Doubt on Alerts

Hi ,
        I had a doubt regarding 'ALERTS':
1.How do we test alerts ? Is it through report 'RSALERTTEST' , if so any mandatory parameters should be given while testing alerts ?
2. what are these "alert dumps" how to trace them in transaction ST22, any example for clear understanding purpose?
3. In case of alerts what is use of transaction "SLG1"?
plz answer to above questions & ur help will be more valuable .

You give the name of the Alert Category here.

Basically, if an Alert is not triggered in the runtime due to some error where youe expected an Alert to be triggered, you should be able to see the trace statements on why the Alert was not triggered here in St22.

SLG1 is the transaction that is used to monitor all Trace Staement of your alerts. It will also contain info like when an Alert was triggered, the recipeient of the alert etc.
In ALRTCATDEF you would need to select option Write Log for this.
ST22 contains only error dumps, SLG1 is similar to MoNI . To understand what alert was triggered etc.

Doubt on Alert Configuration:PI 7.1

Hi all,
I am working on PI 7.1.Ours is an Idoc to JDBC Scenario.We reqiure Alerts to be triggered for error notifications and also data from the payload as part of alert emails.
BPMs are not used in our design.
Please help me on how to proceed so that i can get the data from payload as part of alert emails.

Doubt about Alerts Out-of-Band 2012 R2.

Hi All,
I´ll deploy Out-of-Band of SCCM 2012 R2. I have computers with v-PRO last version, a doubt if in SCCM alters painel can receive hardware issues. For exemple hard disk failed and so on.

SCCM is a Management tool and not a monitoring tool. Hard Drive failure for Servers can be found using SIM tools etc. You need to look at some tools from the OEM.

Doubt in Alert

Hi All,
I need to configure alert for Mapping Error and Adapter failures for 3 scenarios .
I went through the blogs and threads on Alerts. What i would like to know is,
How many Alert category should I create?
How many Alert rules do I need? (Should I create a separate rule for Mapping Error for each of the 3 scenarios or one is sufficient for Mapping Alert of all three scenarios? )

Category is something you can decide ,how do you want to segragate the differ alerts.
How many Alert rules do I need?
You can go with 2 rules.
You create an alert category to use in alert rules.
You create an alert rule so that you can use alert categories to create alerts in certain situations

HI,
You need to first check all the requirement in Message mapping and if there is any problem with any of these then you can raise an alert.
R u checking your requirement in R3 system?
For your information here are the basis steps which is required for alert configuration.
Function module location will depends upon the situation,
If you want to validate a data which is coming to XI with the data which resides in a R3 table where you will companre the data of file and table and accordingly raise an alert. In that case you should call alert function module at the R3 side to raise an alert. you need to use the lookup for sending the data to R3 end.
Again function module location will depends upon the type of validation.
For raising an alert you need to first configure the alert please follow the below weblog written by Michal Krawczyk

In addition to my reply and you could see other comment in the message, I am sure you are referring to material management alerts in SAP B1. It is actually inventory management but not material management. if you want to create list using query alert, it is possible but the documents are note compressed into one file but it is only displayed row per row. So, you could read my answer in the last paragraph where I stated the documents will be displayed one by one in the inbox (it means row per row).
You could ask me about the alert, about how to develop it.

Alert Rules - Some doubts

Hello,
I have the following doubts about alert rules:
1) Is there a way to create an alert rule that verifies the comparison between two formulas? For instance: send the alert if sum(field1) > sum(field2)?
I couldn't find a way to do that using line filter or group filter.
2) Is it possible to create an alert rule that verifies data in two data objects? For instance: send the alert if dataobject1.field > dataobject2.field?

Hi,
1) a) A Web Server understands and supports only HTTP protocol whereas an Application Server supports HTTP,TCP/IP and many more protocols.
b) Web server mainly deals with sending HTML for display in a Web browser, an application server provides access to business logic for use by client application programs. The application program can use this logic just as it would call a method on an object.
c) Webserver is used only for jsp and servlets and for static functionality it has limited functionality and it doesn't provide any security ,persistence and it doesn't support EJB and JMS and JAAS like other functionality
whereas Application server provide all functionalities.
In short, Applicaion Server is a super set of which Web Server is a sub set.
2) Two-tier architecture is a client/server architecture , where a request to do some task is sent to the server and the server responds by performing the task.where as a three-tier or a multi tier architecture has client, server and database. Where the client request is sent to the server and the server in turn sends the request to the database. The database sends back the information/data required to the server which inturn sends it to the client.

If it is just a messasge , u can do it by going to se91-message maintainance.
create a message class and a message number. then display the message whenever a po is created.
the sample code will look like:

ORA-01591: lock held by in-doubt distributed

Hi All,
We are using oracle 8i to communicate informix through oracle 8i gaeways. we are getting ORA-01591 from quite a few days , the application team complains about the in doubt transcation issue. we tried to investigate and found the local and global cordinater is oracle database and the job trying to query and insert one of the table sitting on informix database. we also discovered that we have many "is local tran" entries reported in alert.log and when I query these transcation , they sometime show me in "prepared state" and after some time , the updated to "rollback forced" in the state column. also , we also have job running for cleaning up in doubt in database , which gets invoked periodically and doees the rollback force. going forward, we just failed to understand one thing that we are able to communicate the gateways through oracle database and also able to query the table for which the application team claims that when they perform insert or select they are getting in doubt. also , you would recommened to move/upgrade since this is oracle 8i , we already started migrating our databases to 11g , since this job is pretty critical , we have no option , but to live with this.I would really appriciate , if you could offer some help to me as I am clueless .

Hi,
You haven't said which gateway you are using but is it the TG4Informix or are using HSODBC (generic connectivity).
I would suggest the following -
- try to determine which transactions are failing and why to try and prevent them happening.
- if you are using Tg4Informix then check the recovery user and password so it can connect to the Informix database to automatically resolve transactions that have failed. That may be a reason why they are left in the system.
The 8i gateways have been desupported for a long time now and once you upgrade your RDBMS to 11g you should then obviously use the 11g gateway.
You can't use a 8i RDBMS against any 11g gateway so you can't do it before upgrading the RDBMS.
The Informix transaction log table is empty so the only action is to manually delete the outstanding transactions that have been left in the Oracle database.

>If error is in IE or AE then PI alerts you can trigger. You can raise alerts from ECC system also. So, if there is any error in case of ECC system then, ABAP stack alerts will trigger.

IMac Alerts

Once in awhile i'll get what I assume is an alert on my iMac, but I don't know what it's for. This morning for example I turned on my iMac and I only had Safari open but I heard a two tone alert, but I seriously doubt that alert came from Safari. I'll hear that every once in awhile but I could never seem to figure what it's for? Do you guys have any idea where I can find out where that alert is coming from?

The 3 tones alert means ram problems.
The kingston ram you got is not fully compatible with your imac.
This seems to be happening frequently with ram from kingston.
Get ram from OWC it will work better.

Deleting Alerts - Database & Dynamic,Aggregates in MPOS

Hi Experts,
Having few doubts on alerts - can any you please help me in knowing more about alerts.
1.We can delete unwanted alerts even by using macros - so what is was the exact use of tcode - /SAPAPO/AMON_REORG.
Does this transaction delete all alerts irrespective whether dynamic or database?
2. Report /SAPAPO/AMODAL_DELETE - Does this report is to be used only for deleting database alerts?
In general we delete alerts using macros for a specific selection or a data view..(please correct me if i am wrong..am just trying get my basics straight).
So how does exactly these transaction and report are more useful for deletion of alerts.
Can anyone please share a document or explain how to configure dynamic alerts?
For ex : In a business scenario - if we want to highlight a cell or row or column at a particular aggregation or disaggregation level i hope we can use macro elements for achieving this?But how does the configuring in dynamic alert profile helps us?
Do we need Overall alert profile in order to set up database alerts?
3.Alert Determination background
How is this different from setting up alert in macro?can anyone please explain.
Aggregates in MPOS
When we use "aggregates at MPOS" we can access data at aggregate level faster - my doubt was when we open a planning book for a particular selection - we can see data at aggregated level right ?If so how does aggregates help us?

1. /SAPAPO/AMON_REORG helps to clear database alerts which are saved in system. Please note only data base alerts are saved in system and dynamic alerts are not saved in system - These are determined by system at runtime - so the name dynamic.

Async sync bridge question

Hello,
I need expert advice regarding what is the best way to remove Async sync Bridge.
I am using the bridge from SAP to java application get message back. But I am not using to get any data, just to confirm that my message reached my java application.
Since I am not using to get data back in Sync call, i am planning to remove it since this is ver y resource consuming. On the other hand, i am palnning to use Async call and ackonowledgement.
If i use Async call, I have to depend on Xi queue for data synchronization. is there any other way that I can make sure my data is synchronised in SAP and java appl.

By default SOAP adapter gives u a acknowledgement back in the form of a HTTP code(irrespective of you explicitly asking for it or not)HTTP 200 response code means success,you will see this in sxmb_moni.
if you don't get HTTP 200 in sxmb_moni then you will see and error there(HTTP 400 i guess).

Alerts can be configured for any interface,it need not be Integration process.
You can configure alerts for your scenario and if u get HTTP 400 back you will see error in sxmb_moni and alert mechanism will trigger a e-mail to your account.

For Complete data synchronization you need a actual response from receiver system(not just HTTP return code)
but if you are concerned only with data delivery to the receiver system and are not concerned with how he/she handles it after it has been received,then HTTP response code will do.

I had one more doubt the alert that i am displaying doesnt appear the first time when i click the button it works only in case when the user clicks teh button the second time. Can you give me nay suggestion in what case this happens.
