Downgrade firmware of 4.2.1 2G Ipod Touch to 4.1?
I have an Ipod touch 2G on 4.2.1 firmware. How can I downgrade it to 4.1 firmware? I don't care if its legit or not, just as long as it works.
Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple. We can't help you here.

Problem installing firmware 2.2 on first generation iPod touch 8GB
I recently tried to update my iPod touch from firmware 2.1 to 2.2. However, the install failed and restoring it (to 2.2) failed as well. On a different PC I tried the same. I managed to restore version 1.1.5 of the firmware on it. Unfortunately an upgrade to 2.2 failed on this PC as well.
The symptoms: the software is apparently unpacked correctly and downloaded to the device. However, during the verification stage, the iPod suddenly disconnects and reconnects and iTunes reports an error (error code 6).
Are there known issues with this firmware that can cause this?

Apple Firmware Update 4.1 Destroyed my Ipod Touch
So, I had firmware 3.1.3 on my 3rd gen 32GB Ipod Touch, and I updated to the new firmware (4.1) and now my wi-fi and bluetooth will not work. BECAUSE OF APPLE'S UPDATE. And now I can't get my Ipod Touch back to 3.1.3. I need to know how I can fix this because I'm not spending another $400 because Apple's update ****** up my Ipod Touch.
Yes I have already checked that.
I'm always using my laptop on wireless, so I know my router is working.
And yes, I've tried connecting at a local wifi hotspot.
I looked it up on google, and apparently the problem is commonly known to others as "Greyed-out, no wi-fi" option in the settings on the Ipod.
I also found a couple of online forums where users claimed it's because of jailbreaking? Like hacking the ipod or something?
But I've never done this, and I wouldn't want to considering it would have voided my warranty, yes? -
How can i downgrade my ipod touch 4g to ios 4.3 because i made a mistake of upgrading to ios 5, and i only have 8gb and it takes up basically all my space ! I need help !
Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.
What do you nean by it taking up all yur space? If when connected to the computer is the "other" category very large? If it is then restore the iPod to get it to its normal of about 1/2 GB. Sometimes a restore to factory defaults/new iPod is required. -

That's because the hardware in the 1st gen iPod is not capable of running a newer OS. That is the way it will always be. -
Where is the firmware update for my ipod touch
I recall that there was a firmware update for my 1st Gen Ipod Touch. I did not do it at the time, but would like to do the update now to the most current firmware available for my touch. I am now on version 2.2.1 (5H11) Can anyone tell me where I can find the newer firmware? Is there any benefits to the new firmware or should I just leave it as is?

Nowhere. If you manage to find one, iTunes won’t allow it to be installed, and if you somehow bypass that, the device won’t activate.

Hi. I have an ipod touch 4th generation, it's in perfectly good condition no cracks or anything. The issue is my ipod is locked and i'm not able to type in my passcode because the numeric keypad isn't working properly.For ex. when i hit 8 (which is the second number in my passcode) the number 5 type in. Podcast woes, would like to downgrade firmware iPod nano (4th gen.)

Every since I upgrade my iPod nano to firmware version 1.0.4, I can't seem to make playlists where multiple podcasts play one after the other - in all cases, it plays one podcast, then stops. As I love listening to podcasts during running, this implies that I have to pull out the iPod every time and select a new podcast manually... quite annoying. This even holds for podcast playlists made "on the go" - it plays the first podcast, then stops.
In light of this, I'm wondering whether there's a way to downgrade the firmware, as if I recall correctly, 1.0.3 didn't have this issue. I can't seem to find the firmware anywhere, though, and from going through the discussion forum it doesn't seem to be something supported by Apple. I'd appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this issue, either by pointing out a walkaround, or by indicating whether downgrading firmware is possible at all...

PhilippMy 4th Gen iPod Nano won't turn on once it is off the USB cable. If it is connected to the iMac (iTunes 10.1 (54)) it works perfectly well (synchronizes, plays music). Have tried to reset it (holding the Menu and Center buttons) and to reset it to its original settings (current SW version is 1.0.4) and it still wont work.
Any suggestions? -
Firmware downgrade on iPod Touch 3G 32GB
I just upgraded from an iPod Touch 3G 8GB that had 3.1.2 running on it to a new iPod Touch 3G 32GB that came with 3.1.3 out of the box. I've noticed that there are some things that the 3.1.3 OS just won't do and was wondering if there was any way to downgrade to 3.1.2 on my new iPod. I've got a copy of the 3G's 3.1.2 firmware and attempted to install it in iTunes using the <Shift> + Recovery method, but iTunes refuses to install the older software, giving the error that "this device is not eligible for the requested build".
I just recently downgraded from 3.1.3 to 2.2.1 on my 2nd generation itouch.
I went into DFU mode and did the itunes "Option" restore and picked the new/old software to restore to that I downloaded to my desktop. Now my Wifi works great! 3.1.3 which is being used on the ipad in my opinion is the reason why wifi is sketchy on it. I wish someone would downgrade the ipad to 2.2.1 and then check their wifi signal strength. I would be willing to bet it is in the 3.1.3 that is causing all of the ipad's problems with wifi. Apple told me the same thing " You can't downgrade your itouch". I just proved that is a bunch of Malarkey "Exaggerated or foolish talk, usually intended to deceive: " My two cents.
They just don't want to look bad by everyone going back to 2.2.1
Imagine all of the PC people downgrading from Windows 7 back to XP what an impact that would make to Microsoft. -

I just got a macally microphone for the ipod touch and I found out that it's not compatible with the 3.1.3 firmware. So I have to downgrade to the 3.0 Firmware in order for the mic to work. But that's the problem, it won't let me downgrade at all! I tried holding in shift, then pressing restore. That didn't work. Every time I try to downgrade it says "The ipod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (20)" Does anyone know how to fix this?
If you actually have the 3.0 FW on your computer, you may be able to downgrade by first putting your Touch into "DFU Mode", then use the Shift-Restore technique to select the 3.0 OS file. I won't go into the DFU Mode instructions here, plenty of explanations around here and the web in general. Note that this is not a practice supported by Apple.
