  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Installation Error 2?

    Support:
    I just purchased Adobe Creative Suite 4 for my office and I'm having issues installing Acrobat 9. All other applications install, etc: Photoshop, Dreamweaver. To get ready I uninstalled all my old CS3 software and used the CS3 clean utility from Adobe. Then I searched all my files and registry and deleted all leftover files and registry entries.
    I restarted and began to install my wondrous new CS4! Everything went well until the end of the installation. I got an error saying Adobe Acrobat could not be installed. It gave me the below output, basically put: "Error: Error 2". I then went to the support site and installed the Adobe Air, Adobe Support Advisor. After a quick check of the "Creative Suite Product Install" option it returned, "The module found no solutions to report for the selected log file.".
    Adobe Installer Error Info:
    "Sorry you are experiencing trouble with this installation.
    Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional (At install, older versions get upgraded. A l'installation, les versions plus anciennes sont mises à niveau. Bei der Instalation werden ältere Versionen aktualisiert.)
    Error:
    Error 2."
    I don't know what to do now. I desperately need Acrobat installed for my business. I have searched the support site up and down and have found no information on the issue. I did find a support issue which says, "Acrobat 9 is not installed as part of Creative Suite 4 on Windows (XP 64-bit, Vista 64-bit and 2003 Server 64-bit): Adobe Acrobat 9 fails to be installed as part of Adobe Creative Suite 4 on Windows XP 64-bit, Windows Vista 64-bit and Windows 2003 Server 64-bit." However I have an x86 (32bit) system. Hell, I even tried to install the Windows KB update file and it wouldn't let me due to my system being 32bit. Link to the issue below:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb407134&sliceId=1
    I then also found a user who reported the infamous Error 2; however sadly he did not have the exact same issue although similar. He too ran the analyzer application and it also found no errors. He is also running a similar setup to mine (see specs below). He gets the same error when trying to install the other applications such as Illustrator, Photoshop, etc... To this day his issue has not been taken care of. Link to his issue is below:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b6f48a
    My system information: Windows XP Pro SP3 with a P4 3Ghz, 2GB DDR RAM, Radeon X1650, multiple hard drives, and the most recent updates, software, etc...
    Please help and thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Bob -
    I know my original post was over a year ago, but unfortunately I wasn't ever able to resolve it.  I worked with tech support over the phone wasting hours of both of our time trying to resolve this problem.  Now when I need to use Acrobat 9 Pro, I have to access it with my laptop and then transfer my work back to my desktop computer in order to use the rest of the CS4 Suite on my desktop.  The crazy thing is I'm running the exact same XP software on my laptop as I run on my desktop and Acrobat on my laptop works great. So I have no doubt that Acrobat works well with 64 bit systems on Vista and 7, but I'm not very confident that by upgrading to a new windows operating system will result with success.  This issue seems so strange to me since I am able to run 50 other applications on my desktop from other software manufacturers and can successfully download new applications from any software manufacture with the exception of Acrobat. If anyone has a similar problem and can figure out a solution, please let me know.

  • Unable to embedded xls files word doc with acrobat distiller 6

    Hi,
    I have a problem to convert a Microsoft Word docs with embedded excel(*.xls) to PDF using Adobe Distiller 6. The excel file will become an image file after conversion.
    Please advise on what went wrong or is this a limititaion of Adobe Distiller 6.
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Haikal

    I suspect that what you are asking as nothing to do with Acrobat. For what you are doing, there is no need to use PDF Maker (unless you are looking for links or such). You do not have to use Distiller (unless you are taking about the Acrobat Distiller printer with AA5 and earlier), but simply print to the Adobe PDF printer (that automates the use of Distiller). In fact, Distiller can not handle DOC files, so I suspect you are using AA5. However, the end result will be based on whatever WORD sends to the printer, not how Acrobat converts it. If text is sent, then Acrobat will convert it accordingly. Sounds like WORD is sending the Excel file as a graphic. It may just be that is how WORD handles that OLE aspect of the embedding.
    I am no expert on WORD (I use another package), but I really doubt that Acrobat is at fault. I would look at what WORD is doing. One way to do this is to print to a PS file (you can do this with the Adobe PDF printer using print-to-file. Open the PS file and you should find a graphic structure in the PS that represents the Excel file.

  • WLC Lifecycle License

    Hi,
    I have a Cisco Wireless LAN Controller with 51 access points, model 2601. And I would like to buy the Cisco Prime Infraestructure 2.0, I have doubts about the Lifecycle License, how many lifecycle device license I need? For 52 devices (01 WLC + 51 CAPs) I need the L-PI2X-LF-100 ?
    Thanks

    You'll need one lifecycle license for each AP, none for the WLC
    I believe you could go for one L-PI2X-LF-25 and one L-PI2X-LF-50 giving you 75 lifecycle licenses

  • How to get field action property in a pdf form

    Hi all,
    In pdf form, there is a Radiobutton field is there.
    Now i want to create a checkbox with same properties what and all Radiobutton is having.
    I got the all the properties from Radiobutton and created checkbox except "Actions".
    I checked with documentation In that i come to know we can able to add script by addJavaScript or able to set actions by setAction.
    Is there any possibility to get Action properties from a field???
    Please if anybody know let me know.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Christy

    Thanks a lot for your answer.
    I have one more doubt
    In Acrobat 5 we can easily change field type by selecting changetype option, the only thing we need to give diff name for the field it will change type what we changed with the properties what and we had in old type.(I m explaining here about radio To checkbox).
    If it is possible can u please explain in what basis it is working.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • How to attach files to a .pdf

    hi!
    i have a question regarding the atachment of files to a .pdf.
    i am a dentist specialising in implants and working in different practices.
    Unfortunately this comes with several problems.
    1. There is no dentist software which deals with the needs of implantologists. instead of ready made forms where i can put in values i have to write everything important using a simple texteditor whic is built into the practice software.
    2. as dentist software works on a server client principle and every client license has to be paid seperately i don't have a clinet on my laptop (the softwares are usually windows programms anyway) and even if i had because it is server client i would have to do all the work in the surgery which wouldn't work as i will have to analyze models at home and other things like this.
    i started designing forms in illustrator for me to use and to scan into the practice software
    then i put al the forms together in one pdf
    now i added text fields to the pdf that i wont have to print anymore and can import a copy of the pdf into the software of the practice.
    my next step would be to attach files to the pdf.
    i am dealing with different filetypes (raw data from my camera, tiff files from the xray maschine and dicom files from 3d scanning units). it would be great if there wasa way to make my pdf being able to attach files to it. there is no need to be able to display the files (i doubt that acrobat is capable of displaying raw or dicom anyway) i just want to store them with the pdf and if necessary export them from the pdf again that they can be watched in the applications that support this kind of filetype. if this was possible i could basically take the whole case home with me and after preparing just have one pdf which i import to the practice computer which contains all data.
    is there any way to do this? it would be great if i could creat a pdf which allows me to do this with an acrobat reader so there would be no need to take my laptop to the practice.
    thanks for the help!
    best regards
    jens

    I have a document that is a PDF to send and need to attach an appendix, as an icon that can be opened by the reader, within the PDF.  I'm not sure if I need a certain version of Adobe to do this or if it's just me not being able to figure it out    Thanks for any tips!

  • JSP TagLibrary...

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a doubt in how lifecycle of taglib works...
    public abstract void setPageContext(javax.servlet.jsp.PageContext);
    public abstract void setParent(javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.Tag);
    public abstract javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.Tag getParent();
    public abstract int doStartTag() throws javax.servlet.jsp.JspException;
    public abstract int doEndTag() throws javax.servlet.jsp.JspException;
    public abstract void release();
    Above is the sequence in which methods are called.
    THIS IS MY JSP PAGE
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <%@ taglib uri="cs6386-taglib.tld" prefix="cs6386" %>
    <TITLE><cs6386:first_tag /></TITLE>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    <H1><cs6386:first_tag /></H1>
    <cs6386:second_tag />
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    My question is
    IN THE ABOVE PROGRAM I HAVE CALLED 3 TIMES THE TAG CLASS. SO EACH AND EVERYTIME IT WILL CALL doSTARTTAG() METHOD.IS THIS RELATED TO CREATING NEW INSTANCE...SO IF I DIDN'T CODE doENDTAG() IS IT GOING TO BE A PROBLEM..OR HOW IT EXCATLY WORKS...
    THANX IN ADVANCE...
    SENTHIL

    I describe the tag handler lifecycle and what you need to be aware of in an article about JSP 1.2 on the ONJava.com site:
    http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2001/11/07/jsp12.html
    I'm pretty sure the "Lifecycle" section at the end answers your questions.

  • Adding LifeCycle Reader Extensions to a PDF Form created in Acrobat Pro 6

    HELP!!!!
    I have already created a form in Acrobat PRO 6.0, but I am running into the issue where my clients who don't have Acrobat STD/PRO can not enter their data and then save the PDF form as a copy and email it back to me with the data included. I understand that this LifeCycle Reader Extensions allows for such a result, but I have not clue how to add this funtionality to my already created PDF?!? I have downloaded the trial version Adobe LifeCycle Designer 7.1 (which appears to have full functionality for only 60 days)in hopes to just add this capability, but I am tripping over my own feet trying to figure this out.
    If anyone could provide some guidance...I would totally appreciate it. I am trying to get away from the paper piles (as i'm sure we all are) and it is such a tease to see the demo documents from the Adobe site actually do what I am trying to do!!! :)
    Thanks in advance for any advice/guidance anyone can give.
    Cheers!

    >. I understand that this LifeCycle Reader Extensions allows for such a result
    That's correct.
    >but I have not clue how to add this funtionality to my already created PDF?!?
    LiveCycle Reader Extensions is a product. You buy it. Note that the
    price is "on application" and varies with your company's needs, but is
    typically either tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. This is to
    offset the "lost sales" of Acrobat which people would otherwise have
    to buy to save forms.
    > I have downloaded the trial version Adobe LifeCycle Designer 7.1 (which appears to have full functionality for only 60 days)in hopes to just add this capability
    There are many products with LiveCycle in the name from Adobe. That's
    a different one.

  • Submit button issue in Acrobat 8 Professional/LifeCycle Designer

    I am using Acrobat 8 Professional and LifeCycle Designer 8.0 on a PC with XP Pro. I first made forms using the default email submit button and had an XML data file submitted.
    I'm now making the forms to submit as a pdf file rather than an XML file. I selected a regular button rather than the email submit button provided and made it a submit button to be submitted as a pdf.
    The forms are being sent as pdf files attached to emails using Outlook. The issue is that every computer has a different "reaction" to this submit button. My computer (PC), when I tested the forms,everything was fine - Outlook opened and I was able to submit the file. On another PC in my office, when she clicked the submit button, nothing happened at all. On a PC at home, I got an error message "this operation is not permitted." And someone on a Macintosh did not even get a submit button showing up on the pdf.
    We need to be able to send these files out so that everyone can complete them easily. I would appreciate any ideas on how to make the submit button so that it works on all platforms and computers.
    Thank you so much,
    Marcy

    Thank you to you both for your suggestions.
    Actually, Bill, this will not be a controlled environment at all. We want to be able to email forms to all of the 80 parents in the school, and have the parents complete them as pdf's and submit the information back to us as a complete pdf form. This opens up the potential for 80 different computers/ISPs/environments. And of course, my supervisor wants it seamless and easy with no glitches for all 80!! So as you can see, I have my challenge with this project.

  • LifeCycle PDF form = small size, Acrobat PDF extended to READER = LARGE SIZE

    When creating the dynamic PDF form in LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2.x, the file size is < 200K. When opening in Acrobat 9 Pro and extending to Acrobat Reader, the file size > 1.2MB. Is there any way to reduce the file size?
    Thanks!

  • Doubts abour JSF proccesing lifecycle and JSF phases

    Hi,
    I have doubts about the processing lifecycle of a JSF application if there are two different requests from the same user. For example, suppose an application with two buttons:
    Button 1 --> A load button connected to a actionListener method that load a lot of data from data base that will be showed in a table.
    Button 2 --> A Cancel button with immediate=true and connected to a action method that force a navigation to the same page when is pressed.
    Suppose the following sequence:
    1 -. User press button 1, I think that the following phases are executed:
    Request View --> Apply Request Values --> Proccess Validation --> Update model Values --> Invoke Application (in this phase the actionListener method is executed to load the data from database) --> Render Response (take long time)
    2-. Due to a big quantity of data the Render Response take long time and when the lifecycle is in that phase the user press the button 2. I suppose that the following sequence of phases are executed:
    Request View --> Apply Request Values -->Invoke Application (Action method that return a navigation case) --> Render Response (Render the page to the user)
    My question is, if the first request is in the Render Response phase, what happens with this phase when the second request generated by the Button 2 arrive to the server??? When the second request arrive to the server, JFS automatically cancel or stop the proccesing of the Render Response of the first request ?
    Thank you for your knowledge.

    It's always helpful to configure a "debugging" lifecycle listener that just prints out each lifecycle phase, so you can tell which phases are being executed, and in which phase some breakpoint is hit.
    This is as simple as:
    package tabpanelbug;
    import javax.faces.event.PhaseEvent;
    import javax.faces.event.PhaseId;
    import javax.faces.event.PhaseListener;
    public class LifeCycleListener implements PhaseListener
        public void beforePhase(PhaseEvent event)
        { System.out.println("BeforePhase: " + event.getPhaseId()); }
        public void afterPhase(PhaseEvent event)
        { System.out.println("AfterPhase: " + event.getPhaseId()); }
        public PhaseId getPhaseId()
        { return PhaseId.ANY_PHASE; }
    }and
    <lifecycle>
        <phase-listener>tabpanelbug.LifeCycleListener</phase-listener>
    </lifecycle>

  • Acrobat cannot start Adobe LifeCycle Designer! Help!

    Can someone help please?
    I downloaded a trial version of acrobat 9 pro LCD last week, it opened then, but not anymore. This is the message i get everytime i try to open it, "Acrobat cannot start Adobe LifeCycle Designer. You may need to repair or reinstall the application using the original installation program."
    MS SQL server 2009 was installed on my desktop this week, and from another discussion i read that this server and LCD dont get along with each other, and since LCD worked last week for me I am assuming installation of SQL server could be a possible reason why LCD wouldnt open now.
    My task is to create a dynamic form that should generate a report from just typing in one field, (for example, entering the name of an account holder should populate the remaining fields of the account holder's data as result.)
    has anyone done this so they can help troubleshoot??

    I wrote too soon.
    So the form seems to be done and functional.  I just had to click cancel before going to Livecycle.  Then I save it and work on it in Acrobat.  I don't know why Livecycle isn't installed correctly, or honestly, what Livecycle does that Acrobat doesn't.
    Anyway, problem resolved.

  • Adobe Acrobat, Reader and Lifecycle question

    I have forms that I created in Adobe Acrobat and Lifestyle.  The forms are useable by most but, some of my users tat are using Reader 11 are having issues writing to the forms.  The problem is random.  Also my environment includes PC's using Windows 7 and Samsung tablets using the latest Andriod operating system and Reader for Andrioids

     Unfortunately I am turning to this forum because the problem is random. Therefore I will reiterate the issue differently.   While using a pdf file that was created in adobe acrobat then enhanced in life cycle, I have users, both in MS Windows 7.0 and Android Jellybean, the users are nat able to input text or numbers into the fields. When the users send the pdf the data is absent.  I hope this is clearer.
