Dowlnoading Folders from sky drive Help!

Sorry to all in this post has been asked
Due ,to the inability of the Nokia 800 to create photo albums and organise photos
The two options to use were Zune " No access to PC "
Or use skydrive
We have  unlimited data so spent all day trying to use and  looking for help on the Internet
 The Simple task is
Downloaded and set up Skydrive on phone
Task is to create  and name albums  then  download these photo albums back to phone to view off line  once this is done then delete from skydrive.
Basically using Sky Drive to upload and organise photos
 a) I have created 6 folders and named them  on sky drive  OK
 b) I have then uploaded photos into folders, all  6 now complete with photos in skydrive OK
c I have pressed refresh and there is now a folder on phone in the skydrive  albums with these 6 albums
but i can only see them when on line and what i need i to do is to make sure the are on my phone and can not be delleted.
How do i dowload these albums to my phone  so they are albums BUT not in Skydrive Album
I have tried to do it by folder  no option
I have then trie to do single picture when the option to dowload to phone is ticked it puts it in saved pictures
There must be a way to do this   ??
Any help please I am spending days try to help this person edit photos what used to be a simple task on her C3
Before you say i bought the wrong phone she wanted to stick with Nokia  !!!!
Nokia 701 Helping with Lumia 800

The C3 is not an internet centric phone, it is a featurephone with Internet access. Windows Phone is an OS built around the Internet and it uses it extensively. On more then one occasion I have tried to explain to you that this is not only how Windows Phone works, it is also the way you will see the rest of the world work not very long from now.
Windows Phone basically needs constant access to the internet to be properly used. For me, I would never be able to manage and keep all the media and information on my phone and keep it up to date if it weren't for the way WP works.I donot need to keep all those pictures, videos and music on my phone, but it's always all there wherever I am.
It takes a different mindset to #switchtolumia really. You are trying to make it work like a C3 which it won't.

  • HELP! Cant import folders from ext drive to itunes

I've recently had problems with my PC so, decided to copy all the stuff from my 60gig iPod to my external hard drive. I uninstalled iTunes then reinstalled it & tried to copy the folders from my ext drive back into itunes but, it's not moving them all. A number of folders exist with the name of the band & these seem to be ok - they look like typical folders in a windows explorer view. There is a shaded folder called "music" which when opened then contains more shaded folders with the folder names of "F00, F01" etc. These folders will not import to itunes no matter what I do. I have tried to "import folder" but it doesn't work, I have tried to move the folders back to my C drive but itunes doesn't recognise them. I have updated the "advanced" tab in the preferences to my ext drive / pointed to the folder "music" but, it still doesn't import the files. Can anyone help or offer some suggestions please? I'm really hacked off by this as I cant sync my iPod up as I'll lose everything on it. thank you!!!

You are not the only one... Several threads exist on this topic - iTunes refusing to import (all) files from folders - but no solution yet it seems, and Apple is not responding at all...

  • Move Users folders from external drive to a new internal drive

    Hi All,
I have a white Intel iMac running Snow Leopard. I have kept the Users folder (4 users) on an external hard disk (too many photos and movies). The internal hard disk recently died, but since all user data was on the external, I wasn't too worried.
The iMac now has a new hard disk, and I've installed the system back, starting from the original System Install DVD so that all the iApps are also reinstalled.
What I want to do now is to move the user folders to the internal drive, and use the external for backups. It seems that I can't use Migration Assistant because it only works when moving data from another Mac or another startup drive. I've looked around the forums and on the web, and the only thing I found was a post on TUAW in which the writer talked about eventually having to do this but without giving much info about how to do it (http://www.tuaw.com/2009/05/14/tuaw-tip-moving-your-home-folder-to-another-disk- or-moving-it).
Does anyone have any experience moving the user folders from an external drive to an internal drive, (or even just having a Mac recognize user folders on an external drive from another machine)?

Thanks, but that site doesn't have a clear answer.
Correct. As it clearly states, there are too many variables to have detailed solutions for every possible situation.
In the 'pink' box, which best matches my situation, the instructions begin with: "•You must be logged on to the account being moved...".
That's not clear at all. How do I log in to an account that doesn't exist yet? Connecting a hard disk that has a home folder to a new Mac doesn't allow me to 'log on' to that home folder's account, because it doesn't yet exist on the new Mac.
You may have to set up user accounts "from scratch." Then change the ownership and permissions on the old home folders so you can copy the contents of the sub-folders from the old home folders to the new ones.
If you're comfortable with permissions and Terminal, this may help: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20013630-263.html

  • How to retain folders from External drive on the sidebar?

I dragged some folders from my external hard drive that I regularly use when I am in the office.
Sometimes I take my MBP out without the external drives. I realize that these aliases I had created on the sidebar disappears.
When I connect up to my external drive again, I have to drag these same folders again into the sidebar.
Is there a way I can keep these external folders on the sidebar, without creating a real alias on my hard drive and copying that onto the sidebar?
    Thanks!

Oh well. It would have been nice to have the sidebar folders greyed out instead until you plug the drives back in...

  • Cannot Delete Folders from USB drive connected to Airport Extreme

When I try to delete files from the usb drive connected to my airport I get "cannot remove folder, the directory is not empty.
This only happens for some of the folders that are empty. No problem deleting any files whether they were created before or after I setup the airport. The folders that won't delete were created after I hooked up the drive to the airport however, I can make new folders and delete them no problem now. The ones that don't delete say "read only" in the properties. when I uncheck read only it reverts back to read only automatically.
Any ideas what might be causing this?

Tried what you suggested last night - no change. What is odd, though, is that I can create a new folder on the external USB HDD (through the Hub) and copy a file into it. While I can then close Finder, re-open and see the Folder and file I copied, I still can't see all the data that is currently stored on the drive...Is this a delete and re-copy scenario?
    Thanks!

  • How can I move my address file and mail folders from one drive image to the active drive?

I have a drive with recovered data from a crashed drive. How do I import the Thunderbird address file to the new, current drive ( also the mail folders ) ?

Look at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_how-to-find-your-profile to locate your profile on the recovered disk.
If you are just starting TB with a new profile, the simplest thing to do would be to copy the recovered profile to the directory where your current profile is located. Then switch; see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles to switch to the other profile
If you have stuff in your current profile you need to save or merge, let me know and I will give you further instructions.

  • Time Machine Restore from eSATA drive - Help!!

Hello, I have an eSATA drive that I have used for my Time Machine backup. It worked great for partial restores of files etc. But my boot HD went down so now I have to do a complete restore. When I put in the Leopard DVD it does not recognize my eSATA drive RAID. I had to install a driver to use the RAID. Is there any way that I can get the Leopard DVD to install that driver and then restore everything from my eSATA drive? I have the driver on a USB thumb drive but other than the disk utility it is not recognized. Could I do this through the Terminal? I hope that someone can help me. I have Applecare but the information again it was on the original drive. Yes I could take it to an Apple store but that is four hours drive one way from here. Don't have a day to do that! Please help me!!

Time Machine full system restores only work if the backup disk doesn't need drivers separate from Mac OS X to mount. To make a long story short, you CAN'T do a full system restore with the disk your backups are on.

  • Dragging folders from external drive

    Hi
Can anyone help I have installed system X and updated it to 10.4.10 I also have my old system saved on an external drive and would like to know which files I can drag across, such as my photos in iPhoto, my tunes in iTunes and all book marks from Safari and so on?
    Thanks
    George

    Hi George,
Here is a list of where your important data is stored ("~" stands for "Home") You can drag these across and you'll be pretty much set up:
    Your data in ~/Documents
~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder)
    ~/Library/Application Support/iCal(copy the whole folder)
Also in ~/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need)
~ /Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder)
    ~/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder)
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist *This is a very important file which contains all email account settings and general mail preferences.
~ /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder)
~/Library/Application Support/Safari (copy the whole folder)
~/Library/Application Support/iMovie (copy the whole folder)
    ~/Pictures/iPhoto library
    ~/Music/iTunes
    ~/Movies/iMovie
    If you want cookies:
    ~/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist
    ~/Library/Application Support/Webfoundation/HTTPcookies.plist
    For Entourage users:
Entourage is in Documents/Microsoft user data
    Also in ~ /Library/Preferences/Microsoft
internet explorer favorites are in ~/Library/Preferences/Explorer/favorites.html
    -mj

*EDIT:" Most of the list got lost due to a formatting problem here. I'm going to try to reformat it and post later*

  • Deleteing files/folders from network drive

I have a USB drive connected in to my Airport Extreme and I have conifgured user level access accounts for this. The four the iMac G4, iMac G5, iBook and Powerbook are all able to copy and delete files/folders with no problems. My Windows Vista machine is able to copy files/folders but I am only able to delete folders when they contain no files or sub-folders - sadly I do not have access to the full message but it is related to not having the correct permissions.
The USB drive is Mac OS X Extended format as a Fat 32 format drive did not appear on the network (this was before the recent Airport update though).
Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so - do you know of a way around it?

    Guess it's just me
    Any ideas?

  • IPhoto '08 has deleted library folders from my iPhoto - help!

My iphoto '08 has twice deleted library folders and their contents from my iPhoto. I opened iPhoto and saw all the library folders, then the beachball of death popped up and then the folders vanished. Is there any way to get these folders and their contents back?

Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
    Regards
    TD

  • I've just moved all my iTunes folders from C drive to another drive (E), and all of a sudden I have no music in my iTunes. How do I get my music back all in one place?

I've tried importing the iTunes library file and it just doesn't seem to work. Help, please!

Hold down shift as you start iTunes, click Choose, then navigate to the iTunes folder on E:\. Should all get fixed.

  • Stubborn folders in FAT32 drive won't budge...

    Hi!
So i have a whole bunch of files on a 1TB external HDD formatted in FAT32, which were put there while using Windows. I have been copying files out of these folders for a while now, but there are a few stubborn folders which i cant delete. Finder asks me for my admin password, which i give, but it still doesn't budge. Also, some folders from this drive are in the trash and then say that i don't have enough permissions to permanently delete them....
    Grrrrrr...
    Any help would be great!
    Thanks

ok, I was wrong and you are right: FAT does support some (but not all) flags. according to this
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FileAllocation_Table#Directorytable
it supports hidden, read only and archive flags. the read only flag corresponds to the immutable flag but it seems that OS X can have problems with these flags due to the differences in the way HFS+ and FAT store those flags. I've seen plenty of posts and had a first hand experience when a read only flag set in windows was completely impossible to remove in os x. I spent a LOT of time trying to do it once and gave up eventually. Interestingly, I just tried it again with a FAT formatted thumb drive and I had no problems setting a read only flag in windows and removing it from OS X! conversely, I can set a uchg flag in OSX, it then shows up as a read only flag in windows and can be removed there without any issues. so I don't know what exactly is going on here.
P.S. I had the same experience with the hidden flag as you I can set it but it has no effect on finder. again, this is most likely due to some glitches in the way OS X interprets FAT flags.

Use the Organizer backup & restore method, starting the restore from the TLY file. Probably best to use a custom location as the XP file structure will be different. See this link for further help:
