Doubt About Report Software Metering

Hello Guys,
I create my rule about metering for SoftwareX and is OK, run with success.
I have 2 computers(PC01,PC02) where I uninstall SoftwareX but when I run after 72hours Report: Computers that have run a specific metered software program ....still display PC01 and PC02 has SoftwareX metered.
My doubt is I set Software Metering Properties for 45 days, follow:
Will it take 45 days for PC1 and PC2 doesn't display more in my Report? Is this right?
If isn't right, how I can fix this for doesn't display SoftwareX if was uninstall in PC1 and PC2? My hardware inventory run ever 24hs and 24hs.
Thanks a lot.

Correct it will take ~45 days for the data to be removed from CM12.

  • Doubt about Report Suite Office in SCCM 2012

    Hi all,
I have a question about Suite Office in SCCM 2012.
Why in my report 07B - Computers that recently used a specified executable program
when I specific Office 2010 don't display nothing about Outlook?
Just display follows softwares: Word,Excel,PowerPoint,Visio and Project. Someone have idea?
    Thanks.

Do you have Software Metering enabled for that executable?
    Mike Leach | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/mleach/default.aspx
    Mike Thank's your opinion...my answer....Yes, I do.My software metering is OK.
My doubt is why Microsoft Outlook don't display as being part suite Office?
Is necessary I select Microsoft Outlook (separately) for do my software metering but I think this is not correct, because the correct is suite Office contains: Word,Excel,Visio,Project,Powerpoint
    and Outlook...
So when I selected Microsoft Office 2010 display all softwares as I saw in my first post and any about Outlook.
    Thanks any suggestions.

  • Doubt about Report - Task Sequence - Deployments

    Hello,
I have a doubt about this report Summary report for a task sequence deployment in Task Sequence - Deployments.
Last Friday I did deployed in 6 desktop ran this report and display my 6 desktop's all right.
Today a run this report and display no data.
Why occurred this? Anyone have idea?
I think this report have display me all data about my task sequence specific.
    Thanks.

Are you sure the deployment wasn't deleted or recreated?
Query your DB and see what the NumberInstalled says.  That should show you 6 were installed.  You just need the Deployment ID added to this query below.
    select *
    from dbo.DeploymentSummary
    where
OfferID = 'YOUR DEPLOYMENT ID HERE'
    Best, Jacob I'm a PC.
My TS wasn't modified or recreated, but in DB display NumberInstalled = 0.
Anyone have modify this TS since last friday, I don't know the reason this happened.
I will do news deploys and see this report after if still have same issue.
    Thanks your opinion.

  • Doubt about report FBL5N of screen field:Open items and Cleared items

    hi
i know the report FBL5N is use DDF LDB and the report work flow is BSID->BKFP->BSEG
but i don't know to differentiate Open Items and Cleared items in this report.
Open items and Cleared items stand for a field flag in these table (BSID,BKFP,BSEG )? if true the field is?
or they must be calc in program ? if true what about calc rules?
    waiting for help! thank you!

    Hi,
Here is the difference in Open Items and Cleared Items.
In FI first the document is Open (when it is posted) so the entry is made in table BSID. Once the document is cleared, it will move from BSID to BSAD. And for Cleared item you will see Clearing Document no and Clearing date values updated (these are blank when the item is open).
The only difference in Open and Cleared is via Clearing Document and Clearing Date. If the values are present, it means document is cleared.
    Hope this helps.

  • Doubt about Report:: Count users by domain

    Guys,
when I run report: Count users by domain, display my domain XXX and some hostnames users logged in my domain and 15 users logged locally.
Well, some users after 2 weeks already logged in domain but in my report still display info user logged locally.
    Why this?
Is there someone I do run manually for not display more this users now log on in domain but display logged locally? I think this only cache, but I don't want my report contains data wrong.
    Any idea?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
If you are talking about the information in report "Users in a specific domain", the information are collected by hardware inventory. SCCM collects inventories on a periodic basis, not real-time. You could initiate Hardware Inventory Cycle from client to
accelerate the speed for updating data.

  • SCCM 2012 Reporting Capabilities for Software Metering

    Hi,
I've been requested by my supervisors to get some information on metered software and computer usage in a specific lab, but I am unsure if I can obtain all the information they requested with just using SCCM.
I've already set up metering rules for the programs they want information on, software metering is enabled on the clients, and all of the lab computers are in in Configmgr and have good clients on them.  Here's the list of the requests:
Total number of lab users by day
Total hours logged into lab computers by day
Total hours logged into a specific metered program by day
Total hours running different internet browsers
Total unique users over the course of a certain period of time
I am a novice when it comes to reports in SCCM.  Are there built in reports that can give this information or would I have to write my own custom reports, or is this level of detail not possible for SCCM to give?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

The most requested information can be found in the obvious reports about
    Software Metering (\Monitoring\Overview\Reporting\Reports\Software Metering).

  • Custom Software Metering Report

So I'm creating some custom software metering reports and could use some pointers and before you suggest simply using the canned reports know that they simply don't provide all the information we are looking for in a format that works for us so what I have
    so far is this...
    SELECT DISTINCT
    TOP (100) PERCENT dbo.v_MeteredFiles.ProductName, COUNT(DISTINCT dbo.v_R_System.Name0) AS [Total Installations],
SUM(dbo.v_MonthlyUsageSummary.UsageCount) AS [Total Uses], SUM(dbo.v_MonthlyUsageSummary.UsageTime) AS [Total Usage Time]
    FROM dbo.v_R_System INNER JOIN
    dbo.v_MonthlyUsageSummary ON dbo.v_R_System.ResourceID = dbo.v_MonthlyUsageSummary.ResourceID INNER JOIN
    dbo.v_MeteredFiles ON dbo.v_MonthlyUsageSummary.FileID = dbo.v_MeteredFiles.MeteredFileID
    WHERE (dbo.v_MeteredFiles.Enabled = 1)
    GROUP BY dbo.v_MeteredFiles.ProductName
And the information gathered so far is quite helpful but I'm curious about a few things:
    1. Is UsageTime units in Days, Hours, minutes?
    2. how can I narrow the results of to the last month or two months or three or to a specific month?
Any help would be really appreciated.

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure how to do that...
This is where I'm at so far.
    SELECT DISTINCT
    TOP (100) PERCENT dbo.v_MeteredFiles.ProductName, COUNT(DISTINCT dbo.v_R_System.Name0) AS [Total Installations],
SUM(dbo.v_MonthlyUsageSummary.UsageCount) AS [Total Uses], SUM(dbo.v_MonthlyUsageSummary.UsageTime) AS [Total Usage Time],
    dbo.v_MonthlyUsageSummary.TimeKey
    FROM dbo.v_R_System INNER JOIN
    dbo.v_MonthlyUsageSummary ON dbo.v_R_System.ResourceID = dbo.v_MonthlyUsageSummary.ResourceID INNER JOIN
    dbo.v_MeteredFiles ON dbo.v_MonthlyUsageSummary.FileID = dbo.v_MeteredFiles.MeteredFileID
    WHERE (dbo.v_MeteredFiles.Enabled = 1)
    GROUP BY dbo.v_MeteredFiles.ProductName, dbo.v_MonthlyUsageSummary.TimeKey
    ORDER BY dbo.v_MonthlyUsageSummary.TimeKey, dbo.v_MeteredFiles.ProductName

  • SCCM 2012 report/data for importing software metering rules..

    Hi,
I have a customer who would like to start using software metering. The plan is to create the rules manually, since I guess it would be overkill and/or have an huge performance impact to enable it for all...? We might be talking about 100-300 applications.
To do it manually, a powershell script can be used for creating these based on a txt file containing the following information.
    Productname,  FileName,  OrginalFileName,  FileVersion
The customer has then asked for a report/csv file showing these information for all .exe files, so they can pick what they want to have metered. The data amount will for sure be huge and unmanageable.
Anyone has a good approach for this challenge? :-)
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards
    Thomas

The approach is to say NO, what they are asking for is huge in the range of 100,000 different exes, there is no way anyone will go the list. Instead, look at the build in report for count of installed software products and sort from largest count
to smallest. Then create SWM rules for those applications that have a cost and not everyone has. Aka why would you crate a SWM rule for WORD or EXCEL? But it does make sense to create a rule for Visio or AutoCAD.
Also why create a rule for two different version of Visio? Do you need it, why? Are you sure?

  • Difference between Asset Intelligence 09A report and reports in the Software Metering folder

    Dear all,
I can not seem to grasp the difference between Asset Intelligence 09x reports and reports in the Software Metering folder. Do they extract conclusions based on the same data and which data are those? I also have come to notice that there are occasional dicrepancies
between them. Why would this be?

    Hi,
    1. Software metering allows you to create a rule and meter application usage very granular, when it is started, how many times , how long it has been used e.t.c, Asset intellegence doesn't require you to create any rules it will only inventory start/stop
so you can get reports like "all computers that hasn't started a application in x days".
2.It depends on the license agreement for that application, but yes you can get how many has started a specific application within a timeframe.
    3.No

  • Software Metering Report - Install base for all metered software programs - Returns 0

    Hi All
I have an issue with one of the software metering reports, Install base for all metered software programs. when run it returns that the metered software is installed on 0 computers.
All usage reports seem to work correctly and I can see usage data for the monitored applications. But anything related to install base such as the one listed above and "Computers that have a metered program installed but have not run the program since
a specific date" either return 0 or are blank.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

    Hi All
finally found a fix to the problem. It was very closely related to what Gareth  had mentioned regarding Asset Intelligence. The actual method of detecting if a program is installed is done through Software Inventory
Under Custom Client Settings i had enabled Software Inventory on client but never setup any rules to gather data. So i created a new rule for all *.exe files and around an hour later the report started to show up clients.
This blog post also describes the method of setting up software inventory correctly
Thanks to all the help and hopefully this will aid anyone else encountering similar problems

  • Software Metering Report Wildly Inaccurate

I've recently begun using the Software Metering feature in SCCM 2012, and when I pulled a certain report for my supervisor some of the information was incredibly inaccurate. Specifically, the "Total Usage of all Metered Software" report tells me
that in the month of September we had 20,000+ users open Internet Explorer. However, if you click the software entry for Internet Explorer it reroutes you to the "Usage Trend Analysis" report that displays a much smaller number for that specific
month - more like 600 users. Other software items have presumably correct entries that are identical in both the Total Usage and Usage Trend reports, but a handful of programs like IE, Chrome, and some Office products are showing up in the Total Usage with
tens of thousands of users counted while another much more reasonable number is reported in the Usage Trend data.
I've checked the Software Metering rules, and they're pretty bare bones - executable file name, neutral language or sometimes just English selected, and an asterisk for version numbers.  Nothing special, as far as I can tell.   Any thoughts
on how this might be happening?

Well this is interesting - I think the Total Usage for All Metered Software report must be completely screwed up on our system.  I can't tell what the query is searching for, but none of the data appears to be accurate except Terminal Services use.
For any software entry, if I click it and compare the "Users" column data from Total Usage for All Metered Software to Total Usage Trend Analysis, it's always off.  The query looks pretty straightforward, insofar as I understand things:
                declare @TimeKey int
                set @TimeKey=100*@Year+@Month
                select mr.ProductName as C018,
                IsNULL(UC.UCount,0) as C049,
                IsNULL(TSUC.TSUCount,0) as C050,
                IsNULL(UC.UCount,0)+IsNULL(TSUC.TSUCount,0) as C051,
                mr.SecurityKey
                from fn_rbac_MeteredProductRule(@UserSIDs) mr
                left join
                select SecurityKey, count(*) as TSUCount

                where mus.TSUsageCount > 0 and
    mus.TimeKey=@TimeKey) as TSUsers
                group by SecurityKey
                ) as TSUC on mr.SecurityKey=TSUC.SecurityKey
                left join
--select mf.SecurityKey, count(distinct ResourceID) as UCount
                select mf.SecurityKey, count(*) as UCount
                from fn_rbac_MonthlyUsageSummary(@UserSIDs) mus
                join fn_rbac_MeteredFiles(@UserSIDs) mf on mus.FileID=mf.MeteredFileID
                where
                -- mus.TSUsageCount = 0 and
                mus.UsageCount > 0
          and mus.TimeKey=@TimeKey
        group by mf.SecurityKey
    ) as UC on mr.SecurityKey=UC.SecurityKey

    - enabled Software Metering \Administration\Overview\Client Settings (Scheduled Every day)
    - enabled Software Metering \Assets and Compliance\Overview\Software Metering (Some are enabled)

You could check out mtrmgr.log file from the client and see what happens if you open and close programs.
After that try to run "Software Metering Usage Report Cycle" from client interface.
I did that (with the program Adobe Acrobat XI, which is enabled in de software metering in SCCM)

  • Software Metering is not generating rules

    Hi,
I have software metering enabled to collect data every 2 days.
I have also enabled "Auto-create disabled metering rules from recent usage inventory data" with 10% and 1000 rules for the other two fields.
I find that not a single rule has been generated till now.
I am unable to find any article so far on troubleshooting this issue. Can someone please shed some light on this?
Edit: By the way, am I being impatient or does this process take days to complete? It has been 2 hours since this was enabled and I have ensured the data collection happens during working hours. In fact, it was set to happen about 20 mins back.

2 hours? yes, you are being impatient. check tomorrow--or better yet, next week.  :)
Back (previous job) when I was trying to use the built-in stuff for Metering (new job we use a 3rd party application), one thing I learned was to find out from the powers-that-be *exactly* what they intend to do with this data.  Depending upon what
they expect to do with the results, it may (or may not) make sense to create a custom rule metering for widgets version *, instead of when the auto-created rules might make 4 different rules you would optionally enable, one each for version 1, 2, 3, 4... and
then next week when you deploy version 5... you aren't monitoring for that.  and then 3 months later Mgmt asks why the usage of Widgets isn't being properly tracked, and you trace it back to not enabling the rule for version 5....
Personally, I doubt you'll get a comprehensive answer to the question from the powers-that-be.  In my experience, they don't know yet exactly what they will do with the information--they just want the information, and they'll figure out a strategy later.
But you can always ask... and make yourself look awesome and forward thinking to mgmt.  (when really, you just want to CYA so you don't get yelled at for neglecting to enable that monitoring rule for Widgets 5 next week).
    Standardize. Simplify. Automate.

  • Core differences between Asset intelligence and Software Metering

    Hello all,
    A small doubt,
What all are the core differences between Asset intelligence and Software Metering.
I am asked to implement License management for certain software in my environment using SCCM 2012 R2, where I should get the report on number of licenses of one particular software used during particular timing. Will this be possible using Software metering
    alone.
Is there any extra cost involved in for software metering or asset intelligence?
    Regards,
    Vishnu

    Hi,
    3.No
