Downgrade from Beta Yosemite to Mavericks

Hello,
I downloaded the Beta version of Yosemite, but I'm finding that some of my apps is not working correctly. How can I downgrade to 10.9?

You could also check the App Store if Yosemite has it out yet. Download it off that.

  • How to downgrade from beta 8 to 1.1.4??

    Hi!
I have a paid iPhone Developer account with beta 8 of the firmware installed. Now that I'm selling my iPhone, I need to downgrade it to 1.1.4.
The problem is that I'm unable to restore 1.1.4 through iTunes 7.7. I get a error code of 20?? I also tried restoring through XCode Organizer and that didn't work either. Getting into recovery mode is as far as I can get...
Any ideas?? The auction ends in 5 days!

As far as I am aware, you can not - at least not without the use of some 3rd party tools. I believe the main problem is the baseband within the phone will have been upgraded to a later version that is supported by 1.1.4, and the iTunes / Xcode updater will not downgrade that.
In the style of the X Files - "you are not alone!"

  • Downgrading from Mac OS X 10.9 to Mac OS X 10.8 originally shipped

    Hello
I purchased thiis MacBook Pro 13.3 inches online from Amazone Last June.
It was shipped with Mac OS X 10.8.
Being prompted, during 28 October 2013 I wanted to download online Mavericks but failed by corrupting my external drive containing all my backups through the time machine.
Then, on 30 October, a local Apple authorized service provider also failed to restore my data but however restored the system and installed Mavericks Developer Recovery Update after installing Mountain Lion.
Now, I want to go back i.e. downgrad from Mac OS X Mavericks to Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 which was originally shipped to me. I do not know if the builtin Mac OS X is still there in the system.
I shall appreciate if anyone comes forward and help me out.
    Thanks.

Try booting using Internet Recovery mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4718
    Backup all your data
Make sure your network has WPA security. This does not work with WEP networks
    Shutdown your machine
Press the power button and hold Command-Option-R
Wait for Internet Recovery to load a list of networks (read the note at the bottom)
    Select your own network
Internet will now download the Mountain Lion recovery image(assuming your mac shipped with it)
    Select Disk Utilities
    Select your Mac disk
Warning! This is your last chance to back out!!!!
    Select the Erase tab
Select Mac OS Extended Journaled and give a name
    Exit out
Select Reinstall Mac OS Mountain Lion
    Follow the instructions
Viola! You have downgraded to Mountain Lion!
    Notes
Sometimes, if the mac already is connected, it will skip the network selection screen
You must erase the disk in order to let the installer continue
Good luck! Tell me how it went

    How downgrade yosemite to mavericks?

    Hello Makito76,

A comment for Apple: the new design is simply pathetically bad. If I wanted minimalism to the extreme, I would buy a VT100 terminal (if you know what that was) and not a Mac.
The new design is unreadable, flat, dull, boring, gray, tiring, washed-out, unfinished, even colors and palettes are unmatched (the bluish icons of folders have the same blue of Windows95, but they are on gray), and worse of all unnecessary. The few pixels that you have gained here and there in borders are paid with making pages totally unreadable.
This is not a new design philosophy or a "forward thinking design" as suggested by some pundits, but just mediocre taste and even worse bad engineering.

  • Roll back from yosemite to mavericks without time machine

    I am currently a user of Retina Macbook Pro late 2013, 13", i5 with 2.4 GHz, 8gb, 1600MHz DDR3.
I faced a huge problem after updating my mac from Mavericks 10.9.5 to Yosemite 10.10, this has caused my mac to running slow, but before updating it was so smooth and worked perfectly.
    - Yosemite causes my mac to be so laggy when scrolling up and down. Sometimes, it crashes all of a sudden when you are just watching a video using Safari.
    - Scrolling through PDF files is so laggy
    - Minimizing Apps is not as smooth as before.
    My Question :
    - How to roll back to mavericks/ downgrade from yosemite to mavericks? provided that i didn't not have a time machine backup. And so far i could not find any installer for mavericks in app store.

No. You need to first erase the drive then install Mavericks. Try backing up your files (Home folder) somewhere. Boot from your Mavericks drive. From it use Disk Utility to erase your Yosemite drive. Clone the Mavericks drive to the drive you just erased. Now restore your data from the backup you made.
Of course if your Mavericks drive also has a current copy of your Home folder from the Yosemite computer, then all you need to do is boot from it, erase the Yosemite drive, clone the Mavericks drive and you're done.

  • Can I still upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mavericks, with Yosemite out?

    Hi there,
my girlfriend is running Snow Leopard (10.6.8 I believe) on a MacBook 2009. Now she finally wanted an upgrade to a newer OS. However, I've read in several reviews that Yosemite is not running very smoothly on some older Macs. So I thought upgrading to Mavericks might be a better deal.
    So my question is:
How can I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mavericks? Apparently you can't do it over the AppStore, since you can now only download Yosemite. Is there another way?
    Thanks!

Nope. Mavericks is no longer available for download unless you had downloaded it in the past. If Yosemite doesn't do well on an older Mac, then neither will Mavericks. Consider rolling back to Snow Leopard.
You may try calling Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. They may be able to help you with getting Mavericks for now.

  • Downgrade from Yosemite using Time Machine

    Hi,
I am planning on downgrading from Yosemite back to Mavericks because of the fonts/resolution debacle, I am partially sighted and use the Accessibility function Zoom and the thin, grey blurry fonts are made worse by the magnification process  which means I am having great difficulty just doing simple things like reading emails and using Finder windows, I have tried checking the 'Increase contrast' option in Accessibility>Display and the 'Use LCD font smoothing...' option all to no avail, if only Zoom worked like 'pinch to zoom' in Safari (I use a trackpad).
Anyway my question concerns using a Time Machine backup to downgrade, I have two external HDDs one for TM backups the other containing my iTunes media folder which is also backed up by TM,  can I disconnect the iTunes media folder HDD before I restore from TM or will there be an issue if TM has to also restore the iTunes media folder ?
    I hope this makes sense.
    Thanks in advance
    Pete

If you upgraded to iTunes 12, there may be a problem with iTunes media if you didn't have iTunes 12 in Mavericks.

PSE12 became a 64 bit app for the first time on Mac. The recommended system requirements are Mac OS X v10.7 through v10.8.
Are you not able to use lion or Mountain Lion?

  • How to downgrade yosemite to mavericks

Hi i would like to know if its possible to downgrade Yosemite to Mavericks on my late 2009 macbook because i only have 2gb of ram and its really slow. Thanks!

That is what I'm about to do. I have a disc for snow leopard... not sure if I have the disc for mountain lion or if it was a download... before I do anything I will check. I'm hoping I can download whichever ones I need before I start, put them on an external drive and then do what this person did. I didn't care for Mavericks... it couldn't have been so great if it got replaced and is not available now. Kinda telling.
I'm ****** with this upgrade. Nothing can convince me that Apple didn't know older machines wouldn't adapt to this upgrade but there wasn't a warning or "system requirements" check that SHOULD happen automatically.
And... I HAVE 4GB of RAM and it's still crap.
It has turned Safari into an unusable app. The bluetooth mouse no longer works right. Trying to watch videos on youtube is impossible. I click "play" and it does something else entirely.
I'm going back to SL, then ML... and as far as I can go before I get fracked by this monstrosity of an "upgrade."

There is no reason to be running beta software, I doubt it will even still run as iOS 6 has been officially released.  Or were you simply trying to be funny?
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • Downgrade from  NCo 2.0 Beta to 1.02

    Hallo,
I want to downgrade from version 2 beta to version 1.02. Are there any known problems concerning this procedure ?
Or is it just enough to uninstall version 2 completly and install version 1.02 afterwards.
    Best regards,

    Thank you for your answer.
I´ve tested it last week on an extra PC. No problems occurred since then.

  • Downgrading from Mavericks to Snow Leopard, can't boot from USB drive

I'm attempting to do a clean install of Snow Leopard on a 2010 Macbook. The MB had recently been upgraded to Mavericks, but because it was running slowly, I decided to downgrade. (If you respond to this post, please don't ask me why I'd make this decision.)
As with any other clean install I've done--all pre-Mountain Lion--I backed everything up, I created a .dmg file of the Snow Leopard, and made a perfectly good, bootable USB drive with the OS (1 partition, GUID table); I tested this USB drive on another Macbook, one currently running Snow Leopard, by holding option as I booted up. It works fine and gets to the installation screen.
I booted the Mavericks Macbook while holding command+r, and I erased the main HD. I then formatted it with 1 partition, with a GUID table. All was normal.
But here's where the problem starts. I plugged the USB drive into the formerly Mavericks computer, and held option for the bootloader. It recognizes the OS. But when I click the arrow to proceed, it inevitably has a kernel panic and tells me to restart the computer.
I re-made my bootable drive, and I tested it again on the other machine. Again, it's still fine. Plugged it into my main machine--again, a panic.
Using command+r to reach disk utility, I've now erased and repartitioned the computer's hard drive several times, even using the advanced-security erase feature. Still, the panic.
When I hold command+r at boot, it always forces me through the Internet Recovery. The only option offered to reinstall OS X is with Lion, which I didn't buy with my Apple ID.
    What can I do?

Sorry, but this didn't help me. From what I gather, Mavericks (or maybe Mountain Lion) included a firmware update that, for some reason, prevents users from downgrading to anything before Lion. This makes things difficult, because I didn't buy Lion--I made the leap from SL to Mavericks.
Here's the strange part, I learned: When I enter Internet Recovery, I'm prompted to reinstall Lion, not Mavericks. And because I didn't buy Lion, my Apple ID/password, which are asked for, don't help.
Anyone else with suggestions? None of my USB-based installations are working, and I'm feeling out of luck. I don't want to spend money at the Apple store...
