Doubt on Text Variable in report

Hi All,
Currently i am working on Bex Reporting. I have created the text variable of type replacement Path and reference charactistic is 0FISPER.
I have made all the settings in report level.
While running the report, the description is displaying as " # " instead of Fiscal year values. Can you Please help on this issue.

Hello Jelina,
The value "#" appears only if there are no values corresponding to the specified variable.
Please cross check if a legitimate value is available in the host variable/infoobject which the replacement path points to.

Hi All,
My requirement is to keep a dynamic text as current fiscal period in the Title of the report.
I have created a Customer exit variable and the value is getting populated. But the user does'nt wanna see the Key (Ex 2007004 ), he want to see the text as
Apr 2007.
If i am using a replacement path variable, then i can say replace with text. But as the text variable need to be in the report title, i have choosen the cust exit which will give only the key not the text.
Can anyone suggest me how to solve it.

Text Variables in Report Designer

We are creating some formatted reports in BI 7.0 using the Report Designer tool. One of the requirements is that when the report is flitered by a certain characteristic, say for e.g. Country = 'DE', the text associated with the country e.g. 'Germany' should be populated in the header of the report. Does anybody know if variable texts are supported in Report Designer ?

We have some odd behavior of text variables in the filter screen of key-figures.
After entering values in the variable screen, the report is executed.
Within the report all text variables are filled, with the values entered in the variable screen.
I say all, because we use both sap standard variables &0T_FPER& as customer specific &ZFSCYR&.
When i want to change the key figures showned, i press the filter icon for key-figures (BW 3.5)
In the list shown: existing filtervalues, the textvariables of SAP standard are filled with the value entered in the variable screen. However the customer specific is shown with the technical name (&ZFSCYR&) and not the value.
Has anyone experience with this behavior or even better a solution to prevent this?

Hi Rene,
If ur custom text variable is not getting populated then you need to check out the code that u have written in there in CMOD for this and ofcourse if ur using this text variable after report execution then it will definately be in i_step 2.
So best way is to debug your code and check that using code RSRT.

1) How I include the variable in the column header to display fiscal year which I have selected from the selection screen?
which variable should i use?
2) Where can i find more information about the characteristic and which variable to be use base on the characteristic?
For example: I would like to display the fiscal year from the selection screen/input screen when execute the report which also will reflected to the element definition and will display the fiscal year also in the column text?
3) Kindly advise base on question 2, the variable that i use in element definition it will also display in selection screen?
4) When execute the report the first selection screen input parameter it obtain from where it is from element definition?
5) Please advice how to be done when report execute with first screen input selection will also reflect the element definition of column and rom with the selection of the fiscal year?

Using Standard Text Variables for FYPERIOD in Report Title ?

Hi,
We have a requirement where the user input the variable 0fiscper to the query (001.2010). How to get the text value of that variable in the query description in the bex query ?
For example user input, 008.2010. We need to get "Aug 2010 Sales values " where Sales values will be the report text. I want to get Aug (month) and year (2010) before the report title. I have searched in google and sdn and could not find any link, but found a doc for the column header text using the same variable. I have tried the same procedure and its just display the zvariable name and Sales value's instead of the label. Please advise.

You can create a Text variable with replacement path of Fiscper as reference char. Select Key in details tab of replacing variable.
If you are just getting technical name, then it is understood that it is not getting replaced.

How to change the text variables for a standard report-writer report ?

I am trying to change the text variables for a report -writer report and transport the same so as to change the title page and the report output heading .I know the Report-Group 6Z02 and the library 6O1 to which it belongs.I tried using the change transaction GR32 after going to the area menu through FGRP . I try to change the text variables through but it throws an error "You chose a name in the reserved name range - try different name ".
I have also tried copying this report into another report and changing the new report . I was able to change and save the text variables . Now when I try to overwrite the original report 6Z02-001 with this new report , it does not allow that.
Let me know how I can change the text variables for the same

Text Variable for Top N in Report Name

I am using a Top N condition in my Report and need to take in value of N from the user and also display it in to title of the report.
The Text variable wizard does not give me the option to populate a variable value in the title..
Any ideas would be appreciated..

Once I press the variable button ..I know I can create a text variable over a characteristic..
My problem is that I have a Top N Variable created in the conditions which is populated by user entry and I need to populate my text variable in the report title by the value of N which the user enters..

Crystal Report for Enterprise Bex Text Variables

Hi
We are on Crystal Reports for Enterprise XI 4.0, Version 14.02.2.
We have a text variable for cost center in our column heading that displays "Cost Center XXXX Budget" where XXXX is populated by the text variable.
When this column element displays in the Crystal report it displays as "Not assigned".
When I use the exact same query in Webby the cost center displays exactly as expected.
Has anyone exeprienced a similar problem?

BEx Text Variables are fully supported by the BI 4.0 client tools, so this 'should' work
I'd recommend that you contact Support and log an OSS incident. We recently corrected a few issues with text variables in webi, so -at a guess- a fix needs to be ported to CR4E

SSM 7.0 - Text variable error - Could not acces to Reports

Hi SSM experts,
We are implementing SSM 7.0 SP6 HF1.
After the implementation of a text variable in PAS in order to include it in a report we have lost the access to the reports and the entry and approval settings.
These are the main steps we followed:
1.- Data model created via Cube Builder
2.- Data loaded via Entry and Approval.
3.- With that model the Scorecard and a set of reports were working as expected.
4.- After that we created a text measure directly in PAS via the following command: CREATE yearly TEXT NONKPI50_ACT 'KPI text'.
4.- Due to this creation we have lost the access to the reports in SSM UI and to the Entry and Approval settings in SSM Admin.
Could anyone please advice us in order to solve the problem?
We have realized that if we delete in PAS the text variable created everything returns to the original situation and everything works ok.
Did we create the text variable ok? Is it possible to create text variables in a model created via Cube
Builder and loaded via Entry and Approval?

this text variable is just a variable to be used in a navigator report, not to be used in SC. Sorry if I was not clear.
Robert, I will deal this probelm with the customer message team but if anybody has came up with this problem in any project please let me know how to solve it.
Anyway I will check how CONSTANT TEXT works. I will appreciate if you would let me know the result of your checkings.

Bex Variable Value as Text in the report heading

Hi
We have fiscal year as a Bex variable and the user is prompted to enter a value when running the report.
I have found that it is possible to add a filter to a report text box (Cell) by creating a formula and adding this to the cell contents.
However, is it possible to add a Bex variable to display as text in a report header. For example the user enters Fiscal Year = 2012 and the report header displays "Headcount for 2012".
Any comments would be appreciated.

0FISCPER text variable "External Characteristic Value Key" has changed

Hello!
Could somebody help and tell, why in BI7.0 version (but 3.x RRMX version) the format of the 0FISCPER text variable (also other time characteristics) has changed from 001.2007 (version 3.x) to 0/1 .0700 (version 7.0)?
I cannot understand the logic of the new Exterternal characteristic calue key. What can I do about it?

I figured out myself the reason for the problem: in the new version the fiscal year variant has to be defined in report so that the 0FISCPER would work.

Text Variable not showing headers in Formula

I have text variable in my report when I use in Formula its not working.Its a replacement path and if I used in normal col its showing header correctly.
Any ideas guru's

As I mentioned when I use in Formula to add up these text variables header is not showing.
EG: &ZP_FPTA& &ZP_FPTB& &ZP_IPVERS& this is in one col and there is another Variable like this I am adding up in Formula ,Addition is working but header is not showing correct
It shows as Tech name of variable only not picking up description from Variables..

Text Variable Not Refreshed

I created a data text variable user exit.
everyting works fine, but,
1) Selection options:
Year: 2010
Month: 1 to 11
The query and text variable return right values
Year 2010
Month: Jan to Nov
but, if i want to make new selection
2) Year : 2011
month : 1 to 11
the query results are fine, but, the variable text return its old : return:
year: 2010
month: Jan to nov
3) when I do it again
year: 2011
month: 1 to 11
The query and text variable return right values
Year 2011
Month: Jan to Nov
Why this happen? why they string doesnt work it 1rst..?

I assume , variable 'ZP_CALY2' , which you are reading is created on calyear/ month which stores data as '2011.001' for e.g.
and you are extracting year from the same and writing the same in a variable for calyear .
In that case correct the code as
WHEN 'ZP_AN2'.
LOOP AT i_t_var_range INTO loc_var_range WHERE vnam = 'ZP_CALY2'.
zt_dt1 = loc_var_range-low +0(4).
l_s_range-low = zt_dt1.
l_s_range-sign = 'I'.
l_s_range-opt = 'EQ'.
APPEND l_s_range TO e_t_range.
ENDLOOP.
Otherwise you can try this option ,
You are entering year in the selection screen , so create a text variable with replacement path and give the replacement characteristic as fiscalyear info-object used in the report .also restrict fiscal year variable in the keyfigure . use this variable along with the keyfigure .
It will give you the correct year .

Text Variable With Replacement Path : supported in Webi 4.0 or Not.??

Hello to All WebI Gurus,
We are on BO 4.0
We are building WebI report on top of Bex query using the BICS connection from IDT.
Our BW query is having some Text Variable with processing type "Replacement Path".
Also its having fiscal year period in filter with user input variable.
the text variables references Fiscal year period and are used in Key figure description,
hence whatever value the input variable will capture the description of Key figure changes accordingly/dynamically.
But when I try to use it in BO it throws me an error msg saying :
Unknown error occured in SL Services
I am Aware that text variable in this fashion were not supported in BO XI3.1
Used of Sap text variable with replacement path in Bo designer
So are Text variable Supported in BO 4.0 in this fashion.
Any response will be highly appreciable.
