What will be the downtime while we doing the VIP Swap of Staging Production environment (Cloud service - web role / worker role)?

Because of update domains, if you have more instances for your roles, each role's instance that is part of one update domain will be updated during that update domain's update, so there is absolutely no downtime.

Slow requests after swapping staging and production slots

Hi!
I'm sometimes experiencing an issue where swapping staging and production slots creates a first slow request on the production (and sometimes on the staging) URL. I thought the whole point of staged deployments were to eliminate slow requests after deployment.
When creating a simple Hello World Website a normal load time for the website could be 100ms, but after swapping it sometimes increases to over a second.
I also tested this with a bit more complex websites and the first request after swapping sometimes exceeds ten seconds, which I find unacceptable.
I am measuring the request times with my browser throughout the swapping process. The websites I tested this with were Standard Websites which had Always-On enabled. The staging slot was called before swapping.
Am I doing something wrong? Why are first requests sometimes so slow? Or is this normal behavior?

I'm still able to reproduce the issue.
I just created a new Website (Web App) with the name swaptest and a staging slot named staging. Then I created a git repository in the staging slot and this is the repo I am always pushing to.
After that, I created a basic node.js Express app via the generator and pushed it towards the staging slot. After I loaded the site successfully on the staging slot (which sometimes takes a few seconds, but is fine since this is the warm up) I swap the slots
via the new portal. Most of my swaps were fine, however one of the swaps was slow again. See the screenshot for a very long request time (9 seconds). I already loaded the page once on the staging slot, so it should have been warmed up already.

Does Roaming data syncs for the first time when app data are in download and installation process?

Hi,
I will store user Id in "HighPriority" Roaming data. When user will install app in another computer (with the same Microsoft Account), app will get user Id from Roaming data. Then I can implement all data sync over my cloud service.
There are 2 scenarios:
1. User downloads and installs app in another computer, but roaming data syncs/downloads for the first time only after several minutes -
It's bad for my app :(
2. User downloads and installs app in another computer and roaming data syncs/downloads at the same time (then I can get user Id immediately)
- Its great for my app :)
Which scenario is real in practice?
Does Roaming data syncs for the first time when app data are in download and installation process?

Umm no not that i remember. It just randomly started happening. I reformatted the hard drive for mac (journaled) but it was working fine since i did it until now

Can an Azure VM Query Its Cloud Service Namd and Public IP Address

Is there some way to write a script or application that would run on an Azure VM and could query to find out the DNS Name (externally visible hostname) for the VM and the external/public IP address?
I started looking at Azure Extensions, but it looks like they're intended to be run from a management system somewhere, rather than being initiated by code on the Azure VM. Correct me please if this is wrong. I'm dead new to this area, never looked at Azure
until yesterday.

You could not directly query the cloud service name and public IP from one azure VM. Base on my experience, you may need add the service management API cert to your VM and call the Service Management APIs (

Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, relaunch Safari.
If it's not Extensions, check for third party Safari add ons.

What are Azure limitations for Websockets in Cloud Services (web and worker role)?

A WebSocket Server should be built on Azure platform with OnPrem connections and have questions regarding limitations for Websockets in Azure Cloud Services - web and worker roles.
Websockets can be configured for Web Sites and limitations are understood, but Azure Websites is not an option.
Nevertheless it is planned to run a web service (without UI - no web site) as a Cloud service which has secure websocket (WSS) connections to OnPrem machines. Websocket protocol is enabled for IIS8 on Cloud services web and worker roles. Azure Service Bus Relay
is not an option.
Questions:
1) Are Websockets supported for Azure Cloud services web and worker roles? we assume yes
2) What are potential limitations from Azure side to support concurrent Websocket connections? We are aware that CPU, memory etc are limitations, but are there additional limitations from MS Azure side?

As I know, azure cloud service web and worker role support Websockets, users can connect to the role via the special endpoint, if we use Azure cloud service, I think we can monitor the metrics such as CPU, memory, etc... and scale our cloud service via these
metrics to keep the websockets working, refer to

'role discovery data is unavailable' cloud service (staging)

This has been posted on stackoverflow, so apologies for the cross post, but I'm trying to gain traction on fixing this and losing time.
I currently have a production cloud service working. I moved a project dependency from being a direct dll reference to local nuget package and after some re-factoring, decided to deploy my efforts to the staging site.
Locally, the changes with the dependency appears to be working correctly; the site loads and works well using the azure compute emulator.
However, when I deploy to the staging environment (via visual studio publish to azure option) the deployment fails as it detects multiple cycles of the instance which points to a spin up issue. When I've jumped on the box to try and find the route cause, I
can see the dreaded role discovery data is unavailable exception.
My gut hunch is nuget has updated a package which caused this but can't see what and why it would work locally but not in the cloud. I thought it might be the azure caching but it looks as though I'm using the same version as the live (working) site.
- Does anyone have a fix for this?
- If this works locally (cuts out many answers I've seen when you see this using the emulator), what am I missing or including to prevent this working in the cloud?
- Is there a way I can debug this further to find out why I'm getting the exception

Base on my experience, if we implement the references using NuGet, we could see those DLL files from "References". I recommend you could set those DLL files "Copy Local" to "true". And try to deploy project

Slow downloading times when using the cloud

Has anybody else noticed slow loading times when transfering files via the cloud? We have tested speeds across three of our magazines each on different networks. Some are faster than others but overall the speeds are still slower than we would hope.
I did have a problem with Adobe servers many months ago when we were still using V11 and the rest of the world was on V17 but the engineering team at Adobe quickly fixed this for us. I am just wondering how everybody else is getting on time wise when downoaoding folios, it may be we have a problem with our network than needs addressing internally.

I plan to install APEX 4.2.1 and oracle HTTP server on 10.2.0.4 database.
Is there any down time required during installation?
I mean during installation, do I need to block users from accessing the database?
Can they do their normal data entry / inquiry?

An alternative to shutting down the database is to prevent all users from accessing Oracle Application Express when upgrading your installation from a previous release of Oracle Application Express. Oracle only recommends this option in high availability production environments where planned outages are not available. For all other scenarios, the database should be shut down.
To disable access to Oracle Application Express when the existing installation is using the Application Express Listener, shut down the appropriate application server where the Application Express listener is deployed.
To disable user access to Oracle Application Express when the existing installation is using the Oracle HTTP Server with mod_plsql, you should either shut down the Web server or disable the Application Express Database Access Descriptor of the Web server.
For an existing installation using the embedded PL/SQL gateway, you should disable the Oracle XML DB Protocol Server by setting the HTTP port to 0. This can be accomplished by starting SQL*Plus, connecting as SYS to the database where Oracle Application Express is installed, and running:
EXEC DBMS_XDB.SETHTTPPORT(0);
Once you have prevented access from Oracle Application Express users, you should log into SQL*Plus as SYS, connecting to the database where Oracle Application Express is installed, and query V$SESSION to ensure there are no long running sessions which would interfere with the upgrade process.
Back up the Oracle Database installation.
Oracle recommends that you create a backup of the current Oracle Database installation before you install Oracle Application Express. You can use Oracle Database Recovery Manager, which is included in the Oracle Database installation, to perform the backup.

Does VZ still have a back up to the cloud service? and if so How can I find out if I am enrolled? And if I am, what all is backed up?

Verizon still has a backup to the Cloud service. Its included in the more everything plan and most other plans have at least 5GB of storage. You could find out what features you have on your account in My Verizon. Log in and look at apps and features and programs. Alternatively, if you are using an Android phone and some others, you can use Google Gmail to backup contacts and Google Drive to backup all other files pics music and videos. You can also back up your content to your PC. DropBox and OneDrive are other alternatives with storage space. Gmail gives you 15GB and OneDrive 15-30GB.

ExactTarget Cloud Services Configuration and CQ5.5

I am currently running CQ5.5 sp1 and there is no ExactTarget Cloud Services Configuration. Does anyone know how to integrate ExactTarget on CQ5.5 sp1? Is there a package I need to install or a some java I need to implement?

AFAIK there is no FP for 5.5 for such configuration. I have placed the documentation (DOC-3411) update request.

How to promote configuration in CRMOD across staging and production

1.     If we make any configuration changes in production environment exactly after what time does these changes get reflected in staging environment? We understand it is every quarter but can Oracle confirm say July 2nd for April-May-June quarter. We need to know the exact date and time?
2.     If we make any configuration changes in staging environment (to objects, picklist, layouts, workflows, reports) ,is this possible to promote those changes in production environment by downloading script from staging and uploading script into production? Is there any tool available for this ?

This is the incorrect forum for this question, however I do that CRM staging environments are automatically 'refreshed' from production. I'm just not what that schedule is.

HT1349 I have a sony Vaio (VGN-NS190J). Recently, my I tunes library does not stay in I tunes upon shutting my computer down. When I start the computer up and open I tunes, I have to have I tunes find all my music files and repopulate? help please

Can somebody help......regarding the above question..... I have had I tunes on this computer for several years without a problem. I do use webroot as an antivirus software. I have Windows Vista operating system and I am using the latest version of Itunes available. When ever I open Itunes, my music, books, ect, ect. files are always gone and I have to ask Itunes to find them on my computer almost every time I open Itunes. This problem has been going on now for about the last 6 months. Nothing else wrong with computer. Another issue associated: I can create a playlist one night, and the next day I open Tune, it's gone. I would really appreciate any help. Thank you.

It can be that the library path, or files, are corrupted. What happens if you set a different path to save the library?
