Downgrade from windows 7 ultimate to home

I recently bought a laptop and unknowingly that the lisance would run out (30day trail) and I dont have the money to buy the full ultimate addition and unable to return to seller I am wondering if i could just buy a windows 7 home now that the trail has
run out?

Which edition is listed on the COA sticker at the bottom of the laptop?
If its licensed for Windows 7, then do the following:
Download the corresponding edition of Windows 7 you have a license for from the following link. You can identify the edition on COA sticker attached to your machine, with at bottom or battery compartment (laptop) or top/side if its a desktop computer.

Once you have installed it, all you need to do is change the product key located on the Certificate of Authenticity (COA). Lets take a look at how to do that.
Click Start, right click Computer
Click Properties
Scroll down to Windows activation.
You will notice it displays a time until Activation but be completed. Also the Product ID indicates it is using a default key, this is only for the 30 day grace period allowed until you must activate Windows 7.
Click the link, Change product key
Enter the product key located on the COA sticker located at the bottom or (sometimes in the battery compartment of your laptop), you can also find it at the top or side if its a Desktop computer.  It looks something like the following:
Proceed to enter the product key and click Next
Wait while Windows attempts to activate.
If all goes well, within a minute, you should see this screen.
You can further confirm Windows 7 is activated by checking the Windows Activation status:
Notice Windows 7 now displays OEM within the Product ID to indicate the product channel it is licensed from. Please note, this also works with Windows Vista if you are still running that version.
If you are unable to activate Windows 7 using the Change product key method, you can try phone activation and speak with a call agent who will assist with reactivating Windows 7:
How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)
1) Click Start, and in the Search box type:   slui.exe  4
2) Next press the ‘ENTER’ key
3) Select your ‘Country’ from the list.
4) Choose the ‘Phone Activation’ option.
5) Stay on the phone (do not select/press any options) and wait for a person to help you with activation.
6) Explain your problem clearly to the support person.

I see others on this forum have had similar problems going back to windows 7. I tried some of their driver solutions that were posted, but to no avail. Can I get some help? Maybe some links to where I can find drivers to help me? Windows update cannot find and automatically install replacement drivers.

    Hi:
Looking at the hardware specs for your model you should be able to use all of the W7 x64 drivers and software from the HP Probook 450 G2 on your model except the BIOS and firmware files.
Your model uses the Intel HD graphics driver and the Realtek RTL8188EE wireless card driver.

  • T430 - Trouble to downgrade from Windows 8x64 to Windows 7x64 Ultimate

    Hi,
Just bought a brand new T430, the model number is LENOVO 2342CTO and the BIOS is G1ET73WW.  I'm trying to downgrade from  Windows 8x64 to Windows 7x64 Ultimate.  I first disabled the "OS Optimized" option then I pressed the F9 key to load default configuration in BIOS.  The Secure Boot is disabled, the UEFI/Legacy Boot is set to "both."  During the installation, the laptop restarted several times but the installation process was always able to continue.  After Windows 7x64 ultimate completes the installation, W7 restarts my laptop.  When the laptop restarts up, I see the Lenovo Logo and then the laptop restarts again.  I am able to install Windows XPx64 and run it fine though.  What's going on here?  Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

That seems to be an advanced format drive (4k bytes per sector).
If you are installing from a Win 7 DVD, it will say SP1 (service pack 1) on the label.  If it's a downloaded ISO, it will depend on where you got it.
I'm not at all sure that non-SP1 vs. advanced format is the problem here.  It's just something to check.
You can download a Win 7 ISO that's SP1.  Google "legal windows 7 download notebook review:"
Again, I'm not saying this is the problem, but lacking another answer, may be worth a try.

  • HP m6-1225dx downgrade from Windows 8 to 7

    Hi everyone,
I just purchased a ENVY m6-1225dx that came with Win8 and I'm trying to downgrade to Win7 but not having any success. I formatted the HDD and doing a clean install. The setup completes almost all the steps successfully but then gives me an error at the end saying "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation". This message is different than one I was getting previously that said something along the lines of Windows could not be installed on this hardware. I called HP and the technician and manager were both no help at all. They didn't even want to answer a single question and straight away told me that I should contact Microsoft because it's not HP's problem. Can anyone please help me resolve this? It will be greatly appreciated!

  • Satellite C650-191 - Downgrade from Windows 7 to XP?

Can I downgrade to Windows XP from Windows 7 on this model Satellite C650-191?
    many thanks for any help

    Hey,
Theoretically everything is possible because its your notebook and you can install what you want :)
Such a direct downgrade from Windows 7 to XP is not possible, therefore you have to do a new clean installation. Downgrade is not supported.
So you have to remove Windows 7 and then you can install XP.
I have checked the Toshiba driver download page and it seems your model supports XP. That means are all drivers available:

  • Downgraded from Windows 7 To XP: is eligible for Windows 7?

    Hi,

Genuine Windows XP Professional - English (Downgraded from Windows 7 Professional)
Is it eligible for upgrade to Windows 7 back? I'm interesting in 64-bit version.
    Thanks,

Yes, it does.  In theory you're buying Windows Seven, which included the right to downgrade to Windows XP.  Lenovo has conviently done this already.  If you can find a Windows disc, the key on your machine should work to install Windows Seven.  Good Luck.

  • Connect from windows vista ultimate to oracle 8i

    Hello,
I need connect oracle 8i from windows vista ultimate, how to make this
    thanks for all
i am spanish, sorry for my expresion

I too have a problem with Oracle 8 and Vista (Business). We have many different Oracle platforms administered by many different agencies. One platform is 10g insisting encrypted ODBC connection and the other is 8.x that cannot handle encrypted requests. In the past we just ran 2 or more versions of Oracle client and associated the version's ODBC to the Oracle platform's version. But with Vista there are no 8.x or 9.x Vista compatible clients thus I can only have the Vista machine to connect to one and not the other. There are problems when trying to use a Windows 2000 or XP client versions in Vista.
Anyone have a work around? When I try to change the SQL.ORA on a Vista 10g client to a 8.x db to use "REQUESTED" instead of "REQUIRED" encryption call I get the [Oracle][ODBC] Ora-03134: Connection to this server version no longer support.

  • How can I downgrade my windows 7 Ultimate to windows 7 home premium?

I have installed Windows 7 ultimate on my new computer, but I do not have a product key for it. I would like to install Windows 7 home premium, I have a product key for W7 HP, but I am worried I will loose all of my programs! Is there any way to keep my
programs and boot with home premium? Thanks!

You can't install Windows without a valid product key in the first place.
If you've installed Windows, which didn't ask for a product key, you may be using a pirated copy of Windows.
But I appreciate your move to use your own license.
As v-yamliu says, yopu need to perform a clean install only.
To preserve the user settings and files (all programs may not work properly if copied, requiring reinstallation), you can use Windows Easy Transfer. Follow the links for reference:

  • Downgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 Ultimate

My new laptop came with Windows 8.1 preinstalled.  Not crazy about 8.1 and would prefer to downgrade to Windows 7 if programs & data on old laptop cannot be migrated to my new laptop.  The only Windows 7 software I have is the 7 Ultimate upgrade disk.  Can it be done, and how?

*****Disclaimer*****HP doesn't recommend the installation of Windows 7 on a computer shipped with Windows 8, nor will it support the installation of Windows 7. HP may not provide Windows 7 drivers and suitable drivers may not be available for the hardware in the computer. Also, Windows 7 may not support some of the hardware or software features designed for the computer. Make sure you create your HP Recovery Discs or USB Flash Recovery media before modifying or changing ANYTHING. The screen shots below are from an HP 15t-j100 notebook computer... the options and configuration screens on your computer may differ. You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "BIOS Secure Boot configuration" on the settings page similar to what is shown below, before you can attempt to install Windows 7;  After saving the changes, the computer will request that you confirm the changes... Accept the changes by typing the four digit code and pressing the "ENTER" key.  If are you are installing Windows 7 from a USB stick and see a "Load Driver - a required CD/DVD drive device is missing" message, this is because "System Configuration" > "USB3.0 Config in Pre-Boot" is set to "Enabled". This must be set to "Auto", if this option exists.  Additionally, as the factory hard drive is partitioned as GPT, you must boot from a UEFI boot source to install Windows on a GPT partitioned disk. Turn on or reboot the computer and tap "F9" or "ESC" and then "F9" when prompted. Highlight the UEFI boot source you are using and press "ENTER".  I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best intallation experience. If the DVD refuses to boot as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (may require DISABLING "Fast Boot" in the BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid UEFI enabled USB Flash drive if it is formated as NTFS and may require a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installer, or WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, as it has options for "GPT partition scheme for UEFI computer" and "FAT32". From the top...Download f6flpy-x64.zip, extract the files/folders and place on a seperate USB Flash Drive.1)  Turn on the computer and immediately start tapping the "ESC" key.2)  When the MENU comes up, press the "F10" key.3)  Navigate the BIOS to "System Configuration", "USB 3.0 Config in Pre-OS" and set to "Auto".4)  Navigate the BIOS to  "System Configuration", "Boot Options" and set "Secure Boot" to "Disabled" and set "Legacy Support" to "Enabled".5)  Press "F10" and click "YES" to "Exit Saving Changes"6)  Computer should restart and display "Operating System Boot Mode Change"... type the four digit code and press "ENTER".7)  Let Windows 8 boot-up and place the Windows 7 SP1media in the DVD drive or USB port, then log-off / shutdown.8)  Turn on the computer and immediately start tapping the "ESC" key.9)  When the MENU comes up, press the "F9" key and then select the correct UEFI boot source (Internal CD/DVD drive, USB CD/DVD drive, USB Flash drive, etc.)... Press any key to boot CD/DVD, if prompted.10)  Select "Language", "Time / Currency", and "Keyboard" settings and then click "Next"11)  Click "Install Now"... check "Accept Terms" and click "Next". Click "Custom (Advanced)". 12)  You may need to supply Intel SATA/RAID drivers at this time...  Insert the USB Flash drive with the previously extracted Intel SATA\RAID drivers.13)  Follow all prompts and answer as needed. Enter Windows 7 key when requested. Please post (just the text) the Windows Device Manager's "Hardware Ids" all missing and/or unknown devices, as shown in the example below and we can direct you to the proper drivers;  If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Please click the White KUDOS "Thumbs Up" to show your appreciation
