Prefer using ASM ,bu need first configure this,it is not simple processes , because of this you can select just

Following will be required for created a custom business object.
1. Object Type - ZTEST (Internal Techincal Key)
2. Object Name - ZTESTNAME (Technical Key Name)
3. Name - TEST (Name of BO, it is used while selecting the object type)
4. Description - (Short Description of BO)
5. Program - ZTESTPROGRAM (ABAP program in which the methods of the object type are implemented)
6. Application - A or B.. etc (Area to which your BO is related)
Please remember that you can learn these basic things by giving F1 help on those fields and in HELP.SAP.COM.

Doubt Regarding Statistics Collection in 10g

Hello,
Me Jr Dba i have a doubt regarding statistics calculation in 10g.As we know that if we set
the initilization parameter STATISTICS_LEVEL=Typical then AOS(Automatic Optimizer staistics) calculate the statistics for the tables, whose blocks are greater then 10% changed from the last calculation.Here my doubt is since already statistics are gathered,
is there any necessity for us to gather the statistics manually by using
DBMS_STATS.GATHER to see the tables or system statistics.

If the table/s are changing very frequently than its better to gather the stats manually.This would lead teh volatile table coming up into the stats job again and again.
For the system stats and data dictionary stats,they are not collected by default.So there is no choice but to gather them manually.

Then only session can failover to other nodes when active node goes down/evicted.
Is it mandatory or not depends on your requirement. :) That is the main concept of introducing TAF in RAC. still if you wont use then what is the need to have RAC in your environment.?

Doubt in creation of capacity

Hi All
I have a doubt as what effect the "Active version" field has in the creation of capacity.I have created a capacity with 20 number of individual capacities within it and maintained all details pertainng to individual capacity correctly.Now when look for CM07 I am not getting the cumulation of 20 capacities as Available capacity whereas getting only one capacity value.In the creation of the capacity (in the header screen) I have not amended any value against the active version field.
Might this be the reason for the above.Please advice

Hi.Thanks for the reply.I have not proceeded upto routing.On checking only one capacity value i have stopped proceeding further.
Another unusuall thing is SAP help says if you have not enter anything against Active version field then the system will take the 'standard available capacity' for capacity planning.Hence i have the doubt as the standard available capacity viewed in cr13 is cumulative of the 20 capacities,but still in cm07 i am getting only one capacity value as available capacity.
Please advice.

Errors in manual creation of oracle 10g database

I created oracle 10g database manually and i am getting post installation errors.. could you please help out?
I executed @?/sqlplus/admin/pupbld.sql but it still shows

i tried to see

StandBy database creation in oracle 10g

I have to create stand by database in oracle 10g i am working on (Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Prod) .Plz any body provide steps required for creating stand by database in oracle10g.Both the database db1 and db2 are running on archivelog.I am confuse how to set archivelog parameter that goes to db2(standby database) from db(primary database).Any one provide me steps to properly configuring the stand by database.

These are the detailed steps that i performed on standby and primary database.
On both the systems i install the oracle in E drive and the database i create in G drive and archive destination also in G drive.
Like G:\prod1\(all the datafiles,logfiles and control file).
G:\arch\(all the archive files).
ON PRIMARY DATABASE(IP:192.168.2.14):
1.First i create a database with DBCA and the database SID is prod1.
2.Put the database in archive mode and also enable the force logging.
3.Shutdown the Primary database and modify the following parameters in pfile.
log_archive_dest_1='LOCATION=G:\ARCH'
log_archive_dest_2 = "service=STDBY mandatory reopen=60"
log_archive_dest_state_1 = enable
log_archive_dest_state_2 = enable
log_archive_min_succeed_dest = 2
4.Mount the primary database and create the standby controle file and create the spfile from the modified pfile.
5.Shutdown the primary database and take the backup of all the datafile,logfile,standby controlfile ,passwordfile,pfile in a folder.
6.Startup the primary database.
Tnsname.ora Configuration.
Create the connection string using the Net Manager with name STDBY and in host name i provide the IP address of the standby database.
ON STANDBY DATABASE(IP 192.168.2.9):
Listener.ora Configuration.
Create a listener using the Net configuration Assistance.
1.I copy the datafile,logfile and standby controle file in g:\prod1
2.Copy the E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\admin\prod1 folder from primary database and past it on the same location on the standby database.
3.On standby pfile i change only the standby_archive_dest parameter to g:\arch.
4.Create the service with oradim -SID -NEW prod1 -STARTMODE manuall
5.Start the standby database in nomount mode.
6.Create the spfile from pfile and shutdown the database.
7.Startup the database in nomount mode using spfile.
8.ALTER DATABASE MOUNT STANDBY DATABASE;
These are the occurs when i use tnsping stdby on primary database.

DB creation in Oracle 10g XE for Windows

Pls. help, I can't create a new db (CAFE). I already created the init.ora and the db creation script. But everytime I ran the said script in sql it displays this error:
" Error at line 1:
ORA-01501: CREATE DATABASE failed
ORA-01504: database name 'CAFE' does not match parameter db_name 'XE'"
Another thing is that, I can't find the default path of oracle, re: $ORACLE_HOME.

You might be happy using the XE database and simply creating a new schema. A LOT of people use the term database when they really mean schema.
A schema is simply an Oracle database user that has the privileges to create database objects such as tables and views. An Oracle database can contain any number of schemas. A regular user is then given permission to access objects in the various schemas.

Doubts in creation of purchasing gruops

We have a pair of doubt in the creation and use of the purchasing groups in SRM 70. Can you help us? Our doubts are:
- Can we create a Backend Purchasing group and define Local purchasing groups below this? Example:
      - BEPG (vvv)
           - LocalPG1
           - LocalPG2
- In a Purchasing group you can assign more than one user. In transaction SoCo, these users can see all the SC assigned to the Purchasing group. Is there any way to assign some SC to a one user and some SC to another user in order to only view their own SC in SoCo?
- In SRM 7 still exists the BBP_PGRP_ASSIGN_BADI? When is execute this badi , after the SC is released or before the WF is activated?
- Our client has the requirement to assign the purchasing group according the product category of the SC. Is mandatory to use the BBP_PGRP_ASSIGN_BADI or can we use another way?

In this case, the purchasing organitation is the child of the company, and the purchasing group is child of purchasing organitation.
My question is if I can have purchasing groups as a child of another purchasing group.

IBot Creation in OBIEE 10G

Hi All,
I have OBIEE 10G installed in a unix server and BI client in windows XP. Now when I configure the scheduler via BI client, under the general tab in which format can i mention the unix server path for the scheduler script, default script and temporary file path. As these paths are defaulted to my local machice D: drive.
Actually my problem is, I was able to login to Delivers using Administrator but unable to save a iBot. It says Authentication failed.

Database creation failed Oracle 10g x64

Trying to install Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 (x64) on Windows Server 2003 SP2 (x64).
Towards end of installation, it fails at Database creation stage, stopping at 2%.
Anyone can give any clue on why it happens ???

I have tried to run DBCA , but again it fails at 2% (when database files being copied)
I have also installed 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4) Patch Set 3 for MS Windows x64
also downloaded and installed latest Java
Still when trying to create databse, it fails at the stage of copying database files.

Ora 10g client compatibility

Accessing Oracle 8.1.7.3 databases with a 10.1. Client produces an ORA-03134 error - access to a server version not supported any more.
Where can I find which versions are supported - the documentation that comes with the client says nothing about it.

I have read the SelfStudy many times but Sheila can't help me. I have installed 10g XE Client on a different pc and tried connecting as follows to no avail:
FROM Run SQL Command line; I entered "conn glogo/*****@GServer:8080/apex" the report I always get is
ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occured
From Internet Explorer; I entered "http://GServer/127.0.0.1:8080/apex" the report I get is internet explorer cannot display the webpage
I ensured the listener is on by typing LSNRCTL STATUS on the command line of the system running the Server. The report indicates that the Listener is ready.
I am still wondering what is wrong! I have also changed network setting from DHCP to static IP without results. What next friend(s)? Do you know?
