Downgrade to Tiger from 10.5 w/ Windows partition

My Mac Mini came with Tiger, but I have since upgraded to Leopard. Leopard has been running slowly and I've been considering downgrading to Tiger. But, I'm worried about what might happen to my Windows partition. Will it be erased or will it even run at all?

First things first - there should be little appreciable difference in system performance between Tiger and Leopard, so unless you are running with minimal memory or running multiple applications, it might be worthwhile looking at why your system is running slowly under MacOS 10.5.x and try and resolve that rather than downgrade to Tiger.
That said, downgrading to Tiger is not difficult, and does not endanger your Windows partition. However, since you already have a later version of MacOS on the drive, you can't simply install an earlier one because the installer will baulk at doing so. You simply need to ensure that all your data is backed up, and then boot to the Tiger installer. Select the custom 'erase and install' option and ensure you pick the current MacOS partition to install onto. Once Tiger is installed, you'll get the same initial setup assistant that ran when the system was first put into service, and once you have completed that, you can install your software and restore your data from backup. As long as you do not repartition the drive, and ensure you direct the MacOS installer to the MacOS partition to erase and install on to, your Windows partition will not be affected.

Downgrading to Tiger from Leopard on a mac mini 2.0ghz

I just purchased a mac mini 2.0ghz that came with Leopard.
Since I am relatively new to the MAC world, I assumed that I could immediately replace Leopard with Tiger on the HD using a set of mac mini install discs I had previously purchased on eBay (I'm doing this because this mini was going to be used exclusively to run ProTools - which isn't Leopard compatible)
From the little bit I've read, it looks like I may have made a $800 mistake. Most places are saying that it it absolutely impossible to downgrade from Leopard to Tiger on this late model.
Is that really true? I just find it so hard to believe that the hardware and software are so tied together that you can't ever go 'backward' even if you want to.
Could someone please state clearly once and for all if there is any possible way to downgrade or do I need to throw my new mac mini in the proverbial trash can and chalk this one up for the experience?

This issue was raised by another poster very recently (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1497891&tstart=0). Typically Macs cannot be booted from MacOS versions which predated the release of the hardware, or subsequent firmware update perhaps, but since Leopard was not released until after the current Core 2 Duo minis, it goes without saying that at least some of these systems did in fact have Tiger installed.
If Apple have made no hardware or firmware changes to the mini (and it's a big if, because typically that information is not made available), then Tiger should install and run fine on your system, proving only that the Tiger installer you have is actually from a 'late 2007' Intel mini.
The only way you'll know is to insert the Tiger installer you have, and boot the system holding the C key down (you will need a wired USB keyboard which is NOT one of the new aluminium type). If the system boots, then you should be able to do an install. Bear in mind that you will almost certainly get an error stating you cannot install that version of MacOS on the system because it will detect that you have a later version of MacOS already installed than on the install disk. That's normal. You can get around that by clicking the 'options' button on the installer and selecting 'erase and install', which wipes the hard drive and installs MacOS.
If the system will not boot from the Tiger install disk, then in effect that would confirm that you will not be able to regress the macOS version - at least not by any conventional means. There are always some who investigate and find ways to work around some of these limitations, so there may be an unofficial and unsupported workaround out there, but there would be no way to know how stable it would be, and whether you would be able to successfully update it.

IMac G4 / "Downgrading" to Tiger from Leopard / Installing(?) OS 9/Classic

Hey guys, I have an old iMac G4 (1.0 GHz, 17") that I bought used - it's in great shape, but it has been upgraded to Leopard 10.5.8 and I don't have the original discs. I got the computer because I have several programs I'd like to run via OS 9 "Classic" mode (mostly for nostalgia's sake). I have the following questions:
1. Is it possible to somehow "downgrade" the computer to Tiger 10.4.11 using a full retail disc? I am perfectly willing to wipe the entire machine - there is nothing essential on it.
2. If that is possible, would I then need to find a full retail copy of OS 9 for Classic mode to run, or is this built-in/included in the full version of 10.4?
3. If none of the above are possible (or practical), are there legitimate, stable emulators(?) out there that I can download/purchase to run old applications that require OS 9 on the G4 and/or a more modern Intel-based iMac? If so, could you recommend some?

Just erase the HD & install Tiger using the retail installer. After you install the base 10.4.x, update to the final Tiger version 10.4.11. Here's the link for the 10.4.11 combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
If you just want to run classic mode while booted in Tiger, just copy the System Folder containing OS 9.2.1 or 9.2.1 from another Mac & transfer to your iMac. OS 9 is not included on the Tiger installer.

Downgrade C55-A5190 from 8.1 to 7

I am trying to downgrade a new laptop that came with Windows 8.1 to Windows 7. I can get it to boot the 7 installation, but get a message that a driver is missing. I have gone through the hardware an gotten most of the drivers from various places, most from the vendor themselves. One of the few drivers I cant find is the ACPI x64-based PC driver. If I can get the installation finished, then I can get all of the rest of the drivers with out much issue.

I'm probably going to return my c55-A5190. I contacte microcenter about it last night.
While writing a detailed account of my experience with Toshiba selling me a notbook with a defective processor and BIOS and their poor customer support, I discovered this link: http://support.toshiba.com/support/viewContentDetail?contentId=4005866
It appears that this BIOS update, although missing from the official C55-A5190 support page, may be able to correct the ACPI errors. However, I'm not sure if I should apply this update.

Can I reinstall Tiger from Leopard on iMac G-5 without loosing data? I would like to use OS9 again.

keep in mid that archive and install downgrade suggested above doesn't give you the option to preserve users settings. this means that you'll have to go through account setup again. You old home directory should be buried somewhere in the previous system folder (see this [link|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107297]).

Downgrading my 9300 from OS 6 to 5?

How can I downgrade my device from the OS6 to OS5? I've tried to download the device software, but I can't even see the OS5 on the update device menu in my desktop manager. Please help me.

If you want to downgrade your device to OS 5 ,try it manually.You had to download an OS pack from Carrier site ,or try this :
1.Download the OS 5 you from here and Install it in your PC or Laptop Carriers or Telefonica
(make sure you are downloading for the same model as you have )
2. Download and install the latest BlackBerry desktop software from here BlackBerry desktop software
Then if it allow perform your backup of your device.
3.Search your C: drive for Vendor.xml and delete them, there may be one or two vendor.xml ( On your Pc change your folders option to show hidden files/folders ) :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
C:\Users\Windows UserName\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
4. Use BBSAK from http://bbsak.org/ and wipe the device then after you get the error 507 ( no OS ) then proceed to next step.
5. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. (For 64-bit Vista or Windows 7, the path will be C: > Program Files x86 > Common Files > Research In Motion > AppLoader) double click Loader.exe.
Upgrade will continue then After Installation of New OS 5 restore your backup from BlackBerry desktop

How to downgrade to Tiger

I have a G4 PowerBook which is upgraded to Leopard -> too slow.
I want to downgrade to Tiger.
I would do a full install:
Concern: how can I get all email messages back to mail in Tiger?

I have just gone through the same process - unhappy with Leo on my ageing iBook G4- and reverted to Tiger. I saved the 'Mail' folder from Leopard's ~/Library before downgrading. I have just tried substituting the Leo ~Library/Mail for Tiger's and some messages didn't get imported. I couldn't see any rhyme or reason for the discrepancies. Many of my pop messages were re-downloaded - but not all(?) - and my IMAP a/c didn't seem to import any messages. One pop a/c was completely empty. As I'd ascertained that I could afford to lose many of the messages before the downgrade and copied those that I couldn't into textedit files it wasn't particularly important to me whether or not it worked. I have now put back the Tiger ~Library/Mail folder. Some pop messages were re-downloaded & duplicated but nothing was lost in the trial.
Interestingly the 'Import Mailboxes' facility failed to find any importable messages in Leopard's Mail folder. Go figure.

Downgrade to Tiger

We are experiencing horrible problems with InDesign CS3 and Leopard. Seems the way round it is to downgrade to Tiger. Can anyone tell me if I can do that on one of the new Eight Core Macs and also a 2.8Ghz iMac.

Not quite. You can go back to whatever system was ever offered or your machine, not your particular instance. e.g. Lepord comes out, now all macs shipping come preinstalled with 10.5 and have a 10.5 install disc. But the week before those same machines were running Tiger and came with Tiger install discs. So they'll work if yoiu can find a set. But, most folks thinking about this likely are doing so to having run Tiger on their mac so have their own.
As for my own downgrade attempt, its run amuck for an unexpected reason. I saved (tolerated a disk failure in my backup system during the process) did an erase install of 10.4.10 from my install disc 1 (cutting out pretty much every option for extra stuff since I didn't get disc 2). Then pulled back my user dir and applications and so on.
All was fine, with 3rd party apps GoLIve CS2, Canvas X, MS Office 2004, Skype, VLC, cisco VPN. the killer was Apple mail and iPhoto. Mail 2.0 that comes with 10.4.10 worked and read/sent mail and processed rules correctly. But the prferencs form 3.0 (that comes with 10.5 are not readable by 2.0 and this seems quite dangerous despite basic functions seeming to be ok. Allowing a fresh prefs for 2.0 would mean inputting my account info again, which I was too lazy to do.
iPhoto is a bigger issue as iPhoto6 is not available and iPhoto 7 won't run under 10.5 . So I have no saved iPhoto that will work in a 10.4 env now, even if iPhoto 6 could read the photo lib after iPhoto 7 is done with it having run 10.5 .
So I gave up and reinstalled 10.5. My problems with it still presist but maybe with future updates....

Tiger to Leopard... Need to re-install Windows Partition?

Hi everyone,
I'm running Tiger right now and I am going to buy Leopard soon. Judging from all the problems people are having. I have decided I am going to do an Erase and Install. However, I'm running Boot Camp under Tiger right now. If I do an Erase and Install, will that effect my current Boot Camp partition? Do I need to re-install Windows again or will Leopard see that its a separate partition and leave it in tack?

Can't access recent Emails from mail tile in window 8.1. Everything working fine until yesterday. I can get my Emails by going to google Chrome and accessing my gmail but I like just hitting the mail tile in 8.1. Also is the start
of something bad onmy computer?

SAP R/3 4.7 Migration from HP-UX to Windows

Modified at two places in dialog.xml file, the SAP note doesn't mention "1100" in Dialog.xml as it currently shows in my Dailog.xml ,Not sure if I have to remove that too and start the import again from begening.
While export I had given "1100" as the code page and before starting import I modified the xml by removing the "Type numeric" and later during the import in selection field I couldn't enter the "MDMP" as it is allowing only numeric values.

Migrating from SBS 2011 to Windows Server 2012R2 Standard with 365

Im looking to move SBS 2011 to Server 2012R2 standard and with a 365 migration as well.

Now this is where I get lost, now Im lost to use either dirsync or add essentials service, I have gone for standard and 30 cals with the option as I have 28 users and the essentials service would make everything quite nice for remote access and backups
etc.... however I don't know whether to just use dirsync with password replication instead ?
Currently Im aiming towards getting the dc up and running then enabling essentials on the dc but I dont know how it will effect SBS and having essentials on the same network and sync'ing people to the cloud ? So Should I use DirSync on a different server
instead to sync up to azure ?
Finally with 365 I have only ever done a migration involving an export of pst's from an exchange box and then on a new domain with new pc's and reimport the pst's on the user accounts in outlook.
However I have read when migrating to 365 was using exchange 2010 there was a application
to move everything across however you needed an ssl cert iirc ? so I dont know how it works now since the nice new dashboard upgrade (assuming the tool has been updated like dirsync)
along with the above how does AD now know where exahcnge if you use the migration app with an ssl cert and is it a case of still running the 365 config tool to configure each user to look at their mail in the
cloud ? Also is it a good idea to enable essentials from the start of the 2012r2 dc for replication top 365 or to use dirsync ?
then finally when replications is all good start transferring the FSMO roles over to the new DC and demote and remove the SBS server

I’m a little confused with the description. Did you mean that set up DC (Windows Server 2012 Standard) and
then install the Windows Server Essentials Experience role? If so, when you migrate, please refer to the article:

Cannot delete itunes from pc,message states. a network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\windows\installer\itunes.msi

ITUNES WILL NOT DELETE FROM ADD @ REMOVE PROGRAMS,
MESSAGE, READS a network error occured while attempting to read from the file C:WINDOWS\installer\iTunes.msi

All sorted now just needed to repair itunes from control panel

After updating on my mac - I cannot open various password protected pages - like my WordPress site. I can open them from Safari and from Firefox on my windows pc.

after updating firefox , it won't allow input of password on various sites - like my wordpress admin page. I can access this page from safari and from firefox on my windows pc.

I cannot open password protected WordPress pages using Firefox. They open using IE
If I remove the password protection the page opens correctly in FF.
I have cleared the FF cache and cookies several times, No change
I have modified the wp-pass.php file several suggested ways related to the referrer and nothing solves the issue.

I know some one might have asked it but I just wanna re-confirm.
Would the upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion erase my Windows partition? I am currently using Bootcamp on my Macbook Pro (Late 2010 Version) and I do not have parallel desktop. I asked the same question when Lion was released, but HK Apple Store said YES and Melbourne Apple Store said no. I am a bit confused now.
