Downgrading CP8 to before patch 8.0.1.242

Since this patch is completely broken (see my other discussion about question pools), is it possible to downgrade to the older patch so my company can keep working on the iPad versions of my software?

Same, does it look like this:
Everything changes when previewed or published - why?

  • Stop Services Before Patching

    Hello,
I had a question come up yesterday regarding a few servers in my environment related to patch deployments from SCCM 2012. Is it possible to deploy a Software Update Group that will stop certain services before patches are applied - then, after the reboot,
start those services up in a specific order?
There are at lease two seperate high-profile production applications where I have to suppress the reboots and schedule reboot times for those systems so the system owners can start the services in a specific order. It would be a real time saver to automate
    this type of situation.
    TIA

For scenarios like this where you need to control multiple steps, many organizations use Orchestrator to automate the process.  I prefer this approach because it allows the most flexibility for handling success/failure scenarios.
You can also try to use a Task Sequence for this.
    I hope that helps,

  • Does Financial Reporting Studio need to be uninstalled before patching?

    Hi Guys,
Moving forward on my patch plan, I am stuck again, this time with the ambiguity in the documentation. I am trying to apply the Financial Reporting Patch 13997553. While going through the documentation, I found two ambiguous statements. In step2, the doc says that I need to uninstall the FR studio (Doesnt say on which machine I need to uninstall). Later in step9, it says, on FR studio Machines, uninstall the FR studio.
As per my assumption, in step2, I have to uninstall it from the Server and in Step9 I need to unistall it from my local machine. But the document never talked about re-installing the FR studio on server. What am I missing here?
    Help appreciated. Thanks!
Here's part of readme which confused me -
    APPLYING THE PATCH_
The section includes important information about applying this patch for Oracle Hyperion Financial Reporting, Fusion Edition.
    To apply this patch:
    1. Shut down all services and servlet instances related to the Oracle Hyperion EPM Release 11.1.2.2.00 installation.
    2. Uninstall the Financial Reporting Studio by going to Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and then uninstall Financial Reporting Studio.*
    3. On On the Financial Reporting server machines; Download and unzip the downloaded patch file, <PATCH FILE NAME>.zip, to the <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/OPatch directory (by default, Oracle/Middleware/EPMSystem11R1/OPatch).
NOTE: <PATCH FILE NAME>.zip is the name that My Oracle Support assigns to this patch. When you download the file, a message indicates the file name.
    4. On On the Financial Reporting server machines, from a command line, change the directory to <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/OPatch.
    5. To apply the patch, enter the following command on one line:
    Windows:
    opatch.bat apply <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/OPatch/<PATCH DIRECTORY> -oh <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>
    -jdk <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>/jdk160_29
NOTE: The default for <EPM_ORACLE_HOME> is C:/Oracle/Middleware/EPMSystem11R1. The default for <MIDDLEWARE_HOME> is C:/Oracle/Middleware.
    UNIX/Linux:
    ./opatch apply <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/OPatch/<PATCH DIRECTORY> -oh <EPM_ORACLE_HOME> -jdk <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>/jdk160_29 -invPtrLoc <EPM_ORACLE_HOME>/oraInst.loc
NOTE: The default for <EPM_ORACLE_HOME> is $HOME/Oracle/Middleware/EPMSystem11R1. The default for <MIDDLEWARE_HOME> is $HOME/Oracle/Middleware.
    6. Delete the Financial Reporting precompiled jsp files located at: <ORACLE_HOME>\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\precompiled\hr
    7. Restart Oracle Hyperion EPM services and servlets.
    8. All users should now clear cached files from their browsers.
“For WebSphere deployments, you must use EPM System Configurator to redeploy the Web application.”
    9. On the Financial Reporting Studio machines; Uninstall the Financial Reporting Studio by going to Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and then uninstall Financial Reporting Studio.*
    10. Connect to the EPM Workspace machine that was patched in Step 3. Download the Financial Reporting Studio installer from the EPM Workspace menu: From the Tools menu, select Install and then select Financial Reporting Studio and then launch the installer. Follow the installation guide to install the Financial Reporting Studio to the location you want.
    11. All users should now clear cached files from their browsers.

    JohnGoodwin wrote:
Uninstall the FR studio on any machines that it has been installed on, then once patched you can download the latest FR Studio from workspace and then install.
You will find that it is installed by going to the start menu - Oracle - Financial Reporting StudioSo if i got you right,
-I need to uninstall the FR studio from all the machines (including the server).
    -Apply the Patch.
    -Install FR studio back again
And this whole process has nothing to do with Financial Reporting Web App.
    Thanks!

  • Zipping the ORACLE_HOME as backup before applying a patch

    Hi,
I'm reading the and OPatch User's Guide 10g Release 2 (10.2) for Windows and it states there to backup the oracle home before patching.
+"You can back up the ORACLE_HOME using your preferred method. You can use any method such as zip, cp -r, tar, and cpio to compress the ORACLE_HOME."+
I have a zip.exe and unzip.exe under the oracle_home/bin directory. Unzipping a folder works fine, but i can't manage to zip a folder - I keep getting the following error:

  • Anyone installed the new patch (3.0.9.8.3) on Solaris yet?

Well, I have the patch, and I am happy to see many of the bugs I was concerned about have been addressed, most particularly the many performance issues.
It looks like this patch was released over the weekend. I would love to hear from someone who has already applied this patch, and what sort of differences you noticed in your environment afterwards.
    Thanks!
    Adrian Klingel

I have applied patch set 2452260 which upgrades portal to 3.0.9.8.3 and mod_plsql 3.0.9.8.3c, and 2244167 to fix some Jserv bugs. No problem during installation. The problem now I am facing is "performance". It is taking 20-25 seconds to get the very first login page as opposed to 3-4 seconds before patch. After login everything looks fine. There's a bug report for this(2391402). Note 198379.1 suggests using "BrowserMatch "MSIE" nokeepalive downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0" in httpd.conf to force all Microsoft IE not to use "keepalive" feature. Similary "KeepAlive off" works. However, it works very well only with "http". "Https" gets extremely slow with this. I am working with Oracle regarding this issue.
Whoever fix this problem, please email me at [email protected]

  • Proper procedure for patching from Single User mode

Typically when I install a patch cluster from Sun, I do a sanity reboot from the console of the server using:
    shutdown -y -g0 -i6
When the system comes back online, I log into the console again and then do:
shutdown -y -g0 -i0 (to go into OBP)
    then
boot -s (to go into single user mode)
The procedure above was given to me from a Sun technician.
Then I install the patch cluster and reboot. It has come to my attention that Sun recommends breaking any mirrors between your disks before patching. I wanted to know what is the best way to do this for both Veritas Volume Manager and Solaris Volume Manager. For Veritas Volume Manager, I was thinking of going into the vxdiskadm menu driven utility and choosing the option to "Remove a disk for replacement" for the rootmirror disk and then after a reboot to check that the patches did not cause a problem, go back into vxdiskadm and choose the option "Replace a failed or removed disk" and select the rootmirror which should then begin to automatically resync itself to the primary rootdisk. Any comments on if this is a proper way to do this or if someone has a better method, I would love to hear it. I am assuming a system with just two internal disks: c1t0d0s2 and c1t1d0s2
Also, if anyone can comment on how to do this with Solaris Volume Manager or if it is required would be great also.
    Thanks much for any advice.

Then I install the patch cluster and reboot. It has
come to my attention that Sun recommends breaking any
mirrors between your disks before patching.Again, I don't know if it's "official", but if you have a backup copy that you could boot from, it does reduce the possibilities of critical problems from a bad patch.
    I wanted
to know what is the best way to do this for both

great also.Well, it'll work as you've described, but what if the patches fail? The disconnected mirror is not bootable. You'd have to go through an unencapsulation and other things from a CD.
I've often simply pulled one side of the mirror while the machine was shutdown. Since the mirror was valid prior to pulling, it will boot. If there's a problem, I shut down, swap disks, and boot from the untouched mirror. If no problem, I re-insert, reattach the disk to the diskgroup, then recover the volumes.
I don't know of any nice supported method of booting from an offline VxVM mirror that doesn't involve a very long series of steps. My method isn't supported, but it does work. If you have both disks in the machine at the same time though, it'll update the private regions. Don't do that until you're ready to sync up one way or the other. Test before doing it in production.
In any event, you should have a backup ready to go.

  • Generating reports using RWServlet.class(Patch-12)

    Sir,
We have configured the Apache Tomcat-3.2.2 to be the servlet engine for generating reports using oracle.reports.rwcgi.RWServlet. Earlier we have been using, Patch-2. We have created many keys(cgicmd.dat) for the different reports that are there with the mostly needed report parameters(including PARAMFORM=YES). We call the report in the browser giving the URL "http://<machine_name>/oraclereports/servlet/oracle.reports.rwcgi.RWServlet?<key_name>". Now, the report page that gets generated is the parameter form. In the HTML source of this page, the form-submitting action is pointing correctly to URL "http://<machine_name>/oraclereports/servlet/oracle.reports.rwcgi.RWServlet.....". The parameter values are entered and the form submitted. The generated report is perfect..
Some days before, Patch-10 was installed. The RWServlet.class that comes along with this was copied to the oracle/reports/rwcgi folder in Tomcat. Now, when the same steps(calling report) as done before were done, the report is not getting generated, giving the output for no page found. The HTML source of the parameter form shows the form-submitting-action URL as "http://<machine_name>/servlet/oracle.reports.rwcgi.RWServlet.." omitting the "oraclereports" that was there earlier.
Now, we have installed Patch-12, copied the new RWServlet.class. For this case also, the same problem is now encountered. Now, have we have to do any additional configuration somewhere? The page that is generated, on giving the URL ""http://<machine_name>/oraclereports/servlet/oracle.reports.rwcgi.RWServlet/showenv?server=Rep60_MACHINENAME" is showing the SCRIPT_NAME as "/servlet/oracle.reports.rwcgi.RWServlet". Is it something to do with this? We tried putting SCRIPT_NAME as a user environment variable, and also by giving SET SCRIPT_NAME=/oraclereports. Still, the problem persists. Doesn't the HttpServletRequest class have some method that returns the SCRIPT_NAME, i.e, the path where the execution is being done? How could different versions of the same class oracle.reports.rwcgi.RWServlet deployed with the same settings on the Tomcat servlet engine behave differently? Please help us on how to solve this problem..
    Thank you,
    Regards..
    Ranjith

    Hi,
Is there some way, i.e., by doing some Tomcat setting changes, that the RWServlet of Patch-10/12 can be made to work like RWServlet of Patch-2(with normal settings)? Please help..
    Thank you,
    Regards..

  • Oracle Database 11.1.0.6 Online Patch

I'm trying to make some testing on Online Patching. My dev environment contains of two RAC clusters (2 nodes each) configured in Data Guard with Physical Standby. The problem is that description of every patch for my version on Metalink states that I need to shutdown all instances before patching, so I suppose it's impossible to apply them online. Is it possible to apply any of these patches online? If it isn't, where should I go to find patch to apply online?

Little bit closer, but it still isn't that. I've found some [dummy patch|https://updates.oracle.com/download/6198642.html] created by Oracle for testing purposes of hot patching. But all what this patch is doing is copying some SQL to directory in ORACLE_HOME - without any shared library switch (no messages in alert.log). I'd be very glad if somebody can tell me where to find REAL patch I can apply online (Oracle states that about 95% of interim patches can be applied online - is it possible that all patches for Linux-32 and 11.1.0.6 are in five percents that doesn't apply? :-) )
    ------ UPDATE -------
Or maybe somebody know where can I download this "patch":

  • Patch Solaris 9/10 box..VVM

I am patching Solaris 9 & 10 servers tonight and we use Veritas Volume Manager for disk mirroring. Before patching do I need to work with mirror break or anything like that ? or else can i go ahead and do the patching directly irrespective of Veritas Volume Manager. Pls suggest me.

    Hi Alex thanks for replying.
    The sequence of events are:
Boot into solaris 8, put the installation disk into the drive. (The disks contents can be seen in solaris). Reboot the system. Openboot runs, i press stop+a anyway. Enter boot cdrom and get the error:
Bad magic number in disk label
    Can't open disk label package
    Cant open boot device.
If i enter boot disk, it will boot back to solaris.
I must be doing something wrong. The disk did work when i performed a test installation on a HP system. ?
    Thanks

  • Patching mid tier and infrastructure tiers.

    Greetings!!!
I am having some questions on patches and hope someone can help me here.
We have two Oracle Application Server machines both on Windows 2003 servers 32-bit and both are on 10.1.2.0.2 release.
The first machine is hosting HTTP Server, Forms (OC4J_BI_Forms), Reports, Webcache (Application/Mid tier). Release is 10.1.2.0.2
The second machine is hosting OID+Metadata repository, Single Sign-On, HTTP Server, and OC4J_Security (Infrastructure Tier). Release is 10.1.2.0.2.
I am now applying patches to both the servers.
Here are the steps I have:
    1. Apply the Patch 4505133 on the Infrastructure (10.1.0.5 Patch Set)
    2. Apply the Patch 5983622 on the Mid-tier. (10.1.3 patch set)
I have already completed step (1). I patched the infrastructure database from 10.1.0.4 to 10.1.0.5.
Am I missing the other step to patch Infrastructure tier components? Should I also patch the HTTP Server and the Oracle Home on infrastructure tier? I am not talking about the infrastructure database here. I am already done with that step.
If I only patch the Mid Tier with #5983622, then won't the mid tier will be on 10.1.3 release and infrastructure components (HTTP Server, SSO) will be on the same old 10.1.2.0.2.
The primary requirement is that I need to upgrade HTTP servers on both the tiers to the same level. Can you suggest me the equivalent of patch 5983622 for infrastructure tier and the way forward? Will appreciate any answers!!! TY.

    Hello,
I think u are mixing some things here.
In order to apply 5983622, u have to update database version is 10.1.0.4 to 10.1.0.5. (patch 4505133) That must be done before patching the two homes of Application Server.
Patch 5983622 is for Application Server. U have to apply it on Infrastructure Tier and on Application/Mid tier Home, in order to update Application Server from 10.1.2.2 to 10.1.2.3.
    regards,
    Pedro

  • Pactching kernel with fbsplash.patch (SOLVED)

Never patched a kernel before and i'm having problems!!
This what i've done so far (as root):
    1. Installed kernel26-ck (2.6.22-ck) with pacman and rebooted into arch using that kernel
    2. downloaded the fbsplash via (genpatches-2.6.22-1.extras.tar.bz2)
    3. put the splash.patch file into /usr/src
    4. made a symlink for current kernel in /usr/src; giving /usr/src/linux --> /usr/src/linux/linux-2.6.22-ck
    5. cd /usr/src/linux
    6. patch -p1 < ../splash.patch
    # NOTE: looking into using the abs method of PKGBUILD'ing a custom kernel with patches - hopefully i'll do better!!
The best way to do this is by emulating the abs versions of the standard kernel as described in these forums
    1. copy the abs version of the stock kernel26
    2. adjust the PKGBUILD to include spock's patch (not gentoo's)
    3. makepkg
    4. pacman -U the new kernel
    Then get on with fbsplash!

Not that it answers your question but I have been using the latest beyond kernel since it came out and have had no problem with mounting and using ntfs disks resulting in system hangs. Also I have recently been using ntfs-3g which allows safely writing to NTFS partitions. I am using it for backups on an external USB drive with an NTFS file system. Give ntf-3g a shot before patching the kernel.
