Doubt Regading Admin Node

Hi,
One of my friend was saying that, In Multi Node Installations, wherever CM Services are running, Admin Node better to be there on that machine. we can have DB, CM on one machine and other ADMIN, FORMS and web services on another machine. In what perspectice he told, i id not understand. is it might be Performance perspective?
what do you say friends?

It really does not matter anymore on which node (of a multi-node install) the admin server resides on. The concept of admin server is becoming obsolete since all of the ad utilities (adadmin, adpatch etc) can be run on all nodes. Pl see page 1-23 of the R12 Concepts manual at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B40089_10/current/acrobat/120oacg.pdf.

To my knowledge, response.sendRedirect will be a fresh request. So a new Request object will be created and you will lose all information that you had in your previous request object, including session.

Admin Node Hanging when Monitoring Cluster in Console

          I'm running into a very unusual situation with my cluster. The administrative node
          is failing. I'm running all of my nodes as background services. The admin node
          usually fails after about an hour. That's usually after all of the nodes are completely
          up.
          The only application deployed to the admin is the console.war. I typically will
          log into the console and monitor the progress of all of my managed nodes starting.
          I typically go to the server tab a watch all of my nodes change from Red to Green.
          I do this by clicking the refresh icon. It refreshes every ten seconds. Once I
          close my browser and reattempt to log back into the console, it ends up hanging.
          I log onto the server and notice that there are no errors in my log files, and
          that the beasvc.exe is still running for the admin. All indications are that it
          is running. The only way to resolve the issue is to kill the service and restart
          it. I've tried to replicate this in the foreground, but I get a similar error.
          The admin node fails and in the dos command window, I get the following error
          at the bottom of my thread dump:
          "# An unknown exception code exception has been detected in native code outside
          the VM. # Program counter=0x77fb16cc"


JDK 1.3.1_02 is certified for WLS 6.0 SP2 on Solaris only.

ISE Admin node Replication error

Hello Everyone,
I receive this alarm some times:
Alarm
Occurred At:
Wed Mar 20 09:20:10 BRT 2013
Cause:
Replication Stopped
Details:
Replication Stopped for the host PANVMGP3301B(Secundary Admin node)
Today i go to Administration -> System -> Deplyment and i can see my secundary Admin/Monitoring node with status "REPLICATION DISABLED" see the attach image.
I can force the sync for the Primary and Secundary Admin Nodes? How i can fix this?

Yes, something prevented your nodes from staying in sync and as a result, the nodes stopped trying to syncup. You will need to manually sync the nodes. Go to Administration > Deployment. Then select/check all of the nodes and click on the "Syncup" button above the personas.

Admin node in Multi node Configuration

Hi,
Admin used to apply patches / run ad utilities and to run the upgrade tools.
If we only one MT then that will be the Admin node.
In my Case i am having the 2 middle tier nodes and 1 DMZ node and all all nodes having the
s_isAdmin variable ' YES ' in Context file.
In this case from where i need to run the .patches / run ad utilities and to run the upgrade tools ?

I have checked the mount points on all application nodes.
The APPL_TOP mount point is comming from (/test/applmgr) from same mount point (same filer )across all the nodes.
My other Question is
In case of non shared APPL_TOP , Admin should come from all nodes right ?
Means we need to apply patches or need to do upgrade on all nodes separately ?
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Log files under the admin node are getting filled up

I installed Sun One Web Server 7.o u3 in the following way:
a. Installed admin server on MC1
b. installed admin node on MC2.
c. When I started MC1 and MC2, the access log file (C:\Program Files\Sun\WebServer7\admin-server\logs) under the admin node MC2 is getting filled up with these messages for every 2 minutes:
MC1 IP ADDRESS - CN=admin-client-cert [24/Mar/2010:18:03:46 -0400] "POST /jmxconnector/remotejmx HTTP/1.1" 200 291
I checked for errors file under the admin server, and I did not see any errors, as such. Please help me to fix the problem. I installed node and server, as per guidelines
I have not installed any web app or deployed any config.

That worked. Thanks a lot. 1 more thing. I made a new configuration, while migrating 6.1(SP2) instances.After deploying on MC1/MC2, and when I am trying to start the configuration on the instances, it is giving the following errors for both nodes MC1 & MC2:

Adding license to an ISE secondary admin node

We have an ISE cluster with the license installed only on the primary admin node (generated on its UDI).
If we later have to promote the secondary admin node to be the new primary admin node (for some reson), then we need to have a valid license on that node generated with its UDI, right?
Is it possible to install the secondary admin UDI license from the primary admin node or do we have to deregister the secondary admin node from the cluster and then install the license on that node in standalone mode ?

What runs on admin node ??

Hi...
I've been thru concept doc and other resources, but, haven't been able to understand what services will run on an Admin server. say
DB node - Database services
Concurrent Proc'ng node - Concurrent mgr + FND Listener
Now here is where confusion arises , pls calrify, if following services run on these nodes or not
Admin node = ( as gud as Concurrent processing node, so concurrent mgr + FND Listener) ???
Web Server = Pretty much Apache only
Forms Node = Again Apace
Report Server = RRA

The administration server contains the files and processes used to perform patching and other maintenance tasks. It is located on the node from which you maintain the data model and data in your Oracle Apps database. You can perform the following operations from this server:
- Applying database patches to Oracle Applications (use adpatch)
- Maintaining Oracle Applications data (use adadmin), examples of the tasks which should be run on the admin node only are:
* Compile APPS schema
* Compile menu information
* Compile flexfield data in AOL tables
* Reload JAR files to database
- Upgrading Oracle Applications (use the AutoUpgrade utility (adaimgr) to upgrade Oracle Applications from 10.7/11.0.X to 11i).

Cisc ISE 1.1.3: PS not shown in Admin Node and no live authentications

Dear folks,
I have a distributed deployment of ISE. 4 Applicances, two are Admin and Monitoring while remaining two are Policy Server.
Policy Nodes are showing down... But, actualy they are running and working fine. Clients are being authenticated.
I checked the services "show application status ise", all are fine.
Any thoughts...

Moreover, I feel that there could be various reasons for this kind of issue, as in:
1. Incorrect System time and NTP server settings
2. The server certificate operations have not been performed directly on each individual node
3. The switch is not transmitting RADIUS accounting packets (attributes) to the RADIUS server.
The above three maybe a reason, please check and revert if they actually are the reason for PSN to be down.

Doubts in Route node OSB

Hi all,
Service callout creates two variables for Request and Response , so when I use a Service callout I do a Xquery transform and assign it to the Request
variable. Now how do I do this in a route node
when I tried to assign using x query transform i get an error +"BEA-382040: Failed to set the value of context variable "body". Value must be an instance of+
+{http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/}Body".+ Do I have to manually type the xml and use replace activity and replace the body ?

Actually i am also getting the same error and i have changed the node entire body to node contents, but it is not working for me..
Scenario :
Proxy build on my local WSDL, then Pipeline with 2 stages on request side,
1st stage : I am doing transformation to change the request,which i am getting from the portal into the format understandable by the System, i will call in 2nd Stage, I am doing this by using Replace action XPath ( ./* ) in body with my Xquery.
2nd Stage : I am assigning the same Xquery to a varable SAOPRequest and then I am calling the External Service using Service Callout and configuring SOAP Body, In that i am passing SOAPRequest variable which i created earlier as a SOAP Request Body and Response as a SOAP Response.
Save all and when i test it it gives me the error +"BEA-382040: Failed to set the value of context variable "body". Value must be an instance of+ {http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/}Body"

Disk space in 11i Application server - Admin Node

Hi Hussein:
I noticed that the APPL_TOP file system has touched 98 %. I have always seen that this never increased above 95% for a very long time. All of a sudden there is sudden spike in space consumption. While trying to identify unwanted files in log locations, I noticed that the "bne" directory had "Upload" subdirectory. These are actually the xml files used used WebADI upload. I am not sure if we have a program to purge and delete this files from this location. I will get atleast 2 G if I can delete this files.
BNE Directory location : $APPL_TOP/bne/11.5.0/upload

AFAIK, there is no concurrent program to purge the files under this directory and you will have to purge/clean the files manually -- Please log a SR to confirm this with Oracle support.

Admin console cannot connect to Node Manager

I've just installed WLS 10.3.2, configured a domain (TEST), a machine (PHILO), a server (TEST1), and a node manager running on PHILO. I logged onto PHILO, ran "startNodeManager.sh", no problems, it says it's listening on 5556, like I configured. However, when I attempt to start the server TEST2 (associated with machine PHILO and in the domain TEST) from the admin gui I get the following error:
For server TEST1, the Node Manager associated with machine PHILO is not reachable.
All of the servers selected are currently in a state which is incompatible with this operation or are not associated with a running Node Manager or you are not authorized to perform the action requested. No action will be performed.
If I log onto the local server where the admin node is running, I can telnet to PHILO 5556, so why can't the node manager be reached?

ISE admin , PSN and monitoring node fail-over and fall back scenario

Hi Experts,
I have question about ISE failover .
I have two ISE appliaces in two different location . I am trying to understand the fail-over scenario and fall-back scenario
I have gone through document as well however still not clear.
my Primary ISE server would have primary admin role , primary monitoring node and secondary ISE would have secondary admin and secondary monitoring role .
In case of primary ISE appliance failure , I will have to login into secondary ISE node and make admin role as primary but how about if primary ISE comes back ? what would be scenario ?
during the primary failure will there any impact with users for authentication ? as far as PSN is available from secondary , it should work ...right ?
and what is the actual method to promote the secondary ISE admin node to primary ? do i have to even manually make monitoring node role changes ?
will i have to reboot the secondary ISE after promoting admin role to primary ?

We have the same set up across an OTV link and have tested this scenario out multiple times. You don't have to do anything if communication is broken between the prim and secondary nodes. The secondary will automatically start authenticating devices that it is in contact with. If you promote the secondary to primary after the link is broke it will assume the primary role when the link is restored and force the former primary nodes to secondary.

3 Node Production to 2 node Test clone

We need to clone from our 3 node Production system to 2 node Test system. In our Production system, "APPL_TOP is not shared".
Source Nodes:(Production)
Node A. Databse Tier
Node B: Conc+admin
Node c: forms+web
Test server:
Node D: Database Node
Node E: Application tier node
I am extracted the following method from the Cloning Doc and Doc 233428.1,
Please correct me if i am going wrong in any of the steps.
On Source
1. Prepare the source system database tier(Node A) for cloning
cd <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil/scripts/<CONTEXT_NAME>
perl adpreclone.pl dbTier
2. On Node B
cd <COMMON_TOP>/admin/scripts/<CONTEXT_NAME>
perl adpreclone.pl appsTier merge
3. On Node C
cd <COMMON_TOP>/admin/scripts/<CONTEXT_NAME>
perl adpreclone.pl appltop merge
4. Copy following from Node B to Node E
prodappl
prodcomn
prodora
5. Copy the required files for merging from Node c to Node E
Log in as the APPLMGR user to node c and recursively copy:

But my doubt is if I wanted to do 3 node to 3 node cloning in future, At that point of time i have to Perepare my Production system with(In Node B and Node c)

please execute the following steps:
Please try the solutions one-by-one.
1. Please try ONLY to choose primary node the WEB node and then you'll go to the other node(s) - ADMIN, etc.
2. If the issue is not resolved and you have the same APPL_TOP names please do:
i. modify both XML files for having different APPL_TOP names like: "grp1" and "grp2" instead of:
<APPL_TOP_NAME oa_var="s_atName">grp</APPL_TOP_NAME>
ii. truncate the AD_APPL_TOPS table
iii. run AUTOCONFIG in this order: first on DB-Tier and on APPS -Tiers
iv. run ADADMIN --> Maintain Snapshot Information on all nodes
v. start the merging from WEB node and then go to Admin node and to the other nodes.
3. If you will still have the same error, please do:
i. re-apply the AD patchsets you currently have (ie: 11i.AD.I.2 minipack - Patch 4337683, 11i.AD.I.4, etc)
with the following options for ADPATCH:
adpatch options=nocopyportion,nodatabaseportion,nogenerateportion,hotpatch
and choose the patch driver file uXXXXXX.drv
ii. run ADADMIN --> Maintain Snapshot Information on all nodes
iii. start again the merge choosing WEB node and then go to Admin node and to the other nodes.

Error while registering ISE node

Getting this error while trying to register a newly built standalone VM node on primary admin node.
'admin' is not authorized to register ISE Node <node name>. Please check the credentials and/or privileges.
admin is the only account on the newly built VM node and admin has full privileges on primary admin node as well. I have done the registering process before as well and this is the first time I have seen this error... Any thoughts?

Though I assume its been almost a week's time and you might have solved this by now, but it may help others facing similar problem
When a node is registered with the primary, the primary node would connect with the node to be registered and the primary node itself needs to authenticate against that node which is to be registered.
You need to specify the Admin user password of the ISE node that you want to register. Make sure by logging on to the Web UI of the ISE node you want to register that you have the admin user password. Otherwise you should create / reset admin user for web UI of the node to be registered.
