Doubts about single edition license costs

Hi, I am a freelance designer new to DPS. I have just read the difference between the three single, professional and enterprise licenses and have some doubts. As for single edition I assume I do just one payment of 395$ for publishing a brochure (eg.a brouchure for a tourism office) and users could download it for free as many times as they want without any extra costs for me due to each new download. Is that correct? This is an important issue when budgeting.
By the way, when will it be available in Spain? Early 2012 as in the Netherlands?

Yes, even twice as that;-)
Single issue apps are available to everybody from the Appstore, and can be downloaded at will.
If they are free, no extra costs are involved, if they have a price, Apple collects 30% of it.

You can have as many articles as you want but you can't publish single edition for anything but iPad. No Android.

  • About "Single Edition"

    Just see the site write:
"Upon purchasing Single Edition, you will receive a serial number from Adobe via email that will allow you to submit one single-.folio file to Apple's iTunes App Store for publication. This product is currently available for publication only to iPad tablets."
    1) So, I can only ONE "single-.folio file" (book) for sell?
    2) Or just one ".folio" per upload ?
    3) the ".folio APPS" should be stored in apple store or adobe server?
    4) the "APPS" can be directy found in apple store or any ADOBE apps store?
    Thanks!
    Sonic

First of all, you submit a zip file, not the ipa.
Secondly, these apps are all in one. There’s no subscription model built into it.
Finally, you can sell as many as you want but you’ll need to pay for and build each one individually and submit them as individual apps.

  • Refund for single edition license

We bought a single license but haven't used it yet because our client now wants to use a professional or enterprise license.
Can @Himanshu Singh from Adobe please contact me to discuss refund and enterprise license.

I'll send you an email to discuss the details.

  • Doubts about named user license in CMC.

    Hi Gurus,
I'm kinda new to this issue, our client has a named license for only eight users, while testing we realized that a user can logon several times with the same user name in different computers. My questions are, What would be the potential costs that this may entail?, why can I logon several times with the same user?, Is there a way to logon on a computer ending the same user logged on another computer? I have read different posts but I can't find answers to these questions.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Following is explanation for NUL & CUL (named and concurrent user license):
    Named User license:
Typically associated with specific user names.
Allow 'physical users', that are named to access the system based, typically each 'physical users' will have their user name and password.
One named user license is occupied for each physical user accessing the BI Platform, typically this is one user account per 'physical' user.
A named user can have unlimited sessions if not restricted by CUL.
e.g you have 2 named user license. you created two users (say A & B). Once A is logged from a machine. Simultaneously, he can login from other computer as A itself. You would not be able to create more than 2 named users in this case.
    Concurrent license:
Specify the number of sessions that can connect to BusinessObjects Enterprise at the same time.
Each physical user can consume more than one session, for example the same user could use both the browser on a PC and a mobile Application on a mobile device. This would create 2 sessions for the same physical user.
Flexible since a small concurrent license can support a large user base (provided all of them don't login simultaneously ).
Read more, from following SAP Notes:
1285639 - What license types are available for Business Objects Enterprise?
1502152 - If Business Objects Enterprise is configured with only 1 Named User License or 1 Concurrent Active License what is the expected result?
    Hope this information helps.

  • Doubt about Professional Edition

    Hello,
I only need the Professional License for a year. Does Adobe delete my work from the stores after this year?

    Thanks!
So if I have, let's say, 200 downloads left (from a 10.000 folios pack) after signing down from the professional account, those would still be available to the public, wouldn't they?

  • The Single Edition DPS License is include in CC subscription?

As I told in title, i would like to know if the Single Edition License DPS is already included in CC subscription.
    TY.
    Enrico.

Yes, DPS Single Edition is included with Creative Cloud Complete Subscription and Creative Cloud for Teams Complete subscription.
Using this you can create unlimited Single Edition Apps for iPad and publish to App store.
Complete refers to a subscription plan which includes all CC products. For more refer to the buying guide: http://www.adobe.com/in/products/creativecloud/buying-guide.html

  • Single Edition Apps

Apologies for a newbie kind of question, but I'm wanting to know about publishing a single use app via our Adobe CC subscription.
The idea is a learning exercise to design + publish an app that I'd want to update fairly regularly - its tied to sports stats and infographics with interactivity, which I'd want to update through the season (at times every 1-2 weeks), but it could be 14 or so times in a year. Is this practical?
I would favour each update submitted to have fairly substantial additions each time as I want to give anyone who downloads it extra, new stuff each time… but do Apple get frustrated or tetchy about constant and/small updates to single edition apps? Do they critique stuff?
    The app would be FREE.
Also, if an update is accepted, do people who have downloaded a previous version get notified, or would I have to do this via Twitter or similar.
    Thanks.
    Craig

Thanks for the replies, Neil and Bob
I though this might be the case - I understand their reasons. Its almost like there needs to be an inbetween license for small publishers maybe, for non-commercial apps. Clearly what I want to do is beyond the single edition license, but the cost of the other license types is simply beyond me.
However, I think I can still tackle it. What I have developing does have plenty of interactive content for users (certainly cpompared to some stuff I have seeen), but I may just have to prepare it all as more of a season's 'retrospective analysis', then submit it to Apple to avoid constant updates.
Above all, its a process of learning DPS - that's the main thing. Its really just starting to make its presence felt here in New Zealand, so its a pretty exciting product… especially for an old print dog liek me who needs some new tricks!
    Cheers guys.

From the license Administration --- Component tab, I found.

    DI-Server (DIS)                                                               28/07/08        -        12/08/08
    Compatibility License for AddOns                                    28/07/08        -        31/12/99

  • Some Single Edition and Single Folio Questions

    Hi all,
First of all, sorry about my english, is not as good as I'd like.
I've some questions about single edition and single folio projects, the process is not too clear for me:
With single folio, is possible to protect access through user/password? If it's possible... what's the way to get it working?
How many time does adobe need to give you the IPA file for the appstore when you work with a sigle folio project?
I've read with single edition you can't update your app, so if you publish in the App Store a book, and you find some mistakes... how can you solve them? Is possible to solve them buying another license or you need to load an complete new app?
    Thanks in advance,
    Marcos González.

    Joe,
ALL of your questions were already asked and answered (some of them more than once) on this forum. You should try some searching first.  No offence, but Bob (and the other Bob as well) are really working hard answering tons of questions coming in every day.
I think I can answer this one:
"How many Single Edition can I purchase? I have 16 small brochures for one client to publish to Apple's App Store."
Having 16 brochures to publish, it would be unwise to buy 16 SE codes for$395 each. Buying  Professional Edition for one year (12x $495) would spare you $1200, and give possibility to publish even 1000 small brochures during the period.
    Cheers,
    Tomek

  • Single Edition and update

How many update i can upload with single edition?

One limitation not mentioned here, however, is that the serial number associated with a Single Edition license expires after a year. The license only allows you to build (and update) your application for a one-year period. After a year, you need to either subscribe to Creative Cloud (which will entitle you to build an unlimited number of Single Edition applications as you're a subscriber) or purchase a new serial number through the Adobe Store. Hint: The cost of a Single Edition serial number is $395 whereas the cost of a subscription to Creative Cloud is $49.99/month (with a 40% discount if you're upgrading from Creative Suite).

  • Single Edition purchase conditions

    Hi,
I have a doubt regarding Single Edition. If I were to buy the Single Edition and then I designed a free magazine (let´s call it "Example"):
    - Can I update a .folio on the first month, later on delete it and then update a new edition ("Example 2")?
    -  How many downloads does Single Edition support?
I read a few posts about this sobject but couln´t clear my doubts.
    Thanks

Hi Bob -- I have a related question. I'm at the point of sending my single edition app to iTunes. I've done this 4 times before, no problem, following the Publishing Guide and Apple instructions. This time I tried to get a NEW Apple ID for the app and the Bundle seed ID pulldown only allowed me to pick Team leader (my Apple ID) or one of the strings I've already used, NOT "Generate New." I used the former, (my ID) but since I had used that before, the iTunes store rejected it. I have a trouble ticket in with Apple, but time is marching on without a response, and I wondered if you or others have hit this snag before??? It doesn't match anything in the DPS instructions. Since I used that unacceptable identifer when generating the Adobe parts, including downloading the .ipa, when I finally get a new Bundle seed ID from Apple, will DPS allow me to generate another one with the same single-edition serial number? Your advice much appreciated, Beth

  • Single edition licence for iPhone, Android, Blackberry.....

As a smaller developer in it would be very useful to offer single edition licenses for a wide range of other devices. Moving up to the Pro Edition is quite a jump when you are first starting out and you can't prove a financial justification for the yearly payment of 4k plus.
There must be others like us who are starting to develop apps and need an initial soft financial start before taking a bolder step.

I definitely agree. More than anything, I wish I understood the discrepancy. Can anybody explain why it is relatively free to produce Apple apps (provided you're a CC member) but it costs $500/month to produce Android apps? The software to build them is the exact same, and the Apple apps actually have more functionality (in regards to the Folio Overlays that are not supported in droids, etc). I've been using DPS to great success to build some apps for my company, and they want to know why I can only build them for the iPad and not any other tablet.
Frankly, I'd like to know the same thing! Is there anyone out there who knows why there's such a monetary gap between these two seemingly identical tools? Or, better question, does anybody have a solution to converting an iapp into a tablet format that is less expensive?
    Thanks -

  • DPS Single Edition - Wrong builder ID, how to fix it?

    Hello all,
We design a quarterly magazine, and we´re using a dps single edition license to have it available to the readers as an iPad independent app, for each edition.
We were doing our second edition, and by error, on the Viewer Builder on the provisioning step we used the old mobileprovision files from the first edition (with the old bundle id).
The result is easy to find out - the app created on the DPS Viewer Builder (and signed with the old provisioning files) is not correct when compared with the one prepared on iTunes Connect for this second edition, and we only noticed that when we were trying to submit the app with the Apple´s Application Loader.
So my question is easy: how can we edit our mag on viewer builder and change for the new provisioning files (we need to use a new bundle id because the second edition is not an upgrade but a new app) on the without buying and new DPS Single Edition License (please mind that when we edit it we can use new provisioning files but they should keep the same mobile provision id or else we get the following error "Bundle ID inside the mobileprovision does not match the bundle ID used for the build").
    Thanks!
    Mario

Hi Bob, thank you for your reply.
Re-creating the file unfortunately doesn´t solve my problem:
    1) if I edit the app on the viewer and replace the provisioning files (now with the correct bundle id) I get "Bundle ID inside mobileprovision does not match the bundle ID used for build (which was xxx.xxxxx.xxx)" , which makes sense because I´ve used first the wrong ones (and that´s why I´m in deep trouble and unable to upload it to Apple)
    2) if I create a new app, even with the same name, at the end it asks for the Single Edition serial number to activate, and if I use the one that I´ve bought, I get "Serial number already redeemed".
If there isn´t any other solution (all ideas are welcome)  I´ll contact tech support from Adobe in order to reset my Serial number (or something similar) because we can´t afford to buy another serial without using first the one we have paid for.
    Thanks
    Mario

  • DPS Single Edition - what if Apple rejects your app?

If you pay for a single edition license and Apple rejects your application after viewing, where do you stand with Adobe?
Are you able to make the changes needed to the app, then rebuild and re-submit?
Is it like a professional, or enterprise edition where you can amend and fine tune your app (through builds and rebuilds) until it is perfect within Viewer Builder - but you're just limited to the one viewer app?
    Thanks

    Thanks Bob.
I haven't got any problems, this is just hypothetical at the moment.
Is there a limit to the amount of changes I want to make? Say I have built my folio, zipped it and placed it in the app in viewer builder. I see a couple of minor errors, so need to re-zip the folio and rebuild the viewer. Then I want to add another section (which requires another rebuild). Is that all doable? I'm just talking from real-life experience of digital publication development - I don't think our first viewer build has ever been the one we've pushed to Apple.
