Down arrow in scroll bar missing

Most of the time the down arrow on the scroll bar is missing or occupies the same space as the page expansion square in the lower right hand corner. This happens whether the up scrolling arrow is at the bottom or the top. It happens with all pages on Firefox and most pages from search engines. Sometimes it is there. It is on this page and some linked pages.

strange problem. Not sure if it will help but you can try this:
run the following command in the terminal
defaults write "Apple Global Domain" AppleScrollBarVariant DoubleBoth
restart Firefox and see what happens. the above is supposed to put up and down scroll arrows both at the top and at the bottom of the page.

On most screens the down arrow in the scrolling bar has disappeared or occupies the same space as the page expansion square in the lower right hand corner. Tried having the up arrow both at the top and at the bottom of the scrolling bar. Diappearance occurs on all screens originating from Firefox. It is available on this screen and most linked pages from Firefox.

  • Down arrow in scroll bar disappears

I have a user using Acrobat Professional 8 on Windows XP Pro. When she opens a document in Acrobat she can scroll trought the document using the up and down arrows in the scroll bar. Then, at seemingly random times, the down arrow disappears and she has to restart Acrobat to get it back. Does anyone have any experience with or suggestions for fixing this problem?

  • When maximized, I cannot see the bottom part of the window, for example, i can't see the "down arrow" on scroll bar on the right side. Is there a way to fix it?

This also means that i can't really see the website address when i hover over a hyperlink.

It is probably broken. You can try restoring it using Recovery Mode, but if that fails its time for a new phone. After all, it is 4 generations out of date. See: Recovery Mode

  • Scroll bar missing on opening any website in firefox nightly 38.0a1

Vertical Scroll bar missing on opening any website in firefox nightly 38.0a1

On Mac the scroll bars can be hidden and only have them show when you scroll the page so you can see the current scroll position.
The idea is that a touch pad is used that doesn't require the scroll bars to be visible and thus have more screen estate for the browsing area.
You can make the scroll bars always visible:
System Preferences > General > Show Scroll Bar > Choose "Always"
You can try to delete the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

  • Scroll Bar missing on Safari web pages and unfamiliar screen saver image

I recently upgraded my OS X from Panther to Tiger v. 10.4.11 and upgraded to Safari 3.1.2. Now the scroll bar down the right side is missing from the open web page in Safari. Where did it go and how do I get it back?
Also, unfamiliar images appear, something like a screen saver when I leave my computer for a
few minutes without putting it to sleep or shutting it down. It's a black/white/gray portrait of
a woman and as the picture moves around the screen, the image magnifies. I have no idea
where this image came from nor how to get rid of it. Any ideas?

Hi Busy1, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, or things don't load/run, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.

The combo update for Intel-based Macs...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateintel.html
Repair Permissions after re-install, then reboot again.
If all the above do not resolve the problem, then it's time for an Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...

  • Playlist scroll bar missing?

    Hello all.
Just installed the new Itunes 11. Went to one of my playlists to find a song to listen to only to see that the scroll bar on the right side of the playlist column is now gone! Am I missing something here? How do I scroll down thru my playlists now? Using the mouse wheel is way to time comsuming!
If any of you have the answer to this question i'd sure appreciate it if you'd let me know.
    Thanks.
    Jeff

Jeff, when you open iTunes and the window appears, click the very top of the window and drag it to the left and you will see the scroll bar on the right. Then click the maximize button on the upper r/h corner and it will stay. You will have to do this evey time you open iTunes until Apple puts out an update which fixes this problem for us windows users.

  • ITunes scroll bar missing

When in my collection of SONGS in iTunes, previously, I would see an alphabetical display down the right side of the screen so you could "jump quickly" to other songs in the list by touching a letter that alphabetical listing.  That alphabetical listing has disappeared form the screen.  How do I get the scroll bar back?   I have re-installed iTunes, I have done a full restore of my entire iPhone and the issue still remains.   I have a 5s and all software is fully updated to the latest versions.
    Thank you!

    Hi Lex,
Yes I should have said the music app.  That is a good correction.
The red alphabet list on the right hand side that you referenced is exactly what is missing now.
I used to see it displayed, now it is simply non-existent and I want to get it back.
    Thanks

  • How can I stop Firefox from changing Tabs/pages when I use the up/down arrows for scrolling?

A recent update is causing the browser to switch between tabs, or even go on to other pages, when I use the keyboard navigation arrows to scroll down the page. This is aggravating, especially when filling out a form, which can submit before completion. The tab switching occurs mostly when the focus is not in a specific portion of the web page, such as when I have selected a tab. I I can find no way to disable this behavior.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

Not sure how, but when using Firefox and opening my email all my fonts have changed to 8pt size and all regular font (i.e., not bold for unread msgs) and the scroll bar is missing.
When I open email using another browser, all email settings are consistent/normal as they were before and the scroll bar is visible/in position.

  • Problem in Drill Down feature and Scroll Bar

    Hi All,
Well I have designed a report on Oracle BI and facing the following issues:
    1. When i opened the report through image/link box(from mypage dashboard or from some other way) and if the data have enough rows and columns to overflow the screen size then there is no scroll bar on the screen so i wouldn't be able to see that data.
    2. When I am clicking on the year(as i made a time hierarchy --> year then quater then month) on the either pivot table or chart view then automatically all corresponding Dashboard Prompts(DP) disappear so i can't filter the data.
Please help me out in this.
    thanks in advance.
    regards
    mohit

    Regarding 2)
This is the expected behavior of drill downs. The subsequent reports from the highest level are "system-generated." If you want the prompts, you will have to use the Navigate feature and navigate to a dashboard where you can have your prompts.
    Regarding 1)
Are you using the Table View or Pivot Table view? If Table View, you can increase the number of rows that are visible by default (change this in the Properties of the Table View.) If you are using a Pivot Table, try this link:

  • Why does the down arrow button scroll content up?

The new logic/behavior with swiping up/down is now: "you are moving the content, not the scrollbar"
I can accept this as a somewhat good logic. It makes sense..
But should'nt the arrow keys behave the same way to make this behavior/logic consistent?
The arrow key down still scrolls the content up (if you think like that)
Or does the arrow keys scroll the scroller down.. Well which is it?

That would change the trackpad behavior, which is not what I'm looking for, but thank you
I'm just asking about the arrow keys and the logic behind the new natural navigation

  • Loss of "orange down arrow" for menu bar

On my first download of FF4, there was an orange down arrow that contained File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, etc. Now it is a separate bar that takes up the space that was saved before. What happened?

Alt+V (view menu) > Toolbars > (uncheck) Menu bar
Note the "Firefox" button is mutually exclusive to the menu bar and the title bar.
Though you like that main change with Firefox 4 there may be other things you want similar to 3.6, if so, see
You can make Firefox 4.0.1 look like Firefox 3.6.17, see numbered items 1-10 in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 look like 3.6)]
I find that my own styling changes save more space than changes introduced in 4.0 when it comes down to displaying what I want to display.

  • Horizontal scroll bar missing after switch to Apex 4 theme

    Hi,
I upgraded Apex to 4.02 and switch my application theme from old 3.2 theme to new Apex 4.0 theme,
I found that all the Apex 4.02 won't show horizontal scroll if the interactive report width larger than the browser windows width.
Is this the default behaviour of all the 4.0 theme?
How can I change it to display the horizontal scroll bar.
    Thanks

How about editing the template with some css?
something like this should fix your problems (worked fine for me)
    #two-col
    overflow: auto;
dont forget to change the template body (Shared Components --> Templates --> Edit Page Template )
    (div class="tab-holder")
    #REGION_POSITION_04#
    (/div)
note: I reversed the tags to ( ) because it dont shows them else
