is lifted from the connector for DFU mode and soft reset; I’mthinking there are two connections made to the logic board one for system(software reset and DFU) and one for phone connection.
Not changed the dock or thescreen assembly due to thinking which part I need to buy :/, don't want to keep buying parts then having to keep them if they don't work
    Thanks again

  • Does the home button of iPhone 5 stop working over a period of time?

I'd purchased an iPhone 4 when it was released. After using it for 8 months the home button had stopped working. Then i found out that its a common problem in the iPhone 4. Is it the same with Iphone 5?

I've never had a problem with any iPhone I've had, nor has anyone I know.  But being a mechanical device, parts are going to break.  That's why there's a warranty.

  • Official replacement home button for iPhone 5?

I live in UK  and I have had my iPhone 5 for just over a week and the home button is scratched and loose, I was wondering If I can purchase and official replacement or send it to an approved repairer?

If its bought in the UK its warranted either via Network supplier or via Apple Retail if bought directly.
If its a grey import you therefore have few more and pressing problems in that the Warranty is in the Country of Origin and you may have to risk someone like
    http://www.iphonerepairs.org.uk
Just I point of order anodizing scratches VERY easily. Its actually a process using dyes and an electrode to set the colour within the few micros of the top surface of the metal.
Don't place your iPhone5 anywhere near your keys or loose coins if you value the looks.
The home button must never be pressed with any force its just a contact pad underneath and that WILL flatten out the tiny spring contacts permanently rendering it faulty and leaving your button loose exactly as you describe.

    Hi Firoz,
If you are loading your form and not SAP B1 default forms, then I can suggest a work around for you.  On the click of the link button, you can the LoadForm function for that particular form .SRF or .XML w.r.t the corresponding doc number of that UDF.
    Hope this helps.

  • My home button is not working properly on my iPhone 4s??? Any suggestions

Home button on iPhone 4s isn't working properly?  Any suggestions

You're still under warranty, make an appointment at an Apple store. Backup your phone before you go.

  • I pressed and held the sleep/wake switch and home buttons for about 15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen but it is stuck and wont go any further

    please help

Try to force your phone into recovery mode. Disconnect it from the computer's USB cord. Turn it off if you can by holding the sleep/wake switch until you see the red slide to off. If you can't turn it off, please continue. Press and hold the home button while plugging it into the computer's USB cord. Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo. When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • Hom restar mi iphone

    jjjokok

Look KTNdude, I try connecting my iPhone to my MacBook Pro and iTunes tells me that First I need to input my code from my iPhone, but for some reason I can't. What do I do? I searched all over the internet about 2 hours and found two ways.
The first one that didn't work for me but might work for you:
    1. Plug your iPhone into your PC or Mac with the USB cable.
    2. Press and hold the power button and then slide to power off the iPhone.
    3. Press the power button to turn on the iPhone on and keep it held while simultaneously pressing the home button. After a few seconds a yellow alert triangle will appear and the iPhone will say it is iPhone Restore Mode.
    4. Open up iTunes and click on the Summary tab.
    5. Click on Restore to restore your iPhone.
This will reset all your iPhone's setting to the factory defaults, including the Passcode.
Or the othe method, which worked for me:
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone or iPod touch.
    2. Power off the device (Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider.) Wait for the the iPhone or iPod touch to turn off.
    3. Press and hold the Home button while reconnecting USB cable. When you reconnect USB, the device should then power on.
Note: If you see the message "Charging... Please Wait" let the device charge for at least 10 minutes to ensure the battery has some charge and then start with step 2 again.
3.Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo.
When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message:
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, then disconnect the USB cable from iPhone and repeat steps 3-6.
    I HOPE this helps

  • Ipod wont turn off using home button only.

I got my ipod touch yesterday at the apple store, and today, it wont turn off if you hold down the home button. It shuts down if you use the power button on the top left corner, but not with the home button. Th home button works fine for everything else. Can anyone guess what the problem is?
    thanks

    Hello Kate,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
The only way to power off the iPod is using the Sleep/Wake button at the top of the iPod as you described. There is no way to turn off the iPod using the Home button.
