Doubt in SIT ..

Thanks you for the prompt reply, i had a doubt in SIT .See basically client requirement his Over time request has go from manager self service, so I had created an SIT (Overtime Request), and I had enable other check box in special information type (HRMS Resp --> Other Definition -->special Information types), But it was appearing in both the responsibility that is in ESS and MSS. But client requirement is it has to appear only in manager self service. So I had created one custom SIT Function for Mgr self service and I had attached that to the menu and menu to the responsibility.. I am wondering that how to restrict that overtime request in ESS and how to enable only for MSS.. Can anyone help me out to sort out this issue..

Hi,
I need an advise well to start with the scenario is that we are going to implement Oracle Apps for 3 countries due less number of employee in each country. we are just going with One business group under that we have different GRE now each GRE represents one country now under that we have a organization structure. The problem is if we use the diff menu for diff country still the country for which we have chosen the BG for override and we get the same people screen for all three countries. Now on the other hand we planned to create SIT as per the requirements of each country. The problem is that these are not the common SIT. So can any one suggest or clear my doubts as is it possible to have different SIT for different Country under 1 business group. OR is there any chance by which we can get the context of diff country in same business group. Will be looking forward for your suggestions

Nitin Singhyou can configure Custom Forms, where you list the SIT's that can be used, and link that screen to a menu and responsibility. Next step is then to create responsibilities per country.
Or you can go for EIT's, where the configuration happens at responsibility level right away. -

Is there any way to link to an external URL from your flash

the only way around this i've found isn't very useful - you
have to put a small xml file on the host server where the page you
want to link to is located. i seriously doubt every site you want
to link to will allow you to put an xml file on their host server
just so you can link to their page. the code in the xml file just
tells flashplayer that the site you are trying to access is safe.
it's called crossdomain.xml

no it doesn't. getURL() causes no security issues unless you
try to open the html locally and (try to) access something on the
internet.
unless your "flash site" is your local computer there is no
security issue. if your local computer is an internet server, you
just need to set the security settings for your local file and give
it permission to access the internet zone. -
2008 event equivalent of 2003 Netlogon 5807 event
I have a custom Opsmgr rule that alerts me when our Network team has made a new subnet and not told us about it.
I am upgrading all my DC's to 2008 and need to find the equivalent event to update this rule. I have a 2008 DC with missing subnets and cannot find any events to indicate this. I know that many event numbers were incremented by 4096 between 2003/2008. There
are no events numbered 9903, and no events that contain phrases from the old event like "undefined site" or "existing sites"
Does anyone know if such an event is still logged, and if so, what is the source/number?

If so, when you try downloading, and you get the "You have no access..." screen, just refresh the browser, and you will get to the page for downloading the source and docs.
By the way, I think Java TV is more or less dead.
I doubt the site has been maintained for some years, and the SUN -> Oracle move did not improve link consistency :)

Apple case design flaw - broken ipad
Having recently just purchased my shiny new ipad, I made use of the apple supplied case by putting it in the stand position so that I could watch the screen without holding it.
The audio noise was enough for it to lose its balance and topple of the side breaking my ipad. Not a happy customer.
Please be aware of using the case as a stand as it is not fit for purpose.2 things:
i have this case and there is NO WAY i have enough volume, even at full blast with MANOWAR playing out of it that it will topple anywhere!!
2nd: you used your ipad in its case, in the bathroom whilst you were having a bath??? and now your hunting out an exscuse that your ipad mystically flipped into the bath and got ruined??
if the case is used correctly the chances of the ipad "falling" over are VERY slim! its sits very stable and erect when the back of the caqse is slotted into the slot correctly. on a STABLE SURFACE its not going anywhere unless its wobbled or knocked quite considerably!
i would suggest you had it "balanced" on the edge of the bath..and it wasnt anywhere near stable! the thing that isnt "fit for purpose" is your foolishness at using your ipad, unprotected, next to a bath of water!!
sorry for your loss, but your gonna have to bite the bullet and accept its user error rather than bad product design!

in fact to give you the benfit of the doubt im sitting here with my ipad (in its case standing upright) watching SIN CITY (plenty of gunfire and violent LOUD action!) and typing away on my keyboard replying to you! the Ipad is perfectly stable with me hammering away my keyboard and watching the film! its simply not going anywhere! and it certainly wont go anywhere at full volume watching this movie!!

Not so long ago, I was a level 3 user with a couple thousand posts. Was all that wiped clean?
I see some people still have over a thousand posts to their credit: have they made all those posts since the forums have been redone? Or did they get to keep their original running total?
Are levels gone for good? What about voting? (I won't miss that).

Regardles of what is brought back or lost, the discussion panels will still remain a valuable source of knowledge and help: too valuable to abandon over loss of points or levels, IMO.
I can't say as I wouldn't be a little disappointed not to see number of posts and/or levels returned, just because I find it a handy way to gauge the qualifications of an answer (a fellow with 10,000 posts must know something!).
Either way, I do appreciate and respect Apple's efforts to improve this site. It remains a valuable resource. If speed and ease of use result from these changes, then they'll be worth our temporary loss of comfort zone. Change for the sake of change is not necessarily good (though does have some merit, regardless), but I sincerely doubt the site developers have gone through this change simply to get us users in an uproar. I've learned to have faith in the brains behind Apple: they haven't ceased to amaze and impress me yet (one of the few stocks that has consistently grown over the last several years).
One final word: if we were to resist change just to avoid discomfort and inconvenience, we may well still be using OS 9 (shudder). And I know, some will shout that we should be. But really, for anyone whose given OS X a real chance, would you want to go back? Give the developers a chance.

Hi all, first time here, please be gentle with me!
So, I've got a site I designed and maintain for a client and
he recently had an enquiry asking if the thing could be viewed on
an O2 PDA (UK mobile phone company branded PDA). He, of course,
asked me, and I said I'll find out.
Currently I doubt the site will work - it's designed for the
web, needs (mostly) a mouse to navigate and is 800px wide so I
can't see any way it'd work on a phone! So I'm guessing I'd need to
do a WML version ... right? Or is there an easy way to make an XML
site work on mobile devices?
Secondly would mobile devices work with the PHP script that
handles a members only area and subscription packages? Currently 3
pages of the site are protected using PHPGuardDog (soon to be
replaced) which manages user accounts and links them to PayPal
subscriptions. So to get to those pages a user has to have an
active, paid up, account and then enter their username and
password. Would that work on a mobile device?

Wireless site survey doubts with cisco aironet site survey utility tool

I have 1131 autonomous AP and we have project where we need to implement WLC 5500 with 1140 LAP.
Before that , we need to do site survey . we are going to use cisco aironet adapter and with the help of site survey utility tool we are planning to do site survey .
I have below doubt before starting the site survey :
1) do we need to configure the AP 1131 with existing LAN set-up of client to get connected ?
If yes , how can i shift this 1131 ap always from one location to another location and connect to respective vlan in switch ? It would be tedious job ....
because , We need to connect ( get associated ) our laptop always to 1131 ap and then roam around to get the RSSI , signal strength , SNR and throughput .... ...
to configure the AP to existing lan set-up of client , it would not be flexible to do site survey ?
without that , how can I just plug-in power to 1131 AP with standalone configuration .... and without connecting to switch ( any lan-port ) , do the site survey ?
Please suggest me .............

Please share the knowledge ....Site Surveys are important and should be done by a professional. A poor site survey can lead to a lot of problems. It would be hard to put all aspects of conducting a proper site survey in a single post. Lets cover a few of the basics.
1) If you plan to deploy 1140 model access points. Then you should use that AP in autonomous mode so you dont have to be plugged into your network
2) The AP gets powered by an exteral power source like this battery for exmaple:

users. HOWEVER, instead of sharing individual documents, we were wondering if there was a way that an external user (that we have granted
access) could sign into the public SharePoint site, and then see information that ONLY pertains to them.
I have been doing some research on this, and I haven't seen that anyone else has tried this. Has anyone had any luck? Or would you have suggestions on how to make

For external user, I am quite sure that we need to go through MS ID creation (I have created some test users using https://login.live.com).
Our public website is done and (almost) working. I have then created a sub-site for the same, this one to manage permission based on authentified user
But I am stuck when trying to assign a document library with relavant permission.
Would be great to share our feedback and I have searched a lto on the web and did not find any satisfying answer to this design (If there is any... here is my doubt...)

Create a site collection with dedicated content db with the help of server object model

I have a requirement to implement a create a new site collection with dedicated content db. i have got 2 PowerShell scripts which does the same. first i will create a content db and then create the sitecollection with contentdb
parameter with the created contentdb name.
Now the site collection created must contain few doc libs and few splists with look up columns, people picker data type, multiline of text, single line of text,choice field. hence i am thinking the below approach:
1) create a web template and include sp doclibs, splists , site columns in this.
2) i am thinking of a ui design to create the below:

"site collections" and uploads the documents into these projects and collaborate.
so my question is : On click of a button can I create a site collection with a dedicated content db based on the web template created with the hel of server object model?
The other approach is on click of this button call the power shell script which accepts the sitecollection name and contentdb name as parameter. is this possible in server obj.model ?
passing a paramter from code behind- visual web part ui to power shell ?
and it should create the site collec based on the web template and create the content db.
my doubt #3 : will it not throw error "request timed out" when creating the site collec and contentdb from ui ?Try below:

PowerShell is just a wrapper for the object model. You shouldn't need to reference PowerShell in your feature, just create the new site collection with C# inside your feature. There's a blog post here that illustrates some code that may get you started.
