Dowload problem in Application Manager
Hello,
my Name is Viviane. I have a problem. I have installed the Creative Cloud Application Manager and want to Install some app (Illustrator and InDesing for example). The Application Manager tell me that it´s a new version on my computer, but it isn't installed yet.
What can I do?

Problem updating Application Manager in CS6 D&W Premium
I just finished a clean installation of CS6 Design & Web Premium under WIndows 7 Enterprise 64-bit. I fired up Bridge, checked for updates, and allowed the update process to complete. I then fired up Adobe Application Manager (from the desktop icon) to confirm all updates had been applied, but it behaved as if it needed to update itself. For a second or two, it displayed a dialog about other instances of Application Manager running, but then that disappeared, and the installation continued. I encountered a UAC warning, which I allowed, and shortly thereafter, I was presented with a dialog stating that, "Adobe Application Manager failed to install." My only option at this point is to quit. Oddly enough, when Application Manager is invoked through checking for updates from a CS6 component (e.g. Bridge, Photoshop, etc.), there doesn't seem to be a problem. The issue only seems to arise when using Application Manager's desktop icon, or its shortcut under All Programs in the Start menu. Please advise how to correct this behavior.

Problems with Application Manager & PS
I downloaded the free trial about a week ago. Recently I installed a bunch of updates that came up, and now I'm having a bunch of problems.
1. I can't open any of the products through the application manager. If I want to open something, I have to find a file on our network that was created previously and open the program that way.
2. Photoshop freezes and/or crashes every 15 minutes or so. I followed the instructions in the CS6 GPU FAQ and set my preferences to Use Graphics Processor, which seemed to work pretty well, but PS won't save my preferences when I shut down. Is this just because it's the trial version?
3. Is there anything else I can do to limit freezes/crashes? My system meets the requirements for the install, so I'm not sure what else the problem could be.
Any help is appreciated!

Ajtidwell it is not expected that you would be able to open your Adobe Creative applications through the Adobe Application Manager. The launch experiences is only available after the initial install to allow you to test the functionality of the just installed program. Please use the method which is normal for your operating system to open the program.
The users in the Photoshop General Discussion maybe able to offer some suggestions for your second point in your post. -
Problems with application manager
Am having problems with the application manager. Cannot install, remove or update any applications. Get messages that application cannot be installed, cannot be updated, and if I try to uninstall application manager shuts down. Help would be appreciated.

Problem with Application Manager
I presently own Web and Design Premium CS6. My Adobe Application Manager is giving me access to install After Effects CS6, Premier Pro CS6, Audition CS6, Muse CS6, Speed Grade CS6, Prelude CS6, Edge Animate, Flash Builder and Touch App Plugins. The Application Manager also is giving me the option to install some programs that are already installed (Photoshop CS6, Illustrator CS6, Flash CS6, Acrobat X) but the other programs that are already installed with my version of CS6 (Dreameaver, Fireworks, InDesign) are shown as already installed. I am also given the options to install ALL CS6 applications on another computer that doesn't have any CS 6 applications installed (only has CS 5.5)...and isn't licensed to install any CS6 apps, either.
I don't understand any of this. I am definitely not a Cloud subscriber. I double-checked my account to be sure there was no foul up in that area.. I definitely have NO subscriptions to anything on Adobe. What's
going on?
ChickWell, there is never any obligation to buy Adobe's free trials - you can download, install, and run the trials of tools you don't already have, or more recent versions if you'd like to - but that would be up to you.

Adobe Photoshop CS6 won't run, problem with Application Manager
I've now got three Adobo Photoshop CS products on my MacBook Pro, the latest is CS6 which won't run.
I own Photoshop CS3, I just happen to install the CS5.x suite today, which runs during the trial period (30 day, today is day #1).
I then see that PSCS6 is out so I install that and get an error dialog.

Please download a new copy of Adobe Application Manager from http://www.adobe.com/go/applicationmanager.
I go to that URL, run the new application manager and get that same dialog box when I try to run CS6.
When I did the CS6b install it asked for my Adobe ID/password and I entered that and the install completed. So I'm not sure what's going on.Hi, Using OSX Lion...was getting the same AAM errors.

During one installation attempt I noticed that it was using an Adobe Application Manager here:
~User/Applications/Adobe/OOBE/PDApp/core/Adobe Application Manager
It is version 6.0.236.0 and the installer deletes it after the install. The download page only has version 2.
So during my last install attempt, I grabbed a copy of that OOBE directory -- to catch the support files -- before deletion.
Did not work in user Applications folder, but when I copied it in the location of AAM 2, it works.
The full location is as follows (I renamed the original OOBE folder as a back-up):
HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/PDApp/core/Adobe Application Manager
Authorization works, and software update seems to...however, uninstall can't use this method. -
Problem opening Application Manager
I purchased Adobe Cloud earlier this summer and downloaded a few applications from the application manager (ie, Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom, & Premiere). But I for the past week I cant open the Application Manager so I can download Illustrator. I even downloaded a trial version and once I'm prompt to install, the install manager shuts down when opened. I'm using a Macbook Pro i5 with OSX 10.8.2.
The error reads first:
"The last time you opened Adobe Application Manager, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again? If you choose not to reopen windows, you may have to open and posistion the windows yourself."
(I have chose to "Reopen" and "Don't Reopen")
This is the next message...
"Adobe Application Manager quit unexpectedly. Click reopen to open the application again. Click report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.
Can someone help me out?No, I chatted with one of Adobe's reps and we went through a couple things. We deleted and reinstalled. Then tried to download and install Illustrator by itself but couldn't open even open it because I got the same report that it unexpectedly closed. He then told me to rename my "OOBE" folder to "Old OOBE" from my Library. Which I did then deleted the AAM and reinstalled but that didn't help. I've also restarted once I deleted the AAM. Sort of a bummer deal.

Installer, application manager and camera raw plug in issues
Hi - I need help.
I'm running on Windows 7. I have just upgraded Photoshop to CS5.5 from CS4 (on my laptop not a creative cloud version). I have since uninstalled Photoshop CS4. I was trying to install the camera raw plug in 6.7.1 but it would not install and I got a message saying that the application manager was damaged and to download it again. I have downloaded the application manager file but cannot install it. I am getting the "installer failed to initilize" message. I've read through the forums on this and cannot find a solution.
I have extracted the file so I am not trying to open a zip file. I have downloaded a second time to a different location and tried installing again while logged into creative cloud but got the same message. I saw the comment about deleting the Adobe/OOBE folder and trying again but was wary about doing this as I don't know what this folder is. Can someone tell me what this is and why I would delete it?
I don't think I had this issue before I uninstalled CS4. I think I had already downloaded a camera raw plug in for that version. So I am wondering if deleting CS4 caused the issue.
I then downloaded CS6 cloud version thinking that perhaps I would get application manager installed correctly within that. I have now been able to install the camera raw plug in and this is now working in CS5.5 but strangely still cannot run the setup.exe for the application manager (So perhaps it is just a problem with Installer?).
Can someone tell me if application manager is just relevant for cloud based products or is it required for desktop versions as well? Could creative cloud be interferring with my desktop version? Where can I find the application manager files? If I uninstall CS6 will I have the same problem with application manager not working in future? I do not really want to use a cloud based version (CS6) and don't want to keep unnecessary programs on my laptop.I signed up to Creative Cloud when both desktop and cloud versions were supported and may not continue when my subscription expires.
To fix this problem without CS6 do I need to reinstall CS5.5? (To do this I will have to reinstall CS4 as it was an upgrade version). Would just reinstalling CS4 fix the problem? Can I just reinstall the application manager part of either of these or is there a simpler solution?

I have Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection but have only installed Photoshop and Bridge ( this includes files associated with that install). Since installing that I have also installed Photoshop 6 (with Bridge etc).
The issue I had in Photoshop 5.5 was I was unable to read files from Canon EOS 5D Mark 2. I was trying to install the camera raw plug in 6.7.1 to fix this. I got a message saying that the application manager was damaged and to download it again. I downloaded the application manager file (adobe application manager 8) but couldn't install it. I got an "installer failed to initilize" message.
So I downloaded CS6 to see if that would fix the application manager issue. I have now been able to install the camera raw plug 6.7.1 and this is now working in CS5.5. So the initial problem is fixed for now but what I want to know is -
- Is the Application Manager associated with the version or does it stand alone as a separate file?
- If I now uninstall Photoshop 6 will the Application Manager uninstall also, or will it continue to work in 5.5?
- What is the best way to uninstall version 6 - should I do this through Application Manager not Windows Control Panel? I cannot see where to do this.
The Adobe site says to start AAM by :
Choose Help > Updates in a Creative Suite 5 product.
Double-click PDApp.exe in the following locations: Windows 64 bit: \Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\core\
If I chose Help in Photoshop 5.5 - the update option is greyed out and not available.
If I follow the second option I get the Creative Cloud Application Manager (version 9) offering me updates for version Photoshop 6 only.
How can I find out if I have a working Application manager for 5.5?
What is the best way to uninstall version 6?
You are right I have found folders / files which need to be cleaned up from CS4 eg: plug ins and a lot of empty folders. What is the best way to clean up these - can I just delete them in Windows Explorer?

Application manager: Thread management

i've traced sun's javatv ri and i'm facing a problem about application management.
The XletManager of the RI creates an XletThread which runs
in a while loop:
while(shouldRun) {...}
After an xlet destroys, shouldRun is set to false thus this XletThread
terminates gracefully.
The XletManager has a request producer and consumer concept.
In the while loop the thread keep looking for requests. If there is none,
it waits. If there is one, it processes the request and then waits again.
For instance, if user selects a service which contains an AUTOSTART
xlet, a request is generated and the XletThread will execute the initXlet()
implemented by the xlet. After the XletThread returns from initXlet(),
it executes startXlet().
Usually the xlet creates its own thread (UserThread) and do its work by
the thread. Thus avoid blocking XletThread too long.
Sorry for the long description and here is the problem:
If the xlet has an infinite loop in initXlet() or startXlet()
and it traps the XletThread forever, how does XletManager
terminates XletThread?
The CVM-PBP does not provide Thread.stop(), and obviously
javatv ri's XletManager does not handle such situation.
How to solve this problem if the VM is CVM-PBP?
Hence, if the UserThread is also trapped in an infinite loop,
how does XletManager identify the UserThread and also terminates it?
I've read the book "Interactive TV standards" chap 4 but the author
only states "Identifying all threads belong to an Xlet is not easy. And
even all the threads are identified, it is still difficult to terminate
them." The author does not mention how to solve the problems.
Any reply is appreciated.In the general case there are no good solutions to this problem. Among the possible bad solutions are;
- test all applications before transmission so this doesn't happen
- reboot the Java VM if any calls to initXlet or startXlet (or event listeners) take more than some defined period (e.g. 10 seconds)
- have multiple XletThreads so that if one Xlet blocks in an XletThread, the implementation can still start Xlets
- have one VM instance per Xlet and kill the VM instance when an Xlet hangs
The only good choice is a JVM supporting something like JSR-121 - the Application isolation API or something like the system described in this paper from Sun;

Of course changing your JVM may not be an option. -
Adobe Application Manager Download Error (and other problems)
Last week I purchased a Creative Cloud membership (Student and Teacher Edition, if that matters at all). When I tried to download applications, the Adobe Application Manager seemed to be unable to connect and instead displayed "Download Error. Press Retry to try again or contact customer support." I read some of the responses to this problem on the forums, and after trying several things, I got it to work (I'm honestly not sure what I did that caused it to work). However, it is now failing to work again and I can't seem to fix it this time. As an additional problem, When I tried to open Adobe Premiere Pro (which I managed to download when I got the App Manager working for a while), I got the opening screen that asked me to open a project or start a new project. No matter what I clicked on, Premiere Pro closed with an error message. Just as with the App Manager (and at the same time), I managed to get Premiere Pro to work (it seemed to work after I set permissions so I thought I solved it), so I was able to use it for a day. However, now the problem has returned.
I don't know if these two problems are related, but they started working at the same time and stopped working at the same time, so I'm posting them together in case there is a connection. I am running Windows Vista on my home computer. I can sign on to the creative cloud online without problem so it recognizes me as a creative cloud subscriber. My Internet connection is working fine. I have disabled all firewalls and it still doesn't work. Very frustrating, obviously.

I am having many problems with the CC 2014 application manager update
I have 2 seats. Thus I have CC 2014 installed on four computers. All four are high end desktops with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed, all four with the latest patches. All four also use high end nvidia graphics cards all with the latest drivers.
On all four, when I tried to update the application manager, only the frame of update the window was visible. Then, when I moused over the empty frame, the blue update button became visible, but nothing else. Since the common thread is nvidia drivers, it seems there may be a conflict. But one card is a Quadro FX 5800, another is 2x SLI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285, another is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2GB, and the fourth is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 3Gb. So all four have different cards.
I went ahead and installed the app mgr update and all the program updates on all four computers. All four had problems, two of them serious.
On one computer, there were problems booting up. The boot up problems went away when I restored to a prior image. I tried several times. The problem persisted. I finally gave up on updating this computer.
This boot up problem then happened on a second computer. I restored to a prior image and the problem went away here as well. I then tried the installs again. This time, the computer booted fine, but I lost the ability to send email. I use Thunderbird and have had no problems sending email ever (for at least the past 8 years). So I again restored to a prior image and the email problem went away. I then tried the installs a third time. Same result. Investigating, I was able to get an alternate outgoing mail server to work (that of my company site). But I never got the Verizon server to work. Incoming? Yes. But no outgoing.
On the third computer, I also had problems booting. But rebooting many times seems to have solved the problem. Unfortunately, Premiere crashes so often I've reverted to CC.
I realize that Adobe puts much work into making their software better. And I depend on it every day. But to be honest, I've just spent several whole days trying to fix broken computers. And my confidence in Adobe is at an all time low.

I am trying to update Photoshop CS6 in order to read my camera's RAW files. It is a camera that is supported by Adobe Photoshop CS6. However, when I try to get the Adobe Application Manager to update the software, it fails to do so. (The spinning wheel tells me it is checking for updates and then quits, saying that "Update Failed - Updates could not be applied. Adobe Application Manager may be damaged. Download and install a new copy of Adobe Application Manager.")
I have tried to reinstall the Adobe Application Manager 8.0, which gives me the following error message "We've encountered the following issues. Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem." However, when I go to the link provided to download the Adobe Support Advisor, this piece of software NO LONGER EXISTS. "

So, I have gone to the forums and took the recommended step to update my software manually - getting the update Photoshop_CS6_13_0_6upd-2.dmg. However, this update also fails stating that my Adobe Application Manager may be damages. Download and install a new copy of Adobe Application Manager. Which puts me right back where I started.
I have also taken the step of completely reinstalling Photoshop CS6. This did not solve the problems outlined above.

if that fails, uninstall ps, clean (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6) and reinstall. then use the manual updates. -
Adobe Application Manager Problems
I have been having troubles with the Application Manager, it is driving me nuts.
For some reason it insists on starting up in Chinese and I don't see anyway to change it, so this makes it a little harder for an English speaker to reader what is going on.
How do I fix this?
I have tried reinstalling it to no avail so this has me blocked.
The other problem is that there has been an update to the Extensions Manager that will not install on my MacBook Air running Mountain Lion 10.8.1 always fails, ideas?Please check your settings for the Language & Text preference pane. It is likely you have Chinese at the top of the list. If so please remove it from the list.

Problems with TCS3, Adobe Application Manager, and Acrobat X
I have to deploy Technical Communications Suite 3 to a group of 20 people with a volume license key. In order to avoid giving 20 people in the company a volume key, I'm using the Adobe Application Manager to build a distributable silent installer for this delivery. The problem is that when you use the Adobe Application Manager to create the build, Adobe Acrobat Professional X (which is part of the package) is not an installable option, nor is it actually installed as seen in the attached screenshot
However, if I just launch the installer by double-clicking Set-up.exe from the downloaded media directory, I do get the option to add Acrobat X.
Finally, if I drill into the installation media folder, "...\Adobe Technical Communication Suite 3\payloads\AcrobatProfessional10.0-EFG" there is a .msi which is for Acrobat X, but when launched, the product key I was provided for Technical Communications Suite 3 does not work. The key works just fine to install the entire suite, but not Acrobat X by itself.
Has anyone else had any luck creating a silent install for TCS3? I called support and reproduced the problem for them, but they had no answer.
Just for the record, I have found this exact same behavior with all the Adobe Suites which are supposed to get Acrobat.This is true that Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition currently does not support silently deploying Acrobat alongwith TCS3. However, you do not need a separate license key for Acrobat.
Pls follow the below mentioned steps to silently install TCS 3 with Acrobat:
1) Uninstall TCS3 (including Acrobat) from your machine, if already present. Make sure all products are uninstalled succesfully.
2) Create a serialized package for TCS 3 using the AAMEE tool
3) Run the silent installation command for TCS3
4) Goto the Exceptions folder inside the TCS 3 package and open ExceptionInfo.txt. This has information of all the products that this package will not install. Look for the command to install Acrobat X Pro. For your reference, I am mentioning it here,
msiexec.exe /i AcroPro.msi EULA_ACCEPT=NO REGISTRATION_SUPPRESS=YES SUITEMODE=1 TRANSFORMS=en_US.mst INSTALLLEVEL=101 AS_DISABLE_LEGACY_COLOR=1 IGNOREAAM=1 /qn
5) Install Acrobat silently using this command
6) Launch any product installed through TCS ( FrameMaker or RoboHelp) and verify that its activated (Help->Deactivate menu should be enabled)
7) Now launch Acrobat. You will see that Acrobat automatically picks up TCS 3 license present in the machine and gets serialized. You do not need any other serial number.
