Down arrow button not working, warranty item?

Hello,
I just bought first Mac ever. Upon finishing loading my dual boot OS I have noticed that the down arrow button is stuck/lose/broken. Not sure what it is but it is almost pressed down before you touch it. Is this repairable under the warranty? I literally have had it out of the box for a couple hours and this issue has arisen. Just want to know whether just to get repaired at Apple store or return it to BB for a new one. Thanks

You may have switched on caret browsing.

You can toggle caret browsing on/off by pressing F7 (Mac: fn + F7).

Up and Down Arrow Keys Not Working

I have had the HP Pavilion g6t-1b00 CTO Notebook PC for a year or two now. I've been having a couple of problems with internet connectivity and putting my computer on "sleep".
However, few days ago, my keyboard randomly started acting weirdly. When I would try to type certain letter/numbers, they would come out differently.
Ex. pressing the space bar would show up " ./M" instead
I tried restarting my computer many times and installed a BiOS update which fixed all of my issues except for my up and down arrow keys. As of now, they have no function; I can't scroll with them and they don't seem to be taking on the role of another key. I have tried using the keys on different programs. Using the touch pad to scroll works but I still can't use the up and down keys.
Is there anyway to get the up and down arrow keys to work again?

I understand you’re up and down arrow keys are not functioning, is that accurate? I will do all I can to help you with this issue.
I want you to access the setup menu to test the keys out, see instructions below.
1.       Shut down the computer.
2.       Locate the F10 key across the top.
3.       When you turn the computer back on immediately start tapping the F10 key repeatedly.
4.       If successful you should be on setup utility screen. What’s different about this is you can only use you arrow keys to navigate.
5.       Try working the arrow keys up and down on different menus and see if they work.
6.       Once you tested it press F9 to setup defaults and then press F10 to save and exit.

Arrow buttons not working.

Arrow buttons stopped working once I upgraded to Mountain Lion. I thought Mavericks would fix. No luck. Any ideas? If I look in input sources, there are no arrow keys on the keyboard illustrations for US or US extended keyboards.

If a hard reset didn't work, you probably need to restore the iPhone.

Nokia Lumia 720 down volume button not working aft...

Hi just got my Lumia 720 25 days back and now i'm having this issue going on started from today after I wake up my phone the down volume button does not work for a while. What i noticed is until i press the Up volume button the down volume button does not respond anuthing. Is that a software problem ? Because i feel like if i press it little harder than usual it start working fine.
Not sure what to do ? Like it will get resolved with an upcoming update or an hardware issue ? Should I need to check with the Nokia Care.
I already tried to do a soft reset thrice but it still the same. Someone please help !

Even I have the same issue with my Newly purchased nokia lumia 720... Sometime the volume down buttons works perfectly and with time is doesn't work at all is this a software issue... i am facing this since i have downloaded an audio update.... i m tired of resetting the settings i am tired visiting service centers, as they are asking me to leave my phone for 15-20 days as the part is not available with them and my question is. if there is a hardware issue then is should stop working but in my case sometimes it works as perfect as the day i bought the device and sometimes it doesn't work at all. Will this issue be fixed with Amber update... What is the appropriate solutions for this matter please reply......

On my desktop the up and down arrows do not work, they do work when plugged into my laptop.

I uninstalled Firefox, deleted the folder from Win XP and custom re-installed (asking for information not be transferred) . To my surprise my bookmarks had not gone. .Neither had the problem. The up & down arrows do work on Internet Explorer (which I very rarely use).
How can I '''totally''' remove Firefox before a clean re-install as a first step to solving the problem?

Try hitting '''F7''' and see if that changes the action of those arrow keys.

Approx 5 month old apple 11" Macbook air and now the down arrow is not working!

Hi everyone,
I have a 5 month old Macbook Ait 11".
Recently, the "down" arrow on the key pad no longer works.
I am completing my PhD and am working with a lot of data - so this isn't working for me!
Can anyone make any suggestions?
I simply can not be without my laptop for weeks while Apple fix it.
I would appreciate any suggestions!

If you are winthin range of an Apple store or Apple Approved Service Provider, then I would suggest you take it in to be looked at. They will be able to give you an indication of how long a repair would take - typically not weeks, but unless they were prepared to swap it there and then, which is unlikely, you would have to be prepared to be without it for at least a few days.
You can, of course, delay having it repaired until you reach a more convenient point to be without it, simply by plugging in a USB keyboard.

It has to be "warmed -up" by holding it down for like 15-20mins and then it intermittently works.
Suspect a pinched keyboard circuitry....

The easiest solution would be to buy a replacement keyboard or use an external USB keyboard when you need to use the arrow keys. You can find a used keyboard on eBay pretty cheap these days. I just picked one up for a HP G50 for a mere $8 after shipping. Generally there is no way to fix these keyboards if there is a problem in the ribbon cables. Good luck!

Simple Drop Down Menu buttons not working

I'm having a bit of trouble getting a button in a hoover over drop down menu to link to another scene in the .swf movie. I just doing a basic drop down menu (example here: http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/Interactivity/Navigation/Drop_dow-Phlook-951/index.php) with a couple of buttons with in a movie clip, the movie clip being the "button" someone hoovers over. The buttons however are not going to the corrisponding scene I have them set up to. What's strange is that if I set in the buttons action panel to go to an url instead of a scene, in the .swf movie the button works when I click it...it wants to go the specificed url. Nothing happens when it's set to go to a scene. Any help would be much appreciated.

This is all very strange, because as I said, the buttons that are not with in a movie clip work with that method in their action panel. i have buttons on a drop down menu that wont do anything. The
only thing the works so far is the on roll over stage. I am trying
to make the button navigate to a certain frame on the same scene.
The buttons are from my button1_mc.... and the first is affars_btn.
I labeled the instances accordingly and placed the script on the
first frame of the scene (2) which is where the menu and main info
is on. Scene 1 is just the preloader.

HT201321 Numbers pad 4 5 6 and the up down arrow key quit working. I swithched keybouards (Both are Apple, and still have the same problem, its not hardware.)

The 4 5 6 keys and the up down arrows do not work.
I had the Cap C off for a While Had hit some key command
that shut it off so I got a new keyboard and it did the same.
HAs anyone had this problem

Does the problem happen if you reboot the system into Safe Mode by holding the Shift key at startup?
Additionally, does the problem happen if you create a new user account in the Users & Groups system preferences and log into that?

    Option click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
    Select "Library" and then "Caches".
    Look for the folder 'com.apple.Safari"
    Right click "com.apple.Safari" and select "Move to Trash"
    Relaunch Safari.

Lumia 720 volume down button not working

Hey buddies, I'm using lumia 720 and often i get this volume down button not working.
I changed the button by giving it in nokia care for 3times and still im facing the same problem.
And also noticed that this is happening to most of the lumia 720's.
so kindly look into it and rectify the problem as soon as possible.

Your only solution would be to return the unit back to nokia care for inspection,if there is a recurring issue with this im sure nokia would be aware of it now,and it could be a slight manufacturing defect which again would be looked into.

Is there an "APPLE STORE" in India or you just went in a reseller store?
There is a replacement program for sleep/wake button for free. Just look for an Apple Store and make a reservation at Genius Bar.
I have an iPhone 5, bought in Dubai U.A.E.
It is a US model (model A1428) which is different of the model use here in Italy/Europe
My serial number is qualified for battery replacement program.
I thought the Apple Store wouldn't repair my phone because I bought it from another country , a different model and it is already out of warranty.
The Apple store's staff just checked if my iPhone's serial number is eligible for the program and he replaced the battery for free today.

Down scroll arrow does not work in Firefox or Safari.

When in Firefox or Safari, the down scroll arrow does not work (I have arrows set to top and bottom, both at bottom makes no difference). Striking above or below the scroll bar works as expected (set to one page, up or down). The up scroll arrow works as expected. Both arrows work fine in all other applications (word, excel, powerpoint, preview, etc.). Grabbing the scroll bar and moving it up and down works fine also.
Only failure is the down scroll arrow when in Firefox or Safari.

Thanks for your help, but in setting up another account, I was looking at the settings for Firefox on the MacBook Pro (my wife's computer). I saw that for some reason she had turned off (probably accidentally) the status bar. Some reason turning it off merges the up scroll arrow and the window expansion corner, somehow turning off the scroll bar. Sounds stupid, but by turning it on I fixed the problem she had.

The below drop down box with arrows do not work. I cannot tell you "This Happened" as the box just flickers. It will work in Explorer.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
