Doubts in transportations?

Hello All
Having some doubts in transportations?
1)Does functional module level configuration come under workbench request or customizing request?
2) Under One request how many tasks can be placed?

So that you can differentiate between global changes to the system and client-specific Customizing settings, the CTS records your changes in either a Workbench request or a Customizing request:
Workbench Requests
When you change a Repository object of the ABAP Workbench, a query window appears in which you need to specify a Workbench request. You can only save the changes if you have assigned the object to a change request.
Workbench requests and the tasks assigned to them are normally used to record changes to Repository objects and Customizing for all clients. However, you can also include client-specific Customizing.
Whether the changes to Repository objects are transported depends on whether a transport route is defined from the current SAP System for the package of these objects. From the system settings, the system automatically determines whether the change requests are transportable and to which target system they should be transported.
Customizing requests
Customizing requests record client-specific Customizing settings made in a single client (the source client of the request).
Automatic recording of configuration activities in the Customizing work for a client can be activated or deactivated for each client with Client Control. If automatic recording is active, a query window appears when you change Customizing settings, asking you to specify a Customizing request.
Whether Customizing requests are transported or not, does not depend on the objects entered, as is the case with Workbench change requests. The Customizing requests in an SAP System (or in a client if you use Extended Transport Control) are either all transportable or all local, depending on the system setting. The system uses the standard transport layer to determine automatically whether the change requests are transportable and to which target system they should be transported. However, you can change this manually.

  • Doubt in Transport Request

    Dear Gurus,
I have one doubt in transport. My production system has gone live 2 years. Everything is woriking fine. Now in my source system side, they want to increase length for 3 objects (Length 8 to 10).
In development part, we have completed everything and now we are ready to transport. At the time of transport, whether we want to delete data in that 3 objects in production or it will enhance without giving any trouble?
In that 3 objects, 2 objects having alpha conversion.
    Kindly provide your inputs.
    Regards,
    Vivek.V

    Hi,
For the ones having conversion routine, you shouldn't face any problems. For the one that dosen't it'll basically start pulling data with the modified lengths from the day it goes into Production with the new lenths, but for the already existing data, it won't change the lenghts. If you want to have the existing data with the new lengths, then you need to back out and reload.
Also, your transport from Dev to Prod might take time depending on the volume of that you currently have in those info objects.
    Cheers,
    Kedar

  • Very basic doubt regarding transporting abap developments

    Hi All,
It may be very basic doubt, But I need an answer.
If we develop some objects in the development and transported them to quality and for some reason some errors occured and the for correction of the errors we created some more requests and ported them to Quality.
the number of requests are say more than 15. and if we lost track of sequece of the requests to be ported to production.
How can we overcome this problem?
Can we create a new transport request by right clicking the package (of course all the objects are in only one package) , this will solve the purpose. I mean to say if we transport this single request to quality then to production, all the things will get transported?
    Please give your valuable inputs..
    Thanks and Regards
    KK

    Hi All,
I really appreciate all your quick replys.
My question is if we create a new request from the package in SE80, can we leave the old requests,
That is if I transport a request say req 2 of domain for solving the dependency error of the previous request say req1 ( of data element ). and again transport req 1 after transporting req 2, this will solve the dependency problem. Like this if some dependency related issues are there and we lose track of sequence of request which needs to be transported, what could be the ideal solution?
So I mean to ask that if I create a new request for the package in SE80, will all the developments will be included in the request or do we need to follow the sequence only?
    Thanks and regards
    KK

  • Hi experts i have doubt in transports...................

    Hi,
There are two types of  SLD's  one is centralized and decentralized so for which we need transports and how to transport the sld objects
    Thanks in advance
    Ram vijay

    Hi RAM,
On which version of PI you are working on?
1)If you are using PI 7.1 there is an option to configure SLD synchronization [LINK|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e5e7cc9b-0501-0010-adb2-ffbe7f1f7e6f?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true]
    2) If you are using PI 7.0 and need to transport your business systems then you need to create a transport group in the transport tabin such a way
                    DEV> QAS>PRD
For Dev system create QAS as target gorup
For QAS system PRD as target group and DEV as source group
then you would be able to transport your Business systems across your landscape.
    Thanks.

  • Doubt regarding Transporting Design Objects

    Hi all,
While transporting the design objects from DEV to QAS, iam doing in the following way
    1) i am doing transport Namespace wise individually and exported one by one. These all interfaces involved with IDOCs
    2) When i import into Quality Design, i am not able to see the  IDOCs under Imported Objects.
    How to proceed further??

    Hello Arpil,
Now to itroduce this SWC dependencies is too late for le, because we have UK & North America objects also.
If i introduce this Dependencies concept now, i have to change for those UK & North America things too.
Is there any other way for this??
Importing the IDOC Definition again ???

  • Doubts : Regarding Transportation

    Hi XI Gurus,
I want to know more about Transportation mechamism of XI.
As per my knowledge one is File system based(a lot of manual work ::( another one is CMS.
    1. Pros and Cons of File System/CMS Transport ?
    2. For Transporting IR and ID Objects above two mechamism is fine. But what about other objects used in a scenario :
       a) ABAP objects created in Application System like RFC/Report/RFC Destinations.
      b) Information of Business Systems/Tech Systems with SWCV in SLD ?
    Regards,

    Transporting Objects
    Hey
for FMS,suppose u have a BS called BS_File_IDOC_Dev which uses the IS of dev,now u create one more BS with the name BS_File_IDOC_Qa which uses the IS of QA,when u go in transport tab or BS_File_IDOC_dev u will find an option traget system, there u can give BS_File_IDOC_Qa,now when u move the objects from Dev to QA,u will automatically see the QA BS instead of Dev BS.this way u dont have to to change BS names manually in QA or Prd

  • Doubts while transporting objects into QA

    Hi,
I has completed the Development and need to transport it to Quality.
Here i has written 4 UDFs based on the conditions on Mapping.
Could you please let me know while transporting the objects from DEV to QA ...shall i need to take extra care on UDFs.
Pls let me know the process if i really need to transport UDF's also into QA system.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Y.Raj.

    Hi,
In addition to the functional implementation like mapping hard-coded values specfic to landscape, you must take an extra care on the following scenarios
    1. If you are implementing any RFC look up - connection parameters may change
    2. If you use value mapping - value group names may change
    3. Enhanced receiver determination - receiver business system names may change
No extra care is needed if its a simple code that maps fields without expecting any runtime variations.
    Thanks,
    Karthik

  • Doubt in Transport Route

I have installed a SAP System with DEV, QA and PROD in Windows Server + MS SQL Database
The Transport tool has been configured as DEV> QA> PROD
    The TRANSDIR =//<DEV Server name>/sapmnt/trans
The Domain Controller is DEV System.
The DIR_TRANS in DEV System is //<Dev Server name>/sapmnt/trans
The DIR_TRANS in QA System is //<QA Server name>/sapmnt/trans
The DIR_TRANS in PROD System is //<PROD Server name>/sapmnt/trans
When i release a transport in DEV system the data file and co-file are created in the Trans directory of the DEV System
When i release a transport in QAS system the data file and co-file are created in the Trans directory of the QAS System
When i release a transport in PROD system the data file and co-file are created in the Trans directory of the PROD System
But i wanted to make the settings such that when a TR is release from DEV or QA or PROD the data file and co file should be created in TRANS directory of DEV System only
Please let me knwo of what settings has to be made for the same

    You did:
The DIR_TRANS in DEV System is //<Dev Server name>/sapmnt/trans
The DIR_TRANS in QA System is //<QA Server name>/sapmnt/trans
The DIR_TRANS in PROD System is //<PROD Server name>/sapmnt/trans
    You should do:
The DIR_TRANS in DEV System is //<common server>/sapmnt/trans
The DIR_TRANS in QA System is //<common server>/sapmnt/trans
The DIR_TRANS in PROD System is //<common server>/sapmnt/trans
where <common server> can be any server, some people prefer prod since it is the most stable server. Other don't want to have this additional "burden" on the prod server and they take QA. It is your choice.

  • Doubt regarding transports

    Hi All,
I have replicated my datasources in 3.x in BWP,When I am transporting my transformations to BWP from BWV will system automatically migrate DS to 7 ? or  shall I have to migrate it manually ??
    Regards
      KK

    Hi KK,
No problem there, meaning no local migration needed.
    Just transport the R/3 datasources.
While replicating on the target system (R/3 prod) just choose "datasource" for the migrated sources. (I am even not sure whether the system will still ask, I cannot remember)
The BI content transport will handle the rest.
Please beware of possible transport errors with message RSO296 for migrated datasources. This message can be ignored, the objects are transported ok.
    More details in note 987480.

  • What is the difference between Bex transportation and Normal Transportation

    Hi experts,
I have doubt with Transporting queries , in this I've used the normal transport (truck icon) rather than Bex Transport. I would like to know which is the preferable one and what is the main difference between them.
Suggest me if I can go for normal Transportation rather than Ibex transport, as I've  not tried Bex transportation before.
Give me some valuable inputs please.......
    Regards
    Kumar

    Hi Kumar,
We have a Bex transport because we may make changes in the query very often and these changes will be automatically taken care by Bex transports.
Generally this is how it goes.
You will capture the queries by creating a transport request and immediately you will create a Bex transport request and  you have to assign the previously created transport request number to this Bex transport request, so that everytime you make changes to the query will be taken care by the Bex transport.
You can even create a Bex transport request individually.
Hope this tip may be useful.
Assign points if you find useful
    Thanks

I have a doubt about transporting local WF's to QA environment. We're trying to transport a WF with some local WF's and we're having some problems with this. Is there a special consideration working with local WF's or is there the same procedure a a single one?.
