Doubt adding NAC Server to Manager

Hi all.
I have a pair of managers in HA mode and a pair of servers in HA mode. The solution is working in OOB Virtual Gateway.
When i add the server in the manager, which IP address must i use, the service IP address or the physical Ip address.
I'm running 4.8.2

Beware when downloading the OOB Server Failover license to use the Primary MANAGER MAC address in the license generation. Otherwise it will not work.
Additionally make sure that time is synchronous between the CAM and CAS and that the CAM's certificate is trusted by the CAS and vice versa.

Hi, I'm working on a NAC L2 OOB wired design with 1 CAM and 1 CAS. I've not included failover to the design for the obvious financial reasons, and want to figure out the affect that the network would have in the case of a failure.
1.)What would the users experience in the event of a CAS failure? both currently online users and new users
2.)What would the users experience in the event of a CAM failure? both currently online users and new users
3.) Are there any ideas on how to minimize the effect on the users in the event of a failure, w/o adding failover bundle ?

If you are out OOB, then a CAS failure would not affect logged in, remediated users, anyone not logged in would be stuck because when the CAS fails, the connectivity to the CAM would be lost.
If the CAM fails, you will not be able to log in, do remediation or anything. VLAN settings on switches will be frozen where they are at the moment of CAM faiure. Not that you could easily connect to switches, change vlans to allow users onto the LAN and the CAM would accept that passively when restarted but if you use the Agent it will probably want to log in again, which is not a huge issue if you use AD SSO.

NAC Server and NAC Manager installation

Hi experts,
When I've tried adding NAC Server to NAC Manager in CAM web management, it prompts: Failed to add server: Could not connect to 10.130.80.81
Is there anything I can do for solving this?
I'm new for NAC Manager and Server installation.
The version using is 4.8.2
BTW, I don't know how to generate SSL certificates (not temporarily) for installation, can anyone help also?

this is related to the certificate issue.
just generate temp certificate in NAM and NAS.
Export the certificate along with key and store it in different location.
then in SSL option there is trusted certificate authority
load NAS certificate in NAM and NAM certificate in NAS. then try to configure or add NAS to NAM.
it will work.

NAC Server without NAC manager

Hi,
Would like to know whether NAC server (NAC appliance 3355) is enough to provide NAC functionality without NAC manager in the network for one location say Datacenter.

Hi Ashok,
You can use a single CAS in the network in a single location in case you have a centralized CAM for multiple locations but you would need atleast one CAM to manage all the CAS servers as all the settings and policies for CAS are stored in CAM.
Moreover, the CAS product licenses are generated based on the eth0 MAC address of the CAM, so atleast one CAS is essential.

I am sure that I am giving correct credentials as I did it couple of times.I just added the essbase server as LOCALHOST and username as ADMIN and password as PASSWORD and confirm password as PASSWORD.I am not sure where I am making mistake.or Do I need to configure anything after adding the ADMINISTARTION SERVER through CONSOLE.

Yes,While configuring essbase server,it has asked me to provide userid and password twice.
First time:
By default it came with userid as hypuser.But i changed it to essadmin(This is the user which i have created in database specifcally for essbase).
Second Time:
After the above step is completed ,when i click next,It was asking the for userid.By default it came with admin.I left it as it is and provided password as password.
After this it took several mins to configure and finally came out successfully.
Now my doubt is that Do I need to provide essadmin(which i have given while configuring essbase server) while adding essbase server through CONSOLE?.

Cisco NAC server hang issue

Hi All Cisco NAC Experts, I am currently experiencing a Cisco NAC NAC3315-SVR hang issue.
The issue was already happened for few time on the same server and the symptom when NAC server hung includes no response to ICMP ping, no response to SSH request, no response for access request to CAS management page via https, HA pair was detected down from its HA neighbor and triggered failover to secondary CAS.
The CAS server was recovered after manually power cycle the hardware.
After went through the attachment CAS logs, I found all the services and logging service were stopped when the issue happening but unfortunately there is no any suspicious activity was logged down before or during the issue happening.
I have also tried to search on Cisco Bug Toolkit but no similar case was found, I believe it was not caused by software bug due to the software version 4.8.1 is running in my company for years and only one CAS server having the issue.
That will be great if any one can help me out for the same.

Hi Bro
This could be a problem with the certificate in that Cisco NAC appliance itself. My suggestion is to redo the certificate generation between the CAS CAM and CA Server. If this still doesn’t work, it could also be due to overload/broadcast storm on the LAN portion. This can be verified via Wireshark.
If all else fail, then a hardware swap would seem like the next best thing.

SQL Server Configuration Manager

Hello,
I have a SQL 2008 SP3 install on Server 2012. It is clustered active/active. When opening SQL Server Configuration Manager > SQL Server Services, I receive the following message: The server threw an exception [0x80010105]
I have tried restarting WMI and this didn't resolve the issue as many posts and blogs have suggested.
I found this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2849344 but it only applies to SQL Server 2008R2 not 2008 that we have installed.
It states to grab a msclus.dll out of %windir%\syswow64 on a Windows 2008R2 box. A 32bit msclus.dll file or a 64bit file does not exist on a 2008R2 box in this directory. There is one in %windir%\system32 directory but the article clearly states
it exists in the Syswow64 folder.
Any help would be appreciated.

According to your description, the msclus.dll does exist in %windir%\system32 directory in your Windows Server 2008R2. I check this file in my cluster environment, it does exist in %windir%\winsxs directory. Personally, it belongs to system files, and maybe
saved in different system path due to the system version and bit. The different path will not affect to copy this file to the related directory. Then, register this .dll file on each node of the cluster.
About this exception [0x80010105], we need to verify if you change service account to a new domain user by SQL Server Configuration Manager in a clustered SQL Server instance. If yes, you need to ensure that Everyone is added to "Remote Launch" and "Remote
Activation" DCOM permissions, and new domain user account have read rights in WMI.

It's hard to give you specific answers unless we know your current setup. Any server, or specifically OS X server, may not be appropriate for your workflow.
A server is a centralized computer which can act as a file repository for other computers and devices to access. It can also centrally manage authentication for other resources (ie, have a single sign in for multiple services), can act as a web server, a calendar server, and other features. Of course, many of those things are available from other providers, but having your own server means that you have more control (and responsibility) over them.

Has anybody successfully used a WebLogic 6.1 SP1 managed server that
connects to a WebLogic 6.1 SP 2 admin server?
BEA's docs claim:
"The Administration Server must be running the same version of
WebLogic Server as the Managed Servers in its domain. The
Administration Server must also have the same or later service pack
installed as the Managed Servers in its domain. For example, the
Administration Server could be running version 6.1, Service Pack 2
while the Managed Servers are running version 6.1, Service Pack 1."
This is precisely what we want to do, but it's not working. In this
case, we need to run the admin server and managed server on the same
machine, but we need the managed server to run SP 1 to work around a
bug in SP 2. So to our initial installation of WebLogic 6.1 SP 2,
where I run the admin server, I added a second installation, this time
WebLogic 6.1 SP 1, with a different BEA_HOME. When I start the
managed server from this second installation, I can see from the logs
that it is starting up correctly as 6.1 SP 1. But then it fails with
a ClassCastException when connecting to the admin server (I have
included the stack trace below). This seems typical of version
compatibility problems I've had when I've tried connecting to a server
with a client of a different version.
But in this case, you are supposed to be able to have the managed
server with a lower service pack. Does this work for anybody? Has
anybody encountered the problem I'm having? Note that the servers are
not clustered, if that makes any difference, and we have a custom
security realm in addition to the default file realm (though "system"
of course is in the default file realm).

After adding "<native-io-enabled>false</native-io-enabled>" in cofig.xml as shown below , i am able to start the admin server.

my managed server heap size properties are
-XX:PermSize=256m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -Xms256M -Xmx512M
But the error with Admin server also and we are not providing any heap size properties to admin server. Becuase while creating the domain, i haven't got any
option to set the heap size for Admin server. Am i required to set heap size properties in Admin server by following this path "Summary of Servers >AdminServer->Server start->"Arguements"?
Sorry, i am not able to find activity.log. Can you please tell me the location where i can find acivity.log. If i am not wrong, are you taling about serverOut.log? If that is serverOut.log, please tell me which log you require? is it admin server or managed server?

Question on adding new server to existing pool in OVM 2.2 environment

I have an existing iscsi based server pool with one server attached to the pool. I am adding a second ovm server. I have configured the iscsi and multipath modules and can see the repository lun.
I then added the server to the pool via ovm manager, but the server is not fully participating as the agent did not create a mount point for /OVS so I can't see the repos directiories from the new server. A "df" does not show the device as it does on the first server.
The manager gui does show the server as part of the pool even though we received an error.
In the ovm manager log, we see the following messages.
Check prerequisites to add server (ovm2.highlinehosting.com) to server pool (san_pool1) succeed
During adding servers ([ovm2.domain.com]) to server pool (san_pool1), Cluster setup failed: (OVM-1011 OVM Manager communication with ovm1.domain.com for operation HA Setup for Oracle VM Agent 2.2.0 failed: errcode=00000, errmsg=Unexpected error: <Exception: ha_check_cpu_compatibility failed:<Exception: CPU not compatible! {'ovm1.domain.com': 'vendor_id=GenuineIntel;cpu_family=6;model=44', 'ovm2.highlinehosting.com': 'vendor_id=GenuineIntel;cpu_family=6;model=46'}> )
I'm not sure why it's complaining about cpu compatibility as we are not using any HA features at this time, and both servers are identical in make and model. They are both equipped with the same cpu type and speed.
I checked ocfs2 network connectivity by executing the command "nc -zv nodename 7777", which ran successfully from both nodes. The manager was able to propagate a valid cluster.conf file to both servers. I restarted the ovs-agent service on the new server.
Are there any other configuration steps that I need to take on the new server before trying to add it to the pool? I do need to tread carefully as I have live guests running in the pool.

Add, and tried to locate the AdventureWorks2012_Data.mdf file in my C:/Users/e1enxshc/Downloads folder: this mdf file was not there in the "Select the file" box!!!??? I am pretty sure that mdf file has been downloaded into that "Downloads"
folder. I am lost completely. Please kindly help, advise me what it is going wrong in my "Attach" the mdf file to my Databases of SQLEXPRESS, and respond.

P.S. I moved the AdventureWorks2012_Data.mdf file to my C:\Temp folder and did the "Add" again. It located the mdf file. I added the AdventureWorks as the name of Database in SQLEXPRESS, then I clicked Add. I got the following fatalerror:

What happens when NAC Server License Exceeds ?

Hi all,
Got a simple question for which I could not find the explanations ?
I know that licensing is run by the endpoints which are in Online User (posture assessed) list.
Lets say I purchased a NAC server with 100 License. What happens if a client connects to the network as the 101th user ? Is there a flexible licensing option as in other security products of Cisco ?
Also anyone has any info about the roadmap of licensing for Cisco NAC products ? Such as central management of licenses, license pools or etc. ?

"BPEL developer" means business process developer(process caller) or bpel engine developer(process runtime enviroment developer) ?
This afternoon,I installed oracle PM and did some tests. The bpel server creates two process instances which have the same correlation data.

NAC Server still in "Fallback: Allow All" state

Hi Guys,
i have a strange behaviour under my NAC Server.
Today I saw that my NAC Server is in Fallback: Allow All state and the CAM is in Manager: DEAD but
in the CAM web administration i can access that CAS.
The CAS can ping the CAM too.
there are two things that were changed in the last month.
The CAM was moved to other city and they are using a 2MB link connection between them.
The IP Address of the CAM was changed.
I've checked my link connection between them because my CAM is in a different city of the CAS but my link is in 50% load.
Does anyone know any possibilitie to solve this?

Are you using ip based certs or domain name? Also make sure when you do an nslookup that the CAS is able to resolve the ip address of the CAM. Also check your firewall and make sure that you are allowing all ip traffic between the CAS and the CAM.
Also check yoru certs on the CAM and make sure that they havent expired. Are you using a standalone CAM and CAS setup are are they in failover configuration?

Creating Weblogic domain with Admin Server and managed servers on different

I am trying to create Weblogic domain where Admin Server and managed servers on different machines. However I am unable to find any steps which would allow me to do so. The config.sh script always creates an Admin Server. Please help.

Whilst the method that Lawrence gives can result in a domain that is perfectly functional, it is a method that can result in errors as you are having to enter the same information twice. Also you will create two admin servers, as the second domain creation will have the console added to it on the renamed admin server and this will give issues.
The best method to create a domain spamming multiple physical machines, is to create the domain with all the components on the first machine. This means planning the domain and making sure all components are added once; so having the information about the domain written out is wise. Ensure that the WLS software is installed in the same path on each machine before starting.
Then copy the domain that you have created from one machine to the other, keeping the same paths. You can simply copy (I've used this method multiple times without issue) but the supported way would be to use the WLST PACK and UNPACK methods. These create and extract domains from templates.
