Dowload Oracle 9i Solaris 64

Hi,
has anybody lately succesfully cpio'd the Disk1 file for Solaris64 Disk1 for Oracle 9.2.0.1.
I keep getting "cpio: Can't read input: end of file encountered prior to expected end of archive." which leads me to believe that the file is corrupt on technet (gunzip works fine). Disk2 & Disk3 work fine w/o errors

Same problem here.(32 bit version )
Not installing yet,
but the sizes are different.
Why issnt there a checksum for these disks?

  • Oracle into Solaris for Intel

Does the Oracle database for Solaris for SunSPARC, works into a
    Solaris for Intel?
Do you know, where I can download an Oracle for Solaris for
    Intel?
That Oracle database version is the only one, wich is not in the
    OTN download page.

I bought Sun Solaris 8 (Intel platform) from SUN - you just have to pay the media & shipping fees. Oracle 8i (for Intel Sun Solaris8) was included in the package .
Check on www.sun.com for more details.

  • Disk partitioning tool, to install oracle in solaris

I need to install oracle in solaris. Is there any version of solaris for intel processors.
Is there any free disk partioning tool availbale

The partitioning tool (fdisk) you need comes with OpenSolaris 10. First Download this free Operating System from sun.com. Then start the installation. You will be asked to partition your hard disk. The system automatically recognises Windows Installations and Linux Installations on the same disk. Windows Installations will be bootable after the Solaris Installation. Linux and Solaris is not able to use the same disk. Because they have the same boot loader/manager called GRUB and must make a different disk layout for this boot loader. But you can use Linux and Solaris on different disks.
Oracle 10.1 and 10.2 is available for Solaris x64. I strongly recommend to use the 64 Bit AMD64 version. Its a real fun and fast as hell. Supported Raid Controllers can be found at the Solaris driver discussion forum at www.opensolaris.org.

  • Question for using ORACLE with SOLARIS

    Hi Experts,
I have worked Oracle with Linux in one of my projects 2yrs back and i was just a developer, used to write SQL Query, Creating Table and Objects.
Now i got a question from TL which is
Tell me about consequences for using Oracle with Solaris?
I am not worked ORACLE with SOLARIS, Can some one give me the answer for this question with
    1. Difference between ORACLE with LINUX and ORACLE with SOLARIS.
    2. Advantages and Disadvantages Between ORACLE with LINUX and ORACLE with SOLARIS.
    Thanks,
    MuraliDharan V

    Hi MuraliDharan V,
    It would had been better if you had searched first;
    Here is one
Advantage for Linux64-bit Versus Solaris-x86_64 OS in RAC
And beside that your question is incomplete:
    -What Oracle? Database, etc
    -Which Version? 9i, 10g, etc
Aside from that a simple search on google might have answered your question as well.
But I think there is some new trend of dumping questions here before searching.

  • Installation and creation of first database in Oracle on Solaris 5.10

    hi all,
I have dug around and found that /etc/system is no longer used in solaris 10. i found that the command prctl is now envoked to setup the kernel parms.
    I have solaris 10 - oracle 10g - Intel Processor.
Can anyone point me in the right direction or provide me a link to the doc I need to setup correct kernel parms in my version of solaris and to get dbca to just create an intial database. I keep getting the oracle not available, shared memory, error messages on inital dbca creation of database and I know it is because of kernel parms not being set right. I have followed the instructions found under documentation here but it gives me argument errors when issuing:
    prctl -n project.max-sem-nsems -v 512 -r -i project default
All other params work fine and when I check them they show up as correct. The only doc I could find was for SPARC. I didnt know if this made a difference in setting the parms but I assume it does.
    Thanks.

We don't currently support migration from DB2 on the OS/390 platform. If you need a solution now, you might investigate a solution from one of our migration partners like Ispirer: http://www.ispirer.com/products/

  • Oracle RAC SOlaris 10 in Containers or in LDOMs

I want to run Oracle RAC in Solaris 10 containers or in Logical Domains. Is ORacle RAC supported in Containers or LDOMs? Has anyone experinece with these Oracle RAC environments?

I didn't see your system listed in the Solaris or OpenSolaris hardware compatibility list. It may very well be that it is not supported for Solaris. Check here to see: http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/search.jsp
You may also want to contact Sun and see if it is supported.
