Doubt on file to file

Hi Friends iam very new to this tool,
So i need u guys help a lot give me the brief details
about file to file transformation & also explain me that
how the data gets transformed.
Iam expecting immediate reply.
Thank You,
Girish.

hi girish
The file to file scenario is the simplest.. and helps u understand the basic working of XI..
i assume that u know the creation of s/w components , technical landscapes n business landscapes in the SLD n how to get it into the Integration Repository..
Once this is done do the following
1 create the source n the target data types in ur IR Object the data types could me information like name, address , emp no etc..
2. Create the message type for each data Type.
3 Create the message Interface..In this case you'll      need  2 intefaces 1 out bound from the source file to XI
and the other to the target file.
4. now create ur mapping objects.
-> message mapping-use the message type which u created earlier
-> interface mapping- use the message type n message mapping here
5.once done with the above go to the Integeration Directory.
6.Create a new configuration scenario n add ur business system to this.
7. Craete ur communication channels here.2 communication channels are required
one sender the other receiver both using the file adapter.Specify ur source n destination files n location.
in the sender communication channel set the File Mode to delete so that u will be aware abt the file being picked up.
8.Craete ur receiver detremination
9. Make a sender agreement and a receiver agreement
10 Once ur done with this activate all the objects u have created.
11. Trace ur output in the SXMB_Moni in the SAP logon..
Post ur doubts n points
Regards
Christina Dove

  • Regarding Background Job scheduling for file to file scenario

    Hi Guru's
    Good morining all of u
I have one doubt on ...
can we do background job scheduling for file to file scenario?
Please give me response as early as possible.
    thanks and regards
    sai

    background jobscheduling for file adapter...
you can schedule the file adapter according to your requirement as follows:
In the  Communication Channel Monitoring Locate the link Availability Time Planning,  In Availability Time Planning, choose the Availability time as daily and say create, give the time details, select the communication channel in your case file adapter , goto the Communication Channels tab and filter and add the respective channel, save it

  • Creating PDF files using file adapter

    Hi,
Is it possible to create a pdf file using, File/FTP adapter? If yes can someone please suggest how to do it.
    Thanks,
    Phani

    Hi Phani,
I would say pdf files are binary files with a specialized format.
You can move pdf files through BPEL or ESB (i.e. file/ftp -> file/ftp), or from file to database BLOB and database to file, by importing the schema as opaque.
However I doubt that file adapter can create PDF files from a plain-text xml file, i.e. as PDFCreator would.
In a sense a pdf file is much like a jpg, mp3, or zip file, it can be passed through bpel but not created.
In other words if you have a base64Binary element in xml, that you know is the complete bytes to a pdf, jpg, or other file, you can write it out as a file using the File adapter.
    Thanks
    Steve

  • File to File scenario without ESR

    Hi PI Experts,
I m doing a file to file scenario, which can be used for files with different structures. So I believe I should do this as just pass through without any ESR/mappings.But the doubt I have is how to configure receiver determination without a service interface. Can you please give me suggestions on how to proceed with this.
Thank you so much in advance!
    Anjana.

    HI,
    follw steps:
File to File Interface without ESR objects
this is very simple , you need to create Configuration objs
    1. sender Communication channel and agrrenment
    2. receiver Communication channel and agrrenment
    3. u have to provide dummy service interface names and name space in interface determination,
4.in receiver determination , we have to provide source and receiuvers bu.components and remaining dummy names.
    and provide
dummy name means : any name like xyzzz
    dummyname sapce : http://xyzzz

    Hi,
    I am going through Venkat Donela's simpe (File-XI-File)scenario Part1 and part2.

But my XI did not pick up the input file. I use SXMB_MONI and look at the message monitoring. It says "No message has been selected'. I don't see "adapter monitoring" option on my "Runtime WorkBench".
Is there anybody could tell me how I can monitor the scenario execution? I checked the every step states in Venkat Donela's sample.
Any comments and advice will be highly appreciated.
    Meiying

    Hi,
The best way to check if your file is being picked is to set the "Processing Mode to Delete"....So then you will know if your file is actually being picked...
Also go to Message Monitoring of RWB and check for the status. Because if you have content conversion problems then it will show there in MDT(Message Display Tool under Message Monitoring).
And if you are using NFS connection for Sender File Adapter, try to check for the checkBox "ReadOnly Files".
Pls go through the explanation of a simmilar scenario that i have explained below and compare it with what you have done..
Please go thru the following links and clear all your doubts.

  • File to file design advice

    Hi experts,
i have a file to file scenario. The third party wants the IDOC data as a IDOC file. So we have created file port and posting the idoc to that file port which creates file in the application server. here is my doubt when it comes to PI design.
requirement: the file name in ECC app server will be name1_<idoc no>. at third party it should be name2_<idoc no>. no data transformation is needed.
design 1: creating java mapping and do the dynamic configuration for the file name using dummy message types.
design 2: there is a adapter module provided by SAP which converts idoc text file to XML and vice versa. use that module and get the XML, do one to one mapping, using UDF change the file name by dynamic configuration. in message mapping we can import the idoc structure.
Please advice me which is effecive one in all aspects like performance, cost etc..
    Thanks in advance,

No.....you dont even need to worry what data is there in the file....or what format it has....just file name and extension should match...

  • File - XI - File (Async)

    Hello,
    I have a scenario File- > XI - > File. (Async).
I only want to delete a file in origin if it was generated at the destination, and right way. How do?
    Thanks in advance,
    Aroldo.

I doubt you can do that with the default File Adapter in the XI Adapter Engine. (Maybe if you write your own file adapter). When you set the mode to "Delete", it deletes it first before taking it to the XI pipeline. I know the pain.
Also if you think that the file is gone and the process is in error, you always have the option to restart where the file will be in cache. You do not need to Rerun the process, but restart it. This way, you wont need the file again.

  • Step by Step Guide Details for RFC to File and File to RFC scenario

    Hi Guru's
Good day to you. I am tyring to develop some scenarios based on RFC adaptor. so i want to start up with basic scenarios like RFC to File  scenario(Here i just want to pull some data from SAP using RFC and put it in destination folder as an text file) and FILE to RFC scenario (Here i just want to take some data from the file and update into SAP).
For doing these scenarios i would like to request you people to send me the step by step guide which explains me about the complete steps of configurations required to do the RFC to FILE scenario and FILE to RFC scenario.
I found some scenarios and i am in confused state. so i request you to please put your experience to help me out.
    thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Raj

    Hi Aaron,
I don't know your scenario and your ECC and PI versions but I learned how to use ABAP Proxy more than 1 year ago with the following tutorial:
Edit--> The forum doesn't allow me to post external link, just search "ABAP Proxy Communication Scenario" in google and visit the 1st result
The way to develop ABAP Proxys has changed a little if your PI is 7.1. In the ECC side, the transaction SPROXY looks much better too if you have a recent version of the ECC.
Edited by: Marshal on Oct 8, 2009 5:08 PM
I've found that SDN Document. Maybe the scenario is not the most simple to start with ABAP Proxy but is very well documented and is for PI 7.1. The document also handles the inbound and outbound proxys

  • Error reading product file driver files

When attempting apply a large merge patch I receive the following error:
Screening out files not valid for this installation...
    Determining valid on-site files...
    AutoPatch error:
    The following file is missing:
    /oracle/prodappl/pa/11.5.0/admin/driver/pasb038.drv
    AutoPatch error:
Error reading product file driver files [complete; make tapes]
    AutoPatch error:
    Error determining valid on-site files
    Any ideas?
I've tried using options=noprereq option, but that didn't help.

    - Try to restore the file from a backup you have Or just copy it from any other environment.
    - Make sure that you have included all pre-req patches in the merged file.
I've tried using options=noprereq optionBy this you tell adpatch not to check for pre-req, use 'options=prereq' instead.

  • Now that I'm a paid up supporter Maybe you will fix Firefox and return "Close File" to File on the menu toolbar.

I just degraded from Firefox 3.6 to 9.0.1 and found that one of the most useful tools is missing. On the Menu toolbar under File, "Close File" has been eliminated. Why? Why do I have to close the site I was looking at and go back to my Firefox home page and start all over? Why was "Close File" eliminated? It was one of the most useful tools in Firefox. I'm hoping I haven't gotten rid of the CD that has 3.6 install on it so I can upgrade to a great version of Firefox.

Some menu entries in the main menu bar are hidden if you use the mouse and only appear if you use the keyboard to open the menu (Bug 626825).
You can see the difference if you use Alt+F to open the File menu or other menus like the Edit menu (Alt+E) and Bookmarks menu (Alt+B) and compare that to what you see if you use the mouse to open the menu after you have made the menu bar visible by tapping Alt or by pressing F10.
