Downgrade Acrobat 9.0 to Acrobat 8.0

Hi,
Our customer buy Acrobat 9.0 and want to downgrade to Acrobat 8.0. Is this ok?
Thanks,
Lam

Sure, if you have the installation for version 8.0. Adobe doesn't sell it anymore, though. And you will need to remove version 9 before installing version 8.

    Hi hytech14,
This is possible only if you have purchased volume license for Acrobat11.

  • Downgrade Acrobat Pro DC to Acrobat Pro XI

    Hi,
We buy Acrobat Pro DC version because Acrobat Pro XI was no more available.
It appears that some functionality we need on portfolio have disappeared.
What is the way to convert our Pro DC license to a Pro XI license ?
    Regards

    Hi Genievieve,
That's correct, licence for Acrobat DC will not work for Acrobat XI. I thought that you have upgraded to Acrobat DC from Acrobat XI that is the reason I provided you that link.
Acrobat DC Pro has inbuilt flash player, however it does not have features like adding a background image and slide show of portfolio documents.
Seems you will have to work with Acrobat DC Pro now.
However you can fill a feature request form at  https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

  • How can I downgrade from Acrobat Pro 10.1.x to 10.0.x?

We received the Acrobat 10.1 Reader/Pro installation software that was intended to be used with a corporate software system for publishing purposes.  However, the software is only compatible with Acrobat 10.0.x.  Is there a way to downgrade Acrobat easily? or a method available to download the 10.0.x installation files?
We have purchased version 10 over the past year for a number of people in our organization, so I'm sure we have a 10.0.x disc around.  But since the discs are not labelled, I don't want to keep installing the software just to find out which version it is.  This also covers Acrobat Reader.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi ECPI,
Your best course of action would be to uninstall Acrobat, then reinstall the base 10.0.0 from your media.

  • Will OraRRP Support Adobe Acrobat Reader X?

After Adobe Acrobat Reader version 9 on a Windows PC was upgraded to version X (10), the Oracle Reports Remote Printing Utility (orarrp.exe v1.3.4) no longer worked. (OraRRP setup for Reports 10gR2 per MetaLink Note ID: 277431.1.) It worked fine before Acrobat Reader upgrade but, afterwards, report printing attempts generated an OraRRP Error -- 'Failed to establish DDE conversation with Acrobat, Error: 16394'.
Downgrading Acrobat Reader back to version 9.4 allowed OraRRP to function correctly again. Will the OraRRP utility be updated to support newer versions of Acrobat Reader (X or greater) which include latest OS and security fixes?

  • No Thumbnails Using Acrobat 6 XP 64

I installed XP 64 Bit about a month ago.
Since then I've struggled with my thosands of pdf as I can no longer see their cover illustrations -- all I see is a Acrobat PDF Icon sitting in the thumbnail box.
I've got to get this sorted out without upgrading Acrobat 6 as I must have 6's user interface. (I own CS3 & I downgraded Acrobat to version 6).
    Any suggestions please!
    Thanks in advance.

Still the same answer. The first version that supported X64 was 8.1.2 I think. However, it may be that X64 does not have a thumbnail feature either, that would be an OS issue that I have no idea about. If you try to make a PDF, you will likely find that the only way is to print to file using the Adobe PDF printer and then open the file in Distiller. You did not mention the creation issue.
It may be this is a case where you want to install the newer Reader also, hoping that would resolve this. You might find the Acrobat-Reader compatibility to be a problem (not a recommended install).

No, Adobe is no longer selling any version of Acrobat 9 and the program is EOL, anyway, with only the most critical issues being patched.

  • 11.0.9 is unusable, but after downgrading to 11.0, Acrobat keeps auto-updating back to 11.0.9

I can't use 11.0.9 because it screws up the HTML > PDF conversion (alignment issues galore). I learned how to downgrade to 11.0 yesterday. This morning, I came into work and it had auto-updated back to 11.0.9. In Preferences > Updater it's set to not download and install updates, so I don't understand why this happened (apart from the fact that all updates on our machines require admin logins, which certainly didn't happen in the middle of the night!)
I have the Creative Cloud, and it was running, but still, such an update shouldn't have happened without the admin login. We've turned off the CC launching at boot, but I do need to run it occasionally to update other apps, but I NEVER want Acrobat to update until they come out with a usable product again.
    Any help out there?
    TIA,
    Kirby

    Hi KRKnight,
The latest version of Acrobat is v 11.0.10. Please check if you still face such conversion issues with Acrobat.
Acrobat’s PDF export to HTML is targeted to facilitate reuse of exported HTML and retaining the exact layout is a secondary aspect. The export engine therefore focuses on accurately generating text content with minimum HTML tags that is well suited for text re-flow.
If the base version 11.0 works correctly for you then you can continue using it but it's always recommended to update to the latest version as most of the reported bugs and security vulnerabilities are fixed in the latest version.
Disabling the Adobe Acrobat XI update notifications is actually pretty easy. There’s a registry setting in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE that will allow you to completely disable both update notifications and the update functionality. The full path of the key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\11.0\FeatureLockDown
The registry entry is named bUpdater and is a DWORD value. Setting the value to 0 disables updates. (Note: This DWORD value does not exist by default and either has to be created manually or by some other automated method like Group Policy.)

  • I urgently need to downgrade from Acrobat Pro DC to XI. Help?

I teach the creation of accessible PDF documents and have a new computer. I installed various applications onto it including some Adobe products.
The course currently teaches how to use Acrobat Pro XI. This will change with the release of DC but not immediately. I have a class tomorrow and need to have Acrobat XI installed. How can I downgrade ASAP?
    Gerry

    Hi Phil,
The licence of Acrobat DC will not work with Acrobat XI, even its not possible to downdrade the licence from Adobe Acrobat DC Pro to Adobe Acrobat XI Pro if its not a volume licence.
Option to downgrade the licence is only available for Enterprise customers i.e with volume licences, and for that you need to contact our tech support, go to Contact Customer Care page and then click the "Still need help? Contact us" button to initiate a call or chat.

Correct, and I am a user! This is a question I need answered, and that's why I'm posting here on a FORUM.  After being on hold for 1 hour and 10 minutes with Adobe, I decided someone on these forums might know. So, reading back on my question...is it possible to do so?

  • Is it possible to downgrade back to Acrobat X with Creative Cloud?

Acrobat XI seems to be extremely unstable. The data entry form I have been working on has crashed at least 5 times within the last hour. I never had this problem with Acrobat X using the same file so I would like to roll back to X until XI becomes more stable.

    Downgrading is not possible.
Please reply with your operating system version. We will get the issue resolved.

  • Issues after downgrading from Acrobat X Pro to 9.5.2 Pro

Hello, I have Adobe Acrobat 9.5.2 Pro and decided to install Acrobat 10.0 Pro trial. When the trial expired, I decided that I didn't want to purchase it and have since been using Acrobat 9.5.2 Pro; however, I've encountered two errors that I have not been able to resolve.
Problem #1: In Word, I am no longer able to  go to "file" and choose "print to PDF" because I get this message: "Windows can no longer find C:\ProgramFiles\Adobe\Acrobat10.0\Acrobat\AcroTray.exe" By the way, the Adobe 10.0 folder isn't there anymore because I uninstalled 10.0 and ran a cleaner, and acrotray.exe is located at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\acrotray.exe
Problem #2: If I have PDFs saved to my desktop, I can no longer highlight more than two at a time, right click, and select merge files into one PDF. Similarly, word documents saved to my desktop cannot be converted to PDF by right clicking either.
What I have tried: uninstalling 10.0, repairing Acrobat 9.5.2, running a cleaner to remove 10.0
I would sincerely appreciate to fix this error because uninstalling and reinstalling can only be done by one person here where I work and that person is out for a long time :\

Sorry to hear about the trouble you've had.
I'd recommend running the Acrobat Cleaner tool to remove by Acrobat 9 and X from your system: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
After you've removed both of them, restart your computer, install Acrobat 9.0 from your disc and begin the process of patching it back up to 9.5.2.
I realize the patch process for going from 9.0.0 to 9.5.2 is......time-consuming.  You can shorten it quite a bit by skipping the restarts between each version and only restarting after the last patch.
You can download the patches here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows
