Downgrading 10g to 9.0.1.4

Hello folks,
I have a database schema in a 10g database that I need to copy into a 9.0.1.4 database. I understand that could probably use exp (v9) against the 10g database, and then imp (v9) on the 9i database. I have no idea how to do this. I've copied the entire bin folder from 9i to 10g (different folder of course) but every time I run exp from that folder I get an oracle 12538 error (something about TNS). I wonder if there's more to it than just using v9 exp, i.e. installing a v9 listener, etc. Any pointers will be welcome.
Thanks!
Gabriel.

The sysadmin will never allow me to install any software for fear of breaking anything, and I can't blame him. Besides, what exactly are the changes that installing the 9i client will do that will allow me to run exp? A different path? A second listener? Anyway, now we're moving from "just run the version of exp that came with 9i" to "install a full 9i client". It's getting a lot more complicated than I first thought would be...

  • How to Downgrade Rpd From 11g to 10g???

    Hi all,
I want to know how to downgrade rpd from obiee 11.1.1.5 to obiee 10.1.3.4.
    please share the valuable links.
    Thanks.

First, you will have to completely uninstall 11g, see steps below:
    http://obiee911.blogspot.com/2013/01/uninstalling-obiee-11g-instance-on.html
This should be followed by installing 10g, and then applying 10g patches to reach 10.1.3.4.1 version. I hope you have all the right 10g installation files available. Im not sure if you can download them from Oracle anymore, please check before proceeding.

  • Downgrade oracle version 11g to 10g

    Hi
while connecting from 11g client to 8i it throwing error version not supported
how to downgrade oracle 11g client to 10 g client.
    Thanks
    Regards

    Hi Mirza,
thanks for ur reply, but is there any way to downgrade the oracle client from 11g to 10gon server there more database so that we cannot unistall.
I believe you Install 11g client software on client machine, if its so you can safely uninstall it and Install 10g again.
If this 11g Installation configured on server with a database its a different scenario.
You question is not clear. Please elaborate it...
Also i dont think there is no such option for downgrading client.
    thanks,

  • Downgrade from 10g to 8i

    HI Gentlemen,
Could you tell me if it is possible that I migrate my Forms application from 10g BACK to 8i? All Webutil-references will be commented out, and deployment would not use any AS. However, I would like to preserve Web appearance and printing logic (FILE, PRINTER, CACHE/PREVIEW).
I know it is the opposite direction but many customers have older Windows versions where 10gDB does not apply.
Thank you very much, kind regards from
    Miklos HERBOLY

Are you talking about migrating back your forms? You can't take and FMB file from 10g and "back generate" in 6i for example (there is no 8i forms).

For earlier versions, the trace file will be written to either USER_DUMP_DEST (if the error was caught in a user process) or BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST (if the error was caught in a background process like PMON or SMON). • Manually Migrating from Oracle 10g to 11g

Hello, I'm currently a student in an Oracle DBA class. I'm totally new to the Oracle world.
One of our final assignments concerns upgrading Oracle instances without the use of DBUA.
I've currently got Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0 and am trying to upgrade to 11.1.0.7.0
This is all inside of VirtualBox, running Windows Server 2008. I've been using 10g with absolutely no issues for the duration of this class.
I successfully installed 11g, choosing to install the software only and not use dbua.
I changed my environment variables to point towards the 10g installation; ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, PATH, and LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
Then logged into 10g's SQLPlus and ran utlu111i.sql, which ran successfully. I issued a shutdown immediate and exited SQLPlus.
Changed my environment variables to point towards the 11g home and set ORACLE_SID as the 10g database name. I was able to log into 11g's SQL plus, was told I was connected to an idle instance, which I expected. I issued a startup upgrade command, and then attempted to run catupgrd.sql, but got an error stating that I had to run the script from 11g.
If I don't set the environment variables then when I try to log into 11g's sqlplus, I get an ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error... I've tried reinstalling 11g from scratch, but to no avail. My instructor and I have been emailing back and forth frequently over the past few days but we have not been able to reach a solution, so I thought I would see if I could pick your brains.
Here's all of the terminal output from the process:

In your case it was Disconnected from Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0
To solve the issue follow the official documentation, you have specific actions with oradim etc. to do (it's always a bit more complicated than with Unix/Linux but it's documented) :

  • ORA-03106  Error when connecting to Oracle 10g from Forms 6i

I have migrated my database from Oracle 8.0.5 to Oracle 10g, version 10.0.1.0.3 through import-export utility. During migration, one difference I made was to change the NLS_LANG to UTF8 from ANSI.
The NLS_LANG for client is AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE81S08859P1.
I am using HP ML370 Proliant Server and running Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS version 3 with Oracle 10g
My client-server application is based on Oracle Developer version 2.1. I am using forms 5.0 and reports 3.0 only.
The problem with me is that the client-server application is working against the upgraded database, but with greatly downgraded speed. The .fmb files cannot be compiled, however some of the .rdf files are compiled successfully, but remaining not.
My question is that is Developer 2000 (Forms 5.0.6 and Reports 3.0.5) compatable with Oracle 10 database, as my application is running very slow ?
I tried Forms 6i to remove this problem. I used Forms Developer 6i Recut version and successfully installed on Windows XP, however, when try to create connection using Net 8 Easy Utility, the connection does not establish with following error:
    ORA-03106 : fatal two-task communication protocol error
The entry has been checked in tnsnames.ora and is found correct. I also tried connecting through SQL, but the application closes.
The patch set 17 for installation on Windows XP has also been applied, but still the same error persits.
The same installation has also been checked on Windows 2000, but the same problem persists.
I would be thankful if any one provide me solution for the same. Where I am mistaken and what do I do to get out of this problem.
    Regards
    Naveen.

    Naveen,
Forms 5.0 is not certified and not tested with Oracle DB 10g because it was desupported before 10g got released.
The other problem is hard to give a generic answer for and I suggest to address this to metalink.oracle.com

  • Using Webutin on 6i and 10G

I have a 1 set of programs that were developed in 6i and migrated over to 10G. I would like to use Webutil in my programs, but don't want to have 2 seperate versions (1 for 6i and 1 for 10G). Is this possible? I need the Webutil PLL and Object group in the form before I can compile but they are different in 6ii and 10G

ok. If I do that will this work?:
Take 9i webutil pll and downgrade to 6i
Attach PLL and object library to 6i form
    Compile on 6i
Don't care if webutil works on 6i, just that form compiles ok
Move my 6i form to 10G
Compile on 10G without changing form
Webutil works on 10G form when run
    Yes?

    2. The referenced docs are for the base release of 10gR2 - as noted above, only 10.2.0.5 is certified on Win 7 Professional or higher. This requires access to My Oracle Support to download the 10.2.0.5 patch.
    Your best options are -
    1. Use a supported OS - either (1) downgrade to Win XP Pro or (2) upgrade to Win 7 Pro, then install 11gR2.
    2. Install a free VM on Win 7 Home (use VMplayer from VMWare), then download Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) from http://edelivery.oracle.com/linux for free, install OEL in the VM, then install 11gR2 in the OEL VM.

    Hello,
Oracle 10g XE is rather specific and, I'm not sure that you can upgrade it to 10.2.0.4 .
However, Oracle published an Upgrade Guide for Oracle Express Edition but, it's limited to *10.2.0.3*:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25329_01/doc/server.102/b32391/toc.htm
    But be careful:
Once you have upgraded to Oracle Database 10g, you cannot downgrade back to Oracle Database Express Edition.Hope this help.

  • Is there a way to use different NIC names in 10g RAC?

For example node 1 has ipge0 for private, ipge1 for private and node 2 has Solaris default e1000g0 and e1000g1? Or do interface names have to match on all nodes? I am not referring to IPs or subnets - just NIC names.
    Here is some background.
This was a 2 node 10g RAC on Solaris that has been in operation for years. Node 2 experienced a corrupt root partition (OS, nothing to do with Oracle), so OS was reinstalled. After OS reinstall I copied /var/opt/oracle/*.* from node 1, changed them to reflect node 2 info, plus CRS related files from /etc/init.d, such as init.crsd, etc. This is shared Oracle home, so Oracle continued to run on node 1 just fine.
However, after crs startup nodeapps tells me "atlts04ra.atlts04.vip:ifconfig: status: SIOCGLIFFLAGS: ipge0: no such interface". Indeed, this interface does not exist on node 2.
So, is there a way to instruct oracle to use different interface names for nodes? Or will vipca ask for matching NIC names just like disk mount names have to match?
I want to avoid reinstallation of RAC because that will disrupt oracle database that has been running on shared oracle home all along.
    Thanks.

Fzheng, I am very interested in your statement "however you can change the e1000g0 to ipge0".
You mean to say there is an OS script that will downgrade ipge0 interfaces to e1000g0?
I got some more information from SysAdmins yesterday. Apparently, when OS was reinstalled on node 2 after root partition corruption, they also patched it up to Solaris 10u9 (which by default created e1000g0-type interfaces). The first node still had 10u7 with ipge0 interfaces. We, the DBAs, were not aware of the upgrade. So, nodeapps cant start saying "no such interface"on node 2.
You are probably referring to script /usr/sbin/e1000g_transition.
    Here is the description:
    "DESCRIPTION
This script allows you to perform an optional driver upgrade
for the Intel PRO/1000 device present on this system from the \"ipge\"
network driver to the Sun standard \"e1000g\" network driver. The
e1000g driver include features such as link aggregation as well as
superior performance in most environments. Moving forward, e1000g
will benefit from new features as they become available, bug fixes,
and performance enhancements. The disadvantage is that some
applications configuration files may require modification to use
e1000g if they reference the ipge network interface.
This script must be run in single user mode.
This script will alter network interfaces and related system
configuration files. Configuration files for 3rd party applications
will NOT be changed. After running this script, applications present
on the system may require maintenance. The system may be in an
unsecured state. The effects of this script may be reversed using
    the backout (-b) option."
So, if I understand you correctly, you are proposing to run this this script with the backout (-b) option on node 2, so interface names will match.
    Is this correct?
    Thanks.
