Hai,
What is SAP EP?
Is it a technical or functional module?
is there any scope for SAP EP?
Is ABAP knowledge useful for SAP EP?
What does an SAP EP consultant do?
Please help me by answering my above doubts....
Paul.Purpose of SAP EP is this. The portal offers a single point of access to SAP and non-SAP information sources, enterprise applications, information repositories, databases and services in and outside your organizationall integrated into a single user experience. It provides you the tools to manage and analyze this knowledge, and to share and collaborate on the basis of it.
With its role-based content, and personalization features, the portal enables usersfrom employees and customers to partners and suppliersto focus exclusively on data relevant to daily decision-making processes.
It can be functional, setting up the roles and IViews, but it can also be technical like installing the Portal.
ABAP is not useful for EP itself, but it can be useful when creating Web Dynpro ABAP applications which can be displayed in the portal. Also, if you are going to use Web Dynpro Java to develop web based applications and access the backend via RFC, ABAP is very useful as well.

Unable to logon on SAP E-sourcing 5.1
Hi,
Unable to logon on E-sourcing 5.1 with 'enterprise' user id, error "Entry does not exist"
Background:
1. We have installed SAP E-sourcing 5.1 on Netweaver platform.
2. Cretaed Enterprise context (example 'acme1') using 'system' user id and assigned "System Default Cluster" and mainatined password which I remeber.
3. First time I'm able to logon using 'enterprise' user id and able to configure, change, save atc.
4. How wvere, when I logged off and try to login agin using same user id & passwords as followed in step3 above, error "Entry does not exist" is displayed.
5. I tried again by creating new context (example 'acme2'), before doing this I removed the assignment of "System Default Cluster" to earlier created context i.e. 'acme1' and assigned the same to 'acme2'
6.Found the same error when I tried to login using same user id (enterprise) & password which I maintained for newly created context.
Do not know the exact issue. Pls help me or give me some clue.
Thanks,
HariHi,
I got it. incorrect "Host Name" was entered in cluster configuration.
After correcting this, I'm able to login now and hence I'm closing this question.
Thanks,

DS - SAP BW Source clarifications
Hi
I have to connect to a SAP BW source and want to load a BW OLAP cube. In reading the DS Tech. documentation, it says SAP BW source would be similar to reading from a ERP source i.e., use a R/3 dataflow and generate the ABAP and do the extraction.
My question is
1) Can DS load the data directly from the BW cube ? (i.e can it leverage the BW accelarators that is used for reporting)
(or)
2) Using a DS SAP BW source provides only access to how the BW is organized and DS can load only from the underlying tables and not from the cubes directly. To actually load any data, you would have to write a join with my fact table and dimension tables to get the actual dimension value names and fact data into the ETL process
Option 2) is my understanding of how DS works with BW correct ? If my assumption is not correct, can u clarify how to use the BW cubes directly within DS. Are there any additional documentation surrounding this ? Any implementation experience that you can share
Thanks
DineshWith DS 12.2 you will be able to use SAP BW's OpenHub Interface as well to consume the cube data with DS. But that SAP BI provided interface has its own limitations, e.g. no BEX Queries can be used as source, keep that in mind. For the majority of the cases it will be the best solution however.

Error (WIS 10901) while creating a webi report against SAP data source
Hi,
While creating a webi report against a universe created using Infocube/Bex query (basically SAP data source) get a error message -
A database error occured. The database error text is: A runtime exception has occured. (License key check failed. Check that you are licensed to access SAP data sources). (WIS 10901).
Any clues whether this is a license issue or something else?
Thanks,

I am having the same problem. I checked and double checked everything, including deleting and recreating the Universe and the Connection. No improvement. On a whim, I deleted the hierarchy from the query on which the Universe was based, and recreated the Universe on the query without the hierarchy. The problem went away.
Now, the question is, why do I get the WIS 10901 error when a hierarchy is present in the query/Universe? -

How to select from multiple output tables in the SAP Data Source
Hi,
We're using the SAP Data Source to display SAP data in our portal from the Bapi: BAPI_INFORECORD_GETLIST. When defining the Bapi Meta Data we can select data from one of the two output tables (INFORECORD_GENERAL and INFORECORD_PURCHORG). But we want to select data from both tables (some columns we want to show are in INFORECORD_GENERAL and some are in INFORECORD_PURCHORG) .
How can we do this ?
With regards,
Ramon van der WeidenYou can query multiple TimesTen databases, but your original question was about joining tables from two databases, which is not supported.
Using Cache Connect to Oracle to query an Oracle database is not distributed. It's still one single Oracle database you are querying. You cannot join a table in the TimesTen database with a table in the Oracle database, this is not allowed.
If you are willing to share your business requiremens, we can take a look and see what solution might work for you. Would you like to discuss this offline?

SAP Data Source for OmniPortlet available for download
What are we Announcing ?
The beta release of SAP Data Source for OmniPortlet.
SAP data source for OmniPortlet makes it easier than ever before to integrate SAP R/3 systems with Oracle Application Server(OracleAS) Portal. With the new SAP data source, one can easily build SAP portlets including search for BAPI Function Modules and Business Objects, configuration of appropriate input and output parameters, filteration criteria, desired views and layouts, portlet personalization, and even portlet-to-portlet communication using parameters and events.
How can I use it?
SAP Data Source is a plugin data source for OmniPortlet. You can connect to any SAP R/3 server and declaratively build SAP portlets with ease. In addition to all the basic features of OmniPortlet, SAP data source leverages OracleAS Portal External Application for secure access to the SAP R/3 instance. SAP data source comes as a zip file, with very simple steps to configure. Learn more about this data source from http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/PDKRELEASE2/PDKHOME902/SAMPLES/SOLUTIONS/UPLOADAREA/SAPDS/VIEWLET/SAP_DS_VIEWLET_JAN05_VIEWLET_SWF.HTML
How do I get it?
This data source is available through the Portal Integration Solutions page on Portal Studio. You would be asked to enter your OTN user details to download the data source.
Portal Integrations Page: http://portalstudio.oracle.com/servlet/page?_pageid=3191&_dad=ops&_schema=OPSTUDIO

Skill set requirements for SAP E-Sourcing and CLM
Dear All,
We are about to implement SAP-E-Sourcing 5.1 and CLM 2.0 (on Netweaver Platform). What are the skill sets required to support and do enhancement and customization to this solution?.
Thanks in advance.

veluHi Velu -
E-Sourcing technical consultants will require SQL skills if you are developing custom reports. The E-Sourcing query and reporting tools utilize "annotated" SQL statements the result in a SQL query being executed against the relational database. It is also useful for the report developer to have skills specific to the DBMS being used (for example, Oracle skills) - often times, using DBMS specific SQL constructs can provide improved reporting.
E-Sourcing has a feature called "scripting" that allows custom business logic to be included in the application and executed at various "call-out" points. The scripting feature provided by E-Sourcing uses a technology called BeanShell (see www.beanshell.org for more details on this technology). Beanshell development really requires strong programming skills using Java, although some components of BeanShell may be more like JavaScript. Regardless, I recommend Java expertise for writing E-Sourcing scripts. Knowledge of HTML is not required.
The E-Sourcing workflow capabilities also utilize BeanShell, so if you plan to implement any workflows, you will also require such technical skills.
Many other features of E-Sourcing such as user interface customization can be done with less technical individuals. Programming is not required.
Hope this is helpful.

Oracle BI Apps with SAP data sources
What is the delivered content provided by Oracle BI Apps to map with SAP data sources?
Thank you!As things stand right now SAP R3 is only supported on a much older release of BI Apps (7.8.4). That release used the Informatica SAP PowerConnect technology to populate the Warehouse.
I posted before on this forum the list of supported SAP Modules.
BI Apps cannot use SAP BW. BW can be a direct data source for BI EE however.
In the near future our support for SAP will be up to date and back on track. There are internal efforts underway that I cannot discuss here in the forum. -
