Downgrade from Dreamweaver CS4 to Cs3?

Is there any way to downgrade from Dreamweaver CS4 to CS3?
I've looked all over and can't find anything on this subject. (I
tried to find a new copy of CS3, but encountered a host of problems
of one description or another, and I don't want to pirate a
copy...although it's depressing to think piracy would be the
easiest method...)
Thanks.

Sorry, Jo - didn't see your reply.

  • Problems upgrading from Dreamweaver 4 to CS3

The website I manage is www.episcopal-dallas.org. Today, I
upgraded from Dreamweaver 4 to CS3. In Design view, I can edit
about half of the pages, but those of the other half (including the
index/home page) have gray backgrounds (with a few exceptions that
have white), and, although I can make changes in the code, I cannot
edit them in Design view. The cursor forms the universal "nicht"
sign — circle with a diagonal slash through it. I can't find
any commonality between the ones that I can edit and the ones I
    can't.
Also, on some of the pages, the navigation panel that is
supposed to be on the left side has ended up above the text of the
main body of the page. Manuals I have say nothing about upgrading
    existing websites.

You should never have to do this.
I hope your understanding of this doesn't cause further
    problems for you.

I upgraded from Dreamweaver CS4 to CS6. but now when I want to upload I get "an TFP error occured - cannot make connection to host". I spent hours with the host technician and we cant find the error. I reinstalled DW4 and it connects to host perfectly. Anyone else seen this problem?
    Mac OS 10.8.5
None of these issues are causing the error in DW CS6. We have double checked all of them and we have everything exactly right. Also I have exactly the same SiteSetup in DW CS4 and that works perfectly well. Could there must be factor in 6 that didn't exist in 4? Something that isnt in the SiteSetup but in some hidden dialog box ?
I can also upload to my host using Fetch, a third party FTP. And as I said DW CS4 works fine. So the problem is not with my host, its with DW CS6 in particular.

Thank you Jon, that fixed it perfectly. You have saved me from going crazy. The only difference I see now is in "Server Name" it changed what I had entered (my ftp address) to "Remote Server"; which seems odd -- but it works!   Although I know there maybe also some other dialog box I have never seen
Of course I saw that menu item "Import"  and but I thought thats obviously not for me: "Why would I want to import an entire website?". I did not however see "Export the selected site" for thats only a tiny icon in the footer. However I would have thought the same:  "Why would I want to export my entire website?".
An observation: I've seen this problem in a lot of Adobe software, the menu-names of items are  obscure, non descriptive. What would be better would be for the menu names or popups to say "Export Site Setup settings" and "Import Site Setup settings"

  • How do I go about transferring files from Dreamweaver CS4 to Dreamweaver CC?

How do I go about transferring
files from Dreamweaver CS4 to Dreamweaver CC?

If both versions are on the same hard drive, simply tell DW CC where your site files are located on your hard drive.  Go to Site > New Site and define your site.

  • Importing site info from Dreamweaver 8 to CS3

I am thinking about moving from Dreamweaver 8 to Dreamweaver
CS3. I have roughly 10 sites that I edit and update. I am wondering
if there is a way to import the site information from 8 to CS3
(meaning the FTP info, folders, etc).
    Thanks for the help,
    Joe

I have a similar issue. I had CS4 installed on my machine with about 20 sites/ftp info etc saved into it. My computer had a complete meltdown and I had to rebuild the computer. I have installed CS4 onto the new hard drive and I was able to save the old hard drive (it was unstable though and safer to start fresh). Is it possible to have my installation of CS4 grab the site information from a different drive on my machine? I was hoping it would just find it when I installed the software, but no such luck.
I tried "importing sites" but I could find any .ste files that it was looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It will take a long time to re-input all of those sites.

  • How do I transfer or access my personal dictionary from Dreamweaver CS4 to CC CS6

I have spent years building up a personal medical dictionary in Dreamweaver CS4 and have recently updated to Creative Cloud team CS6 (and about to update again) but I can't seem to get my new version to recognise my personal dictionary (it was created via: 'Command/Check Spelling/Add to Personal)

Locate the "Personal Dictionary MX.tlx" file on your computer. You can search hidden files and folders to find this file, or browse to the directory.
    Windows Vista and Windows 7:Users\[your login]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\Common.
    Windows XP:Documents and Settings\[your login]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\Common.
    Mac OS X: the path is Macintosh HD:Users:[your login]:Library:Application Support:Adobe:Dreamweaver CS4:Common
1.Launch Dreamweaver CS6 and see what language you have the dictionary set to . Edit > Preferences > General > Spelling Dictionary > Take note of what it is set to.
    2. Navigate to C:\Users\UsernameAppData\LocalLow\Adobe\Linguistics\UserDictionaries\Adobe Custom Dictionary\{locale}\added.txt
Paste the contents from the "Personal Dictionary MX.tlx" to "added.txt"

  • Downgrading from Flash CS4 to Flash CS3 possible?

Hi, I have just bought the whole Creative Suite 4 Master Collection as I need most of the programs as a freelancer. Now I have just the task to debug a Flash CS3 project, but somehow it is definitely not possible to compile the main fla with CS4. Thus I would like to "downgrade" Flash to CS3. Is this possible?

No, I have just bought CS4 and used Flash 8 and the Flash CS3 trial before. I still have the trial installation on my system, but it has expired since quite a while.
Is there not any chance to acquire a Flash CS3 Serial number somehow? I urgently need it, since the project I'm working on actually cannot be compiled using CS4 though it should, regarding the amount of money I spend on this software...
P.S. I will NOT buy a second license of the old Flash, just for that purpose! Are you kidding me?

  • Downsaving from Indesign CS4 to CS3

We just got several new G5 iMacs and we put CS4 Design Premium on them. On the rest of our iMacs we have CS3 Design Premium. When we down save, the text comes out fine, but when saving files with pictures, the pictures do not show up when we open the INX file. Has anyone had this problem, or know a solution to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you want people to have access to the image, you need to provide the images. Package the InDesign file, then export the INX. Also export a PDF so people can see what, if any, text reflow occurred or what CS4 features were lost in translation.

  • Can I downgrade from Dreamweaver CC to CS6?

Do you know if I can downgrade my current version of Dreamweaver CC to CS6?  I'm totally frustrated with Dreamweaver CC!  You can't do anything in this damn program.  nothing works.  When I look at all the tutorials and examples online with CS6 I am pulling my hair off my head because I can't do any of what the tutorials are trying to teach you because CC is totally different, and nothing works.  it's the worst program I ever bought in my life.

Yes, as a Cloud member, you have access to CS6.

  • 3.6.10 no longer lets me preview sites from Dreamweaver CS4 - my bug or theirs?

I updated my Mozilla Firefox browser via the automatic updates the other day, and I can no longer use Firefox to preview pages designed in Dreamweaver.
The other browsers still work, just this one.

There is a fix for Dreamweaver, so it works in Firefox 3.6+ versions:
    http://solutions.marketingmedley.com/
There is a $5.00 fee for that Dreamweaver fix. That website and the fix are not associated with Mozilla in any manner. Support for that fix is provided by that that website via email.

  • Menus.xml issue when trying to launch Dreamweaver CS4

I have used Dreamweaver CS4 for many years on my Mac. I had a drive failure and have had to reload all of my applications from scratch as there seemed to be an issue with the Time Machine back up. Everything is working well apart from Dreamweaver CS4 which brings up an error message telling me to delete my menus.xml file and rename menus.bak to menus.xml which just doesn't work.
I have checked and this has been asked before but none of the previous answers that I could find will work for me. Any new ideas?

One issue appears to be that Dreamweaver has loaded the help and configurations files into a folder in applications rather than in application support. I do not have a Dreamweaver CS4 folder anywhere in applications support under my identity or than of the loacl admin.
You need to turn on your hidden folders to see it.

  • Disabling community search in Dreamweaver CS4

I've looked through every configuration window, and searched around, but can find no way to remove the community search box from Dreamweaver CS4. It wouldn't be so bad, but since the beta, and even to this point the search box in question is surrounded by a horrible peach box and makes the window title bar and menu misaligned.
Does anyone know how I can turn this off, or at least when (if not already) it will be fixed? Thanks.

Unfortunately neither seem to be the issue here. My clean install comes from a Microsoft-supplied ISO, with no branding or addon installs whatsoever. My video drivers are also up to date also and yet the problem remains.
I have finally managed to track down what appears to be the problem. It's not video drivers, but the colour profile that apparently causes this problem. The following comes from a Dreamweaver engineer who researched the problem:
There is a color profile "TPFLX.ICM" that fixes the problem with the color being
    off.
It is interesting in the steps to install this Monitor file it does
not explicitly reference which color profile to use
    18. Select TPLCD.ICM
or TPFLX.ICM and click the Add button.
I am guessing TPFLX is for the
    Quadro FX 570M Adapter
Here are the instructions on how to install this
    from the Lenovo site.

  • Login & passwords dreamweaver cs4

I recently moved my computer from a domain to workgroup set up.  (Hence had to copy alll my document settings from one folder under documents and settings to another).  I'm assuming this is the reason why all my FTP logins and passwords have dissapeared.  All the FTP info is, however, still there.
    Does anyone know
    a)where the passwoards are stored?
    b) If I can recover them
    c) if thats not the reason what else could be going on?
    Thanks!

So you would be working in ASP/VBScript. In DW CS4? Here's a statement you may be interested in -
Nov 3, 2011 – NET, JSP, or ASP (JavaScript) Server Behaviors in Dreamweaver ... NET and JSP server behaviors were removed from Dreamweaver CS4, and ASP ... so they're available on an "as-is" basis and are not officially supported.
This means that any VBScripting you would need to do to connect the page to the database, would need to be done manually. Do you have those skills?
