I do have some doubts on time manageents consepts like
1. what is Time manager's workplace ( TMW )
2.what is cost assignments and activity allocation
And in Authorizations :
1. what is the general authorization checks
2. what is the Authorization objects? what is usage of this objects?
3. what is structural authorization? when do we use this structure?
in Reports part
1. what is the differents between SAP query and Ad hoc query?
2 what are all the HR reporting methods?

In TMW, the manager can do the following activities for the employees like daily work schedules, suntitutions, overtime, etc

Cost center assignments are used for payroll. Generally its is used for profit accountability. Through this top level management can know the profit for the project, dept etc through the cost center. Its assigened in Infotype Org. Assignment (IT0001). If an employee working in different departments or projects use in IT Cost Distribution (IT0027).
Generally authorization is used for security purpose. Structural Authorization used for Organizational Management (T Code OOSP) and the general authorization used for USERS in terms of T Codes.

Report Painter - Hide library and report instead of deleting

Good Afternoon Everyone,
My finance users are pressuring me to clean up the navigation in the GRR3 report painter transaction. Many of the libraries that are displayed are standard SAP libraries and I'm hesitant to begin deleting standard SAP libraries, reports, and report groups since you can't get those back once deleted. Is there a possibility to hide libraries/reports that are not being used any longer? I'm on my own and would like your input about what the best practice is when faced with this scenario. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi,
I don't know if its possible to suppress/hide libraries/reports.
Create T-codes for the reports the users really need and add the reports to the corresponding area menu in SAP. Thus users don't have a need to use GRR3 anymore, remove the T-code from the authorization concept.

BW 3.5: flexible Authorizations for reporting

Hi Experts,
I am looking for a solution for flexible reporting authorizations.
The background:
There are lots for Profit Centers in our system. Currently, we have created lots of Roles/Profiles which include fix values defined to limit access for users. The maintenace effort is getting higher and higher.
I heard there could be a flexible solution to use BEX variable typed Authorization and the authorization values can be determined via BEx user exit. Finally, I need only one profile for all users. But I don't know how to implement this flexible solution.
If anyone out there could share the knowledge it would be great.

First make the info object authorization relevant in the business explorer tab of the info object.
Plz follow the below steps:
1. Goto RSECADMIN tcode to create analysis authorization object for Profit centre
2. Click on Maintenance
3. Give a name and click on create
4. Give the info object name as profit centre under char/ dimension
5. double click on info object profit centre or click on details
6. Under value authoriztion tab, give the variable name. (The variable name should start with $ symbol ex $test).
Write the logic for the customer exit variable in the function module EXIT_SAPLRRBR_001 inside of enhancement RSR0001 via tcode CMOD.A variable of processing type authorization reads the values from authorizations of a user. A variable of processing type customer exit reads the variable values using a selection routine placed in the function module.
Assign the authorization object to all the user instead of creating new profile with the hard coded values.
The advantage of this method is that you can give all users the same authorization by placing the variable name with a $ sign in front of it instead of a value in the characteristic value (or the hierarchy node).
The variable can also of course be used in the query, but this is not absolutely necessary. You can also filter using another variable or with fixed value restrictions in the query.

Query problem - authorization and user entry variable as filter

hi,
I made two variables for the characteristic 0COMP_CODE.
The first variable is a user entry variable for the selection.
The second variable is my authorization variable with multiple single values.
This two variables are defined as filter in the query.
The problem is as follows:
A user is authorized to see the data from three companies. For example companies 1, 2 and 3.
Now he enters on the selection for the 0COMP_CODE the value 2 to see only the data of this company. The query result gets me confused. It shows all data of the companies 2 and others. It basicly shows more companies than he has selected.
Other companies of the authorization variable are shown.
It works if the user has the authorization over all companies.
Did someone has the same problem?

Hi Pascal,
this is an issue. The main problem is that you just can't influence via the exit for a vairable "ready for input".
What could be done is define a dummy element (hidden in the final display) in your query like a restricted KeyFigure to a variable based on COMP_CODE; let's say VAR1 ready for input.
You char COMP_CODE would then be filtered by a variable not ready for input processed by user exit, VAR2.
The exit would ready VAR1. If there any value complying with the authorized one then populate VAR2 with it, otherwise remove it (you could use STEP_3 to raise a message "you aren't authorized to use comp_code XYZ" and return to the initial variable screen). If VAR1 is empty, then populate VAR2 wit all corresponding aithorized values.
The main issue is that
1- this is bypassing the standard functionality of authorization variables
2- any report would have to be designed like that!
What we have done is to add nav_attr / and added more IObjs in the InfoProviders related to 0COMP_CODE reflecting a country, region or any other group of comp_code authorization and then have based our authorizations on those nav....

Authorization in Reporting

Hi,
I have the following problem when executing BW queries.
A user is responsible for a country. Country is an authorization relevant characteristic. The user is able to see the sales ONLY in his own country.
The same user is responsible for a product, so I would like him to see the sales of his product across all countries. I thought about setting product as authorization relevant but then he will see only the sales of his product in his country.
The reports are supposed to come from the same Infocube. I guess that there is a way to allow this organizational requirements.
Any help will be greatly appreciated and rewarded.

Hi,
Create a copy cube from the first cube. On the first cube give the user country authorizations and on the second cube product authorizations.
Create one role for country authorization and another role for product authorization.
On the second infocube remove the authorization check for the InfoProvider for Country Authorization object. Create authorization object for Product.
Assign both the roles to the user.
This is an overhead of maintaining one more InfoCube...but...

If just some of the tracks on the album are doing that, that suggests those tracks are damaged.

Copy data models and reports from BW 3.1 to NW 2004s

Our client has two BW servers: BW 3.1 and BI 7. BW 3.1 contains lots of data models and reports. And the BI 7 server is newly installed.
Now we want to copy these data models and reports from BW 3.1 to the new BI 7 server. Are there any solutions for this?

Hi Frank,
Sounds like a cross version transport is needed.
This is a solution we have used to do what you want to do:-
Create and release a transport as per normal.
Copy and transport the files from the source system (BW 3.1) e.g /usr/sap/trans/data & /usr/sap/trans/cofiles to the same folders on the target system.
Basis help is needed here.
From here onwards using stms_import should help you in the normal manner.
Works a treat.
Have transported the following all correctly appearing as 3.x data models in NW2004s.
DSO objects.
Cubes
Transfer/Update rules
Reports.

Let me ask you one base Question, On which area are you working? Are you from functional side or Technical side (Developement or Basis guy)?
This is very clear cut answer that with the restricted autorization you can protect table and programs. Do not provide the change autorization.
CATCH your BASIS guy and he will do rest of the things. Just explain him what are you want to protect.

Now if you are upgrading to FORMS5 then you need to rename the
INP file to FMB and then run it through the genarator

1)Is it possible to migrate only the forms and reports in 4,5 to 9i without the designer repository?Can the repository be left out?

Wrong folder and report sorting

We installed BO XI R2 SP4. Folder and report sorting is incorrect. How to fix that?

we just started our mirgation from 6.5 to XI
so BO XI SP4 on .NET is our first XI installation.
Sort order is incorrect for both folders and objects
and for both asc and desc orders.
Most of folders/objects are sorted correctly but several of them are out of order.
Examples:

hi user ...
on windows there are some steps in front of installation and configuration.
1) cleare the Windows Env (Path .. Programme x86 )
no Blank in Path and so on
2) insert into your local host file your server and IP Adress
3) in Windows 32 setup of WLS is JDK included so you don't have to install the jdk in front of WLS
4) verify if you are using the right installation medium (jdk 32 bit, wls 32 bit , fmw 32 bit
in your OraInventory/logs directory is a *.out file for your installation please can you put this file in the forum
is there a nodemanager up and running (if so please stop)

Migration MS ACCESS FORMS and Reports to Oracle (Java or Forms or Reports)

Hello ,
can someone tell me, how i can migrate a whole MS ACCESS 2000 mdb (with forms and Reports) to Oracle.
I think i have first migrate the Access DB with the OMWB to Oracle and in the next Step to convert the VBA Code to JAVA or Forms9i.
BUT Is there a tool available for Migrating VBA code like the OMWB ????

I don't know if this is an obvious question, but do you have MS Access 2k installed on the machine you are trying to run this from? I'm assuming yes.
If you do and there is still a problem, you should log a ticket for support who will take your mdb and help out with the issue for you.
