Downgrade back from iOS5.0?

Since upgrading to iOS 5.0, I have been unable to download audiobooks from the library, either through Overdrive or OneClickDigital. I would like to go back to the old iOS until the apps can catch up. How do I go back down?

Unfortunately, we can't or I would be doing it now. The OS5 is definitely not compatible with the 3GS. Safari and apps have slowed down BIG time.

All you have to do to downgrade is plug in your device into iTunes and click restore. Let it do it's thing and you'll be back on 5.1.1. And if that doesn't work. Just search on google for its 5.1.1 for your device and download it. And after that shift then click on restore and browse for your the 5.1.2 firmware (for windows) and Mac use (alt) and click restore. Hope this helps cause I'm sure everybody with an apple device has done so,etching crazy like him so stop judging the man. Or woman.

PLEASE HELP ME??? Lost itunes trying to downgrade back from 11.0 & unable to get itunes to work at all now..

New Itunes setup is the worst one yet!!! I couldn't stand it, so I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling older versions, but now I am unable to get it to work in any version. I have uninstalled & reinstalled several times (trying this with multiple versions). Strange thing is that ever since I uninstalled 11.0 I have not been able to get any of the other versions to open at all.. Sometimes an error message box dings & pops up that says something about how to adjust the volume through your itunes, or unable to open file.. other times when I click on the icon it just does absolutely nothing. Have latest version of iTunes installed and running. Also make sure you have internet access working and can access Apple websites. Also, make sure you don't have any entries in your hosts file referring to gs.apple.com....If your not sure about how to do that, go ahead and do the rest first. You can come back to that later.....Plug in phone. Put phone in DFU mode.(google put iphone in DFU mode for instructions) Then restore the phone in iTunes by highliting your device in the left column and click on the Restore button. The latest iOS version is 4.3.3. That's what iTunes will restore it to. When it's done restoring, iTunes will ask if you want to restore from a backup or setup as a new phone. I would use the Setup as a New Phone option. Once it's done, you should have a clean install of the iOS and an operating phone, as long as there are no hardware issues with it.

And even when I change the format to date-time it still gives the expected result:
I think the app is doing what it is supposed to here. Perhaps you can try entering your formula again and fill right and see if that gives you the result you expect.

Couple of good reads about why Google Maps was removed from iOS 6. Again, I hate Apple's Maps program, and never liked the iPhone Google Maps for directions, always used Mapquest. I think Apple jumped the gun on their Map program, probably could have waited to iOS7. Google is trying to play the "we didnt know" and "we dont know why" card, but iOS6 was in beta since early this year, everyone knew. If Google cared that much, they would have an APP being released soon...

I have had enough of woes with my I-Phone 3G, after upgrading to IOS 4.2.1.
Any way of backtracking to a more stable state? I was fine till IOS 4.1. though the performance was slowing down. Now totally stuck since last 3 days.

Ok, let me tell you what I tried to do. Restore through Itunes didnt work, got a lot of errors mainly pointing to hardware issues. I once managed to get it jailbroken through a friend, and then asked him to reset it completely so I could restore it in Itunes again (I had no compulsive intention to remain jailbroken then, I wish I had not reset it and continued using it in jailbroken mode).So I have just one choice left now...jailbreak. I am just looking for a reply from Apple before I go ahead with jailbreak.Wonder how long my patience will last, 3 days and 4th starting.

There was a bug being reported in one of my apps, but I couldn't replicate it. I tried to downgrade back to 4.3.5 to see if iOS 5 was the reason that I couldn't replicate it, but now my phone is stuck in Recovery Mode.
I have restored Xcode 4.1, iTunes 10.4.1 to remove iOS5 from my mac. Now I'm stuck in the cycle: connect me to iTunes screen -> Preparing to restore -> Unknown error code 1604.
Will I get help at an Apple store? Or do I now just have an expensive door stop?

How can I downgrade to ios4 from ios5? I have a new ipone 4 and allowed itunes to upgrade my to ios5, but it is not yet supported by my email server at work. So i must revert back to ios4. Can someone step me through it?
I dont care if I loose data, there isnt much on the phone, I just want to restore it to when it came from the store!

so this is really a bummer. The camera is horrible on the ios5 and on ios4 the camera was perfect. I sure wish there was a way and WHY doesnt APPLE notice when things arent good and give us a upgrade fixing it ? They upgraded for the people having trouble with battery life which didnt bother me as much as the horrible indoor photos. Sadly, Apple is amazingly good at keeping users from downgrading an iPhone. For some reason, a prior update (5.1.1) bricked my 3GS, and that's how I learned the hard way how firmly Apple had control of the upgrade/downgrad process. I find that annoying, as well as the fact that Apple "pushes" (figureatively and literally) updates on users, many of whom simply update immediately, without realizing there could be a downside. I've been amazed at how many non-techy iPhone using friends have complained to me about maps, and they wish they had never updated to iOS 6.
Anyway, I'm still using iOS 5 on my iPhone 4S, as I just feel too attached to my good old Google-based Map app (and the web version of Google Maps is really very different than the App version -- I tried it, thinking I would finally update my iPhone, but was really dissatisfied with the web version). I do know iOS 6 is superior in many ways, but for now, I am just that attached to my good old Map app.

You would reinstall 10.6 using your installation DVD.
Out of curiosity, how much RAM do you have? Recent versions of OS X really shine with 4GB or more.

I found Google maps to be close to useless, because it was full of errors and couldn't do turn-by-turn navigation, not only not by voice but not even visually. Since iOS 6 I've been using the Apple maps, and it has made a few mistakes (it put a store around the corner from where it actually was in Manhattan), but for most of my needs it is actually usable. I DON'T have to tap the screen when I get to a turn, it knows I'm there, and it speaks the next instruction. And it also shows the road signs I should see, something that Google doesn't do.
And BTW, I'm not alone. There have been a steady stream of complaints about the Google maps app going back 5 years in these forums.

You cannot downgrade your software. The only way you can downgrade your software is by jailbreaking your device (which can be risky if you dont know what your doing). Remember if you are downgrading by jailbreaking it will void your warranty with Apple - and you could run the risk of disabling your device.
However, im not too sure about the YouTube problem, my only guess is that since it is not an original app that comes with the iOS software.
